strikethrough is such a random text modifier to have included in tumblr's text editing capabilities alongside bold and italicize but u know what?? it was the right decision
#this post brought to u by why the fuc does gdocs on desktop have strikethrough but mobile DOESNT#i dont often need to use it BUT WHEN I DO.......#retag later#no underline makes sense i think bc links are underlined#thats super interesting actually. underline used to be used for emphasis like bold and italicize#but since the age of the internet & esp social media underline is now visual shorthand for ''this is a link click it''#to the point that nobody uses it for its original purpose anymore#or rather its not even included as a standard option anymore#not unless ur using some kind of writing software anyway#i noticed this bc i was typing up some old old stories i wrote on paper in high school#and bc when ur physically writing w a pencil its way easier to just underline a word for emphasis than slant or thicken the letters#but when i translated it to digital typeface and included the underline for accuracy#i realized it looked weird to me like almost didnt read as emphasis at all anymore#i just think thats super weird and neat#anecdote#talkin bout stuff#(also not to say that nobody has ever used underline for anything aside from emphasis but just in this conext. casual online speak)
