Method 6: Changing the Name of SoftwareDistribution Folder
SoftwareDistribution is the folder where your system installs and conserves all files and services related to Windows Updates. If you rename this folder, then your operating system won’t be able to locate Windows Updates files, and this might also clear up the 0x80070057 error. Let’s learn how to rename the SoftwareDistribution folder with a step by step guide:
Go to the Start Menu by simply tapping the Start key on your keyboard.
Search for Services and then hit Enter.
Now in the Services window, find the Windows Update services.
