As Arenado cleans up and rookies seize spots, Cardinals’ ‘best lineup’ takes shape | St. Louis Cardinals
As Arenado cleans up and rookies seize spots, Cardinals’ ‘best lineup’ takes shape | St. Louis Cardinals
BOSTON — There are many methods a manager will use to write a lineup, from mining data for the right matchups to placing hitters for protection to pulling names out of a hat, as Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol joked this weekend he might do. (He didn’t.) The best remains when performance guides the pen, and a lineup reveals itself. That’s what led to Tommy Edman returning to leadoff this…

This week in baseball, Connie edition
April 27
~ Tomás Nido is the first Mets catcher this season to throw a base stealer out. (Are Alvarez and Narvaez just bad at it?)
~ Tyler Glasnow pitched 8 shutout innings in that same game on Sunday.
~ Nido also hit a home run on Friday, in the same game that J.D. Martinez made his debut with the New York Mets and hit an RBI double.
~ Paul Goldschmidt hit a home run on Monday after going 20 games without an extra base hit. Nolan Gorman hit a homer in the 9th inning of that same game, his first walk-off home run.
~ Cal Raleigh got four hits, plus a home run, in last Saturday's game in Denver against the Rockies. He's the first Mariners catcher to do so since 1996.
~ Addison Barger hit the ball nearly 400 feet for his first at-bat in his Wednesday debut with the Blue Jays, but at Kauffman Stadium, (where the Royals play in Kansas City) that wasn't far enough to clear the wall, and Kyle Isbel caught it.
~ Pete Alonso's 200th career home run!
If I missed anything, feel free to let me know.

Five Cards Whenever: #12-#16 -- Jeffrey Springs, Giovanny Gallegos, Brandon Drury, Michael Grove, Nolan Gorman
See here for a headnote and explanation. A few years ago, I was called for jury duty. I don’t know how it works where you are, but in my little corner of New Jersey, there’s a lot of sitting around waiting. I decided to put my time to good use by studying a few of the baseball annuals (this was before the start of the season). I took a paper and pen and wrote down the starting lineups and depth…

Oppenheimer: Movie Review
When the Oscars come round I don’t think it will be Cillian Murphy that gets his shoulder tapped I think it could be Emily Blunt and Robert Downie Jr who plays Oppenheimer’s would be nemesis, Lewis Strauss. Don’t get me wrong, Murphy is good, just not truly great. And that about sums up this overlong movie, good just not truly great. The plot wriggles and writhes through timelines in such a way…

a fellow ace! Hello and happy pride! You write poetry….I love it :) Do you have a favorite poet?
hello fellow ace! happy pride to you as well! i do in fact write poetry and i’m so happy to hear you love it 🥰🥰💜 it’s very emotional for me and a way i processed my emotions and anger when i first discovered i had ptsd, now it’s a way for me to process any strong emotion and i’ve found it very helpful.
i must admit i don’t read many poets, but of those i’ve read, i absolutely love Amanda Gorman! she’s such an amazing poet; her command of rhyme, rhythm, and emotion is honestly so impressive. her works are also very relatable which i find is what makes for some of the best poetry. i also have a book called Legends by Bethany Nolan, which you can find on amazon. it’s a poetry book about greek mythology and i love it so much (haven’t had a lot of time to read it but i’m slowly working through it, lol. my boyfriend got it for me as a gift) also, if you’re looking for a tumblr poet, i absolutely love @glasswaters works. they’re so raw and have a certain vibe to them that is….idk but i love it. like fae in a forest or ancient castle, if that makes sense.
i have a lot more poetry i haven’t published bc i want to self-publish a work with all of my poetry (or a few works with different groupings of my poetry), but i’ll try to post a few more!
