FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE...9/10/18 The 9th Annual South Mountain International Blues Festival was postponed for the first time in its history due to weather on Sunday, September 9th 2018. Although a rain date was not scheduled, the County of Essex and the NJBA immediately explored the option of another opportunity on Saturday, September 15th. Rescheduling a festival of this magnitude is a huge endeavor, and typically not done. Although daunting, a sincere attempt was made by all parties to pull together "the impossible " in only 5 days...and an announcement was made. After extensive discussions with the county, personnel meetings exposed some scheduling and resource conflicts which would likely make this first-class festival impossible to deliver in time for Saturday. To preserve the integrity and legacy of this annual experience, it was decided to cancel the festival -- and begin preparation for our 10th anniversary next September. We apologize to our fans and supporters... and look forward to seeing you all at SMIBF 2019! (West Orange, NJ)-The North Jersey Blues Alliance announces that the 2017 South Mountain International Blues Festival will be held on Sunday, September 10th from 12 PM to 8 PM at the Cherry Lane/Oakdale Picnic Area at South Mountain Reservation in West Orange, NJ. The South Mountain International Blues Festival is an all-day event featuring a dynamic lineup of world-renowned Blues artist. The Festival is presented by music and entertainment impresario Mike Griot, Essex County, and the North Jersey Blues Alliance (NJBA).
An annual late summer staple in northern New Jersey, the South Mountain International Blues Festival is a day for lovers of all music genres. Presented free of charge on the sprawling acreage at the base of South Mountain Reservation, the Festival is a relaxing and fun day for music fans of all ages.
Now in its 8th year, the Festival continues to grow in popularity throughout the region. This year the festival will feature live streaming interviews with performers before and after their on-stage appearance. The Festival’s location, laid-back atmosphere, selection of food and drink from local eateries, and its abundance of passionate performers makes it the perfect end-of-summer event.
