Thanks! It’s … not all that mysterious actually haha

She grew up on a space ship of dubious reputation; her parents were smugglers who operated all across Imperial space, but from what she remembers they were doing lots of relief runs to supply people in need on occupied planets that were suffering from the war and such. Nievrin likes to think they were the Good Guys fighting oppression in their own small way, helping people who really needed it and sticking it to the Empire in the process. So that was all she knew for most of her childhood until one of the jobs went sideways and her parents got double-crossed by a group of pirates they were dealing with in the outer rim. They were ultimately killed in the fray and left her with nothing but the rusty wreck of a ship that would never fly again.

So Nievrin went to live with her aunt in New Adasta, which was a very different life from what she’d known before. Whatever her aunt did professionally (it was all very mysterious with hushed voices and secret meetings behind closed doors) it made her fairly influential in certain circles and meant that both she and her niece were well provided for. Which would have been fine and all but Nievrin felt like a fish out of water and never really fit into polite society. Not that she ever really tried tbh

One thing that always kind of stuck with her through the years was her strong sense of justice and the fact that her parents had been robbed of theirs? She thought it was unbelievably unfair that no one had ever even bothered to investigate their murder simply because they’d been smugglers - basically “scum that deserved what was coming to them” if you asked anyone with the power to actually do something. It’s not that Nievrin is hooked on some sort of revenge plot to punish her parents’ killers - she isn’t, that’s just not who she is at all, ever the optimist, always looking forward and never back - but just the whole injustice of it all. 

So she decided to be the person to do something about it herself, if not for her parents then maybe for people in similar situations. She briefly tried the Imperial Academy and that didn’t work out because she’s just too … colourful (and allergic to authority lbr), which is how she ended up bounty hunting. Bringing Bad People™ to justice is very rewarding to her in more than just credits
