My first submission for the #NewOlympusAU started by the lovely @Crow.queen.art . I know many of my followers here are Greek mythology nerds so this is definitely something you should check out! This is 1/5 gods that I've committed to redesigning. The next to come are Hekate, Nemisis, Artemis, and Hypnos. Poseidon ended up becoming a fish Jesus...Not quite my intention but hey, it works. For @crow.queen.art ! And her #NewOlympusAU. I love notnm ching more than my patron goddess Artemis and what she stands for. As an asexual myself I love that the Greeks really embodied the idea of women being able to be strong leaders and powerful enemies without the need of a man or even children. I love that she empowers women through her hunt and thst those women also take the pledge of living without a man in order to live immortal with her. Some notes about her design: I gave her some grey hair because I like to normally use a grey or white strip of hair to reflect someone as immortal. I wanted her to look both very old and very young and also reflect the silvery moon in her hair. I also wanted to go for a more viking or 'savage' woman look because Artemis isolates herself from Olympus because her cares and motivations don't lie with the rest of the gods but instead the protection of women, providing safe havens, and supporting the wilds so they require her to stay with the mortals. She wouldn't frequent inside many cities and if she did she'd be very disguised. The real miracle of the winter solstice is that instagram didn't crop this weirdly. However it did decide to absoloutely massacre my quality and I wish for Tartarus. And as always, I wouldn't be quite myself if I'm not working on my art up until the last few days before a deadline. This is my winter solstice gift to @rbdecepticon17 and their original characters for @crow.queen.art 's New Olympus; Grafo and Anagnosi. It was a fun challenge trying to decide how I was going to arrange this piece, but I think the Greek pottery look is my go to favourite for story telling!
