hi! i was wondering how do you make your lookbooks? im horrible at photoshop/gimp so if you could, could you describe it in detail of what to do?
hi there! i'm so sorry for the late reply! i made a mini tutorial here going into detail on how i take pictures of my sims in cas and how i edit them! i use paint tool sai for the majority of my edits and add filters in photoshop. here’s a more detailed process on how i edit my lookbooks after this step (under the cut)
this part of my editing process mostly uses clipping layers and selection tool, so it’s a good idea to get familiar with those. i’ve never used gimp before, but i know that photoshop has both of these tools and i know there are other art/photo editing programs that do too (procreate, clip studio paint, sai, etc).
once i’m finished cutting out the background from cas and editing my sims, i arrange them on my canvas in a way i like:
Tumblr media
the checkered background shows that it is transparent, so i am able to add a background underneath the sim
i add a layer below my sim to act as my “photo template”. i use a template so i know where to put my images below my sim. i included the png below so you can feel free to use it for your own lookbooks. you can also make your own if you’d like and mess around with the layout for your background.
Tumblr media
once i have my template ready, i gather some photos from pinterest that i feel match my lookbook. i usually try to go by the colour scheme or general aesthetic of the look. i then loosely arrange the photos over the template. they don’t have to perfectly overlap since we’ll be clipping them in the next part
Tumblr media
this next part can be a bit tricky to describe so just bear with me haha,, basically, i use clipping layers to add my photos and cut them to the template without having to erase any of the excess. when you “clip” a layer to another layer in photoshop, it will essentially take the shape of that layer?? i’m not the best at explaining it but its a really easy way to add my photos without having to specifically crop them to perfectly fit the template.
to clip layers in photoshop, first put your photo layer above your template layer
Tumblr media
then go up to your “layer” option in the menu bar and select “create clipping mask”.
Tumblr media
you can also hold the alt key and position your mouse so it’s between the two layers, then click, as a shortcut. i prefer doing this since it’s faster and especially more helpful when i have to clip multiple layers
here’s a look at what the photos look like clipped vs unclipped:
Tumblr media
if you’re still confused on clipping layers, you can find a more in depth explanation here :)
once i have my background ready, i’ll add my sim and make adjustments if necessary
Tumblr media
you can leave it here if you’d like, but i like to take it one step further by adding a subtle shadow underneath to add some dimension and separate the background from the sim! i start by making a selection of my sim. this can be done easily by holding + clicking the ctrl key over the thumbnail of your sim layer. its important to make sure that your sim is on a transparent layer so you get a clean selection of the sims silhouette
Tumblr media
your selection should look something like this
Tumblr media
with the selection made, make a new layer below your sim layer for your shadow. then, select a dark colour and use the paint bucket tool to fill in your selection. i try to avoid using a pure black for the shadow since it tends to look pretty harsh, and try and pick something similar to the colours of the layout. for this one, i went with a dark purple.
your layer should look something like this
Tumblr media
i then add a blur by going into filter > blur > gaussian blur, then adjust according to preference. you should have something like this
Tumblr media
i then add my sim back and adjust the opacity of my shadow layer if needed
Tumblr media
and here’s what the finished lookbook looks like! i hope this made sense and was helpful in some sort of way,, feel free to experiment with this method and create some cool stuff :)

Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit and More coming to Nintendo Switch
youtube
If you haven’t seen the Super Mario Direct from earlier today — definitely take a look! Mario’s 35th anniversary is in full swing with new game announcements, promotions and more. Launching in a couple short weeks is Super Mario 3D All-Stars, a combo pack of Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is notably missing but we’ll chalk that up to Nintendo working on a Super Mario Galaxy 3 and wanting to release 2 closer to that game’s launch (I can hope anyway
Tumblr media
).
Nintendo also showed off an augmented reality Mario Kart game that uses the Switch to connect to RC Mario Karts. Players can create their own track layouts in their real-world surroundings and then play them on their Switch consoles. Super Mario 3D World was also announced including some new content in the form of “Bowser’s Fury”. We’ll have to wait to hear more info on that expansion before the game’s February 2021 release.
Which announcement was the most exciting to you? Let us know in the comments!
Nintendo Marks the 35th Anniversary of Super Mario Bros. with Games, Products and In-Game Events
Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit and Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. All Launching This Year
REDMOND, Wash., Sept. 3, 2020 – Mario has come a long way since jumping on that first Goomba in World 1-1 of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Now, 35 years since the launch of that game in Japan, he is starring in new games on the Nintendo Switch system, lending his likeness to brands like LEGO®, PUMA and Monopoly, and watching as fans battle it out using Super Mario power-ups in Splatoon 2.
In a new video presentation released today, Nintendo detailed several games, products and in-game events that are all arriving for the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. This includes games new to the Nintendo Switch family of systems like Super Mario 3D All-Stars, a collection of three Super Mario games of the modern era, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy; Super Mario Bros. 35, a 35-player online battle in the world of the original Super Mario Bros. game; and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, an enhanced version of the Super Mario 3D World game which originally launched on Wii U.

This year they have really couple matching outfits diversified their content
Shortly after launching TShirtonomy in 2013 that I put together a listing of the 10 most powerful t-shirt blogs. In that article'sway' was measured by site traffic, plus social media following. This was a year and a half ago, that is equivalent to 1,000 interweb years. So, I've decided it is time for an update; the best 10 t-shirt blogs of 2014. And, I have resolved to be a bit stricter on which websites I have considered for this list. For instance, each site considered shall have regularly updated editorial material, not only automatically posted product pictures and links. I am also not including major t-shirt retailers that have a bolt-on site. So, without further ado, let us get started with the top tshirt sites (in my view ) of 2014! I must acknowledge, when I first started TShirtonomy, TeeHunter used to get under my skin. It seemed like each time I created a new list article, the following week that an almost identical article showed up on TeeHunter.
But I've since come to love them as a strong, and possibly my most direct competitor. And I have to give this up to them, this year they have really couple matching outfits diversified their content and taken their game up a notch. They're focusing on covering everything pop culture, and do a great deal of giveaways, which looks to have been good traffic driving, and social media following tactics. They have also recently launched a brand new Youtube series, which has given me a kick in the ass to get my own finally started.
Big props Sergiu and Andreea in TeeHunter, you guys inspire me and keep me on my toes. Hide Your Arms is one of those old timers of this t-shirt website scene. Andy and his team have been at it for decades and have revealed no signs of slowing down. Posts vary from new layout statements, to reviews, new brand reveals, and they are very accommodating to the community allowing anybody to submit news.
I have always admired Andy's honesty in his remarks that he appends to brand furnished press release type posts, in addition to calling out a less than magnificent design when he sees you! My only less than favorable remark about HYA is the website is plastered in ads, large ads. I guess it is a good money spinner but it looks a bit over-done in my opinion. HYA could likely rest on Andy's reputation in the business alone, it does not however. Its furious pace, publishing several posts daily, and its service to the tee community keeps Hide Your Arms on very top of all t-shirt blog lists.
The T-Shirt Magazine pushes out some great, and personalized gifts in-depth information, including interviews, lookbook testimonials, and kickstarter announcements. It's very well introduced, which matters when you are talking about design. It is big, bold, and makes great use of white space. It is possibly the best designed of all the blogs included here. I used to feel like the site revolved around promoting and selling their book / ebook about launching a new t-shrit brand (which I have been meaning to buy and review for some time!) , but it's evolved into much more. T-Shirt magazine might be the standard, in terms of design and content presentation, for new and present blogs to reach for.
Another beautifully presented blog. NowI know I said I would not include any retailer sites with bolt-on blogs. However, the Tshirt Factory Website are the exception for a Few reasons. For one, they post a massive amount of great content, and contrary to other retailer blogs, they don't focus exclusively on the artists and products they market in their own shop. This is a blog with articles that stands up on its own, its apparent that the crew at TShirt Factory are placing a Google lot of effort to the site, a very worthy inclusion. The most recent iteration of this Cottonable blog appears similar to a Pinterest plank or Tumblr site than a traditional blog. But on closer inspection, many articles contain an adequate quantity of content. The most used and'blog-like' posts include DIY manuals, and mini t-shirt reviews. On the other hand there are numerous articles which are pretty much just a product image, one sentence description. And a hyperlink to purchase.
The site looks really nice, and is very product-centric. I really do believe there's room for advancement, for example if they simply put a little more work to the text based material, better and more in-depth descriptions for example. They appear to have gone AWOL of-late also, with no new posts since late October. Hopefully they'll be right back!

Additionally, the video revealed other Super Mario experiences launching this year, like Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, which brings the fun of the Mario Kart series to the real world using the Nintendo Switch system to control a real-life, physical Kart; the launch of the classic Super NES game Super Mario All-Stars on Nintendo Switch Online later today*; and a new Nintendo product called Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros., a mini gaming device inspired by the retro Game & Watch systems that plays the original Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels and Ball games.
“We look forward to everyone joining us on a Mario journey 35 years in the making,” said Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser. “We are marking this significant milestone with a wide variety of games and experiences that all generations of Mario fans, from here to the Mushroom Kingdom, can enjoy together.”
The full video presentation can be viewed by visiting http://supermario35.com/. Highlights of the video include the following:
