Welp that’s the beauty of a crackship. They don’t have to make any sense 🤷🏽‍♀️ You can literally put Nettles with Barney and it’s valid.

That being said, I can’t really get into any of these crackships for Nettles. Daemon is a lot, but I love him and I love how he treats Nettles. His redeeming qualities are with her and she deserves the world 🤷🏽‍♀️

I also hope Gayle and actress who plays Nettles will do a stunning job so all those hating on them already will shut their mouth. I knew after 1 season ended both helaemond stans and daemyra stans will do their best to manifest Alys and Nettles being cut out and now they can choke on their own stupidity. They can't grasp the idea of 2 Targaryen princes leaving everything behind for lowborn women (in Alys case older than Aemond and in Nettles case black woman) and leaving 2 Targaryen princesses, Rhaenyra and Helaena for them. They are so delusional and don't understand one of the most important quotes of both got and hotd. Love is the death of duty.

And the thing is, H*laemond doesn't exist. It's not a thing. There is nothing there in the text or in the show that makes it a thing. It was completely made up. And I do not judge people for that, crackships are amazing and you can have tons of fun with them. But there is nothing there that says it's going to happen in the show, and folks are setting themselves up for deep disappointment. Heck, I shipped the crap out of Jonsa, but not for one solitary moment did I think it was going to happen, and a lot of my fellow shippers were convincing themselves there was subtext there that wasn't really there.

I don't understand why we can't just ship for fun rather than for canon expectations? Canon expectations takes all the fun out of it, and makes shipping a chore, and fandom is not a fun place after all. Another example is I ship Cregan and Jace, and I am writing them as a huge tragic love in my Team Green au, but do I expect them to happen? Heck no. But that doesn't stop me from shipping them and making them into whatever I want them to be.

D*emyra is another ball of wax, because I don't ship it, and I don't ship Daemon/Nettles either - even tho I am interested in their dynamic. I think folks really need to just calm down and enjoy what's there and ignore canon if it doesn't go their way. I don't really know what to say. :/

And the way fandom goes after women is just insane. The shit that Emma D'arcy got because they were non binary and not that instagram model schtick that folks were expecting. The way Gayle got hated on because she was not that tall, big boobed, willowy beauty folks were expecting. She's short, mousey, and cute as hell. And the crap that's gonna be dumped on Nettles' actress is making me cringe so hard.

What do you think about Nettles x Daeron? I’ve noticed it’s slowly becoming a thing.

That’s really random but reminds me of the post saying Nettles shipped with random male character hardly anyone knows about because they don’t want to ship her with Daemon who she actually interacts with and canonically cares about to get her “out of the way”😂. I believe most of the fandom didn’t read F&B and only knows Daeron based off asoiafwiki or whatever they hear about him in passing. They don’t really have anything in common so it’s a pretty random pair to ship.

I have two Nettles crackships though with Jace and Aemond 😂 I really only ship characters when they have something in common or interact somehow. My Jace ship is sad because she’s gonna be grieving him. Its so cute like imagine she’s broke and hungry and he gets her food or something when she comes to claim a dragon and she’s like NO I don’t need your help!! but accepts it eventually, starts to trust him then dude just dies 😭Aemond thing is just me being ridiculous since she was looking for him with Daemon lmfao. Depending on her interactions with Ulf I might ship her with his dumbass too 👀

At this point I think as a fandom, we've lost some of the crackship charm we once had. I can look up Ashara Dayne and Ser Davos and find results, But Nettles and Helaena have nothing. It's time to rectify that for my favourite girl and try to inspire some fanfics. Feel free to add more.

1. Daeron and Nettles

Think Enemies to Lovers, Captive of War drama like Jaime and Brienne or just some good old Gwen and Arthur-inspired love. Ivy by Taylor Swift coded, a She's all that inspired affair. I genuinely think that he's just trying to be there for her with this one. It happens and neither of them realise until You're in Love starts playing.

2. Baela and Nettles.

They would give the pot calling the kettle black in every argument. The Princess Bride-esque dynamic between them. Very Graham and Megan from but I'm a Cheerleader. Sapphic Pinning and Resentment should be its own genre. Sir Chloe's Michelle is my vision. We can even make a throuple with them and Jace or Alyn. Truly, I think they but heads until they kiss, building on resentment. I also think they would be the coolest couple.

3. Addam and Nettles

Kaz and Inej core.

But in all seriousness, I think Addam being loyal and Duty bound and Nettles challenging that idea is delicious. Solider of Duty x Solider for the People. A modern-day Persuasion story but gender-flipped if we put our minds to it. See you Again Kali Uchis and Tyler the Creator, that's all.

4. Nettles and Helaena

They just deserve better. That's all. Give me cottagecore sapphic romance with my best girls involves. Like the young lesbians from Barbie and the Diamond Castle. Lesbians raising kids together. Sheepstealer and Dreamfyre hatching eggs for the nieces and nephews. I just-

It would be so cool, I will by Mitski sentiment is already attached.

5. Alyn and Nettles

Now that we are here obviously she apologized for Sheepstealer, she doesn't need to but she did, He tries not to like her but can't help it. She wins him over and they hatch him an egg or something idk. Think The Princess Diaries: Royal Engagement, Mia and Nicholas, Flipped the movie if you will. Jealously plots would slay. For the song choice think Shameless Camila Cabello. Please remember that Alyn is younger than Netty by 3/4 years though.

6. Rhaena and Nettles

See now this is classic Friends to Lovers, Emma and Harriet if gay, perhaps, Bend it Like Beckham core definitely. Sofia by Clario inspired. Nettles doesn't leave Rhaena out because she's without a dragon and the same happens inverse. Sapphic confusion however, like Rhaena doesn't understand at first why she feels that way.

7. Nettles and Jace.

Now for the Mr Knightley and Emma Woodhouse of our time, the Kate and Anthony of Westeros. The potential for her just not listening to him when he tries to tell her how to ride a dragon. Or when she talks to him about the people he'll rule over eventually, Ygritte and Jon style. She's also the only bastard who doesn't look Targaryen, he can relate to that a bit. I think she's Fierce and he's Stubborn. Ungodly Hour by Chloe x Halle for them.

8. Nettles and Alys.

The Fire Witches of Westeros. I think they will be perfect as a ship. American Horror Story-esque characters. The two Witches in the story are obviously my favourites. It would be Jennifer's Body meets, the craft meets, and Suspiria. Willow by Taylor Swift becomes them.

This one was also a bonus more or less.

Anyways I just need to start to get a baseline story for my girl by the time the show gives her to us. So we have a general sense of direction, I'm tired of the mischaracterization of my baby. She's smart, resourceful, Cunning, Fearless, and not entirely loyal. She also curses, enough for it to be a character trait. Please remember this for her, I'm tired. I also know that Daemon loved her but she's too much fun as a character to limit her to him romantically in all her fanfictions, it is an interesting narrative to explore while we don't have exact answers but he gets romantic ships with anyone. She deserves more.

NETTLES CRACKSHIPS (a continuation)

Nettles and Ser Criston Cole.

Nettles flees Driftmark after claiming Sheepstealer and finds herself in King's Landing. Or Nettles is in King's Landing, and Criston is somehow there. He grows protective of her, seeing her fall into traps he did before, and in typical Criston fashion, it becomes romantic in a sense.

Nettles and Dalton Greyjoy (I'm sorry.)

Now. This is an arranged marriage as they try to appease Dalton for his help. He has 22 salt wives, and Nettles is not content, to say the least. But he's shocked by the fact that he doesn't scare her on his infamy alone. She treats him as his age, and nothing else influences her. Iron Islands reform is commencing.

Nettles and Kermit Tully.

A fun and cute au after the dance. Kermit becomes the Lord of Riverrun and is offered a dragon bride. Due to instigation by Lord Mooton (no treason), he agrees and is fascinated by the girl and her dragon.

Nettles and Hugh Hammer.

Lovers that are doomed by the narrative. They aren't made to last. Dragonstone could be fun for them, then after their first battle, they drift because she's lost so much. He's knighted, thinks he has everything he could ever want, and she pulls away, leaving him heartbroken on the path of destruction.

Aegon x Baela

Aemond x Rhaena

And with no fault of my own

Nettles x Daeron

With

Jace x Helaena being there as well

But we used to be a society that had fun.

As a personal Aemond x Baela girl (believe it or not, it was more popular when I started that fanfiction I have yet to finish), I love the crackship charm of it all. (I'm a victim of it)

I understand why all the ships above make sense, but we need to consider that crackships don't need to. I have an 80-step plan to ship Nettles with Cregan in the works.

Crackships fundamentally should rely on insanity.

So even though I'd personally never put Aegon with Rhaena or Nettles, try it out.

Jace and Rhaena, maybe, the people's rulers.

Baela and Nettles (impending)

Baela with Daeron, perhaps.

I'm not being weird about mlm ships, but I think they've all been inside each other fan fiction wise so....

Have fun with these dynamics because they are really fun.

The most devastating blows to Nettles as a character were the initial dismissal of her 'one note character' and reduction of her to her relationship to Daemon.

Initially, the balancing act was defending her, defending their relationship from dumb, unrelenting arguments based on morality (they want him to stay with his niece wife) and this underestimation of her as a character.

I think it's been done well enough overall that even though there are detractors that don't want her in the narrative, there is an understanding of how lacking the show would be without her character.

Even crackships helped this by pushing her with other characters to see how she is outside of Daemon.

It feels overall easier to like ships than it was around this time last year, and I'm almost overwhelmed looking at the change cus she's my baby and so deserving of her place in the narrative.

Though I don't like ship policing, I'm going to put this out here and leave it alone. Before anyone starts conceptualizing Jace x Nettles Fanfics, if it starts to sound like Jace could be Daniel in once on this island, cut it out.

I need us to be a bit more original than Some Girls.

We already have a Nettles infantalization thing going on. Let's be original and think of new dynamics.

Maybe she doesn't talk to anyone but the servants and that entices him to talk to her.

Maybe she's annoyed by his constant correction when training.

Maybe she brings him into the fold with the other seeds by teaching him things they would've learned growing up

Her and Baela can be really close and that causes tension in a budding romantic relationship between them.

Anything but a Forever Yours x Some Girls x When we are Wed dynamic.

Make them a throuple before resorting to that please.

Also, Nettles is older than both of them. She's only younger than Ulf and Hugh, basically and all the Green boys but Daeron. She's grown.

how do you feel about wlw ships with nettles? Like does laena/nettles speak to you or is it only male characters in asoiaf? Genuinely curious. I honestly think almost every asoiaf character is a bit fruity lmao

(P.s. I hope your family emergency wasn’t too bad, and that you’re doing well!)

Honestly it’s not a sexual orientation issue, I just straight up hate the majority of the crackships people try to thrust upon Nettles. The only one I was okay with was between her and Daeron, but then people started getting annoying with it so now I strongly dislike it.

Don’t get me started on Addam and Nettles or Nettles with Weak Boy #1 🤢

That being said Laena/Nettles isn’t bad, but Laena is a sweetheart so I doubt she (show or books) would ever get with someone who is around her girls age. If they had ever met in canon I see their relationship being more like surrogate mother/daughter or big sis little sis.

I don’t ship it, but in au setting though it could work romantically as long as Nettles is aged up to around her mid-20s.

Daemon and Nettles Headcanons. (Relationship canon)

1. He started washing her hair as a way to calm her after their flights, the baths progressed from there.

2. He realised that she would cry during the first week after seeing what Aemond had done and requested the adjoining rooms after.

3. They would trade stories over meals.

4. They started with lavish meals that Nettles couldn't stomach in Maidenpool, so he started requesting simple meals.

5. He had to encourage her to spend time with him at first. She would just stay in her room until he started pushing for her company, by the end they were inseparable.

6. He accompanied her to all the fitings for the clothes she got when he taught her how to dress, much to the confusion of the seamstress.

7. Lord Mooton did try to bring up potential marriages for Nettles, Daemon got defensive and insulted every man while Nettles compared his every insult to something he had mentioned he had done. Example: 'Dalton Greyjoy has 22 salt wives and no need for a dragonrider in his company.' 'Some men have two dragonriders for wives, one after the other without questions.'

8. Lord Mooton had Maester Norren ask Nettles if she had use for moon tea. When she kept insisting for a reason for the suggestion, he dropped it entirely and said she took it without hesitation.

9. She has a fondness for Lady Rhea from his stories and never allows for Daemon to bad mouth her.

10. He was teaching her everything about politics that he knew for when they had to return,so if something happened, she wouldn't depend on anyone to navigate King’s Landing.

11. She doesn't feel entitled to Sheepstealer, so she gives him a sheep for his obedience every day. He thinks it's absolutely ridiculous belief.

12. They argued about the possibility of her being a dragonrider but not a Targaryen. She did it to mess with him, but it's an underlying thought she has.

13. Lord Mooton ensured that she saw Jonquil's pool, much to Daemon's hesitation.

14. Lord Mooton tried to get Nettles a Septa, Daemon was hesitant, but after three lessons, the Septa had enough and left her alone.

15. Nettles tends to hum songs from Driftmark she picked up, and although he doesn't like the trait, it does remind him of Laena, Baela, and Rhaena.

16. She told Daemon the way she got the scar, he just didn't believe her because she had given him so many different stories before.

17. Sheepstealer and Caraxes became close before they did, Caraxes would seek Sheepstealer out in King's Landing.

18. It was a coincidence that they both ended up at Maidenpool. He volunteered, Rhaenyra said he needed someone, and she suggested Nettles after seeing her reaction after the Gullet and how it continued in King's Landing.

19. All the clothes he has made for her has some variation of the Targaryen sigil in brown leather or red.

20.He started teaching her how to do things properly as a way to reinforce the sentiment that she'd make it out and have use for it

21. The maids started gossiping because they would both have wet hair, changed clothes, and looked clean after they would draw one bath.

22. The meals started as a way to ensure she'd eat before and after their flights because during their first week they rarely would.

23. He was shocked to find she knew some variations of Valyrian being from Driftmark but by the end of their stay she was almost fluent.

24. They never had sexual relations in her room

25. She wasn't a virgin when they did have sex. He didn't think she was but was still surprised.

26. The clothes issue was only pushed because she started wearing his shirts to kill sheep.

27. He kissed her first but she was the one who initiated the sexual relationship.

28. All of the gifts she got came by making small jokes about minor inconveniences and him taking it seriously

29. Caraxes loves her, but Sheepstealer is hesitant towards Daemon.

30. She isn't very respectful past his titles. He doesn't go out of his way to correct her or assert authority.

31. Anytime he'd complain about her hair being wild, she'd have him style it in an acceptable way that she'd copy until she didn't want to.

32. She has a strange hesitation against killing small animals, something he finds strange seeing as she slaughters sheep every morning

33. They had a compromise at one point that if she had to eat fish, he'd have to eat porridge (she doesn't need to eat fish)

34. He'd started joking that she had pulled some sort of spell over him long before the letter. This was because he'd rarely ever say no to her.

35. They helped each other through the grief of the war. That was how they got so close.

As we all know “the dragon has three heads.” Those heads manifest in the crackship that is Dettmond/Aettles(?) otherwise known as Daemon x Nettles x Aemond. *I swear I can see this happening lol* *I’m being so unserious*

🤣It does have potential. In some alternate universe, Aemond kidnapped Nettles. Daemon loses his mind and starts hunting Aemond down. Nettles is surprised by Aemond’s kindness. Aemond is surprised he starts falling for her. Daemon finds them. The two try to duke it out and for some reason, both reluctantly agree to share Nettles(who wants them both now and who totally uses the dragon has three heads argument).

They stage the Battle Above the Gods Eye, fake their deaths, and then they all go riding off into the sunset together to start a new Valyria in the mountains of the moon 🏔️
