As Soon As I Can
Nestor Oceteva x F!Reader
Request from @alienstardust:  Umm All the angst in those childhood prompts. I’m a fan! Yes! <3 Maybe something with Nestor? 💫 thank you
I went with this prompt from This Post: When Person A and Person B were kids, Person A broke their arm and had to wear a cast for a while. To make them feel better, Person B decorated it by drawing a bunch of doodles and quotes all over it. When Person A finally got the cast off, they asked the doctor if they could keep it. Years later, Person A takes the cast to a tattoo artist and gets all of Person B’s doodles and quotes tattooed onto their arm so they can wear them forever.
Warnings: language, angst, hospitals
Word Count: 3.8k
A/N: I looooooved writing this. Writing has been tough for me lately but this just felt really right. This is my first fic where I’ve done a lot of time skips within the story so hopefully it flows alright. Hope you guys enjoy! xo

You and Nestor were sitting in your back yard, sprawled out together under the one tree that managed to survive so many years in the California heat. You were laying on your back, cast-bound arm lying rigidly out to the side. You were staring up through the leaves as you listened to Nestor talk.
“At least they let you pick the color,” he was next to you, laying on his stomach as he dug through his backpack.
You laugh was heavy with sarcasm, “Yea, if I’m not gonna be able to move my arm for the next eight weeks it’s the least they could fucking do.”
“You sound bitter.”
You looked over at him, “I am bitter.”
He chuckled and shook his head, he was about to come back with a witty remark when he got distracted by finding whatever he had been looking for. He smiled as he pulled it out, “Aha!” he held up his pack of Sharpies.
“What’re those for?” you nodded towards the markers.
“For your cast.”
“You’re gonna decorate my cast?” you had to laugh.
“Yea,” he was carefully choosing a few different markers to start with, “Maybe it’ll make you feel better about totally eating it falling off your skateboard the other day.”
You laughed as you reached over and shoved him with your good arm, “Shut up—like you haven’t fallen a million times.”
“No casts for me, though,” there was a cocky smirk on his face.
“No casts for me, though,” you mocked as you tried not to laugh.
You watched him in semi-silence as he started at your wrist and slowly but surely made his way up your cast, covering it with all sorts of doodles and quotes. Sometimes you forgot how artistic he could be. You went back and forth between watching him and just resting your head back and closing your eyes. Neither of you kept track of the time as he stayed sprawled on his stomach beside you. the two of you probably would’ve stayed out until dark if your mom hadn’t stuck her head out and said that Nestor’s brother was there to pick him up and bring him home. Nestor threw all of his things back into his bag before helping you up.
Once he was gone, you took some time to actually look at the cast. You smiled at the amount of work he put into something that you were only going to have for a couple months. Your fingers traced lightly over the many marker lines that now covered your cast. Your mother looked over your shoulder at the artwork, a smile passing over her lips for a moment.
“Did Nestor do that?”
You nodded, not taking your eyes off of your arm, “Yea.”
She nodded, “That was sweet of him.”
You scoffed trying to suppress the smile on your face, “I guess.”
The next eight weeks passed by. And, despite the fact that having your arm in a cast was incredibly inconvenient, it could have been a lot worse. Nestor walked with you to all of your classes, offering to carry your backpack despite the fact that you told him that your busted arm had nothing to do with your ability to carry a bag. Whenever the two of you were together and things were quiet, he would keep adding onto the tiny mural that was your cast. Sometimes you wondered how much more he could fit on it, but he always found a way. For as much as you wanted it off, you were going to miss the bonding time for the two of you. And you were going to miss the artwork, too.
“So,” the doctor smiled and nodded at you, “you are all good to go. We can get the cast off and you’ll be as good as new.”
“Yea?” the thought of having your arm back made you feel giddy.
“Absolutely.”
You felt like a new person once your arm was free of the confines of the cast. Letting out a sigh of relief, you rotated your wrist a few times and carefully ran your fingers over the freshly-exposed skin, glad to feel like you were back in control of your own body.
“I can get rid of this,” your doctor held up the cast he’d just finished so carefully removing, “Unless you want to keep it as a momento.”
“Um, actually,” you felt your face heating up as you avoided eye contact with your mother, “Could I keep it?”
The doctor nodded, smiling as he handed it over to you, “It’s quite the work of art at this point—I understand wanting to hold onto it.”
On the drive home, you felt your mother glancing over at you every couple of minutes, a knowing smile on her face. You tried to ignore it but eventually you broke.
“What?” you were careful of your tone.
She laughed quietly and shook her head, “Nothing. Just, I think it’s nice that you’re keeping it, that’s all.”
“Mhm,” you tried to ignore the heat rising in your cheeks again, but that only made it worse.
You never told Nestor that you kept the cast. You never really knew exactly why you didn’t tell him—the two of you told each other pretty much everything else. The two of you spent almost all of your free time together, and as soon as he found out that your cast had been removed he was dragging you right back out to do things that could potentially break your arm all over again, and you let him. He never asked about the cast, so you never brought it up. There were moments, as the two of you got a little older, where you wanted to mention it to him in passing that it was something that you kept, but the moment never seemed quite right. Each time you went to clean out your room and your closet you would come across it, and each time you were faced with the decision of whether or not you wanted to keep it, and you always did. You always told yourself that you didn’t know why, but you knew.
--
“Alright,” you were trying not to let yourself get too emotional as you sat cross-legged on his bed watching him pack “You can’t do anything stupid while I’m not around to yell at you for it, alright?”
He chuckled as he shoved another shirt into his bag, “Trust me, there will be plenty of other people around to yell at me. That’s the whole point of—”
“But they can’t do it as well as I can.”
He glanced over at you, a small smile on his face. He knew how upset you were despite the fact that you were still being supportive. Him going into the Navy was something that you hadn’t seen coming. The thought of him being gone for so long after the two of you had spent so much of your lives practically joined at the hip was a bit jarring. You knew the ache in your chest was caused by more feelings than you were ready to admit to him, or to yourself.
“It’s not like you’ll never hear from me.”
You huffed, “Snail mail is not the same as bothering you in person,” you flopped backwards on the bed, “And for the record I still think it’s bullshit that you don’t get to call me.”
He laughed as he stood up and sat on the bed, looking down at you, “Don’t be dramatic. I’ll be in basic for less time than you had that stupid cast on your arm.”
“Yea but it’s not like you’re coming right home after that.”
He nodded, his expression sobering a little as he continued to look at you, “I know.”
“You’ll come home to visit me as soon as you can?”
He chuckled, nodding, “As soon as I can.”
For a moment you thought about spilling your guts—telling him everything that you were thinking and feeling. There was something about the way that he was looking at you that made you feel like maybe he felt the same way. But the confidence that shot through you went away as quickly as it appeared, and the moment passed as he continued to pack his things.
True to his word, you got letters in the mail. You saved each one, kept them stashed away in your closet alongside the cast that was still there collecting dust even after years of being shuffled around. You sent more letters than you received, not that you really minded. You figured that he needed them more than you did.
However as the months ticked by, you waited for him to say he was coming home, but he never did. It was one thing right into the next and the more time that passed by, the more you wondered if this was how he slipped away from you, even though he swore that that wouldn’t happen. He reached out when he could, when he had the time. And you knew that he had other priorities, and realistically you did too. But there was still part of you that felt like things were changing too much.
Your heart sped up inside your chest when you got a late-night phone call from him. You scrambled to answer it, “Hello?”
“Hey,” he sounded exhausted.
“Hey,” you pulled your blanket up to your chin as you spoke to him, “H-how are you?”
“I’m alright,” he sighed, “It’s good to hear your voice.”
You smiled despite the weight settling in your chest, “It’s good to hear yours too. I miss you.”
“I miss you too.”
You didn’t want to push and pry, but you couldn’t help asking, “When are you coming home?”
There was a long pause before he spoke up again, “I, uh, I don’t really know.”
“Don’t they give you guys leave or something?”
He let out a tired chuckle, “Yea. But, um, I’m not sure if I’m going to be coming home for leave anytime soon.”
Your heart crumped inside your chest, “Why not?”
“Got some shit that I’m working on lining up here. Doesn’t hurt to stay close.”
You hated that your bottom lip was beginning to tremble, “Right.”
He knew you too well and you could hear the shift in his tone, “I’m sorry.”
“No, no,” you replied immediately, “Fuck, don’t be sorry. I’m proud of you, really. Keep…keep doing your thing.”
“Thank you for always being there. It’s been…it’s been nice knowing someone is in my corner when no one else seems to be,” there was a beat of silence, “You seen my family lately?”
You took a deep breath, “No. Why, everything alright?”
He sighed, “Wouldn’t know.”
You pressed your lips together into a tight line—things had never been simple for him when it came to family, “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be. I’ll be home to see you as soon as I can be, alright?”
Your breath was shaky as you exhaled, “Alright,” you were about to say goodbye but your brain betrayed you, “Hey, Nestor?”
“Yea?”
“I love you,” the words fell from your lips, free of their confines after so many years of locking them away.
It might’ve been you projecting, but you could’ve sworn that he let out a sigh of relief, “I love you too.”
--
That was the last thing that you’d heard from him. He went radio silent after that. You wondered if it was just you that he was ignoring, but no one seemed to have heard anything from him—his own family included. The only things that were running through your mind were terrible. All of your calls went unanswered, all of your texts went unopened. The letters that you sent didn’t get kicked back to you but you never got responses to any of them either. He had blipped off the radar seemingly without a trace and you had no idea why. You lost a lot of sleep over it but at the same time, life didn’t stop for anyone. You had to keep moving forward while a very large part of you was stuck in the past.
You were packing up your room, getting ready to move into your own apartment. You were throwing things from your closet into random bags and boxes—organization had never been your strong suit. As you were leafing through everything, pulling things down off the top shelf of your closet, you were smacked in the face with a stack of papers. You managed to catch them before they hit the ground, tears instantly springing into your eyes when you realized what they were. Your heart sped up inside your chest as you stood on your tip-toes, reaching for the very back of the shelf. The feeling of the plaster underneath your fingers sent a shock through your body as you pulled it towards you. Looking over it, you were bombarded with an onslaught of memories.
Packing fell by the wayside as you sat on your bed, reading through the letters and looking over all the artwork that was still holding up on the cast. How you managed to keep your tears from falling, you didn’t know.
There was a light knock on your door and you looked up, trying to make yourself look much less upset than you were. The smile immediately dropped from your mother’s face when she saw what you were doing, how it was upsetting you. She leaned against the doorframe as she tried to figure out what to say to you to try and make things better.
“I’m sorry, honey,” her tone was sincere.
You shook your head as you set your cast to the side, “Don’t be. You don’t have anything to be sorry for.”
“Do you want to talk about it?”
You hadn’t really spoken much to her about it all—there wasn’t a whole lot to say. You didn’t have any answers and with each day that went by it was less likely that you would ever get them. It was difficult to tell whether or not it was more reassuring for you that no one had heard from him, not just you.
“There’s nothing to talk about. He just fucking disappeared, I guess. I just need to accept it and get on with my life.”
“He was your best friend—you’re allowed to be upset about it, you know.”
Even though you knew it, it was nice to hear her say it to you. Wiping the tears from your eyes before they could stain your cheeks, you nodded, “I know.”
She lightly drummed her fingers on the door frame, “You keeping those?”
There was a long pause before you finally nodded, “I think so.”
She nodded, “I’ll go grab you another box.”
--
“This thing looks like it’s been through the wringer,” your tattoo artist chuckled as she looked over the cast you’d brought with you.
You managed a smile, “Because it has. I’ve had that thing since I was in, fucking, like eighth grade I think? Long time.”
“What made you decide to get this done now?”
You shrugged, “I don’t know. Figured it’ll be better than moving it from one closet to the next over the course of my life.”
You could tell by the look on her face, that she wanted to ask for the story behind it all. But the fact that you didn’t offer it up, made her not pry. You’d always been open so if you were keeping something to yourself, she respected that. The two of you talked about the logistics of it, and the changes you want to make to clean it up a little bit. You were excited to come back and get it done, though.
Despite the wait, your excitement and nervousness about coming back didn’t fade. You didn’t regret the decision, but it was still nerve-wracking as you got ready to sit down in the chair. She had you look over the pattern she’d drawn up, and when you gave her the okay she laid the stencil out on your arm and got to work. You watched her as she brought it all to life—it was a little cleaner and more grown-up than the original scribbles and doodles, but it felt right. Tears stung at the edges of your eyes but it wasn’t because of the physical pain of getting the tattoo.
She was wrapping it up in saranwrap as she gave you the run-down of taking care of the tattoo. You’d heard the spiel before but you still listened anyway. You had a hard time taking your eyes off of the artwork as you made your way back out to your car. Sitting down in the driver’s seat, you let out a sigh as you tried to inspect the ink as best you could through the wrap around your arm.
The next day, you were putting on a fresh wrap over your tattoo after your shower when you heard your phone buzzing in the next room. With a heavy sigh, you slapped a piece of tape onto the wrap and scrambled to get to your phone before you missed the call. Looking down at the screen, you didn’t recognize the number. But it was an off-hour for a scammer to be calling so you answered it on a whim. Worst case scenario you would just hang up.
“Hello?”
“Hi, my name is Rita and I work at Imperial Hospital. I’m looking for Ms. Y/N?”
“Um, speaking?” you had no idea where this was going.
“Good morning. Someone was admitted and you are their only emergency contact—no next of kin listed. Do you know a Mr. Nestor Oceteva?”
Your heart dropped into your stomach, “Yes,” you couldn’t get the words out fast enough, “Yes I do. Is he alright?”
“He’s going to be fine,” her tone was calm enough to give you the smallest sliver of reassurance, “But we do need you to come in and answer some questions for us. He’s been in and out of it and we need someone who can give us reliable information.”
“O-okay. Yea. Yea I’ll leave right now. It’ll be about an hour or so before I get there though. Is that alright? He’s going to be okay?”
“Yes, ma’am. He’s going to be fine. Thank you so much for your cooperation.”
You hung up the phone and started flying around your apartment to get ready. You had no idea what you were about to be walking into but at this point you didn’t care. All these years you’ve been wondering about him and he was two towns over. You were as angry as you were relieved.
The line of questions that the nurses asked you seemed endless. You knew that it was all important but there was nothing that you wanted more than to be in the room and see that it really was him, that this wasn’t just some cruel trick from the universe.
Finally, the nurse started walking you back. You only heard half of what she was saying to you about his condition as the two of you approached the room. You heard that he was stable and the rest didn’t really matter to you. your hands were trembling as she gestured to the door to his room, telling you that she would give you a few minutes to yourselves.
You slowly opened the door and a sob lodged itself in your throat as you looked at him. He was passed out, whether the sleep was genuine or from the meds you didn’t know. Truthfully, it was almost difficult to see that it was the Nestor you knew and loved—but you could still see it. Underneath the cuts and scrapes, beneath the braids and the tattoos, there was still your Nestor. The man you knew all those years ago was somewhere underneath it all.
Walking over, you collapsed in the chair next to his bed. You reached out and took his hand in your own, seeing the scars and scabs that covered his knuckles. Whatever he’d been doing all those years, it wasn’t treating him well. You let out a shaky breath as the tears started to fall. You tried to keep your emotions bottled up and quiet, but you couldn’t. There were too many there that you had been battling with and pushing down over the years.
Your crying made him stir. With a quiet groan of pain he opened his eyes and turned to look and see who was in the room with him. His entire body went stiff as his eyes flew completely open, unable to believe that you were sitting there with him.
“H-holy shit,” he coughed, trying to sit up, “Y/N?”
He was conscious and able to speak, so you punched him in the upper arm, “As soon as I can my ass, Nestor.”
He winced and smiled, and you could see all of the motions in his eyes, “I’m…I’m sorry.”
“You fucking should be.”
“I am.”
“Good.”
There were a few beats of silence and then he heard the crinkling of the wrap on your arm as you crossed them and he nodded towards it, “Fresh?”
Heat instantly flooded to your face and you fought the urge to get up and run out of the room, “Got it yesterday.”
“Can I see?”
You hated that he was talking to you like everything was normal, but you couldn’t lie and said that you didn’t miss it. Taking a deep breath, you laid your arm down on the hospital bed for him to inspect. A smile instantly took over his features when he saw what it was. He looked up at you, and when he saw the happiness and hurt both in your expression, his smile dulled a little bit.
“I’m so sorry.”
“What the fuck, Nestor?”
“I know, I know. I should’ve said something.”
“Uh…yea.”
“When they let me out of here, will you let me take you somewhere and tell you all about it?”
“I mean. I guess. But only because I’m nosey,” you managed a smile through the tears.
“I love you.”
The words made your heart skip a beat in your chest, “I love you too.”
“That’s way less clunky than a cast,” he tapped the plastic wrap.
You smiled, wiping the tears away, “Yea, I guess so.”
“I can’t believe you still have the same number after all these years.”
You paused, looking down at your hands, “I kept it in case your ass decided to smarten up and call me one of these days.”
“Hospital calling you on my behalf doesn’t count?”
You narrowed your eyes at him, “No. No it doesn’t.”
He reached over and clasped your hand in his, “I’m really glad that you’re here.”
With a deep sigh, you leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to the side of his forehead, careful to miss all the scrapes, “Me too.”
There was so much more to be said, but it could wait. You tried to soak up the feeling of his hand over yours, smiles appearing on both of your faces despite the lost time and the gravity of the situation. A lot of things had changed, but as you felt the heat from his palm and the way his thumb traced back and forth over your hand, you knew the important things were still exactly the same.

“First Impressions” Part: 5 (Damirae)
Damian was glad his school day had finally ended. He was grateful he didn’t have to stay after for study groups, all he wanted was to be in his room and polish his sword. That was one of his favorite past times, his grandfather was an excellent swordsman though his father didn’t agree at it first he allowed Damian to receive lessons from his grandfather. Lessons in which were quoted as ‘self-defense,’ being a Wayne and the heir to his father’s company could one day misfortunes in which someone could try taking his life for money. His own father had to deal with similar hardships in the past and made sure his children received training in protecting themselves. Bruce had just hoped Damian had been taught by someone else, other than Ra’s Al Ghul.
Damian stretched out as much as he could in the limousine, while Alfred drove them back to the manor. He looked out the window, in four months he was going to graduate from Gotham Academy, then go off to Gotham University. Time seemed to pass more quickly now, before he even realizes it, he will be named CEO of Wayne Industries. His life goal’s, for the past few months he been debating if he could maybe have more than just inheriting his father’s company. Damian may never say it out load or even speak to his family about it, but Damian dreamed of having a family of his own. A wife and children, he would give his life for. Damian closed his eyes for a moment and just imagined what his future could be, and then she appeared. Raven.
The young Wayne unlocked his phone and opened up his photo gallery. He scrolled down to find the picture he had taken that one winter night. Raven had dared him to take a picture of their drinks together. It was silly thing but for her, Damian would do anything. Raven had been standing so close trying to make sure he got a perfect shot, at some pint Damian wanted to tell her she could lean onto his shoulder for comfort. But that idea quickly died.
Damian sighed, making Alfred look at him from the rearview mirror. “Everything alright, Master Damian?”
“Just lost in thought, nothing to concern yourself with Pennyworth.”
“Alright then. By any chance are you going to work on any school assignments when we arrive?”
“I finished every assignment already, I wanted to keep my weekend free so I can focus on other matters.”
“So, I assume you will be free?” Alfred shot Damian a quick glance over the rearview mirror again and the young Wayne only nodded at him. “I was wondering if you would help me with a small favor Miss Cass had left me with before she had left to buy some items for tonight.”
Damian didn’t want to do some chore Cass should had taken care herself instead handing it off to Alfred. “Sure, what would you like me to help in?”
“If you could help me entertain Miss Raven, till your sisters arrived?”
What?
Raven was at the manor? Well that changes things. Damian did everything he could so he wouldn’t start grinning. Now that, would cause Alfred to question why the mention of his sisters’ friend would please him so much.
When they arrived at the manor, Damian literally sprinted the steps towards the main doors. He speed-walked towards his room and threwhis bagpack not caring wherever it landed. Not wanting to waste any time, he didn’t bother changing out of his school uniform and ran to the one place he would always find Raven cooped up. The manor’s library. As he neared, he started slowing his pace as thousand thoughts bashed one another in his mind, what could they converse? Could they read a book together, could they talk about how their week had gone by, or-
Damian stopped when he heard that little battle tune, he knew too well thanks to Jon. He peeked his head from the doorway and found Raven cross-legged on a couch, looking down at her phone as she cursed under her breath. The game she was playing announced her hero had been slain, she let out an annoyed grunt and moved to place a lock of her hair behind her ear.
Damian came in and leaned against the doorway crossing his arms. Raven hadn’t noticed his presence just yet as she went to continue playing. She looked so cute. She was dressed in black tights and a navy-blue skirt, with a tucked in long button-white sleeve. Damian had to contain a chuckled when he noticed Raven was wearing miss-match socks. He liked the idea that Raven felt safe and comfortable to be in Wayne Manor, feel she can be herself with his whole family. Damian looked up when he heard Raven cursed again when the game announced she been slain again.
“I wouldn’t have imagined you be a gamer.” Damian said so calmly.
Raven looked up from her phone, “oh, hi Damian. I’m not much a gamer but Jon kind of got me into this game.” Damian could had sworn he saw her cheeks just flush a little. Raven sighed heavily in defeat, she looked up to Damian as he raised a brow. “Actually, I hear you’re a good assassin so maybe you can help me with my assassin hero? I keep getting myself killed.”
“My pleasure.” Damian walked over and watched as Raven scooted so he could sit down. Damian had to hold his breath in to make sure he still was in control of his body. He was afraid he start turning red or worse his heart would beat so loudly all of Gotham would know his secret affection towards her. Damian carefully took Raven’s phone and looked at what she was planning to do with this particular hero. “Well first mistake you did was you didn’t choose the correct battle spell; assassins rely on jungle in order to build quickly and cause more damage.”
“So, this spell is useless for her?”
“Somewhat, you used a spell that mainly used by mages and supports. What were you planning to build?”
“Cut me some slack! I normally mage so I had no idea what would be best!” Raven lightly punched his shoulder as she watched him sell some of the items she had previously build and prioritize buying other items.
“Next time build for these items; this one specifically will help you greatly to deal more damage and make use of her passive, she deals allot of damage when she is in stealth.” Damian demonstrated the assassin’s passive and gaining him a kill, a player from the enemy side got neared hoping to avenge their fallen comrade. Damian activated the assassin’s ultimate skill with little health, but now with greater power output was able to kill the enemy hero.
“You’re a better teacher than Jon. Thanks Damian.”
“I’m surprised you think so, Jon was actually the one to get me into this game.” Damian peeked over to find Raven was awfully close to him. He cleared his throat, “are you’re here for a sleepover?”
“Mm.” Raven continue to lean closer, her head was practically laying on his shoulder now. Damian was praying his face wouldn’t flush or that she wouldn’t hear his heart wanting to beat loudly. “Can I actually confess something to you?”
Damian helped the team win the match, he then handed Raven back her phone so she could receive her awards. “Please go ahead.”
“I am not sure if I will be welcomed after today.” Raven said silently, “when your sisters arrive, I plan to tell them the truth about Jasper Sky. I’m afraid they may get very upset with me and not want to be friends anymore. Which I understand, I did lie to them.” Raven turned off her phone and stared straight ahead, lost in thought.
Damian could tell this scared her, he didn’t know if she needed this from him, but he had to let her know she wouldn’t lose everything after today. He wanted to make sure Raven knew she still had a friend. “I will be your friend, so you still have me. Besides, if you tell them the truth and explain why you had to invent the perfect boyfriend like Jasper Sky, I’m sure they will understand. My sisters aren’t the type to hold grudges.”
“I hope you’re right, I like being friends with your sisters and… I like being your friend too. Damian, I want you to know that I am here for you as well. So, don’t hesitate in asking me for help.”
Damian could only nod at her, Raven turned her phone back on, she clicked a tab that allowed her to view the builds for each of the hero’s she played with. Damian watched her save the build he had built for her and saving it. He could only continue stare at her. Realization kicked in. Damian needed to tell her, now more than ever he needed to come clean of his own feelings for her. “Raven I-”
“We’re home!” Stephanie called out down from the hallway. Great his sisters were home.He almost had the chance to, to what? Tell Raven he loved her right before she may lose two friends? What was going on in his mind?!
“Rae-rae where are you?” Stephanie called out again somewhere down the hallway.
“She’s here Steph!” Both Damian and Raven looked up to find Cass at the doorway, holding plastic bags filled to the brim with facials masks and other cosmetics Damian assumed were for their sleepover. “Rae, I hope you’re excited for our slumber party! Sorry Dami no boys allowed. Well unless you let us give you a complete makeover.”
“Not in a million years.” Damian said so sternly.
“C’mon Rae, let’s get this party started!” Cass shouted cheerfully and she did a little wiggling dance with the bags swaying back and forth.
Raven exited the game and opened the messaging application, “I will be there in a bit, let me just send my mom a quick text and let her know that you guys arrived already.”
“No problem, Steph and I will get my room set-up. Don’t take too long.”
Damian watched his sister exit and then turned to watch Raven smile turn into a frown. “You okay?”
Raven clicked send to a message she had previously written out, she then looked up to him. Her amethyst eyes were on the brink of shedding tears. “Can you be there? I mean can you wait outside in case it goes bad and I lose them as friends? I don’t think I will be able to do this alone and I-”
“Raven.” Damian went and grabbed her hands in his. He gave her a gentle smile before pulling her in. He let go one hand and wrapped it around her back, pressing Raven tightly against him. “I am here for you.”
Raven whimpered and was clearly fighting off her tears. She was able to wriggle one hand free and wrap it around him tightly. “Thank you, Damian.”

A/N: I hoped you all enjoyed this update. Again we are drawing near to the end to “First Impressions”. I am very excited to share with you all what I have planned for this particular fic. What started out as a one-shot turned to multiple parts. Anyone wondering the mobile game I been referencing is called “Mobile Legends” (I am currently very much into 😅) Next update will be for “Under an Autumn Moonlight” and afterwards the first two chapters for my Dark Robin Au Fic.
Till next time and thank you all for reading!

Jean‘s first Winter Barquet without the Ravens
look i have this in my head for a while now, so i thought i might as well share it with you guys!! i have absolutely no idea where this is going, guess will find out:) jerejan isn‘t a thing yet in this headcanon, but please keep in mind that they ARE in love,,, we will see where they‘re going,,, also please keep in mind that i never took french so if the french terms are wrong i‘m sorry <33
jean only owns the suits he was forced to wear with the ravens. obviously he had no time to take it with him and no one would bother to give him the few things he actually owned back, so he has nothing to wear
as he has a mental breakdown because the thought of meeting his ex-teammates alone gives him anxiety jeremy walks in, smiling softly as he asks „so i guess we should get you a nice suit for tonight. are you bringing someone by the way?“
the moment he sees jean on the floor he goes over to him and sits down next to him on the floor
„is there something that would make you feel better?“ jeremy asks quietly. „need a hug? or something else?“
jean just holds out his hand, a silent question jer quickly answers by taking his hand and softly squeezing it
„we got this dude, don‘t worry i‘ll keep you safe“ jeremy whispers as jean is trying to stop his sobs
„how exactly do you plan to stop them?“ jean asks, with a thick french accent he gets when his panic attacks are especially bad
„oh, a man never tells his secrets. you will see when we need to find out“, jeremy laughs.
they stay in that position for a while before slowly getting up to go to the mall to get jean a suit
when they sit in the car and jeremy‘s about to start his car he asks jean if it‘s okay to listen to music, or if he‘d rather have it quiet
„music, because quiet reminds me of them“, jean whispers, ashamed that he would allow to show weakness to his captain
„music it is my dude“, jeremy says and puts on his french playlist. „thought you might like that“, he looks flashing a grin at jean
jer obviously knew jean liked it, jean told jer about his love to music/ french music when they started talking, he told him it calms him down
jean just puts his head against the window, looking at nothing in peticular
at the mall they go into the first store who sells suits (because they‘re slightly stressed to make it back in time, they‘re both masters in procastination)
„okay so i thought of something, cause shopping for clothes is always super boring. so we both choose something for the other person and try it on together. you don‘t have to take my choice but you have to at least try it on“
„but you have terrible taste, jeremy. terrible“
„well than you can only improve the way i look, can‘t you?“, jer replies with a wink, „and my taste is perfectly fine“
jean doesn‘t reply to that, as the only thought in his head „everything is perfect about you, everything but the way you dress“, but he will not say such things to his captain
jeremy takes his lack of an answer as a yes and disappears to look for suits
sharing a dom for a few months and the fact that jer leaves his stuff lying around jean knows jer‘s size
not that he would be interested in jeremy, not that he would spend hours on end thinking about his captain
jean picks out a navy blue suit and a light grey bow tie which happens to have the exact same color as his eyes
slowly he goes looking for jeremy, who waits for him in front of the dressing rooms with his characteristic toothy grin
„okay show me what you got“, jer says when jean is within earshot
jean hands his finding over without a word - blushing a bit
jer takes it, hands jean a suit and diappears in the changinng room
jean slowly goes in the one next to jer and changes in the suit jer gave him
once he‘s done he looks at himself in the mirror
jeremy chose a light grey suit with a navy blue suit
they unintentionally match
when jean leaves the changin room, jer is already waiting, happily chatting with an employee about the exy season
he stands there awkwardly looking at jeremy, not saying a thing, until jeremey turns around and notices him
jeremy gives him a once over and nods satisfied with himself
„we‘re matching, i like that“, he says softly, blushing
„i have to admit, this is not as terrible as i thought it would end up to be. you look faboulous, no wonder when i pick out your outfit“
„well, you look rad as fuck my dude. you‘re definetly buying that, well not you but coach. coach told me to get us some nice suits, apparently the one i own is - i quote - ‚a unnecessary threat to society‘“
„he isn‘t wrong though“, jean says, a small smile on his lips.
„holy shit you‘re smiling, i either said something unbelieveable stupid or funny. i thought i had to talk french again to make you feel better“
jeremy took french as soon as he knew jean would come to the trojans so he could talk to jean in private, if needed to
„please don‘t. your french is terrible“, jean replies, his smile only getting bigger at the thought of jer‘s terrible pronounciation
„hey“, jer says jokingly offended
they change back in their regular clothes, pay the suits and head back to their dorm
„you wanna listen to that french music while we pack for tonight?“, jeremy asks quitely when they close their dorm door behind them
jean can only nod, his panic slowly growing
on the way to palmetto state - where the winter barquet will take place this year - jeremy sits next to jean
when jer notices jean getting nervouse/ anxiouse he offers him his hand
„my mom used to hold my hand when i was anxious, said she‘d keep me safe. thought it might help you as well“, jer is blushing again, avoiding jean‘s eyes
jean takes jer‘s hand without comment, thinking how soft they are over and over and over again
„why didn‘t you bring a date? i bet the ladies would kill someone to go on an event like that with a guy like you?“, jean asks jeremy in a sorry try to distract himself from the ever rising anxiety
„i‘m not into girls, first of all. and secondly i might like someone who would not be ready to with me there and i will not force them to do anything when they are clearly not ready“
jean pretty much stopped paying attention when jeremey said he was into guys
„what do you mean by ‚a guy like me‘?“, jer asks winking
„oh you know, unbelieveably annoying, decent looking, kind. isn‘t that what girls are into these days? i wouldn‘t know, all we got to be interested in was exy, exy, exy“, jean whispered, blushing
„annoying, huh?“, jer laughed.
jean didn‘t know what to reply so he decieded to stare out the window - definetly NOT thinking about how beautiful jeremy‘s eyes look in the stupid light of the bus
„hey wanna listen to the french music again? someone told me lately that my pronunciation is shit, so i need to listen to it anyways as this french guy won‘t help me out. we can share my headphones if you want?“
jean had never seen jeremy so shy, and he had to admit jer is even more adorable and attractive that way
not that jean would pay that much attention to jeremy knox
jean just nods unable to form a word, yet a sentence
when he put the headphone in his ear, he leans his head against the window and shortly after that falls asleep
when they arrived at palmetto state, jer wakes jean up softly
jean didn‘t let go of jer‘s hand - his grip only tightening- until they reached the home locker room where they would put their stuff and get changed for the barquet
„don‘t worry, i will keep you safe. i will punch anyone who looks at you funny“, jeremy whispers to jean when jean struggled to close the buttons of his shirt
jean‘s hand wouldn‘t stop shaking so jeremy closed the buttons of jean‘s shirt for him
jean suddenly gets very inappropriate thoughts while silently watching jer buttoning his shirt
„ready.“ jean answers, taking jer‘s hand
„ready?“ jer asks, holding out his hand, when they are changed
as soon as they entered the court jean looks for renee, in order to Not Look at the raven‘s table
obviously renee would spot him immediatly and drag her girlfriend alison with her to greet him
renee hugs him tightly completly ignoring jeremy
„i missed you, skyping just isn‘t enough j. you gotta visit me sometime. anyways i asked wymack to sit the foxes and the trojans together, so you can sit with me and tell me everything“, she said softly against his chest with a grin on her face.
jean isn‘t used to people being happy to see him so he is lowkey overwhelemed
„o- okay, but you gotta let me go first“
renee lets go almost immediatly, taking his other hand
it‘s only then that she notices jeremy
„oh god you two are matching, alison look they are matching“, she says excitedly
but alison only has eyes for her gorgeous girlfriend
jeremy laughs quietly while renee drags them to their seats
jean takes the place next to renee, jeremey sits next him, across from jean sits matt boyd, to matt‘s left kevin day and to matt‘s righ is dan
jean only focuses on renee though
they talk about school, their free time activities, the exy season, renee‘s plans for when she‘s done with college
jean does not let go of jeremy‘s hand until dinner arrives
they eat in silence, everyone‘s too busy with the delicous food
after everyone‘s done with dinner the tables are getting moved to the sides of the court, christmas music starts to play, someone brings the punch in and everyone starts to socialise
people are bringing their dates on the dance floor to slow dance under the mistletoes
„do you, uhm, do you maybe wanna dance with me?“, jer asks aggressivly blushing
„you wanna dance with me? what would the person you talked about on the bus would say to that?“, jean answers, having had a punch or two too much to calm his nerves
„that‘s what i‘m trying to find out right now actually“, jeremy replies shyly
„wait i‘m the mysterious guy you like? why?“, jean is suddenly not so drunk at all, rather confused than anything else
„dude have you looked in a mirror lately? i‘ve had a crush on you since i first saw you on court. started out as a stupid little crush, but then you started to live with me, play exy with me and i got to know you. you are so strong, so funny if you let yourself be, you are talented and so much more. i would add ‚good dancer‘ to that list, but you‘d have to dance with me for that“, jer says still blushing, avoiding his eyes
„okay, then let‘s show these losers how to dance“, jean replies, a small smile on his lips
jeremy knox liked him the way he liked him jeremy knox liked him the way he liked him jeremy knox liked him the way he liked him
so they ended up slow dancing at the edge of the dance floor
laila and renee saw them and took a quick picture of them before leaving them be
eventually it was only jean and jeremy, no ravens, no teams, no exy court
„i wanna see the stars“, jean says, suddenly having the urge to see the bright spots against the dark sky. needing to show jeremy, to make him understand
„i think it‘s okay when we disappear for a second“, jeremy says against his chest, as he still leans against jean from the slow dancing
so jean leads them out and as soon as they are outside he searches the night sky for the stars
when he found them jean points at them and says „look at the stars. you are the stars. you are bright and people look for you, people love you, people want to be with you. me? i‘m the night sky. i‘m dark, people are afraid of me. i am nothing worth looking at“
„jean, you are none of the things you said right now. if no one else i would always come looking at you. you are not dark. you surrived darkness and you came out of it. you surrived. you made it. and i am so unbelieveably proud of you. you are so strong and beautiful and if no one else, i want to be with you“
jean never cried, not when his parents sold him and homesickness almost killed him, not when riko tortured him, not when kevin left him alone in that hellhole, but this? silent tears are running down his cheeks
jer‘s hand is reaching up to his face to put them away, but he stops a few inches away, asking „may i?“
jean only asks
jeremy softly puts jean‘s tears away with his thumb
„i really wanna kiss you, can i kiss you?“, jeremy asks softly.
jean is unable to say a single word so he just nods and leans in to jer
and that‘s the story of their first ever kiss
it‘s also the story why jean calls jer „mon étoile“

in another world — peter parker
Setting: ending of infinity war to the moments after Gender: Neutral Contains: blood, could be seen as platonic? or unrequited/y’all are fucking dense? i tried keeping it open o: or even as a set up, cursing (oops, already cursed) Word Count: 2.3k
Summary: You didn’t think you’d know anyone after dying. But when a mysterious man led you to a group of familiar faces you didn’t expect to see your best friend.
a/n: I finally got this out. Also, still writing the literal 3-part series (maybe more, depends) but I’m a lazy piece of shit so uhhhhhh. [reposting from my old account :3]
Let me know if there are any grammar or spelling mistakes or if I accidentally say ‘she/he’ instead of the gender neutral ‘they’.
Feedback is appreciated!
Enjoy!

❝ no matter the dimensions we’re in we’d always find each other right? ❞
Tumblr media
You gripped your side as you felt the blood start seeping through your uniform. The fight was long and brutal. Lives were lost and more importantly, the Avengers had lost.
Leaning against the edge of a tree, too weak to move, you watched the scene before you. Each one of the Avengers struggling to come to terms with what just happened. Fear struck you when a sudden feeling came over you the same moment Bucky called out to the captain. It felt like it was out of the movies created from a poem. The sudden disappearance of each fighter, people calling out for loved ones, and those who died alone.
Natasha came up from behind you asking if you were okay. You looked up at her and nodded meekly, your face glazed over in horror. She put one of your arms over her shoulder.
“Come on, let’s group up, and we’ll get you checked out.” You nodded your head again as the two of you stumbled towards the rest of the Avengers who were still alive. Steve sat on the ground next to his fallen friend when he saw you approaching with Natasha. Worry cast over his face once he saw you limping towards the group. He pushed himself to stand up and walk up to the two of you to make sure you were alright.
Your breathing was even, as even as it could with your injury. Nat watched your chest rise and fall, to see if there were any abnormalities in your breathing pattern. It was smooth, you breathed in through your nose and out your mouth. But her eyes furrowed when she noticed that your breathing hitched, and your chest heaved, slightly jerking as you struggled to let in air.
“Guys?” You gasped out, looking at each of the older Avengers. You looked down at your legs but they weren’t there and you fell to the ground, Nat holding on to you as she tried to soften the impact. The numbing pain that alerted each of your nerves caused your body to go into shock. Your mouth gaped open, your breaths quick and sharp.
“Kid, you’re gonna be alright, okay?” Steve bent down, his voice cracking as he struggled to keep it together.
Nat smiled at you, caressing your face, a pained smile etched on her face. “You’re gonna be okay. We’ll fix this okay?” You wanted to cry, you knew what was happening. You wanted to believe them but, you didn’t know what to expect.
“I love you guys,” you croaked out, then looking away as you faded into dust.
Thor clenched his jaw in anger and looked away from the two clamber over the pile of ashes. At himself or at Thanos? He didn’t know.
***
Your eyes snapped open, immediately taking in the yellow-tinted sky. Looking to the side, you felt yourself laying in what seemed to be water which was also tinted yellow. Slowly, you sat up but you weren’t soaked like you thought you’d be. Then that’s when you recalled the earlier events.
You died.
“Is this heaven?” You mumbled to yourself, looking around. In the distance, you saw an odd piece of architecture, four pillars with an arch. Frowning, you slowly approached it.
“You probably don’t want to go towards that,” a voice said. You turned around only to see an older man donned in a peculiar navy blue tunic adorned with a red cloak on his shoulders. His beard reminded you of Tony’s and the white hairs on the sides of his head made you think he was an older man. But his facial features and lack of wrinkles let you think otherwise
Tilting your head, you asked, “And why’s that?”
“Just have a bad feeling, everyone did,” he replied. “Odd that you decided to walk towards it.” You looked back towards the pillars then back at him.
“Everyone?” You wondered. “Who are you?” Your eyes narrowed at the man who came out of nowhere. Though, if you were dead, you didn’t have to worry about dying again. The man shifted his stance in front of you before speaking.
“I’m Doctor Stephen Strange, and you’re (Y/n) (L/n), right? Full-time Avenger and full-time student,” he responded. You continued to glare at him as you pulled off your mask.
“Yeah, well that was supposed to be a secret,” you muttered and then walked towards him.
“Peter talked about you,” he said. Your eyes widened and you looked up at him.
“Wait, Peter? As in Peter Parker?” You asked somewhat excitedly. But then you stopped and frowned. “Wait, he died too?” Strange looked to the side, his head bobbing side-to-side in a ‘sorta-but-not-really’ manner.
“We’re not really ‘dead’,” he put quotes around the word dead. “Come on, I’ll explain as I take you to everyone else.”
You purse your lips as you reluctantly followed the man who began to explain where you were.
It seemed as if the two of you were walking in place. All you could see was yellow, and the sloshing of the water didn’t help. But anytime you looked back, the four pillars grew smaller and smaller. It was hard to wrap your head around the fact that you were in a pocket dimension. Hell, alternate dimensions, in general, was what shook you the most. But to be in a dimension that was really just the soul stone? It just felt impossible. But it gave you a sense of relief, you still had a fighting chance somehow.
“So do you guys have a plan?” You questioned, breaking the silence that came after Strange finished his explanation. He didn’t seem too much of the talkative type, especially considering you were years younger than the man. “How’d you even find me?”
“Not really, unless the rest of the group created one while I went off to find you,” he replied. “And Parker’s spider senses, as he calls them, sensed someone else came.” You nodded your head. It made sense after all.
“What about the rest of the universe? Are they okay?”
“You’re just full of questions, aren’t you?” The man quipped. You stopped in your steps, appalled at his rudeness.
“Sorry I’m always curious, asshole,” you muttered loud enough for him to hear before continuing to walk with him. He rolled his eyes but then eyed you carefully. He was surprised at how well you were taking everything. Strange also respected at how you cared about the rest of the universe even if you were ‘dead’.
Strange sighed, he knew he probably shouldn’t be as much of an asshole as he usually is. Especially with someone as young as you. “The other half from the snap is here, you were among the last. The ones who died after the snap from car accidents and whatnot are also here. Seems only fitting since they come here too.”
More hope. Which made you smile. “Great, that means after we kick Thanos’ ass everyone can go back to normal.” Strange chuckled at your response.
The walk to wherever the two of you were headed continued. Along with Strange, the sound of the water sloshing about accompanied you.
Small figures in the distance entered your vision that slowly grew bigger as you continued to approach them. You wondered how in the world Strange was able to navigate this pocket dimension but when you were able to recognize a few of the figures as you got closer, you didn’t even bother to ask. Bucky grinned at you and placed his hand on Peter’s shoulder, gripping it tightly as he shoved him around a bit.
“Look at who’s here, Spider-ling,” Sam crossed his arms. Peter would’ve corrected him but he couldn’t. He just stood there, mouth gaping at who Strange brought. He didn’t expect you to be the last person to arrive. But there you stood, smiling. Neither one of you moved. “Close your chin, boy! Unless eating flies is what you really do because of your powers.”
Bucky laughed at Sam’s remark and patted Peter’s back hard enough to push him forward.
“Ow!” Peter looked back at the older man.
“Look,” Peter began walking towards you as he pointed his fingers towards the two men, “just don’t tell them I thought you were Jesus.”
“Oh, we’re so telling them,” Sam chuckled. Bucky smiled in response as he watched the two of you interact. Wanda rolled her eyes at the two’s antics, her lips perked upwards but her eyes still glazed over with a hint of sadness. Vision wasn’t in the dimension they were in, no one was able to find him.
You grinned at Peter as he slowly approached you and your little handshake you had ensued. Being best friends meant that you had to have a handshake, if you had one with Ned and MJ, you did with Peter. But then Peter pulled you in for a hug. You were stunned for a moment but promptly hugged him back.
Murmuring into your hair, “I’m so glad you’re here, I thought I’d be alone.”
“I mean, you have everyone else here though,” you chuckled.
“Yeah, but you’re my best friend,” he let go of you and looked into your (e/c) eyes. “Along with Ned and MJ, but we’re crime-fighting buddies.” He nudged you with his elbow and you laughed. For a moment, you kinda wished you made him stay on the bus, or that you should’ve gone with him. But you knew if you saw him die or vice-versa, it’d fuck the two of you up.
“Speaking of our guys in the chairs…” You trailed off, looking towards the other people who occasionally eyed the two of you now and then.
“They’re alive,” Peter responded. You nodded, a pang of guilt and pain pulled in your chest.
“That’s good but,” you paused, making eye contact with Peter once more, “they probably think we’re dead, huh?” Peter took in a deep breath, knowing very well what you mean. The pain he saw in Tony’s eyes as he said he was sorry would probably stay with the olderman forever. He already knew of his PTSD and anxiety attacks, his death probably just made it worse. And to think of how your friends and the rest of the Avengers felt?
Peter didn’t respond, but he didn’t need to. You already knew how he felt as you were surrounded by the other Avengers as you faded away.
“Oh, hey! Is that a new person?” A new voice called out, the two of you guys looked away from each other to look at who was talking to you. A man, who seemed to be human, wearing a red leather jacket looked down at you two. “Ah, you guys dating?”
You and Peter looked at each other and exchanged faces. Slowly, you burst out laughing. Peter chuckled nervously as he rubbed the back of his neck and glanced down at you who seemed like you were having the time of your life. To Bucky and Sam, they couldn’t really tell if you were being overdramatic just to be overdramatic, or if you were just covering up the heat that might be rushing up to your face. Out of embarrassment or awkwardness, they still couldn’t really tell.
“Me and this kid?” You pointed at Peter with your thumb. “No way.”
“(Y/n), this is Peter Quill-”
“Please, call me Star-Lord.”
Peter rolled his eyes but continued, “And the other guys are part of the Guardians of the Galaxy.” You took in the faces of people before you, an alien who seemed like a bug was beaming at you, a tree who seemed bored out of his mind, another humanoid who had what seemed to be red tattoos, and a green woman. An odd group.
But it didn’t stop you from saying, “Guardians of the Galaxy? Half of us are dead.” Though it was meant more like a joke, Quill flinched. “I’m joking, sorry. Too soon.”
Looking at Peter, you couldn’t believe the situation you were in. Maybe you should’ve been more scared of what was going to happen. But with the last words Nat and Steve said, what Strange informed you, and being in the presence of Peter Parker, you knew you’d be okay.
Before you knew it, one of the Guardians jumped on over to you and grabbed your hand, her antennas began to glow.
“Woah!” You pulled away, glancing a Peter with a plea for help. “What are you doing?”
“I can feel emotions,” she replied. Peter gave you a reassuring smile so you slowly gave back your hand to her. “You feel lots of love, love for-”
“Okay, we’re done here,” Strange interrupted. “We’ve gotta create a game plan.”
Quill began, “Or, I’ll create-”
“No.”
The green woman smacked Quill in the backside of his head and you laughed at the scene before you, glad that the situation you were in was glossed over. For dying, all of you guys seemed pretty relaxed. But I guess it doesn’t really matter. I mean you had Peter Parker right there with you, and that’s all you really needed. Your best friend by your side while all of you created a game plan.
“Hey, I’m glad we’re in this mess together,” You said to Peter.
He nodded his head and let out a heavy breath. “Yeah, me too. Who knew we’d find each other again.”
Letting out a laugh and lightly punching his arm, with him feigning hurt, “I mean, no matter the dimensions we’re in, we’d always find each other, right?”
“Yeah, always,” he responded.
“Are-are you lovebirds done?” Strange narrowed his eyes towards the two of you.
“We’re not-!” You both said at the same time.
“Together, we know.”

fanfic tag game
I was tagged by @waitingforthestarstofall - this will be a good distraction from rage (SO MUCH RAGE) Thanks!
Questions:
Ao3 Name: IceQueen1 (same on FFN)
Fandoms: Oh damn. Umm...written for: Agents of SHIELD, and the 100 which I actively avoid now, even if those were some of my favorite works; Lucifer, Constantine, Supernatural, Magnum PI 2018, Deception, Common Law, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Merlin, MCU-ish, Doctor Who. Unpublished: Prodigal Son and Outer Banks and one crossover with MacGyver 2016.
Number of fics: Well...depends on how you count. Posted or with every intention of posting - 56, though some of those are from when I was like 14 (it shows, but I like them and they’re valuable learning tool). Unpublished and snippets here and there...::nervous laugh:: 109?
1. Fic you spent the most time on: Toss up between  Wrong Side of Heaven,  Damnatio Memoriae (which has given me the worst case of imposter syndrome I kind of cry every time I look at it), and  Running Up That Hill
2. Fic you spent the least time on:  Catalyst - literally wrote it on an illegal lunch break on a computer that wasn’t mine and posted it on a government computer.
3. Longest Fic: Huh. Apparently not Damnatio, but  Running Up That Hill, at an impressive 104k words in the Agents of SHIELD fandom.
4. Shortest Fic:  Promises to the Dead in Supernatural fandom.
5. Most hits: Even without combining from FFN and AO3 - Damnatio Memoriae
6. Most kudos: Damnatio Memoriae
7. Most comment threads: Damnatio Memoriae (see a trend?)
8. Fave Fic you wrote: This is like picking favorite pets. Um, actually, despite the headaches they’ve given me, Damnatio ties with  Left Behind. Both unfinished (Left Behind because I got so pissed at the 100 I stopped watching), and Damnatio because I have nightmares about it, but I think I like my writing in those two the most. Very close third is Wrong Side.
9. Fic you want to rewrite/expand on:  Remedy or  Cecidit Angelus
10. Share a bit of your WIP or share a story idea that you’re planning:
You need to know the answer to this is 9. Possibly more. But there’s part of Damnatio:
Lucifer looked…haggard. Tired in a way she’s never seen him before, dark shadows under even darker eyes, his normally immaculate appearance disheveled as if he’d been on a bender since the last time she saw him. He didn’t stand up straight, slightly hunched over and cockeyed, though that could just as easily be because he was standing on loose sand. It could also be from the handle of scotch held loosely in one hand, more than two thirds empty. His five o’clock shadow was more like like 12 o’clock, and his hair free of product ruffled in the breeze. “You rang?” he asked, one corner of his mouth twitching as if he meant to smile as his own joke but couldn’t be bothered with the effort. He swayed on his feet before righting himself. “I was wondering how long it would take you to try this.” Chloe could smell the alcohol on him ten feet away, even in the breeze coming off the ocean. “What happened to you?” Lucifer laughed at that. It was high pitched, bordering on manic, and he scrubbed a hand over his face, his fingers scraping along the rough stubble on his cheeks. “I…I don’t know how to answer that, Detective.” He held up the scotch, violently shaking it back and forth. “To quote a younger sibling of mine - ‘I found a liquor store, and I drank it’.”
An unnamed Outer Banks fic:
JJ scoffed at that, wincing as the sudden movement jostled his ribs. “Yeah. An adult. The last thing I need right now is an adult.” He seemed to consider that for a moment. “Though…I guess there are a couple things I could need less. A snake bite. Or a jellyfish sting. Or a missing leg. Or -” “Dammit kid,” Shoupe interrupted, not caring where the list was headed. “This isn’t a game. You can’t do this on your own, you’re barely sixteen. You can’t take care of yourself at sixteen, and if this isn’t proof enough of that, I don’t know what is. You need an adult -” JJ’s electric blue eyes narrowed as he stared at him, lower bloodied lip pinched between his teeth. “Yeah? You mean the like adults who looked the other way for eight years when I came to school with black eyes and broken bones and the same clothes for weeks on end? Or the adult who gave me those black eyes and broken bones? Or do you mean the adult who killed my best friend? Or the adult who aided and abetted said adult who killed my best friend? Or the adult who tried to rob us at gunpoint. Or maybe you mean the adults who stole money from a crime scene to ‘dip their beak’? Those adults? Are those the fucking adults you mean, Shoupe? ‘Cause if not, I have no idea what the fuck you’re talking about. I’ll take my chances. From where I’m sitting, I’m not doing any worse.” Shoupe ran an appraising eye over the kid. “I doubt that.” “The bar is pretty fucking low, Sheriff.” “You came here though, didn’t you?” JJ glared at him before turning away a muttering, “Don’t read too much into it. Robbing the CVS would’ve been a little hard to do without a getaway car.” Shoupe didn’t miss the way the kid avoided mentioning the long, ragged looking cut down the front of his left leg. “And none of your friends have first aid kits?” JJ steadfastly ignored him, ignored the way that his leg was beginning to bounce against the ceramic of the tub side as he dabbed ineffectively at the blood. “Hmm?” JJ bit his lip, whether from his less than gentle ministrations or to keep from snapping back, Shoupe couldn’t tell. Probably a toss up. “Nothing you want to say for yourself?” With a snarl, JJ whirled on him. “I can’t go to them, okay? I can’t drag them into this shit with me. Pope already lost his ticket out of here, and Kie -” he didn’t finish the thought, but there was something hard and broken in his voice as it suddenly wavered. “This is on me. I did this. So I deal with this. And I don’t drag them down with me. No one else drowns because of me.” And there it was. JJ Maybanks and John B Routledge were thicker than thieves and where one was, the other wasn’t far behind, and it’d been that way ever since Shoupe joined the Kildare Sheriff’s Department. Hell, half his calls were responding to something they’d done - a particularly memorable one being an impromptu fireworks display inside the gym when Fourth of July was rained out. What happened when one half of you was suddenly gone?
And Bad Things
The dog bit down, hard, on Rick’s forearm, teeth sinking into skin and muscle until they hit bone, the dog violently shaking its head as Rick tried to pry the dog loose with his other hand, still caught in the rifle strap. He could still hear gunfire, could still hear the lieutenant yelling at the man, but what he could hear louder than anything else was the sound of the power drill and the kid screaming in agony.
And Wrong Side
Rick tried not to think about the disaster that was his first mission as Thomas’s Overwatch. He hadn’t had much in the way of experience with SEALs, not firsthand. Marines and Navy rarely overreached during missions and centuries long tradition of hating each other kept most at arms length from each other, even back on base. Rick had plenty of experience keeping people away from him even before the Marines, but Thomas didn’t seem to take the hint. It hadn’t helped that Nuzo and TC hit it off almost instantly, and TC was less opposed to being friends with the walking ray of sunshine that was Thomas Magnum, which just made Rick all the more determined to hate the guy. It wasn’t until after their haywire mission that’d gone to Hell six ways from Sunday that Rick finally understood Thomas Sullivan Magnum. That his relaxed and affable nature wasn’t an act, and that he would bend over backwards to help anyone - anyone - regardless of whether or not he was supposed to. That he never bothered with anyone’s past, and never offered his own, because as far as he was concerned, here and now was all that mattered. That for seeming generally oblivious, the younger man missed nothing. And for all that easy going ‘rain is just another kind of good weather’ attitude, it hid a seriously terrifying alter ego.
And there’s another Prodigal Son (or two), I don’’t even want to count how many other Magnum’s, Lucifer, or random things that catch my attention because that is HOW I ROLL.
Anyway.
Tagging: @dragonnan, @beguilewritesstuff, @buckky, @itsjustdg, @21forestglades, @aliathewriter and whoever else wants to play, because Tumblr is being dumb and won’t let me tag anyone else (also, don’t feel obligated if you are tagged and don’t want to - I’m just hella nosy about sneak peeks)

Hope Because Humanity Is Within Us
“Being human is given. But keeping our humanity is a choice.” – Ida Protuger
This quote simply showsor tells us that humanity is a choice.Meaning wenare human ourselves but living here in this world, humanity is hard to keep for some of us.
When we get asked, what is humanity? Answering this question is just as easy as a pie. Humanity is the good qualities a human could have. Humanity is our ability to have compassion, care, empathy and love others. Humanity is helping other wherever and whenever, it is being selfless. If humanity is a person, the best example is Mother Teresa. But, the real question is, is there any hope for humanity when some of the human beings keeps on ruining humanity in our world? Our deepest humanity, however, is rooted within the fragility of all of our lives. Unless we work together we are going to be unable to save lots of the earth. If we cannot see that our vulnerabilities, and not our masks of perfection are what bind us to one another, we are going to be left wondering what's wrong with us.
There is such a common scene in human history when the media community says that men have lost their trust in humanity. That's because most people these days are starting to be cruel to themselves and others. They hurt themselves and the people around them. A common problem was the many facts that made this "virus" bigger and affected the whole world. When we talk about humanity, we should think of it only about human life, not because humanity is about humanity, including all humanity on earth. It is also a terminology of the qualities that make us human. For example, the ability to love, be considerate, be creative, and not be a robot or an alien.
We have to keep humanity within us. Why? Because that is our only key to prevent chaos in our modern world. Without a little bit of humanity do you think we can live, sleep peacefully and have friends around us? No. I listed some acts that show humanity from the website Good Housekeeping . ( https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.goodhousekeeping.com/life/inspirational-stories/news/gmp5124/random-acts-of-kindness/)
1. Florence Rescue Force - After Hurricane Florence caused devastating flooding in North Carolina this fall, kindhearted citizens like Amber Hersel jumped into action. The volunteer from the Civilian Crisis Response Team helped rescue 7-year-old Keiyana Cromartie and her family from their flooded home on September 14, 2018 in James City.
2. Donor Network - The decision made by Patricia Almonte (right) to donate the organs of her late 3-year-old daughter Veronica Garcia helped save three lives: Essence Walls (left), an 8-month-old baby, received her heart; a 2-year-old received her liver; and a 68-year-old woman received her kidneys.
3. Canine Heroes - A lucky dog got a ride from some unnamed helpers in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew two years ago. Photographer Sean Rayford caught these two men pushing a makeshift boat through the floodwaters in Lumberton, North Carolina.
4. Earthquake Heroes - Frida the rescue dog and her trainer Israel Arauz Salinas went viral for their life-saving efforts during the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that shook Mexico City in 2017. The 9-year-old Labrador has detected the bodies of 52 people during her career, and the duo recently received their own statue for their service to the Mexican navy.
5. Helping Hand - American Abbey D'Agostino and New Zealander Nikki Hamblin won a special Olympic commendation for their sportsmanship at the 2016 Rio Games. After Hamblin tripped in a 5,000-meter heat, and brought D'Agostino down with her, the American helped her competitor to her feet. Later on in the race, D'Agostino fell again as a result of her twisted leg, but Hamblin stayed by her side until the finish line.
6. Moments after posing for a fun photograph at a local beauty spot, brave teenager Cheng Changjiang was dead. Despite being unable to swim, Cheng, 18, waded into the lake to save the lives of three young children who had got into trouble in the water. But the brave act cost the teenager – branded a ‘hero’ by onlookers – his life. Cheng was enjoying the public holiday at the rural spot in Xinyang, at Henan province in central China, when tragedy struck.

7. ryclectic’ wrote: “My Buddy Witnessed an Act of Utter Kindness Today…While he was standing on the corner waiting for the crosswalk he saw this woman buy two meals at a street vender and go sit down beside this man and give him one of the meals. She proceeded to introduce herself and talk to him about his life and just shot the [breeze] with him. She wasn’t acting superior, she was his equal, she just wanted to talk to and express inclusion to a fellow human being.”

8. This is a picture of a chap called Tully holding a 46 year old, wheelchair bound man with severe mental handicaps. Tully picked him up so he could go on the hay ride with everyone else. 5 minutes into the ride the man got so excited that he peed all over himself and Tully. Tully sat there soaked in pee for the remainder of the 40 minute hay ride. As soon as it was over he changed the mans clothes before his own. If that doesn’t show character we don’t know what does.

9. I will not let you go. This woman spent 3 hours holding the horse’s head above the tide after it got stuck in the mud on a beach in Australia. The horse was later rescued, unharmed.

10. Strangers Leave her Money While She Gently Sleeps. “alexthegreat90″ wrote: “I took this picture this morning. Ever been somewhere and seen something that amazed you? I’m at the east side McDonald’s and this lady was sitting in front of me sleeping. She has everything she owns in a small backpack. Curled up with her blanket she sleeps not knowing what is going on around her. While she is sleeping everyone is getting their money out and putting it on the table so it’s there when she wakes up.”

These are only few of the acts that restored humanity. These acts showed us that no matter how cruel the world is. There are still people out there who shows kindness and selfless love without any hesitation despite any situation. So what are those things that could destroy our humanity? Stephen Hawking who is known for his work on black holes and gravitational singularities thinks that there are three things that ruin our humanity, but I will only cite two. He have this outspoken ideas about human civilization. Hawking suffers from a nerve cell disease just like amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, which left him paralyzed and unable to talk without a voice synthesizer. But that hasn't stopped the University of Cambridge professor from making proclamations about the wide selection of dangers humanity faces -- including ourselves. He is part of a small group who voiced out their concerns about artificial intelligence.
First, according to Stephen Hawking, “The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race," "The human failing I would most like to correct is aggression. It may have had survival advantage in caveman days, to get more food, territory or partner with whom to reproduce, but now it threatens to destroy us all," The Independent reported. I believe that Hawking here is telling us that AI could destroy us just like in the movie entitled Wall-e, we could see there that the AI are already controlling every move of the humans in the ship. They are dependent to the robot around them and don’t seem to care to anyone. There would be no care, love and empathy left.
Second, if AI won’t kill us, our own self might kill us. For example, a major nuclear war would likely end civilization, and could wipe out the human race, Hawking added. When asked which human quality he would most like to chose, he chose empathy , because "it brings us together in a peaceful, loving state.” Chaos would be everywhere without humanity.
In the current time, we ask ourselves sometimes, where is humanity? There are certain issues in our modern world that made us question ourselves. Despite those, we should look at the brighter side. There are still good people who we have mentioned above.
This year, our humanity is being tested. During this pandemic time we should remember our humanity. On the occasion of taking care of the elderly, and those who are sick and needy. This is what's happening in countless hospitals, clinics and medical aid units round the world, where truth heroes of this ordeal – the doctors, nurses and physicians – are risking their lives to avoid wasting others. This deeper humanity must spread to each street, every neighbourhood, every city and each country if we are to defeat the virus with our science and technology but also showing wisdom, compassion and humanity.
In the event that food and fun are what we were destined to be, there is one thing we should remember. Indeed, even creatures can do such exercises. In the event that God made us human, there must be an explanation behind it. No one but people can comprehend the importance of mankind, and it is humankind because of insight that truly gives the center substance to human presence. You needn't bother with a solid financial balance to add to helpful exercises. Paying your family help reasonably is humankind as well. You're prepared to pay a large number of dollars for your clinical test, yet with regards to paying your collaborator; You need to spare each penny. Compassionate exercises ought to never be embraced to pick up distinction or get a superficial point of interest. You can without much of a stretch accomplish popularity through the work you do. Lifting the weighty sack of an elderly person is humankind, helping an incapacitated individual to go across the road is mankind, helping your mom at work is humankind; truth be told, it is humankind to help whoever needs it. How would we express or show mankind? One approach to show our mankind helping poor people and the individuals who crippled. Additionally utilizing indicating counterfeit mankind to pick up distinction ought to never be one your choice. Did you experience finding a major measure of cash and when you return it, there's the incredible inclination that we can't clarify? Since on the event of indicating our humankind to other people, we have that believing that we can not get.
Humanity is significant in our daily lives. It teaches us to understand the problem and gives us ideas. It helps us understand others. Humanities students specialize in writing and critical reading. Humanity encourages us to think creatively. They teach us to explain why we are human and to ask questions about our world. Humanity produces informed and critical citizens. Democracy cannot flourish without humanity. We all need to assist one another. We humans are like that. We need to live by each other’s bliss – not by each other’s hopelessness. We don’t need to despise and loathe one another. Because that's not what humanity is.
Some may say, we are losing our humanity. No, we are not losing it. We could see it everywhere. It is within us. Humanity is lively and the light is sparkling profoundly within the hearts and souls of numerous individuals from all works of life. They are of all races, societies, social status and religions. It is individuals who see their commitments to the world as their employments and they continuously inquire what can l do to contribute to distant better;a much better; a higher;a stronger; an improved" a stronger world. It’s just that, humanity is covered by our selfishness, our hatred, all negative traits that prevents us from helping and doing good for someone. Never lose hope for we still have humanity stored in us.

Breaks from angst? Fluffy Nero at his wedding? Possibly?
(Fuck I got so carried away with this... whoops. Anyway I had a lot of fun conjuring this one up)
Nero didn’t want a big fancy wedding with a huge ball room and ceremony with a hundred people attending. And to be honest, you didn’t either. You knew how shy Nero got about PDA, so asking him to marry you and say his vows in front of a huge crowd didn’t even cross your mind. You both knew it would be far more special if it were smaller, with just the Devil May Cry crew and some of your family and friends, a small outdoor venue, and some booze and food.
Nero was wearing a navy blue suit that fitted and hugged his muscles well, while you wore a nice knee length dress that fanned out slightly at the waist. You saw his jaw drop and eyes widen when you walked down the isle, and you definitely didn’t miss him wiping away tears with his thumb before you came to stand beside him, resting your hands in his. You too felt very emotional, unable to wipe the smile off your face as you started lovingly into his blue eyes. It was cheesy, but you felt like it were just you and him, no eyes on you except for his.
The ceremony was short, after saying your vows and exchanging rings, you sealed it all with a kiss. It was the best kiss you’d ever had, so much love and promise held in one action. You held onto his shoulders, pulling him to you as his arms wrapped around your waist, bodies pressed together while you waited for all air to leave your lungs before pulling away. You shared a loving gaze before large smiles made their way onto both your faces, the small crowd standing and they clapped and whooped. Nico and Dante were the loudest, cheering loudly like the children they are.
The night rolled by and everyone began to drink and dance, mingling and enjoying being with each other before dinner came. There was one large, rectangle table, big enough to fit all your guests around it while you and Nero sat together in the middle, able to talk to anyone you wanted to. You talked to Nero the most though, whispering in each others ears and stealing kisses every now and then, just happy to be together. You did talk to Nico, Lady and Dante as well, since they were sitting on the other side of the table across from you, easiest to converse with.
Dante stood up suddenly, tapping his whine glass with a fork to get everyones attention as they ate. You and Nero shared a worried glance at each other, not knowing where Dante was going to take this as he opened his mouth to speak. He began with warning his nephew, saying that if he ever hurts you he’d personally kick his ass, to which everyone laughed since he should be giving that warning to you instead, being Nero’s uncle and all. However, his speech didn’t end so wholesome and family friendly as he mentioned how the two of you were probably just waiting to get to the honeymoon part already.
“To Nero and Y/n! The cutest fucking couple I have ever seen.” Dante raised his glass before taking a sip and smirking at the two of you. Your cheeks were pink but Nero was too happy to care about his goofy uncle embarrassing him in front of everyone, chuckling and pressing a kiss to your temple as he too picked up his drink and took a sip. A few more people stood up to say a few words, all a lot more kind and congratulating… except for Nico, she was just as bad as Dante, if not worse.
After dinner and awkward speeches, slow music started and it was announced that it was time for the bride and groom to dance with their mother and father in law. Nero kissed the back of your hand as he went to offer his hand to your mother, pulling her from her seat and beginning a slow dance while they talked and laughed. You loved watching them get along so well. A finger tapped your shoulder and you spun around to see Nero’s father, Vergil extending his hand to you. He looked displeased that he’d be dancing in front of everyone but he did agree to do so anyway… After Dante offered to take his place that is.
You took Vergil’s hand and followed him to the open space, his hand resting respectively high up on your back while the other held your hand. Your palm layer flat against his shoulder as you both began swaying slightly in time with the music. You could hear Nero chuckling and laughing with your mother still, smiling at the sound as Vergil shifted so you could see the pair dancing over his shoulder. You smiled warmly at Vergil and figured you better strike up a conversation since he didn’t look like he was going to.
“I’m glad you’re here… So is Nero, even if he doesn’t say it” You stated genuinely, your smile fading to show him you were serious. Vergil met your gaze for a brief moment, humming as if it didn’t bother him either way before he averted his eyes again. You thought that was it, the end of the conversation and leaving you to have an awkward dance with… the devil. However he surprised you when he broke he silence.
“My son is a fool about many things. However, I believe he is doing right by keeping you as close as he is. Without power, you cannot protect anything. With nothing, power has no use” He quotes as if it were a poem but you’re sure it isn’t one, his tone lacking emotion as usual but you didn’t mind. His words hit you like a ton of bricks and you wanted to ask him what he meant but he quickly raised his hand holding yours, spinning you before letting go. You expected to be left alone, having gotten your dance and words of… congratulations? However you smack right into someone, a hand quick to grab yours and resume the position you were previously in.
“Funny bumping into you here” Dante joked, resting his hand on the middle of your back. You realised it was lower than where Vergil’s hand had been, but was still at an appropriate distance from your backside. You chuckled, fixing your hand on his shoulder and turning to watch the older brother head back to the table to watch the four of you dancing. “Figured I’d cut in since I’m clearly more of a father figure to the kid than Verg is.” Dante puffed his chest as if it were another title he was adding to his name.
“Vergil is getting better. At least he isn’t killing anyone, so thats a plus in my books” You sighed, smile returning as you stepped side to side in time with the music. Dante definitely had more energy when it came to dancing than Vergil did, his feet tapping and hips swaying. Either way the two seemed to be pretty good dancers but in different genres.
“I hope you have some tissues, kid. Cause I’m about to get sappy on you here” Dante warned, slowing his movements down considerably as he held a serious expression on his face instead of his usual smirk and carefree smile. “Nero hasn’t had a proper family before. It wasn’t until he started working for the business that he had us to call his family. He’s had a crappy life, no mother or father… until now, but thats not the point.” Dante frowned, telling you things you already knew but you didn’t dare interrupt him.
“I guess what I’m trying to say is thanks. I don’t think he was ever truly happy until he met you, and when you two started dating it was like a breath of fresh air for him. You changed him in ways I didn’t think were possible, but I’m glad you did because… I don’t know where the poor kid would be without you…” Dante was so uncharacteristically serious it sent shivers down your spine, but what he was saying only made your eyes well with tears. “So… thanks. For being there for my punk of a nephew when no one else was. Both Vergil and I owe you a great deal for you simply being you” He concluded with a soft smile.
You didn’t have words to express what you were feeling. You wanted to tell him that it was your absolute pleasure, being there for Nero, being with Nero… its been the greatest life because of him and you felt like you should be thanking him. It was Dante who introduced the two of you anyway. Instead you forgot about dancing for the moment to wrap both arms around the legendary devil hunters waist, hugging him tightly as you forced your tears away so you didn’t come back with puffy eyes.
Dante laughed, patting your back as he hugged you back. You didn’t let go until you heard someone behind you clear their throat. You turned around to see Nero smiling softly at you, your mother already walking back to her seat as he stood before you. Dante pressed a kiss to the top of your head before walking off, too, going to sit down the the rest of your guests to watch what everyone has been waiting for.
Nero held a hand out, letting you slide your palm against his as you stood to him. He gently tugged you into the middle of the dance floor, walking backwards as he did so, before pulling you to him, going to rest his hand on your waist like the two men before him did. Instead, you felt the overwhelming urge to be closer, far more closer to him. You didn’t give him the chance to react as you flung your arms around his neck and buried your face in the crook of his neck, body pressed firmly against his. He must have been shocked, the small crowd chuckling at the two of you as he settled for wrapping his arms around your waist, bowing his head to hide his face in your neck as well.
“You feeling okay?” Nero asked and you nodded against him, chuckling at the fact that he was worried right now when you were holding each other as you swayed to music. Your chest was so warm and heavy with love and appreciation for the boy in front of you, Dante’s words echoing in your mind and you were sure they’d stay in your brain for as long as you were alive.
“I just feel… so damn lucky” You breathed out, pulling back slightly and cupping his face in your hands to pull his face up, off your shoulder. You didn’t care that people were watching, and he seemed to let all PDA slide for today, since he usually wasn’t a fan of it. You pressed a soft peck to his lips, smiling when he chased you for a longer kiss. “I love you so damn much” You whispered.
“I love you more. But, you got one thing wrong” Nero sighed happily, squeezing your waist a little as he pulled you tightly against him. You guessed what he was going to say before he said it, but hearing the words still made you smile like a love sick teenager non the less. “I’m the lucky one here” He whispered in your ear before kissing your cheek.
Dante, Nico, Lady, all your family and everyone that were watching the two lovebirds on the dance floor, wished they had a love like yours. Thew were all smiling and imagining themselves in your position, being with someone they love like that. Everyone was happy. Even Vergil couldn’t help but smile at the two of you embracing each other, ignoring everyone’s eyes no you. Nero was all that mattered to you and you were all that mattered to him.

And it’s a double ficlet posting day today. Once again since setting all these ficlets in an AU ‘verse kind of steers away from some of the prompts, I’m not posting this one in the official Untamed Fest tag, but it is for Day Six: Quote.
“I can’t believe I’m actually getting to see a professional baseball game in person,” Zizhen said. He was decked out in Red Sox gear, from an obviously new ballcap on his head to the perfectly white Mookie Betts jersey on his back.
“How long have you been attending Lan Academy? And you never took one of the weekend trips to see a day-game?” Jingyi asked.
Zizhen shrugged. “You know my father doesn’t believe in frivolous things. He only let me go this time because Teacher Lan and Mr. Lan-Wei are taking us.” He looked around the ballpark. “Are we not in one of the boxes? Father always gets one of the boxes for sporting events.”
“Are we what?” Jingyi asked, pulling his battered cap further down over his eyes. “We’re here to see a game, Zizhen, not eat caviar or some shit.”
“Though if you do get overheated, the Jins have a suite that we can use,” Shizui said. “That’s where my parents are with our uncles, Auntie Yanli and all the little ones.”
“That means Jin Ling should meet up with us soon,” Jingyi said.
He slid into their usual seats along the third base line. Dad’s season tickets didn’t get as much use as they used to with all of them in Western Massachusetts these days, but the coming of summer meant entire months in Boston, and Sizhui couldn’t wait.
He loved Lan Academy. He loved the Cloud Recesses camp. But Boston would always be home and since Uncle Cheng had offered him and Jingyi summer jobs at Jiang Industries, Sizhui was glad to be back in his city. They’d be working in the mailroom and helping Miss Luo with whatever she needed, but it was job experience.
“I didn’t expect the seats to be so small,” Zizhen said as he gingerly sat down, trying not to spill his soda or drop his nachos.
“Fenway’s over a hundred years old,” Jingyi said. “There’s only so much they can do when it comes to renovations.”
“It’s about the experience,” Sizhui quickly explained before Jingyi started his baseball lecture. Sizhui actually loved listening to it, to see Jingyi be so passionate over something, but poor Zizhen wasn’t ready to hear that sort of devotional speech as he tried to fold his long legs, sit up straight, and put a napkin over his lap to not mess up his khakis.
They really should have given Zizhen a dress code. When Jingyi had seen the button-up shirt he’d worn, he’d immediately dragged him into the Team Store to buy a jersey.
“Shove over,” Jin Ling said, appearing in a worn pair of jeans and a faded Nomar Garciaparra shirt Sizhui was sure once belonged to Aunt Yanli.
“You’re small. Climb over,” Jingyi said.
Honestly, Jingyi deserved to have his hat knocked off his head for that, though Jin Ling did easily climb over him to plop down on Zizhen’s other side.
“Are those?” Jin Ling looked up at Zizhen then leaned over to look at Jingyi. “Is he wearing khakis?”
“They’re dockers,” Zizhen said. “They’re casual. I went to a department store and bought them myself.”
“And boat shoes?” Jin Ling asked.
“Stop,” Sizhui said. “We don’t all fall into your and Jingyi’s sneaker obsession.” He glanced down at Zizhen’s navy blue cloth shoes. “I like Zizhen’s shoes. I’m sure they’re comfortable, and if something spills on them he won’t immediately be yelling about needing to go clean his shoes.”
“That was one time,” Jingyi said.
“We were in the middle of a date,” Sizhui replied. “At a fairground. What did you think was going to happen?”
“I didn’t expect that much mud!”
“It’s called a weather app,” Jin Ling said. He stole one of Zizhen’s nachos and slid back into his seat. “Now shut up and let’s watch the game.”
**********
By the seventh-inning stretch, the warmer weather was finally starting to get to Sizhui. Zizhen’s enthusiasm had definitely died down, but he was still into the game. Even Jin Ling had started to look deflated. Jingyi would sleep out on the mound if he was given the choice, grass stains and heat stroke be damned, so Sizhui tugged on his hand to get his attention.
“Box time?” Jingyi asked.
Sizhui nodded, digging into his bag to pull out their suite tickets.
“Oh, good,” Zizhen said. “I’ve needed the restroom for three hours, but I was afraid I’d get lost.”
“Dude, just ask next time. We’ll buddy system it,” Jin Ling said.
The suite was up an elevator and on the first base line, so they gave Zizhen a small tour of the park, quieter now than when they entered. They also got him to a much needed bathroom. As they finally reached the suites, Sizhui was pleased to hear that their family’s wasn’t the loudest one there. When Dad, Uncle Cheng, and all the younger cousins got together, the noise level tended to be ear-shattering.
“Holy shit,” Jingyi said, right before they approached the suite. He grabbed Sizhui and pulled him back, Zizhen and Jin Ling stumbling after them.
“Dude, what the fuck?” Jin Ling asked.
“Look,” Jingyi pointed to two figures down the hall.
Papa and Mr. Keller.
That wouldn’t end well.
Jacob Keller had decided, sometime in eighth grade, that Sizhui was his mortal enemy. He’d done his level best to try and make Sizhui’s life hell, but since Sizhui refused to react in the way he knew Jacob wanted, he’d started escalating things last year. An incident in the chem lab that could’ve resulted in serious injury was the final straw. Jacob had been on probation ever since, and recently had started the downslide towards academic probation as well.
Honestly, out of all classes to try and plagiarize a paper in, Sizhui couldn’t even imagine the lack of thought--and arrogance--it took to plagiarize a paper in one of his father’s courses.
On Bernini of all people.
Using the Wikipedia entry and claiming it as original.
“Who is that?” Dad asked, one of the younger cousins hanging off his side and a stick of cotton candy in the other.
He smiled as they all yelped.
“Are you boys up to mischief? Let me in on it. They’re being boring adults in here.”
Jin Ling grabbed his sister and walked into the suite. “She’s too young to hear any of this,” he explained. “Zizhen, come on. Let’s get you and your precious boat shoes into safety.”
“That’s Mr. Keller,” Zizhen hissed.
“I know,” Jin Ling said.
“Who is Mr. Keller?” Dad asked.
“Jacob Keller’s dad,” Jingyi said. “He’s an asshole.”
“Jacob or his dad?”
“From the looks of it, both,” Uncle Cheng said, both him and Uncle Xichen leaning out of the suite to see what the problem was.
All of them froze as Mr. Keller grabbed Papa’s arm.
“Does that man want to die?” Uncle Zuxian asked.
Papa pulled his arm away without a word and walked towards them.
“Hey, you!” Mr. Keller yelled after him. “I’m not done talking to you.”
Papa stilled and turned around. “You are not qualified to speak to me.”
“Excuse me?” Mr. Keller asked.
“Mr. Keller, unless you’ve suddenly obtained degrees in Art History and Secondary Education, you are not qualified to speak to me about my grading system. And in regards to giving my son unfair treatment, I would argue that I grade both my son, and my younger cousin, harsher than other students since I am well aware of their capabilities. Perhaps if you had more concern over your son’s lack of dedication to his schoolwork, you wouldn’t have to accost his teachers on their private time. Your son has already had one hearing regarding the Honor Code after his plagiarism incident. Your actions in this moment are not aiding his cause.”
“And what are you going to do about it?”
“As the Headmaster is standing not even fifteen feet away from you, I shall leave that matter in his capable hands.”
Uncle Cheng took Uncle Xichen’s plate and patted him on the shoulder. “Hey, Law of Averages. It was about time for your job to interrupt our dates.”
Uncle Xichen closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “I’m getting exceedingly tired of the Keller family,” he muttered. He put on his best professional smile as he walked towards Papa and Mr. Keller.
“Mr. Keller, as I’m sure you know from the many letters I have personal typed and sent to your address, to the emails I have also copied both you and your wife on, we have a strict standard of conduct at Lan Academy. This not only extends to our students, but our staff, and I find your unfounded accusations towards one of our most highly decorated teachers an insult not only to me, my family, and my school, but also the honor that Lan Academy prides itself on. Perhaps it was wrong of me to argue for such leniency in young Mr. Keller’s case. Any other school would have expelled him by now, but it is the very teacher you accuse, and one of the students you have insulted, who argued to the Board for your son to stay on at Lan Academy on a probationary basis. I cannot rescind such a decision without a member of the Board present, but know that I will be making inquiries once school resumes on Monday.”
“A member of the Board is present,” Uncle Zixuan said. “And he recommends that perhaps Mr. Keller should find another educational institution for his son’s senior year. Let him finish this year, it’s almost over, but only so many chances can be given.”
Uncle Zixuan stood with his back ramrod straight, all the arrogance Dad and Uncle Cheng had ever accused him of on his face.
“I can’t imagine how you would ever think it appropriate to air your grievances to a teacher on their private time. The syllabus is sent to you in paper and email form with all the contact information provided. There are teacher conferences once a quarter. Mr. Lan even keeps later office hours after the school day has ended for parents to come by if they make an appointment, knowing full well that some parents have to travel hours to reach the school. Mr. Keller, I am sorry to say you have made an unfortunate decision today.”
“He came here to threaten him,” Dad said, not even bothering to give Mr. Keller a glance. “Grabbing someone like that? Did you think you could shake a Lan’s arm and they’d give in to you?” Dad laughed. “It’s like a fly trying to shake an elephant.”
Mr. Keller narrowed his eyes, but some common sense his son lacked cleared his head.
“You’ll be hearing from my lawyers,” he spat.
“Oh, I’m sure you’ll be hearing from ours first,” Uncle Zixuan said. He waved his hand at a set of security officers. “These officers will see you out now. I hope you enjoy the rest of your afternoon.”
“Uncle Peacock for the smackdown,” Jingyi said. “At least Jin Ling comes by it honestly.”

Sweet Music Playing in the Dark: Ch.2- Lip and Cheek (Craquaria)- Dill
A/N: Hi guys! Here’s the second chapter for sweet music. This is my first smut attempt, so I hope it’s okay lol. I’m working on a few things at the moment that will slowly trickle out now that I’m done with school. You can find me on AO3 @drdill. Thanks for reading!
Summary: Soon Max will be moving to New York, and Gio interrogates Kevin to see if they could last.
“Come on, it’s totally Bill.”
Max stuffs another piece of sushi in his mouth, watching Mamma Mia! intensely on the television, knees to his chest on my couch.
“I don’t disagree, I’m just saying this all could’ve been avoided with a paternity test.”
“Don’t try to get technical with this masterpiece.”
“Fair enough,” I giggle. “I wouldn’t be mad if Sam proposed to me, though.”
“Well, obviously. He could get it any day of the week.” I choke on my water.
Earlier in the day, he knocked on my door, my sandals between his fingers and a smirk on his lips. Probably thinking my life is a mess, he asked me about my swollen knee and it turned into an hour of us drinking coffee at my kitchen table. Wanting to repay him for his hospitality the night prior, I suggested sushi and a cheesy film in sweats. From my obnoxiously loud ABBA jam-session in the morning that left “Dancing Queen” in his head for the rest of the day, he chose appropriately.
The final scene ends to the Netflix home screen and I start picking-up empty soy sauce packets.
“Sorry for getting wasabi on your couch,” Max says, standing up to help clean.
“Don’t worry about it. There’s been worse things on it,” I tell him with a wink, immediately ready to punch myself in the face. Why the fuck do I open my mouth? He just laughs and shakes his head.
“I’m not even gonna ask.”
We head back to the couch, sitting opposite, staring anywhere but directly at each other. He’s stretched out towards me while I sit cross-legged and hands in my lap. Seconds pass and we’re waiting for the other to initiate some form of conversation, resorting to him making a fun beat with his hands on the side of the couch and this thigh, and me bobbing my head and shimmying my shoulders. A laugh escapes me.
“What’s on your mind?” he asks me.
“I don’t know,” I say, fully honest. “Most weekends where I do nothing aren’t this fun.”
It feels like a first date- painfully hesitant. For the twenty-seven hours I’ve known him, he’s surely made an impact. Maybe I’m just desperate for the attention he’s giving, and maybe the feeling is mutual, but I’d rather be entangled in blind affection than ignorant to it.
“I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting to make a friend during my quick stay,” he tells me, “but I’m so glad you fell on that fire escape.” He chuckles when I roll my eyes and observe the bandages wrapped around my bruised knee.
“As embarrassing as that was, I guess the garlic bread was worth it,” I smile. He shifts positions and crosses his legs like me, moving close enough for our knees to touch.
“Since we’re sharing thoughts,” he says, “something’s been eating at me.”
“And what is that?” He sighs. “Last night, when you said goodbye, we shared a quick hug and you were gone.”
My lips are between my teeth, unsure which direction this could turn.
“When just hours before, you wanted to kiss me like it was nothing.”
Relief quenches me like a cool glass of water.
“Well,” I reply, leaning a bit closer, “I can tell you that it wasn’t nothing.”
“You don’t say?” His draws circles on my kneecap through my black joggers. I nod in response when he greets my eyes, leering.
Like muscle memory, we find ourselves in the same position as last night. This time, the puzzle pieces fit together, completing what could’ve been my evening departure. His lips are even softer than they look, sweet and tangy like the lemonade he sipped during the movie. I smell his aftershave on my next inhale before deepening our kiss, bunching his shirt in my hands and pushing him onto his back. Propped on my elbows, I drag my tongue over his bottom lip and reconnect to his mouth, full of paradise. He leisurely travels down my spine to my lower back. For the time being, it’s a musical rapture.
Then there’s an abrupt knock at my door.
It was maybe fifteen seconds. Fifteen seconds. I’m fuming, nostrils flared and eyes slowly shutting.
“The universe really doesn’t want this, huh?” he says with a sympathetic grin. I peck his lips before standing and unlocking the door.
Kevin greets me with a huge smile- of all the people to ruin our moment.
“Hi, honey.”
“Someone’s back early,” I say, moderately bothered.
“I really didn’t want to bother you, but I must’ve left my key at my sister’s and Max wasn’t answering his phone. Could I use your spare?”
“Hi, Kevin.” Max pokes his head from the couch.
“Maxie!! Y’all already met!?” He’s elated at the sight of his friend, which quickly turns to sheer panic. “Oh shit. Did I jus-”
“No, it’s fine. We were just hanging out. Being neighborly and all,” I say before Max can speak, unenthusiastic jazz hands to follow. Max’s face drops and nods.
“Yeah, I can let you back in. It’s pretty late anyway,” Max tells Kevin, hopping off the couch and standing next to me.
“Thanks for the sushi, Gio.” He goes for an awkward hug, an even worse ending than last night.
“Anytime.”
Kevin watches us stiffly before giving me a hug.
“You up for brunch tomorrow?” he asks me. I hide my irritation with a cheeky smile.
“Duh! Max will you still be around?” I must’ve caught him off-guard.
“Hm? Oh, yeah! Yeah I can come.” He’s flustered.
“Wonderful. See you guys tomorrow?”
“I’ll knock when we’re ready!” Kevin replies. He leads the way out of my apartment with Max.
“Bye-bye.” I shut the door and reflect. Of all the people to ruin our moment. I love Kevin. Typically he annoys me with bombarding my phone with texts, but this time, nothing- the one time I don’t get minute-by-minute updates on his train ride home. I throw myself on the empty bed, frustrated and lonely.
—-
*knock knock knock*
I grab my wallet and head for the door in white converse, rolled black shorts, and matching black tank top. In the hallway, Kevin’s alone wearing a coral v-neck with khaki shorts and flip flops.
“Where’s Max?” I ask.
“Bathroom. He should be out in a sec.” He looks down at my legs.
“What happened to your knee?”
“Oh, I just fell,” I say, shrugging my shoulders.
With those words, Max opens the door in a navy button-up and flip flops, still drying his hands on his shorts. His hair for the past couple of days was fluffy and unkempt, curling on his forehead. Today, it’s tamed with some wax, swooped to the side, and absolutely delightful.
The restaurant is a few blocks from our building. We get a table, a few drinks, and discuss Kevin’s quick return.
“So, why’d you come back so early?” I ask, still annoyed with prior events. Max, sitting next to Kevin, gives me a smug look that he can’t see.
“I overestimated how much time I can handle them,” he cackles. “Also, my momma kept showing me photos of her church friends’ single daughters. The mothafuckin’ nerve!” I laugh and swirl my drink.
My favorite part of these brunch dates is when Kevin’s adorable Caribbean mother calls him while he tells me about his latest hookup (in too much detail), trying to play matchmaker after mass. He always exaggerates his workload to explain how he, the gayest person on this planet, doesn’t have time for a girlfriend.
“I still have no idea how she hasn’t figured it out yet,” I tell him.
“One of these days, I’ll probably get fed up and tell her. We’re getting close.”
“You should’ve just asked how their sons are doing,” Max says. Kevin howls as he takes a satisfying sip of his drink.
Our food comes a bit later and we continue catching up, Kevin and Max telling old stories from college in-between bites as I listen. The more they speak, the more I realize they are the exact same person in different bodies. It’s almost scary; from karaoke nights at a cheap dive bar near campus, to reenacting musicals in their apartment with friends, I’m surprised Kevin’s barely ever mentioned him to me.
Unintentionally, I keep staring at Max. No particular reason, just watching him: the way he eats his fries, talks with his hands, covers his mouth after laughing too hard. I become so fixated that whatever Kevin is babbling about turns inaudible- I just keep looking at the slight stubble poking through his chin that he scratches every so often, the scar on his right elbow when he props it on the table, even how he nods along to every word Kevin says. He’s a completely average guy, but I’m mesmerized by every small detail.
“Would you like some more water?” I’m snapped out of the trance by our waitress holding a metal pitcher in front of me.
“Oh, um, yes please.” She refills my glass and walks off.
“I’ll be back. I’m going to the bathroom.” Max stands up and goes away from the table. I catch myself staring again as he walks away until he turns a corner and is out of sight. Then, I’m greeted with a fresh pair of eyes from Kevin. With the coy glare, I think he’s connected the dots.
“What?”
“I know that look, G,” he replies.
“Oh, shut up.”
“Since when were tiny white guys your type?”
“Since Friday night.” Apparently, I’m ready to spill.
“I was wondering when you guys met. Y’all were pretty close last night.”
“We met completely on accident. I tripped on the fire escape steps and he helped clean the scrape, then asked me to stay for dinner.”
“I thought you ‘just fell.’” He’s using air quotes, taunting me from my previous answer.
“I didn’t lie.”
“Y’all were being more than neighborly last night, weren’t you?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know?”
“I totally cock-blocked you, didn’t I?”
I’m silent and avoiding eye contact, causing him to go wide-eyed.
“Oh my GOD.” He slaps the table with every word, way too excited and causing patrons to stare. “I knew it!”
“Shh!” I’m attempting to contain his emotions, pinning his arms down on the table. When he finally cooperates, I speak softly.
“We almost kissed Friday night, and I redeemed myself yesterday until you just had to ruin it, bitch!”
“Well if I would’ve known my friends were fucking I wouldn’t have knocked!”
“We didn’t think you’d be home until Monday!”
“True,” he cackles. “I can’t believe you two were ready to hook up that quick. Max typically isn’t into hookups.”
“I can’t believe you barely talked about him with me!”
“I didn’t think you’d be interested!”
“Well, I wasn’t until he started acting all hospitable. He’s so nice.”
“You’re telling me! If he wasn’t a top that’s half of my size I would’ve married him by now.” The last sentence almost has my jaw in my lap.
“That man is a top?”
“You are such a whore.”
“Don’t change the subject.”
“I only speak facts, babe,” he winks. “But you didn’t hear it from me.” A sip of his mimosa and Max appears from the corner again, sitting down and returning to his meal.
“What’d I miss?” he asks. I shake my head.
“Nothing much.”
——
Evening rolls around and I run upstairs to check on my laundry. When I throw the load in the dryer and come back down, Max is standing in the hallway with his bags, placing his ticket in his jacket pocket.
“Leaving so soon?” I ask with a smile.
“Very late, actually. My flight leaves in two hours and I haven’t even called an Uber.”
“Oh, shit. I shouldn’t keep you then.” I reach in for a hug and he wraps his arms around me softly.
“Be safe heading back.”
“I will,” he tells me. “See you in a few weeks.”
With that, he gives me a cheeky grin and walks quickly down the hallway to the elevators where this mess started. I go back inside, a deep sigh following. What am I doing?
My conversation with Kevin this morning has stuck with me all day. I need more answers. Stepping onto the fire escape with a blunt, I tap on his window until the curtains draw back and he opens it.
“You rang?”
“I’ve got some questions.” He laughs and shakes his head.
“Me too. But keep it quick. Grandpa is getting tired.”
We sit down, feet dangling from the platform when I light the joint and taste it’s sourness. I pass it to Kevin.
“Before I start, can you promise to be as honest as possible?”
“Yes, Judge Judy.”
“Okay, good. You said he normally doesn’t do hookups, right?”
“Nope. He hasn’t been with someone since sophomore year.” That’s weird.
“Seriously?”
“Well, kind of. He had an on-and-off thing with this asshole named Jake until graduation that fucked with his psyche a lot. He’d leave Max every couple of months and come running back like nothing happened. I wanted to kill him, then Max for falling for his bullshit.” Kevin’s getting re-heated just by talking about it, taking multiple hits before passing the blunt back to me. “He cares so much, probably too much.” I nod along.
“Anyways,” he says, “How much have you seen each other while I’ve been gone?”
“Probably like ten hours total.”
“In two days?”
“Yeah?”
“Wow. What kind of social butterfly did Max turn into since I left the west coast?”
“He keeps to himself a lot?”
“All of the time. That’s why I was so shocked when you guys were hanging out together, let alone doing whatever that was when I knocked.”
“Calm down, we didn’t get anywhere when you interrupted,” I giggle.
He sighs. “I don’t know what you did to him, but he seems really interested in you. I asked him about the weekend after brunch, and he was floored about goddamn sushi and Mamma Mia!.”
“Did you consider my incredible charm and wit?” I smirk and nudge his shoulder, causing him to sway and laugh.
“I’m sure that’s what it was. Listen, as much fun as this is, I’m falling asleep out here.” “Fine. One last question.” “What is it?” “…can I have his number?” I ask bashfully.
“You mean to tell me that y’all were getting hot and heavy and didn’t even bother to get that on night one?!”
“It wasn’t the first thought in my mind when I climbed on top of him, bitch!” He rolls his eyes with a smile, takes out his phone, and sends me his contact information.
—-
I didn’t text him. The first man to give me attention for more than three hours to hook up, and I’m blowing it to smithereens because I’m too nervous to make the first move.
A few weeks have passed since he left for Seattle again. He’s probably moving in right now as I answer emails and procrastinate by looking at old looks from this year’s Met Gala. A camp aesthetic? My fucking dream. A message appears on my Mac from Kevin.
Do I have to do everything for this relationship to blossom?
I’m confused, until my phone starts buzzing. I reach into my pocket and see that it’s Max. Oops.
“Hello?”
“Gio?”
“Hey, Max.”
“Hi. Uh, Kevin gave me your number.” I chuckle.
“I figured. How’ve you been?” “I’m so sore. Kevin and I have been moving boxes and furniture all day.” “Why didn’t Kevin let me know sooner? I would’ve helped out,” I tell him as if I couldn’t text him for a month.
“Well, that’s actually why I called you. Kevin just left and I still have a lot of unpacking to do. Are you busy?”
Surprisingly, I actually do have plans. Some coworkers invited me out to drinks tonight because I was in the room as they discussed plans, but it’s not the first time I’ve bailed on them. They definitely won’t miss me.
“Not at all! Send me the address and I’ll be there soon.”
“You’re a lifesaver! I’ll text it to you now.”
“Alright, I’ll see you soon.”
He sends me the address and I get dressed to bare the Brooklyn heat. Before leaving, I text Kevin back:
I’m pulling my weight. Don’t worry ;)
—-
“How was the drive?” I’m helping him load plates and glass cups into his cabinets while he stands on a chair.
“Too fucking long,” he says, “It took me five days to get here, but I stayed with my friend Brian when I got to Milwaukee, then Tony in Chicago. Every other place was just some crappy motel and a prayer that I wouldn’t get bed bugs.” I snicker at the last comment.
“At least you get to sleep in your own bed tonight.” “Yeah, finally.”
We finish putting away every bowl, spoon, and rubber spatula he brought and break down the boxes for the trash. His living room is barren besides a bunch of bubble wrap and tape lining the lightwood floor and an empty bookcase with hundreds of novels on the floor next to it. It smells like an old bookstore- the sunset bleeds through and highlights every dust particle floating around the room. Max stands by the small island in the kitchen, hands on his hips. He’s glowing, arms and face golden before the sun falls over a building and everything turns gray. Clearly exhausted, he gives me a smile and a look that begs us to return to the mess tomorrow.
“Welcome to New York.” I mirror his smile and pull him into a hug. He sways us back and forth in absolute fervor, dancing in my arms.
“We need to celebrate. Grab the wine in the fridge.”
As I get the bottle, which is the only thing in his fridge, he greets me with two coffee mugs- the Seattle skyline painted across both.
“The wine glasses must’ve been in a different box,” he says, a giant grin plastered on his face. “My mom made these.”
“Classy,” I smirk.
He follows behind with the bottle opener as I sit against the white wall, legs crossed and scrolling through his laptop’s music library. After uncorking, he pours almost full cups for the both of us, and slides down the wall next to me, moonlight from the window striking his leg as he stretches. To go with some acoustics, I jokingly search-up a Yule log video for mood lighting. He laughs and rolls his eyes watching the crackling embers on his computer screen.
“Dumb ass,” he whispers under his breath before raising his mug toward me. I do the same.
“To crushed dreams and expensive rent!”
“L'chaim!” I reply. We clash our drinks together and sip occasionally. I’m relieved he bought sweet wine this time, watching dusk swallow the sky.
Through fifteen minutes, radio silence. His shirt reflects a light orange from the fake flames, darkness encapsulating the living room. My head rests on the wall, eyes shut and feeling Max bobbing to the music every once in a while, silently pouring more wine into our mugs. No moments on my own fire escape have felt so peaceful, especially when the next song plays:
If you were falling,
Then I would catch you.
You need a light,
I’d find a match.
Max starts quietly humming the chorus, swaying back and forth with his eyes closed. I silently laugh when our arms brush against one another.
‘Cause I love the way you say good morning,
And you take me the way I am.
Eventually, his head softly lands on my shoulder as it did so perfectly weeks before. I hide the smile forming on my lips, slowly inching my fingers. Reaching his hand on the floor, they playfully dance on his knuckles before intertwining, giving a gentle squeeze.
I feel his prickly cheek glide across my skin until his lips connect, placing delicate kisses from my shoulder to collar bone. The sensation causes the hairs on my arm to stand, a deep sigh escaping. He continues sprinkling soft pecks along the area, using a finger to move the strap of my tank top and grazing my slicked, bare chest. My hand detaches from his and relocates to the side of his jaw, thumb tracing as he squeezes my thigh. I lean my head back in satisfaction, hungry for any contact, and he wastes no time moving off the wall and attacking my neck with more aggression. The suction tingles as his tongue soothes the spaces he bruises, his hand traveling up my thigh, nearly at my crotch. I can smell the wine in his breath.
“M-Max…” I’m barely making words. He raises a single finger and lightly drags my lips, silencing me. His control may be rousing, but I’m tired of waiting.
Growing impatient, I reach under his thigh and pull him towards me. His leg swings across and straddles my lap- I immediately feel his growing harness as he grips my cheeks. Thousands of fireworks go off in my head as I finally taste his lips on mine. It’s sour and velvety, our noses smash together upon impact, tongues sloppily discovering rhythm. Our music has been drowned by deep exhales and the fabric of our shorts at the slightest friction. I take his bottom lip between my teeth, eliciting a moan when our mouths reconnect. My arms pull him closer to make sure this isn’t some painful dream, teeth clashing and steadily rolling my hips. I reach under his shirt, outlining every back muscle during the passionate exchange. Without missing a beat, he starts lifting the white fabric, revealing his lightly-toned torso and prominent v-line. He smirks as my eyes grow wide, unsure of what I was expecting, and finds my lips again before tossing it near some boxes. I shut the laptop and wrap my arms around him once more.
After several minutes, we relax and catch our breath, still firmly attached with his arms around my neck and mine on his waist. He pulls me close, fingers lost in my hair with my head at his chest. I kiss his sternum as he controls his breathing.
“Took us long enough,” he smirks. I smile and place another kiss on his salty skin.
Looking up from his embrace, his face is shining, beads of sweat forming at his hairline with his mouth agape, forming a light smile. Standing slowly, he extends his hand, head motioning to the bedroom. I graciously accept as he helps me up and leads to the door- a quick admiration for his shoulder muscles and notice of a weird tattoo I’ll ask about later. We have more important plans.
The door shuts behind us and I can only see silhouettes, nightfall and car headlights pouring through the two windows near his bed. Barely in the room, I ditch my tank top on the floor and grab his waist from behind. His neck cranes back as I bruise the porcelain skin, fingers tracing up and down my arm. I feel his chin on my cheek and I lift my head, tenderly greeted by his lips. My hands drop to his hips, fingertips progressing to his stark erection as I stroke it’s length. Eagerly, he takes my wrist and moves it to his waistband, to which I duck underneath and grab his cock, thumbing the head and spreading the precum before pleasuring him.
“Oh my God,” he severs from my lips, groaning and grasping my neck hairs hard as I revert focus to his shoulder.
“I’ve been dreaming about you,” I whisper, my hand moves up and down excruciatingly slow, teasing something that’s been built-up for a month.
“Th-that makes two of us.” He stutters, breathing deeply as I continue to stroke his shaft.
“Show me,” I simper and bite his earlobe, my free hand rubbing his chest. With those words, his hands reach behind to grab my shorts at the waist and yank them to my thighs. He stops my action by turning around to face me, pulling the minimal clothing off of my body, exposing my erection. Kneeling before me, he places a chaste kiss on my inner thigh, dangerously close, before pushing me toward the bed.
My legs hit the sides of the mattress and cause me to sit close to the edge. Max travels down from my collar bones to my navel, lips and tongue blessing my torso as my fingers comb his hair when he falls back to his knees. He licks from base to head, swirling his tongue before taking me in his mouth. I’m brought to my elbows in luxury, relishing in his skill. His hand works in tandem on my shaft while the other grips my thigh.
Holy shit.
It doesn’t take long before I’m encapsulated- euphoric moans escape, head thrown back when he takes the entire length to the back of his throat and gags. My body starts to twitch, knowing I’m getting close. Sitting up, I place my hand at his cheek, slowing his pace to a halt, chocolate eyes dark with passion, skin waxen and pale blue in the moonlight, almost angelic.
I meet him halfway with my lips, salty and wet, finally pulling his shorts and underwear down. He steps out of this clothes and I scoot farther onto the bed when he climbs over me again and sloppily kisses my mouth. We roll around the pale cotton sheets, savoring the embrace and caressing each other’s bodies. Laying on our sides, his hand travels down my back and hastily grabs my ass, slapping it when he makes contact. My breath hitches- it burns in the best way possible. His stomach is warm against mine, legs intertwined with sensual murmurs filling the air.
“Fuck me,” I mumble against his lips. “Please.” Our kissing stops and he meets my eyes.
“Are you sure?”
I nod, giving him a quick peck, a grin forming on his lips.
He quickly slides off the bed while I move closer to the pillows. Rummaging through a bag close to the bathroom, he pulls out a condom and some lube and walks over to me, body shining from perspiration. A loud snap and the cap pops open, the sticky liquid coating his fingers before he sits in between my legs. I’m already balling the sheets in my hands, licking my lips and anticipating to crumble at his touch. His cold middle finger teases my entrance. It’s tingling, almost painful with build-up. There’s a sharp sting when he enters one finger, pumping slowly with his other hand tracing my abdomen. I sigh in relief at the sensation, eyes fluttering shut. He introduces a second finger, leaning down and peppering my hips with kisses, arm moving faster and faster within me. My chest jolts at his fingers dancing atop my rib cage and reaching my jaw, his thumb outlining my bottom lip. To his surprise, I take it in my mouth and begin to suck lightly
“Fuck,” is all he can breathe as I moan onto his finger. Eventually, he slows his pace before removing his fingers, eliciting a whimper from me and a smirk from him. I hear the crinkling of the condom wrapper as he tears it open and slides it over his cock. Propped on his arms at my sides, he leaves me with a glossy stare before settling back on his knees and grabbing my thighs.
The head grazes over my entrance until he thrusts idly about halfway. My knuckles turn white, clutching the bedding and hissing as I get used to the pressure. In a couple of movements, we groan in unison when he’s fully inside me. It feels like a bolt of electricity shooting through my veins at the sensation. He quickens the pace with each advance, holding my waist tightly.
I can barely see his face, making out small details: a single hair is curled on his forehead, brows furrowed close together, an expression of pure zeal in his eyes and mouth. My legs wrap around his hips and he balances over me, arms by my ears and chests becoming parallel, sweat exchanging when they graze each other.
I’m becoming overstimulated, grunting with every one of his thrusts, face turning red. I start shivering, getting close and panting. Stroking myself quickly, my back arches as beads of white coat his chest and drip onto my stomach. I collapse underneath him. Max’s hands find mine among the chaos and bring them over my head, interlocking fingers as he groans into my shoulder.
In a short moment, his body begins to contort. I feel the warmth inside me when he exhales loudly and finishes, arms wobbling and fighting to keep him up.
——
We lay in our sweat. The only sounds I can hear are our heartbeats and Max’s deep breaths next to me. I’m on my side with my arm draped over his chest while he scratches the back of my neck. He kisses my forehead softly before pushing himself off the bed and walking to the bathroom. The light he turns on blinds me when I roll over. Shielding my eyes, he comes back with a damp washcloth, wiping himself before handing it to me and climbing back into bed, examining the contusions blanketing my throat and chest. I toss the towel on the floor.
“You’re incredible.” Max’s first words to me after everything are as soft as every kiss he leaves on my hand and knuckles. If I weren’t drained, I’d pin him back down and show my appreciation, but instead I turn back to my side and lazily embrace him as we lock lips for the millionth time. I don’t want this night to end, but my head aches for sleep and he breaks to yawn. His head drops to the pillow, arm still around me with the other on his rib cage. My body curls into his, falling fast asleep.
He cares too much, but so do I, and I think we’ll be okay with that.

For Klaroween Bingo - Witch - A Practical Magic/Klaroline fusion with new twists. Also, thanks to @livingdeadblondequeen  @littlebirdofthenorth and @klarolinesbuttons for some mythology lessons along the way.
Sisters Caroline and Katherine Pierce have always been considered ‘different’ but when FBI Agent Klaus Mikaelson comes to town in order to solve a mysterious death in Washington DC things get complicated (opening quotes in italics from the film and title from the soundtrack).
If You Ever Did Believe
“Is he cute?”
“Yeah, he’s...nice...in a very penal code sort of way, yeah.”
Caroline felt herself blush. The question was pretty much typical of her older sister, even in a budding crisis, but it wasn’t it that had gotten under her skin.
It was him.
And, yes, he was cute. Scratch that he was gorgeous, and not just in a penal code kind of way.
An irresistible mixture of dimples, curls and crimson lips housed in a navy henley and dark jeans. But his physical appearance wasn’t the only thing getting under her skin, she could sense something wasn’t right but couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
Time seemed to stop, for whatever reason, and she’d almost forgotten he was an FBI Agent until he flashed his badge in her direction and asked to speak with Katherine about the suspicious death of a Russian National.
Suddenly he wasn’t quite so attractive and she was going to kill Katherine for whatever mess she’d embroiled her in this time. She’d turned up on her doorstep a few nights ago and suddenly things were falling into place. Especially given she vowed never to return to San Juan because it was apparently too ‘small town’ for her liking.
They were polar opposites. Katherine was impulsive and unapologetic about her supernatural status and with that came an abundance of reckless behaviour. She’d been travelling for years but they always kept in touch through letters. The stories she told were always wild and she wouldn’t have believed them if she wasn’t Katherine Pierce.
Caroline, on the other hand, always tried to keep her identity on the down low, even with the rumours swirling in town, there was only so many insults she could take about her supernatural status.  All she really craved in life was some semblance of normalcy. But trouble tended to follow her, especially when Katherine made an impromptu visit.
“Sounds like someone has a little crush,” Katherine teased, now limbering into cat-cow pose.
“Seriously, Kat,” she huffed. “Stop dodging my questions.”
“You should really try yoga, Care, it’s a good way to relax and unwind and we all know you could use some of that.”
“You’re the only person I know who doesn’t care that a federal agent is in our backyard brandishing a firearm as we speak.”
“Are you sure it was his gun and nothing else, Care?” She blushed again, damn it. “Hey, I’ve got an idea, how about you seduce the guy and he’ll forget all about his line of questioning? It would be a win-win. I mean you haven’t gotten any in a while so really I’d be helping you.”
“Wow,’ Caroline growled. “You have not changed. And, by the way, this obsession with my sex life is unhealthy.” Maybe it was true, but given the fact she couldn’t fall in love due to the centuries-old family, death curse, there wasn’t any point.
“I’m only looking out for you...”
“What exactly have you done, Kat?” She interrupted, ignoring her comment. Caroline knew exactly what was going to follow. Katherine could separate her feelings from sex but it was something Caroline could never do which is why she stayed celibate for the most part.
“Nothing,” Caroline gave her a weary look. “Well, nothing much.”
“This murdered Russian is an attaché at the Embassy in Washington DC, it’s kind of a big deal.”
“Fine,” she admitted, albeit reluctantly. “I knew him, we spent some time together...well you know...”
“Those particular details are not necessary right now,” Caroline shot back.
“But he wasn’t a gentleman, far from it,” she shuddered, lowering her sweater to reveal numerous bruises on her skin. “I was only trying to defend myself and then suddenly he was on the floor and I was fleeing the hotel.”
Suddenly Caroline felt bad for her sister and would have been more sympathetic but the fact Klaus Mikaelson was still in their yard was weighing on her mind.
“Was he dead?”
“I didn’t stick around to check, Detective,” she growled. “Anyway, all I did was put some belladonna in his whiskey, it’s a sedative.”
“Only in small doses,” she murmured, knowing its full potential if used in excess. “We need to get downstairs, he’ll suspect something is up if not.”
 xxxxxxx
Patience wasn’t a trait that Klaus Mikaelson possessed. But when he arrived in San Juan, it seemed to become a little easier to wait, to observe, to take everything in.
To take her in.
He knew what she was, the town was rife with rumours after all, but he wasn’t expecting to feel so bewitched so soon.
Blonde waves, creamy skin and expressive, blue eyes that matched the colour of the nearby ocean. He’d faltered, albeit momentarily, and then regained his composure and asked for her sister. He noticed her once sunny expression darken and suddenly he wanted to take it all back just to see her smile again.
Standing in the garden after she’d gone to fetch her sister, Klaus tried to ignore just how good her toned backside and hips looked swinging from side to side in those dark, denim jeans.
She seemed familiar, almost like they’d met before but that would be impossible, right? That’s what he told himself anyway.
Katherine Pierce was everything he imagined. Poised, charming and flirtatious, she obviously had a way with men, Aleksey Romanoff included. She’d rattled off a story about their turbulent relationship, his violent tendencies and not seeing him for weeks. She even mentioned a weakness for men in suits, he all but stopped in recommending his older brother Elijah.
Klaus could tell she was lying. But he hadn’t pushed, mainly because her protective sister seemed to be sending him death stares from the kitchen sink. Was it wrong to feel so turned on? He left but with the promise of further questioning.
His restlessness grew at the nearby bed and breakfast he was staying at and Klaus found himself gravitating towards ‘Nourish’ the store owned by one Caroline Pierce. Klaus told himself it was for intelligence, nothing else.
“I didn’t take you for an organic moisturizer kind of guy?” She asked as he perused the shelves. If he thought she looked stunning yesterday, she looked beautiful in a flowing, white dress. And it didn’t help her floral perfume was messing with his senses.
“I moisturize,” he shot back, defensively. What he wasn’t expecting was for her to cup his chin and caress his stubble, her blue eyes regarding him seriously.
“Daily?” He was a bit taken aback by her intimate gesture to respond at first but eventually found his voice.
“When I have time,” he murmured.
“The life of a high flying FBI agent is never done I assume?” She guessed, finally letting go but all Klaus wanted was for her to keep touching him and never stop. His arousal was confirming that very fact.
“Something like that,” he rasped, knowing the real reason he couldn’t keep up his daily routine. “So, what do you recommend?”
“If this is your way of interrogating me then…”
“I’m on some rare downtime,” he said, even if it was a lie. Caroline Pierce was doing something to him and Klaus wasn’t quite sure he wanted it to end anytime soon.
“Peppermint.”
“Excuse me?” She gestured behind him.
“Your skin is on the dry side so I’d suggest the peppermint facial cream.”
“Dry?” He suddenly felt self conscious. No one had ever done that, until right now. He wanted to hate her for voicing a physical weakness but for some reason Klaus just wanted to prove her wrong and hastily picked up the bottle to pay for it.
“It’s nothing to be worried about,” she teased, packing his purchase. “I’m sure this will clear things up straight away.” But would his feelings follow suit? He wasn’t so sure.
“Promise?” He grinned.
“Or your money back.”
“I’ll hold you to that, Ms Pierce,” he joked, making his way from the store, every fiber of his being willing him to stay but he knew that wasn’t wise given his mission.
“He came into the store, like obviously he’s never heard of boundaries, Bon,” Caroline hissed, taking another tequila shot. She forgot how many that was but didn’t really care as she sucked on the lime wedge.
“And why exactly are you so bothered?” She asked, wiping down the bar as she peered at her best friend curiously.
“Well, obviously all the Kat drama,” she rolled her eyes.
“Maybe but you do realise I can see through you given we’ve been best friends since you put a spell on Jimmy Hall in the playground? I’ll never forget how he just happened to fall off those monkey bars and break his arm after teasing us all relentlessly.”
“Says the girl who could have cast her own spell,” she joked, albeit quietly. Bonnie Bennett had arrived in San Juan at the age of four and she, Katherine and Caroline had become fast friends, mainly because they were all witches. And for that reason outcasts at their school.
“I can also sense a mystical connection a mile away,” Bonnie offered. “He’s the guy, isn’t he? No one could get you this riled up.”
Caroline was hoping she wouldn’t ask but Bonnie had a sixth sense that rivalled even the most powerful witches. She couldn’t explain the connection she felt towards him but that explanation seemed to make sense. “I don’t know, well not exactly, I mean I not sure…”
“He is!” She exclaimed, piercing the general bar din as she said it and earning curious glances in their direction.
“I did that spell so I would never fall in love,” she mumbled. “No one is that unique or perfect.”
“Who’s perfect?” His low growl was causing foreign sensations to take over her body. How did this man make a simple Henley look so damn delectable? And was he stalking her?
“Well, not you,” she shot back at the intrusion and took the opportunity to down another shot for courage.
“Nobody’s perfect, love,” he agreed. “I’ll have what she’s having.” Bonnie was momentarily speechless before pouring his shot.
“Stalking is illegal in all fifty states, including Washington,” Caroline coughed, trying to ignore the burning sensation in her throat from the last shot. “I would have thought as an FBI agent you’d be familiar with the law.”
“I’m not stalking you,” he promised in that crisp accent that could lull her into a false sense of security. “It’s a small town. It’s kind of difficult to not run into anyone as I’m sure you’d know about.”
“Why are you still here then?” She bristled. “My sister said she hadn’t seen him in weeks.”
“And given yours and her body language that doesn’t seem true. The townsfolk seem to think you’re hiding things and I can’t say I disagree.”
“I never took you for the hanging committee,” she shot back, placing her lime wedge on the bar. “But it’s not like we’re not used to it.”
“I believe in innocent ‘till proven guilty,” he smiled, startling her by rubbing her lips softly. “Salt.” He offered by way of explanation, his gaze never leaving hers. She was rendered speechless, even Bonnie’s knowing look wasn’t enough to break her from the trance he’d created.
Beautiful bastard.
“I’m perfectly capable of looking after myself, buddy,” she slurred, the effects of the tequila suddenly making her sight blur and the room start to spin.
“I know that,” he murmured, his hand finding its way around her waist to keep her upright. “I think we’ll take the cheque.” Caroline could barely register what was happening until she woke hours later disoriented in her bedroom fully clothed and extremely dehydrated.
Then snippets of her memory came flashing back.
Klaus Mikaelson guiding her towards the house, his arm supportively around her waist. Klaus Mikaelson removing her shoes, placing the blanket over her and putting her to bed. Klaus Mikaelson rubbing her forehead and placing a chaste kiss on her temple and murmuring, albeit quietly.
“I dreamed of you too, love.”
She sat up with a start, trying to ignore the pain ripping through her head and work out whether it was really a dream. What did she say to him to make him say that?
xxxxxx
He didn’t mean to reveal that fact, but given she was practically sleeping Klaus thought it was safe. He ran his hands through his curls distractedly, this mission was supposed to be easy. It was anything but given the feelings she’d conjured inside him and not just because she was a witch.
When he placed a kiss on her temple, it took all his willpower not to stay the night and pull her into his embrace under the covers. What was happening to him? Klaus Mikaelson didn’t do emotions, it was always easier that way.
He’d been lying to her but usually it didn’t matter who he deceived, until now. He’d barely awoken before he saw the door fly open and she was standing at the foot of his bed, blue eyes blazing.
“Knocking wouldn’t go astray,” he smirked, stretching his arms. “Unless you purposely wanted to see me naked, Pierce?”
“You wish,” she hissed, but he couldn’t miss the blush spreading across her cheeks as she regarded his naked form.  “What do you want from me?”
“I told you…”
“Who are you, really?” He was taken aback by just how direct she was being and for some reason he felt like he couldn’t lie given her penetrating stare.
“How about if I share with you, you share with me too?” He suggested, sitting up and allowing the sheet to pool around his waist revealing his bare chest.
“I’ll keep that under advisement,” she shot back, but he couldn’t miss the way her eyes were devouring his toned chest.  “You first.”
“I’m not really an FBI agent...”
“Wow, you don’t say?”
“I’m a werewolf,” he admitted gingerly, noting her surprised expression and he was sure she was mentally kicking herself for not making the supernatural connection. He did all he could to mask his identity, it wasn’t her fault.
“He can howl at the moon,” she groaned loudly, flopping onto the nearest chair. Klaus wasn’t quite sure where she was going with this. “I really should have known.”
“Aleksey Romanoff is the alpha of a rival Russian pack. He killed two of my siblings Finn and Freya. He’s dangerous, like with your sister. I think he’s still alive, that’s why I came here.”
“So, you used me for revenge? Pretended you were somebody else because this was all a ruse.”
“I never intended on involving you or your sister,” he confessed. “If anything I felt drawn to you and being here has only amplified that fact.”
“Well, how about I leave and then everything between us will be severed for good,” she whimpered. He couldn’t miss the hurt in those blue eyes, before she fled.
Suddenly revenge didn’t matter at all.
Caroline Forbes had managed to capture every brief emotion he’d felt and it wasn’t many given his thousand year existence.
He needed to get her back. Now.

Future Dreamboat
Pairing: Time Traveller/40’s!Dean x 40’s!Reader
Summary: Based on 07x12 – Time After Time so yeah. Dean gets thrown back in time, when he needs a break he asks Eliot Ness, where the nearest bar is. A woman is in an alley that needs someone’s help, which just so happens to be Dean’s.
Warnings: Mentions of inappropriate touching
Word Count: 1445
A/N – This is my second entry for @demondeanismybaby’s Which One Are You Challenge with the quote: ‘aren’t you a handsome son of a gun,’ which has been highlighted below. This could also be an entry to my own challenge because no one snagged it so why not?
Tumblr media
Dean was thrown back in time, quite literally, he was sent to the 1940; 1944 to be exact. It was a time of danger, anywhere anyone went. Luckily, Dean knew how to handle himself, until he ended up in jail that was. The police search Dean and find an issued police badge from 2012 which happened to be 68 years into the future.
He didn’t know until he was cuffed to a table, he wasn’t in there for long, one of his heroes – Eliot Ness – is aware of the hunting world. Thankfully, Eliot released Dean.
Since the two men found out they were hunters, they joined forces, together they could defeat the monster of their time; Chronos.
The first stop, though, Eliot had suggested, was to a tailors. It would be better for Dean not to stick out like a sore thumb.
Ezra Moore. She was Eliot’s trusted tailor. Now Dean could tell that she was a character but she was definitely good at her. Ezra had shoved Dean into the dressing room where she had prepared clothes. In the dressing room, he was outfitted in a sleek navy suit. A white dress shirt paired with black and blue patterned tie. The waistcoat that adorned his torso complimented the suit as well as the brown suede dress shoes that he wore.
Even Dean’s hair had a side parting and was smoothed over to the right side of his face.
‘Well, aren’t you a handsome son of a gun.’ Ezra had admired Dean as he stepped through the curtains separating him from the tailor and the other hunter.
Dean smiled, appreciating the attention, as Eliot whistled at the transformation. Glancing at his right, he had to do a double take, catching a glimpse of himself in the reflective glass. Waltzing over the the body length mirror, taking in the new look. Of course, he had worn a suit before but never a three piece with his hair worn like this. Ezra was behind him, smoothing out the back of the suit jacket that was slightly creased.
The tailor walked around Dean and swiped a hand over his clothes, he deducted that, although he couldn’t see any more creases, she knew what she was doing or she was just used to patting down everyone’s smart attire.
Your floral knee length dress attracted the attention of unwanted men, even though there was a war going on, they we more focused on making a pass at you and trying to bed you. Anything that would get them into your unmentionables.
They would start by calling you ‘baby-doll’ a term of endearment or affection that you thought should only be used between a couple. To you, hearing that, especially coming from a few of those that were inebriated most of the time. There was no escaping them. On your way back to your home, was the saloon, it held all people some of them you had seen often and they were all the same, but you didn’t know what hurt most; when they called you a cold fish or a call-girl. None of them were flattering in the slightest.
You were either at one end of the spectrum or at the complete opposite. Being a woman, you can’t win in a world like this, not if you are with someone and have that protection, otherwise you were just another broad, another piece of meat that they could devour without having a care in the world.
There has been a few occassions where there have been a couple of creeps get a little to close and way too handsy. Tonight was one of those times. Men; they were pigs, thought with their downstairs brain and more concerned about getting some action rather than respecting another person, no less a woman.
You leant his name to be David, from the hollers of his companions from outside of the tavern. It was a little more quieter, you thought it was going to be one of the better nice, where you wouldn’t be harrassed. But the footsteps behind you alerted you that today was not to be one of those times.
Dean had asked Eliot if there was a bar nearby and there happened to be one only ten minute walk from where they were. The Winchester hunter’s head was adorned with grey fedora and most of his body from the waist down was covered in a long grey coat.
Strolling the pathway, side by side, Eliot and Dean exchange their stories so far about the hunting life in different time. There wasn’t many differences, much to both of their surprise. Only the technology and the hybrid species in the future that was about it, but Dean couldn’t reveal anymore, Sam would kill him about altering the timeline. Not that it matter with the amount of times they had already done it, and came back from the dead.
‘Please. Stop! I told you I don’t want to! Please.’
The two men had heard as they neared the bar that Dean had requested to go to. In an alleyway, they saw a woman pushed against the brick wall. Her eyes clenched shut as the man pressing near her had his hands on an inappropriate place, travelling almost deviously up and under the skirt of her dress.
‘Hey! What do you think you’re doing? The lady said no.’
His deep voice was enough for Dean not to shout, enough to intimidate the guy without raising his voice.
'What’s it to you, fella? I think you just keep walking and find your own gal.’ The woman’s eyes were closed, tears threatening to fall as she hovered from foot to foot. The back of her one and a half inch heels hitting the wall as the man hovered too close to her.
'She is my girl, so get your dirty paws off of her.’ Dean stalked over, an angry glint in his eye. Eliot stood on the outside of alley, letting Dean take the lead of the incident.
Without speaking any more, the guy took a step away from the damsel. Dean threw back his elbow and brought his fist forward to collide with the man’s nose, breaking it on impact.
Whimpering and moaning, the man scrambled back before running passed Dean and eventually passed Eliot, barging into Ness’ shoulder, not bothering to apologise as he held a palm to his crimson dripping nose.
When Dean was sure that it was only he, Eliot and the girl, Dean kept a respectable distance with his hands in the air, showing that he was no threat to the girl.
She was still. Unmoving. To scared to move in fear that he would be like the other monster of a man. He waved off Eliot, silently communicating that should deal with the man whilst Dean would help the girl.
‘My name is Dean. I’m not gonna hurt you, sweetheart. What’s your name?’
‘My name? My name is Y-Y/N. He’s-he’s not coming back is he?’ Y/N worried, her delicate hands fisting at her cardigan and pulling it tighter around her body.
‘Hey Y/N,’ Dean had calmly murmured, still gaining her attention. His callous yet soft fingers grazed hers, it seemed like her panic had wound her up so much that the contact had caused her to fall into Dean’s arms. ‘He’s not going to hurt you anymore. I’m right here. I’ll drop you home, make sure you’re safe.’
‘Thank you.’
Dean had tucked you under his arm as he led you to the apartment that you called home. There was something different about Dean, besides the fact that he made your insides warm and made you feel safe, he wasn’t like the other men, He was a dreamboat that was for sure but he still valued women as equals.
The walk, now that you were with Dean, was miles too short for your liking. Climbing the stairs, you didn’t let go of Dean but he had the right idea following you inside and getting you settled into your own house.
He had sat you on your couch as he boiled water over the stove and made you a hot beverage, wrapped you in a blanket before smoothly stalking through your aprtment to your bedroom, seeking a nightgown and robe. He handed them to you, telling you to give him a shout when you had changed into your nightwear.
‘Where did you come from?’ You muttered under your breath. There was no way that this man was real.
‘You wouldn’t believe me if I told you, Y/N.’ You could see the pain on his face as a bittersweet smile arose.
Lemme know what you think…

Slam Dunk Chapter Three
Tumblr media
You guys didn’t think I’d be this quick with editing, did you? Neither did I haha. Okay, you guys have waited long enough for this chapter, here it is!
Slam Dunk Chapter 3
Previously on Slam Dunk
“So, tell me more about this Francesca.”
Chapter 3
"She's great. She's a doctor. A vet, actually. A huge animal lover, and she's such a sweet person." Derek answers, his face lights up as he talks about the woman.
Ahsha feels jealousy running though her body as Derek concludes his comment. How dare another woman though her body as Derek concludes his comment. How dare another woman enter the picture when the wounds of the divorce haven't even healed?
"Has she met the kids yet?" She inquires, crossing her arms over her thin frame.
The thought of Derek welcoming another woman in the presence of their kids scared her. The kids having two women they call mom, worries her more than she will ever admit.
"We've talked about her meeting the kids and she's a little nervous about it, she doesn't want them thinking she's taking you place." The dancer folds her arms and rolls her eyes.
"Sure, she doesn't." She scoffs, alarming Derek at the change in behavior.
"Aren't you happy for me?" He asks, wondering if she is jealous and throws his head into his hands. Having Ahsha jealous was not part of his plan.
"How dare you Derek," Ahsha starts through clenched teeth. "You just had sex with me in here and then you tell me about this new girl right after when I thought we would be able to fix this thing between us, and then have the nerve to ask if I'm happy for you!"
"Look we can always be friends, Ahsh."
The dancer drops down to the floor, pulling her knees up to her head and throws her head into her lap no longer wanting to hear Derek’s mouth.
"Ahsha?"
"Can you stop talking?" She angrily snaps, slightly hurting Derek's feelings.
"I-"
"Derek!" She screams out once again, ready to bash the man's head against the wall.
The young ex lovers sit on the floor, shoulders touching, with words unspoken gracing the tip of their tongues.
Ahsha Hayes-Roman thought she had moved on from her ex husband of seventeen years but was obviously proven wrong. The love that she had for Derek ran deeper than her heart could ever allow at the moment.
To say she was not bothered by Francesca, no matter how sweet the woman was, is an understatement. The mere thought of Derek's lips on another woman's made her insides turn.
"Derek?" Ahsha asks as another silent moment passes the two of them.
"Yeah?"
Ahsha shakes her head and places it into her palms, not being able to stomach losing Derek and brings her knees up to her chest. The reality of being stuck in an elevator with her ex husband put the queasy feeling back into her stomach all over again.
"Are you okay?" Derek asks as he noticed Ahsha's breathing growing heavier.
Hot tears of fear and anger rush down his ex wife's face, slightly alarming him.
The light in the elevator shuts off only to be replaced by a small light in the ceiling.
"I'm fine!" She barks back, wiping her face.
"Have you forgotten that I know you off the back of my hand? You're not fine." Derek states in a calm matter, pissing Ahsha off all the more.
An aggravated Ahsha slams her hands down on the floor of the elevator, ready to smack Derek all over again.
The former baller inches closer to his ex wife and crosses his arms, looking down on her. "Ahsha."
A loud, aggravated sigh escapes the woman's lips. "Can you please, please, please, please, please, please, please, stop talking?" She pleads, quoting the famous Ernest Hemingway's Hills Like White Elephants.
"Hemingway. Nice."
Ahsha picks her head up and brings her hand up to smack Derek's smug smile off his attractive face, when Mr. Handsome himself grabs her hand in his.
She frowns and tries to remove her hand from his, so Derek furthers his teasing. Making his ex wife squirm was something that made Derek quite proud.
Ahsha climbs into Derek's lap, still trying to free her hand. "Can you let go?" She asks, nearly shouting.
Realizing that her other hand is freed, she repeats the same cycle, when Derek grabs her other hand in his as well.
"You are an ass."
"And you're not?" He tells her, leaning closer to her, effortlessly taking the breath out her lungs.
"You and this cocky attitude. I honestly don't know why I ever married..." Derek cuts Ahsha off, chuckling as he leans his forehead against Ahsha’s, still holding on to her hands.
"You don't know why you married me?" He quizzes as her breath hitches in her throat.
"I-I..." The dancer stutters, amusing the man who is holding her hostage.
"You what?"
The elevator lights flicker back on and starts to move down, alarming the ex couple who had expected this affair to last all night.
The two silently wait for the elevator to reach the first floor, the events that occurred in the elevator were enough to traumatize both of them.
It was enough to keep them coming back to each other.
"Where'd you park?" Derek asks, noticing how dark it is outside as he heads to his car.
"I'm just around the corner."'
Derek stops dead in his tracks and looks at his ex wife who is about to go the opposite way from him.
"I can drive you there. I don't feel safe with you walking around the corner this late at night."
"I'll be fine."
Having no time for Ahsha and her stubbornness, Derek grabs her hand and leads her to his car. To say sparks didn't ignite inside these two when they touched would be an exaggeration.
"I'm not going to let you do that." He answers, slightly turning Ahsha on with the tired and aggressive bass in his voice.
"I'm sorry, since when are you allowed to play my guardian angel? I don't need to be babied."
"Can you stop being so stubborn?"
"Stubborn? Derek I can walk by myself."
Derek grabs the bridge of his nose as he gets to Ahsha's side of the car to open the door for her.
"And what? You get snatched? I’ll never see you again? The kids wouldn't be able to live with that." He answers, truthfully, also hiding the fact that he'd be heartbroken if something happened to his first love. Having something happen to Ahsha would tear him to pieces as well.
Ahsha Hayes-Roman is more than just his ex wife of seventeen years. She was one of the best friends that he has ever had, someone he confided in at all times. To lose someone as amazing as Ahsha all over again would be difficult for the man to handle.
A scoff escapes those perky lips as the dancer gets into the back seat car to avoid smacking her ex husband for the second time that night. "What about you?" She asks. Ignoring her question, Derek looks over and sees a certain someone calling him.
"Oh, no. Allow me to answer it." Ahsha smirks and grabs the phone, threatening to answer it, when Derek leaps into the car to grab the phone.
He reaches for Ahsha's stunned hand and grabs the phone, locking it and throwing it across from her in the driver's seat.
The woman lets out a loud sigh, leaving the man in front of her quite amused.
"Are you jealous?" Derek asks cockily, grinning at his ex wife.
"Of her? Oh please. We both know I can love you better than she can." She says with an amused expression on her face.
One thing that Derek Roman appreciates about Ahsha is her inability to realize that she admits nothing but the whole truth when she is completely exhausted.
"Oh, really?"
Ahsha rolls her eyes and slams her lips onto her ex husband's, taking Derek both by surprise for a second. Naturally Derek's hands fall where they have always fell whenever they kissed with this much power and force, straight to the hem of Ahsha's bottoms.
Derek moves his lips to Ahsha's jawline, kissing her all the way up to her ear. "And how is that?" He growls before snaking his large hands into her shirt and up her sports bra.
"I've known you since we were kids. Of all people you'd be an open book with, it..." she is cut off by Derek quickly removing and throwing her sports bra to the floor.
"Continue." He urges as his hot breath hits Ahsha's hard areola, making her jump a bit.
"Was always me. I know you better than you know yourself." She replies, tears threatening to spill from her eyes.
Getting emotional in front of her ex husband was enough to make her quiet. Little did she know, her ex husband felt the same.
So much for saying she knows him off the back of his hand.
To distract herself, she pulls Derek's face back up and peppers his soft pillow-like lips with kisses as she pulls his pants down, taking his hard piece into her small hands.
Derek becomes putty in Ahsha's hands, making her smile against his lips when he moans while kissing her. Moving her hands even faster, Ahsha closes her eyes as Derek pulls her closer, continuing to mess with the hem of her leggings.
Leaving Derek at his peak, Ahsha moves her hand slower, tightening up her grip even more. Derek struggles to hold on and lightly bites down on Ahsha's shoulder, sexily moaning in his ex wife’s ear.
Derek's warm liquids spill over Ahsha's hand which she shrugs off.
"I'm sick of these leggings." Derek expresses out loud, coming off his high and pulls down Ahsha's black leggings along with her lacy navy blue thong.
"Wearing Vic for me, I see." He teasers, causing Ahsha to laugh and roll her eyes at him.
"Sure, Derek." She jokes while Derek moves hard piece up and down Ahsha's center, teasing her. He connects their lips together, running his tongue across her bottom lip. Their mouths continue to explore each other's as Derek continues to tease Ahsha.
Quiet moans escape the dancer's lips as the man slowly slides himself inside of her.
Ahsha starts to grind her hips on Derek's hard piece, turning him on even more by her slow wind.
Derek matches Ahsha's slow movements, looking into her brown eyes filled with more than just lust but with something neither of them can admit, love.
Ahsha places her hands on his stubbly jaws causing Derek to kiss her again as he quietly moans into the kiss.
The two move to open mouth kisses accompanied by Ahsha's fast breathing due to Derek changing the pace.
The man can barely hold on inside of Ahsha's slick core and pumps wildly, taking the dancer by surprise.
Derek removes one hand from Ahsha's waist and uses the other to stimulate her even further, nearly making her cry from pleasure. To add to this, he pulls away from the dancer's swollen pink lips and moves down to the sweet spot on her neck.
"Shit. Shit. Shittttttt." Ahsha whimpers as she is close to her peak, shaking her legs.
"I know." Derek whispers, his voice sounding a mixture of tired and close to his peak as well.
Derek continues to thrust even faster, nearly causing Ahsha to fall out of the seat, amusing them both.
Fingernails bore into his back and shoulders as his pace slows down and he releases himself into his former lover at the same time she did.
Coming off their high, Derek lovingly bores his eyes into Ahsha's, his heart melting at her tired beauty.
He carefully lifts her up and slides out of her, pressing a kiss to her forehead.
The two dress themselves all over again and sit next to each other, completely silent about the event that had just taken place.
The love filled silence lasts until a cell phone rings with a concerned veterinarian calling. The two scramble for the phone when Ahsha grabs it and answers it, placing it up to her ear and hears a soft voice on the other end.
"Hey. I was just calling to see if you were okay. It's not like you to not answer your phone." The woman on the other end says.
Out of instinct, Ahsha answers the phone. "Yeah, Derek's fine. Who is this?"
"I'm sorry, who are you? Oh, I must have the wrong number!" The girl frantically replies, shaking now that she heard Ahsha's voice which did not sound amused or pleasant.
"I'm Ahsha. Who are you?" She asks in an irritated manner as Derek tries to grab the phone from her again. Keeping the man in check, Ahsha holds her hand up.
"I'm Francesca. It's good that Derek's fine. Thanks for letting me know."
Ahsha rolls her eyes at the woman's sickeningly sweet voice. "Why is she so nice?" She asks herself.
"Mhm." Ahsha answers, what is this, jealousy? The woman had never had a jealous bone in her body when it came to females, she had gotten her fair share of them for eighteen years. What makes this any different? Derek was now attracted to another woman and that right there put the jealous bone in her body.
"Okay, well, see ya."
"Byeeee." Ahsha drags out, hanging up the phone and passes it to a pissed off Derek.
Francesca's house
The woman on the other end of that phone call sits in bed with her legs up to her chest as her best friend Claire walks into the room with a pint of ice cream.
"Ces, what's wrong?" She asks, seeing the woman looking upset and disturbed about the events that went down.
"I spoke to Ahsha." She simply states before laying down, not wanting any parts of Claire's company nor her suggestions.
"What did she say?"
"Derek's fine, but Claire, I'm certain that he's still in love with her and I'm just the distraction." Francesca buries her head in her hands, ready to go to bed.
"You can't just jump to a conclusion like t-" The brunette cuts her best friend off and starts to speak. Who was Claire to tell her that she jumped to conclusions when she didn't even hear one bit of the awkward conversation on the phone?
"Ahsha answered the phone! Why would Derek be with her if he didn't still love her?" She asks, feeling fed up with her best friend trying to get her to open up. If Francesca Rose Hill wanted to be stubborn, she could be without her best friend getting in her way, but the two knew that was not going to happen.
"Fran."
"Claire. I'm over it and I'm going to bed. Goodnight."
"But Fran." Claire calls again, trying to get her quiet best friend to open up more.
"Goodnight, Claire!" Francesca screams, her voice cracking, breaking her best friend's heart.
The blonde simply walks out of the room feeling glum as her best friend cuddles with her dog and heads to bed with her broken heart.
Kyle's house
"She's still not answering." Kyle huffs as she shoves a handful of popcorn into her mouth after marching downstairs for a midnight snack.
"I'm telling you, she's being dicked down by Derek right now." Jelena jokes, trying to provide some light to this situation.
"Maybe we should call Derek?" The blonde suggests, rubbing her temples.
Jelena reaches for her iPhone 7 and starts to dial the familiar number in her phone and waits for an answer. "Put it on three way." Jelena suggests.
Derek and Ahsha
"Who told you to answer my phone?" Derek asks again, boring his eyes into the woman seated next to him wearing a smug smile.
"What? She wanted to know if you were okay and that's exactly what I told her." Ahsha replies as Derek answers Kyle's call. The man chuckles at the response given by his former wife and looks at her, putting his phone down.
"Whether you like it or not Ahsha, I'm moving on and I'm not going to let you get in the way of that."
"The divorce papers aren't even finalized yet and you're thinking about moving on. We just had sex and you're thinking about moving on. You should've clarified that before we got this far." Ahsha snaps, throwing her hands up and feeling heated about what happened.
"Had you not thrown yourself on me..."
The woman practically freezes, ready to go crazy, but allows herself some composure.
"Don't you dare say I threw myself on you! Was it not you who kissed me first, or stayed in the rehearsal studio with me? Was it not you who had sex with me? Derek, we both know you could've left. Don't try me today." She says, rubbing her temples. The man is speechless and looks away from Ahsha, feeling guilty for what he said to her.
The couple stay quiet in the car and hear a woman's thick country accent in the background.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Kyle." Ahsha says, awkwardly. Hearing her best friend on the other end of that phone was enough to catch her off guard. It was enough to put her back into check about her actions.
"Ahsha, where are you?"
"Derek and I got stuck in the elevator at work. I'm on my way over now. Derek was just driving me back to my car since I'm parked far."
On the other end of the phone, the blonde looks over at her best friend, raising her eyebrows at her and scrambles to find a response. The three women knew inside that the situation Ahsha kept throwing herself into was something
"Okay. I'll see you when you get here babe." Kyle answers before hanging up the phone feeling a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach in regards to her best friend.
Derek stuffs his phone into his pocket and looks at Ahsha.
"Let's go." He says in a cold manner, making Ahsha shiver a bit.
The businessman starts the car and drives around the corner to his ex wife's black Jeep and watches her scramble for her things.
"Thanks for driving me." Ahsha mumbles, feeling her body numb at Derek's cold manner towards her.
The man doesn't say a word as she climbs out of his car and back into her own. He waits for her to start her car, an interesting gesture, and drives back home to call his upset girlfriend.
Ahsha lets out an exasperated sigh and makes the familiar route to her house, quietly playing Banks’ Better as the sun starts to rise, concentrating on the deep lyrics.
How couldn’t you see?
All the water’s cold
While you lied to me
You hide in a hole
And why don’t you see?
Baby try, try to see
I can love you better than she can
The young mother arrives home around five in the morning, feeling her heart break as she climbs into her cold fluffy bed, wishing the man she once loved was by her side all over again.
Derek Roman is officially, unofficially, hers to have and to hold, forever. Or not.
I hope you enjoyed reading this chapter and I hope it was well worth the wait!

Young Pre-op MTF Transgender and car insurance in New York State?
Ok, this question may sound odd, but I could use an answer. As I'm MTF (Male-to-female) Transsexual, have been on hormones for several years and will probably go for SRS (sex reassignment surgery) in the future, I could easily get a letter stating that my predominant gender is female. In New York State, this is apparently all that is required to change the gender marker on one's driver's license. http://rnytg.org/dmv.html Now my question is the following; I just haven't bothered with changing the marker on my license yet as it seems like a hassle and I don't think it's really necessary at the moment. However, my dad wants to gift me a car at the end of the week. For this car, I'm going to want an insurance policy. I'm currently 20 years old, and I'm very much aware that insurance policies are MUCH more expensive for young male drivers as opposed to young female drivers . Thus, I ask, is the gender the insurance company uses linked to my driver's license or some other form of ID (as I really can't change anything else, save my passport on a temporary basis yet). If I got the marker changed, would my quote decrease (I would probably go with USAA as I'm eligible given my dad is a Navy Vet)? Thanks!""

Because we are married, other insurance companies have either quoted her higher premiums or refused a quote for her based upon my mistake. How much will my car insurance go up because of a ticket?
The other day, I was in a hurry to get to school, and I was pulled over going 70mph in a 45mph speed zone. I haven't told my father yet (I'm not yet 18.), but I am selling a lot of video games I do not play anymore to pay for the ticket and any other increased insurance rates. My question is: how much will my car insurance (USAA Full Coverage) rates increase per month because of this ticket? I drive a 2008 Super Black 350z, and I have been involved in an accident, so my rates are already about $500/mo. Friends have told me that my insurance will go up at least $200. Is this true? i just got a '01 explorer from a dealer less than a month ago, two days ago i rolled it, now its totaled. i only have LIABILITY insurance, and the insurance company said i have to pay off the rest of the car, which i expected, but when i called the dealer she said she might be able to count the car as a total loss, and get me in another car from them, without paying for the old one anymore. she is going to let me know in a couple days if they can. is this possible to just somehow avoid all the payments on the old car and start over new? are they scared i would end up not paying them for a car i dont have, so they somehow write it off and start a new payment plan on a whole new car? Will they try to get me in a new car and pile on my old car payments with new ones? when they call back should i act like i wont pay on that car to persuade them to write that totaled car off ? i dont know what to do, i cant afford two car payments and now im carless bumming rides which i cant do for long. The reason i am asking before the lady gets back to me is: its a dealer, and im pretty inexperienced with this, and i just want to know how this all works so i know how to talk to and possibly negotiate with the dealer before i end up missing (or screwing up) an opportunity before its too late""

At fault driver's car insurance won't pay for my damages!?
Hey guys and gals, My wife was in a car accident on 10/8 driving our truck with liability only insurance (IE: not full coverage because the truck is only worth ~$3000 and it's paid for). She was turning right and had slowed down to turn (with her turn signal on) when a speeding truck slammed into the van behind her, ramming the van in to our truck. The police filed a report, in which the driver of the speeding truck (an 18 year old kid, that had just left his house less than 1/4 mile away) was determined to be at fault. It is worth note that this happened in front of two different auto body shops, and within sight of the house the at fault driver had just left. Their insurance company, state farm, finally contacted us on 11/8 after not returning our phone calls for nearly two weeks saying they had determined he was in fact at fault and would send an adjuster the following Monday. He came, inspected the truck, determined it was repairable, then said we would hear from their office later that day. When they called they told us the damage was more than 75% of the vehicles worth so it was considered total and they would send the required paperwork to my email address to begin payment. Within 3 hours, the claim agent we had talked to the previous Friday said an owner of one of the auto shops had came forward (all of a sudden, no mention of a witness before) and that he had a notarized statement saying the van struck our vehicle before the truck struck the van. The insurance company now will not pay us for the damages. We tried to call the witness and get a copy of his report because State Farm would not give us the copy. Then we called the other auto body shop and both the owner and one of his employees both seen the accident and say that the truck was at fault, and the owner overheard the driver say specifically that it was his fault. When we bring this to the agents attention, she claims this is not evidence because they know the at fault driver. We found out that the first witness also knows the driver, but can't prove it. Ours is a small town, you don't have neighbors that you don't know or speak to. It seems we are at an impasse, and I have been without a truck for nearly 6 weeks. What should I do in this instance? Get an attorney? Our insurance agency is adamant about not intervening since we did not have full coverage insurance. It may be worth noting that my wife has had back and neck pain since the accident and went to the hospital the day of the accident, the family doctor twice since, and has an appointment with a chiropractor next week (all of which our insurance has paid for.)""

Isn't the real problem causing a health care crisis in USA that cost of healthcare/insurance is too high?
Health care costs are out of control and so is the cost to insure. Because of the high cost of insurance many employers no longer offer what used to be a very common employee benefit. So now we millions of americans who are uninsured because they cant afford to go out and pay 600, 700,800, 900 dollars a month for private health insurance coverage. The rich and the fortunate ones with group insurance are taken care of. The ones who dont work and are on medicaid are taken care of, but the ones who are above the poverty line and work but are struggling as it is to make ends meet cannot afford the high insurance premiums and are left uninsured. We need to find a way to make health insurance and health care more affordable ..this is how people will get insurance on their own and the government will not have to tax us more to provide more free health care.""

California health insurance?
I am looking to get health insurance for a year, more to take care of neglected issues than to cover my butt if I get sick/hurt (I'm 27, betting on youth and good health!). Kaiser seems to be the most appealing because they cover a broader range of services. I am namely interested in physical therapy (winged scapula), dermatology (oily skin/acne), perhaps mental illness services as I have suffered from depression (although I somewhat consider it a problem of my past). I'm aware insurance plans won't cover preexisting conditions, but how can they really prove these issues didn't start yesterday, right? I'm overwhelmed with my choices. Is it worth paying $330/mo for $0 deductible, 0% coinsurance, $40 co pays and a max out of pocket @ $3000? Or is it smarter to pay $166/mo, $2700 deductible, 0% coinsurance, $0 co pays after deductible, and max out of pocket @ $5000 (including deductible)? Etc. I have put off getting insurance because I'm scared I will pick a completely inappropriate plan. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?""

""If women get low car insurance rates, because they are rated as a group, shouldn't men have low medical rates?""
Women get low car rates b/c they, as a group, are less likely to have accidents. Feminists quote this fact all the time. Yet women live 8+ yrs. longer than men, and spend the last years of their lives using numerous and costly medical resources. Women use ~50% more medical resources than men. Why, then, aren't women required to pay higher medical premiums? Why aren't feminists marching on Washington demanding that women pay more? Oh, sorry ... I forgot. Feminists say they want equality, but their actions show different.""
Car Rental Insurance?
I will be going to the US soon. I am a US citizen but do not live in the US. I will be going to visit family for a month and will be renting a car. My question is this, do I need to get the insurance from the vendor or is there a 3rd party insurance I can puchase? Most of the car rental places have LDW / CDW insurance for purchase but this almost doubles the cost of rental. My credit cards and car insurance here in my country of residence do not cover car rentals so I will have to get something. Ok so I hit someones bumper, my fault. I don't have insurance but they do. Her car insurance called me the next day asking for basic info. A couple days later the car owner called me and said she didn't want to go through the insurance company because it would take her too long to receive her deductible back. She said she was going to pay the deductible to allstate and get the car fixed but not go after me I guess, I don't really get it, as long as I pay her back for the deductible. My car insurance is ridiculous!?
I am entering my 4th year of driving (22 yr old) with absolutely no claims and even with comparing market my car insurance goes up every year. New comparison has come out at over 2500 quid! I drive a 2.2 diesel but even on a little 1.0 aygo or similar car it is over a grand. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm going to quit driving. I have paid out over 8000 in insurance premiums with no claims and it is getting increasingly difficult to save for a house as you need around 30000 for a deposit.
Car insurance payments?
I'm slightly confused over my car insurance. I took out a 12 month policy in December 2008 (paid a deposit at the time) and then paid by monthly installments. I then continued this policy in December 2009. However I have now cancelled this policy as another company could provide it cheaper. But I've been told by relatives that I won't be charged my monthly fee this month (i.e my pay day tomorrow!) because I have already paid the full amount for the 2 years. Is this correct?

Thoughts today
It is 2017. I'm a sophomore in college and the president of the United States is Donald fucking Trump. If you're finding this post hundreds of years from now you may be wondering "Donald Trump? The infamous, moronic reality star from that shitty show the Apprentice? The guy with a long history of bankruptcy, tax evasion, sexual harassment, and almost absolutely NO political knowledge or experience? How in tarnation did he acquire the most prestigious position in the country?" Well, future reader, that's a very good question. I'll be exploring that. Now, if you're reading this in modern times, then you're probably my facebook friend and you either hate me for my liberal posts, or you hype me up on my politically poised statuses, to both groups I would like to apologize for the length of this post (if you make it all the way through you're a real trooper). Either way, you probably fall into one of three categories of people who fought the good fight to elect our president for the 2016-2020 term. All three of these categories can be described as bad, there's no doubt about that, but I personally can only find a solid argument in the defense of the category I belong to, and a partial, half-ass defense for one of the others, the remaining, however, I can make almost no excuses for. You either voted liberal (Democratic) for Hillary Clinton, a slanted and shady lady with priorities being placed mostly on her wallet. Hillary isn't a truly good woman, she lies and manipulates people, but out of the two big party candidates, she is absolutely the lesser of two evils. She isn't all bad either, advocating for women and immigrants in America, and whatnot. If you didn't vote liberal then you either fall into one of the two remaining categories. You either voted conservative (Republican) for Donald Trump, a category I refuse to make excuses for, or almost just as bad as the latter of the first two categories, you voted 3rd party (Independent) or you didn't vote at all. Notice that I'm putting 3rd party voters in the same group as the 42.1% of America that didn't vote. The people in this group are just plain negligent. Not that I am usually opposed to 3rd party voting, mind you, I think that the Independent party is important and greatly under appreciated for their values and ideas, but this year a swell of 3rd party voting occurred because, of the 57.9% of America that voted, a majority of people spent months trying to figure out who they hated less and who was slightly less morally repugnant than the other (a clear choice to me but, surprisingly enough, not so clear for everyone else) but, conveniently, just a month or two (maybe three) before the voting took place 3rd party candidates like Jill Stein and Gary Johnson magically got enough funding I guess, to start making their social media and television debuts, to reel in clueless and confused voters looking for a way out of this "hard" decision between two evils. With promises of safe haven and a president with some actual political experience (as if Hil couldn't have given us those things) many new, young and uninformed voters cast their votes for 3rd party candidates, or in other words threw their vote pretty much right out the window. Although they weren't the only ones about 14,000 people wrote in Harambe (a poor gorilla shot down in his prime at the Cincinnati zoo this past year and then turned into a widely famous internet meme), and, as I mentioned previously, 42.1% of America just didn't care enough/couldn't make themselves choose/couldn't be bothered to register to vote for what could very possibly be the most influential and upsetting presidential election of all time. I know some of my closest friends aren't registered to vote and, to quote them, "understand it's a privilege and a blessing that we get to vote, they are just choosing not to exercise their right to vote" for whatever reason it was that they had at the time. I love all my friends (friends who didn't vote, I love you endlessly still, but the truth of the matter is that I am disappointed) and I'm always quick to defend them, but in this case I cannot defend their actions, or lack there of, because if half the people who didn't vote, or all of the people who voted 3rd party, voted for Hilary we wouldn't be in this mess. If you voted 3rd party or you didn't vote at all, I really can't and don't want to listen to a word you have to say about the state of our country or our new president because you are to blame just as much as the people who voted for him. And if that makes you mad or upset then so be it, because if you had been just as mad or upset as that statement just made you before he won we could have prevented that. Now that being said, Donald Trump is the president of the United States and there is nothing we can do but pray for a speedy impeachment, which is inevitable, so at least that's good, but Mike Pence and Paul Ryan are both horrible people as well so the future, at best, has a dim glow to it in my eyes. Trump has been in office for about 2 weeks now. Already he has banned immigration and travel into the United States from 7 "unsafe" and largely Muslim nations, he has moved to put the "gag rule" (regarding nongovernment corporations which offer abortion services being defunded) back in place, he has moved to start planning for the wall which is going to cost us roughly 55 billion dollars, he ordered a millitary raid without sufficient intelligence in Yemen which lead to numerous civilian deaths as well as the death of an 8 year old American girl and a US Navy Seal, he started a fight with FUCKING AUSTRALIA ONE OF THE MOST PEACEFUL COUNTRIES EVER BESIDES SWEDEN AND NOT TO MENTION ONE OF OUR ALLIES, and he announced that he plans to get rid of the law that prevents churches (cough cough Westboro Baptist cough) from political engagement because as if all the other things weren't bad enough he's just gonna shit on the Constitution and Thomas Jefferson's expressed intent of keeping church and state SEPARATE. And to top off all of the aforementioned actions, he has tweeted about most if not all of these things in a childlike and unfit manner, further proving that America is digressing instead of progressing as a country. One of the scariest things about this presidency, to me, is the ignorance it is perpetuating. Donald Trump has exhibited most, if not all, of the signs of fascism, for those of you unaware of what fascism is look up Benito Mussolini or read the book 1984 then let me know what you think. There are two kinds of Republicans in America now, there are silent Republicans, those who are conservatives at heart (almost an oxymoron haha) who are freaking out about the lack of control they have over Donald and who really just wanted a Republican life in America but are getting much more than they bargained for; and there are alt-right, die hard Trump supporters. These are the nazis. They straight up are racist, misogynistic (even the women like what the fuck what is wrong with you seriously) and zenophobic. The supporters of Trump range in their degree of support, some silent Republicans just want to hold on to the sliver of hope that they didn't completely fuck their country over and that Donald might do what they want him to do (and not just whatever the fuck he wants to do because that's super likely and he's a super dependable and honorable man, sarcasm intended). But all supporters of Trump not only perpetuate the level of ignorance they assume to defend this man but they so aggressively (and possibly unknowingly, to a certain extent) promote twisted and false propaganda and the silence of others opposed to them, that I have been seeing a new kind of human being that I didn't even know existed. I have been called every name in the book since Trump won (not unwarranted I must add, I'm a very passionate girl with a very bad Irish temper) because I have stood up for my views and morals in the wake of his election. I will not back down from fighting the good fight. I will fight for the rights of women, immigrants, minorities and the poor. I will fight for our homeless population, both civilian and veteran. I will fight for Native Americans whose land is still being ripped from them for the benefit of corporate and industrial America. I will stand up for those with mental disabilities and those who can't stand up for themselves. And because of this I am a cry baby, a pussy liberal, a whiner, a bitch, a spoiled, overprivileged millennial who throws a fit anytime I don't get what I want. I know that I am a loving and compassionate person who cares for everyone and just wants the best for ALL human beings with great respect to democracy (although I strongly identify as a democratic socialist by my own philosophies), but in the minds of the people who call me those names I may actually be all those things, and that's where I have started to notice the problem amid humanity that has arisen (and has been arising in society for quite some time now, with regards to its previous and everlasting existence throughout the development of the human race). This problem being the lack of empathy and understanding leading to the loss of humanity. People are slowly becoming more and more isolated as we are in the new age of technology. The more isolated we become the more humanity we lose. Technology makes it really easy to desert your humanity, especially when the isolationist philosophy is so widely spread by society. The idea that "I am the only one who matters because I am me, I should look out for me and only me". We see this idea everywhere, especially in my generation, the social media generation, with trends like Waste His/Her Time 2016/2017 or most blatantly obvious, the corporate world that America has created within its own society. It's easy to not care about other people's lives and problems because you will never feel the effect of the actions that cause their problems, so how could it concern you? Plenty of philosophers have said it, you really only have yourself since you live alone and you die alone, right? As Aldous Huxley said in his literary masterpiece Doors Of Perception, "From family to nation, every human group is a society of island universes." How could you be expected to tend to your own universe while also tending to the 7 billion other universes functioning simultaneously around you? Just don't expose yourself to news and current events that don't affect you directly, and look out for what benefits you and your wallet the most and you'll live a happy, full life (by American standards), right? This philosophy is easy for people to adapt because caring hurts. Because giving all of your love away is exhausting, and because if they were to lose that philosophy, and still live their lives the way that only benefits them, their conscious would have a hard time ridding itself of the everlasting guilt. That is, if they really are human beings, and not sociopaths/psychopaths, which studies by Canadian forensic psychologist Robert Hare show that in comparison to the prevalence rate, 1%, of the general population that can be categorized as psychopathic, 10% of the financial services industry is psychopathic. Who cares that an estimated 1.5 million women are going to lose access to contraception because of the Mexico City policy? Who cares that an estimated 6.5 million unintended pregnancies will happen, who cares about what happens to those kids who are going to be born into terrible lives? We don't have to see them day to day, we don't have to live their hard lives. That's for them to deal with, while we march onwards toward victory for pro-life and conservatism, its not enough to take away just our funding we have to take away all funding so we can be happy and God can say good job guys! Those kids deserved to be born into poverty and famine, that mother deserved to die in childbirth, this is just what I wanted! I'm sure that child who was born won't ever wish they were never born, they'll be thankful your actions brought them into this world to suffer! Sorry this is turning pro-choice, back to the real problem. People don't think about others anymore. I always try to do things I find are common courtesy and proper etiquette, such as holding the door for people, picking up something for someone who dropped it near me, smiling at people, giving people compliments, etc. and most of the time I find that the reactions I get when I do these things are of genuine surprise and sadly enough, sometimes contempt. It's become common policy to ignore those around you, to retreat into yourself and fuss with your phone so you can avoid talking to that person in a wheelchair that just got into the elevator with you or the person sitting next to you at the doctor's office. I realize it may seem like I'm asking for a lot to some people, because not everyone is born with the innate wonder that I have about other's lives, to look at someone else and think "what kind of struggles do you go through everyday? How can those struggles be solved?" It is very easy to ignore the problems of others when we are well-off ourselves, people become blind to the truth. It is very easy to make excuses for politicians, for religious leaders, for "respected" members of society, for the elite, and especially for ourselves. But it's not easy to recognize, acknowledge, and empathize with the trials and tribulations our fellow members of the human race experience. To do that it means you have to feel, you have to open your mind, and you have to try to be able to sleep at night knowing babies are born into famine and war everyday, not only in foreign countries (which we so lovingly refer to as Third World, uncivilized societies) but in our own nation (i.e. gang culture, drug and sex trade culture, racially prejudiced culture, homophobic and zenophobic culture). It hurts, and I know first-hand from many of my own issues dealing with emotional trauma that it is easier to shut yourself off to the world, turn off your humanity and tell yourself that you don't care because it doesn't concern you. I implore you to try your hardest everyday to care about others, to care about who may suffer from the consequences of the actions of not only yourself but those around you and most obviously so now, our nation. In addition, many of the Trump supporters, or just regular conservatives, that I have been interacting with have been enacting tactics of gaslighting and selective prioritization. They attack my views by questioning my patriotism and my morals, "why don't we help our own homeless veterans before we support a bunch of foreigners? Do you not care about our citizens who are dying in the streets here? Do you want to see America attacked on it's own soil again? Are you against America since you say it was never great?" By dividing us as a human race, by telling yourself that our homeless veterans are any more important than the homeless of other nations, you are prioritizing American lives when there need not be prioritization. Both groups of people are equally in need of help, and help can be given in tandem. (I'll bypass the fact that America is literally comprised of foreigners and was started for the purpose of escaping religious persecution and immigration). These are the same people that blissfully ignore the fact that the homeless veterans they believe are more important than refugees will suffer from the economic decisions of the Trump administration, and don't do much, if anything, to advocate for that group of people. They use them as examples, but don't contribute to the resolution of the continual epidemic of homelessness. The same goes for many pro-life advocates and activists. They talk about believing in the rights of each individual human being, but yet neglect the consequences of what they advocate for. How can you be "pro-life" but ignore the lives that are ruined by taking away the option of abortion? How can you be "pro-life" but do nothing for the reform and rehabilitation of the foster care/social work system where so many of these "unintentional" or "unwanted" children end up? You are always entitled to stand up for what you believe in, but that doesn't mean that you are entitled to vilify the beliefs of others or ignore that there are more ideologies than just your system of beliefs, and just because you haven't adapted them, doesn't mean yours are the only valid views. You must take your views into account and you must try, really actively try, to take the opposing party's views into account, then and only then can you attempt to reach any kind of understanding, nonetheless resolution. The solutions to these problems don't come easy, obviously or some of them would have been solved decades, if not centuries ago. But if everyone just talks over top of everyone else about why they are right then nothing gets accomplished and more anger, frustration and hate are produced. This post has been long and drawn out but the core message that I want to convey is this, don't let the ease of apathy take over your life. Care about others, read about what they go through, don't be another silent bystander and don't perpetuate ignorance and cruelty. When you see someone spewing hate or pushing propaganda that supports the division of us as the human race, stop them, talk to them, don't sit idly by while the hate continues to grow. It's certainly hard enough for me to try to keep my temper under control and logically talk to people with such radically different views, I still have to work on it each and every single day, but I'll never stop trying because when you stop trying, when you stop caring and just give up, that is when hate and evil win. You must always be the change that you want to see in the world, no matter how hopeless it seems. Love must, and love will, always find a way.
