the void in him had turned carnivorous. the hunger in him had surged at the behest of days spent behind steel walls until he had begun gnawing at his own heart, driven delirious with the dullness of mundanity. the violence here is like a balm, the blood a salve he bathes in. carnage turns cathartic, and it clings to the supreme leader's gloves, where he had ripped out the guard's spine and held it clutched in his grasp. the bones clatter to the ground when he strews the thing aside with barely a grimace. his heart had grown to crave more-than-usual in its recent abstinence, fueled further by its desires. in his other hand, he casually twirls the buzzing lightsaber about. catharsis, indeed, he thinks, after entertaining meetings after assemblies after demonstrations of organizational nature for the past few months. that the negotiations with the outer rim warlords had gone wrong was an inconvenience for the first order, but an entertaining one nonetheless.
in truth, he had barely registered hux's permission over his mind's own insistence that he did not require it. yet, he had waited still. this is politics, and in such statecraft, he knows to adhere to the chancellor's lead. stood at the archway of the fortress, he had waited until the word had been given and the authorisation passed quietly between them like a guillotine, a swift sentence.
his own uniform is stained carnelian — red wraps all around, in his body and mind, until it’s all that is left for hue, splattered across intricate, golden embellishments. a few steps are taken, almost swaying, over a body, or two, which hux's precise blaster bolts had neatly seen to. he sheathes the saber, quietude befalling over the terrain with its hungry buzz silenced. when he returns to the chancellor's side with heavy strides, he is mindful of where he tracks blood, sweeping his cloak aside 'lest it taints the pristine white fabrics.
@acharnemcnt says, teasingly: ❛ good boy. ❜
Tumblr media
the imperious remark stuns him into a moment of inaction, catching him quite off-guard. irritation rears its head, but a strand of warm satisfaction, too, wraps betwixt his ribs like a serpent, wringing poison, almost suffocating in its entirety. he cuts it in half before he can fully process its presence. his head cants to the side, brows furrowed. the flush that stains his features is roused merely by exertion, he is certain. a glove comes to wipe a smudge of — someone — off his cheek, dark gaze flickering, dashing away from the other man. instead, he looks onward to the aftermath, the graveyard he had constructed in minutes, ❝ i sensed the beginnings of their ploy hours ago. ❞ ren asserts, halfway between a genuine complaint at having been made to wait to counterattack, rather than being permitted to handle it prior, and an attempt at manoeuvring toward a distraction.
consequently, in statecraft, ren will heed; but when polity fails, he holds no qualms in exacting his own means of governance. ❝ have my knights escort you back to the ship, see if you can rewire the comms (...) i'll attend the remainder of the reception on my own. if it's half as welcoming as the deliberations, i shall enjoy myself thoroughly. ❞

Lazy Writing Moments in TROS Because I’m Just This Salty
No but seriously, I’ve seen this film twice now and I keep finding more lazy writing moments.  So here are the ones I’ve compiled for you all:
1. The scar on Rey’s arm.  They cover it and never talk about it in the film.  Bruh, It literally looked like two hands reaching out to one another and you’re not gonna talk about it/show it?
2. How the fuck did Rey fix Anakin’s lightsaber???  The bad boy was split in two and wasn’t the kyber crystal also broken?  How did she fix it JJ?  Hmmm?
3. The whole Palpatine storyline.  Look I was lowkey excited to see where they would take it and explain how he came back.  He’s been the big bad villain of this entire franchise from Anakin to Luke to Ben and Rey.  Then the only explanation is Poe saying, “Somehow Palpatine has returned.”  The fuck?  Y’all not going to explain that to us?  Maybe give us a flashback?
4. Rey going from a “nobody” to a Palpatine.  In TLJ Kylo tells Rey that he’s seen her parents and that they were nobody.  Then he tells her in TROS that Luke and Leia knew all along.  Ummmmmm all right, sure JJ.
5. Ben dying.  That’s it. That’s the point.  That whole death scene was poorly written and badly executed (except the acting, Adam and Daisy did wonderfully).  The editing was bad and things just seemed.... off.
6.  That end shot.  People have pointed out that they reused Rey footage and there are claims that the wrapping of the two lightsabers happened somewhere else.  Listen that wasn’t supposed to be the ending and you can pry that from my cold, dead hands.
7. Poe’s “spice runner” backstory.  He was supposed to have been one of the best pilots in the Republic along with his parents.  So why shoehorn in this backstory?  Find another way to introduce Zorii, maybe Poe ran into her on a mission of his and they were forced to work together.  Maybe Poe was sent to track down Zorii and other stuff went down instead.  Don’t have Poe join this “spice runner” group.
8.  Finn suddenly being Force sensitive.  I have no qualms about Finn being Force sensitive, but I feel like that was thrown in as more of an afterthought to move the plot along.  Nah fam, he wasn’t really shown as being force sensitive in the other films so why now?  Finn left the FO because it was the right thing to do and because he didn’t want to kill innocent people not because he had a “feeling”.
9.  Not giving Rose a storyline when she was important in TLJ and then blaming it on Carrie Fisher.  Fuck off.  That’s a bunch of BS and Carrie Fisher would be pissed that you’re using her like that.  I was so excited to see how her and Finn’s relationship had progressed and then we get that awkward hand on her shoulder bit.  I was also excited to see her and Rey interact and just her whole arc in general, but they did her so dirty and it angers me.
10.  That whole Hux was a spy storyline.  Now I’m not saying that it shouldn't have been in there but my issue is that they didn’t expand on it like at all.  They could have taken that in so many directions, but in like the next scene they shoot Hux and get rid of him.
11.  If you noticed in Rey’s new saber it looked like she had a green and blue kyber crystal.  Blue and green do not make yellow.  And when you create a lightsaber your essence bleeds into the kyber crystals.  So did Rey just have three kyber crystals in her saber?  Is it like one of those pens when you click a certain color that’s the ink you get?  So if Rey feels like it can she have her saber be green one day and blue or yellow the next?
12.  Why wasn’t Ben’s Force Ghost with Leia's and Luke’s when Rey saw them on Tatooine?  He played a significant part of her story and they shared a kiss at the end for gods’ sakes!  Where was he?
Yeah, so that’s all I got for right now.  Feel free to add more.
