we have moved on to persuasive speeches in comm class n bc we have so little time left in the semester they're gonna be partner debates, so i have grouped up with the guy in there with whom i started talking abt genshin a while back, n we're just like. "fuck it. let's just do the ethics of gacha games and whether they should be regulated like gambling in casinos"
#which is a very broad topic n i know we're not gonna touch on everything in the ten minutes we'll be allotted#so in my head i'm like running through the arguments you always see online#n it's fun to discuss too bc since we're both familiar w/gacha culture those aspects also feel like important things to discuss as well#bc like. on paper you can present gacha games as harmless bc you ''don't have'' to spend money on it if you have the self-restraint#and there Are kids who grew up playing these things who learned restraint along the way#n are able to engage w/these kinds of things with healthy boundaries n limits n stuff#n like kids Shouldn't be playing gacha games; many people say that the target audience of gacha games are kids but that's like.#that's literally not true. the target audience of gacha games are the whales who are all adults.#just bc they often attract the attention of kids as a side thing doesn't mean they're necessarily Made for them#but that doesn't negate the fact that hey! there ARE a lot of kids who can someday be harmed by this *as collateral*#and just bc they're not the target audience doesn't mean it's okay to just ignore them bc there are so many#(also the fact that gacha ecosystems revolve around balancing the needs of whales n f2p complicates this further)#(in order to keep the whales happy you have to keep your f2p around or else there's no one for the whales to flex on)#(so in a sense f2p are kind of like live bait to keep whales around)#(it doesn't matter who or what the f2p/low spenders are; as long as you have bottom feeders around to make up majority of players)#n since kids tend to have a lot of passion and spare time they often get pulled into games like gnshn which can unlock gambling addictions#since there's basically not a lot of oversight it's really easy for them to fall into bad patterns just bc of gacha culture n stuff#anyway since we have similar views we're both chill with taking either side of this debate presentation#i think we're both of the opinion that there is Something that has to be done but we're sympathetic to the people who disagree#simply bc we've both experienced this shit From The Inside#花話

"Hello? Earth to you sir?" you said waving your hand at the male in front of you as you put down the meal that he ordered and he just blankly stared at you with a sigh you set down his beverage as well before excusing yourself.
Okay but first of all, he knew how rude it is to stare at someone but like you were so pretty?? How do you expect him to NOT freeze? The blue haired male's cheeks then flushed realizing how he screwed up big time on first impressions with a heavy sigh he ate and would poke his meat every so often since he didn't seize the chance to talk to the pretty waitress of his favourite resto. Now the food was good, Fantastic even. But let's say that you were the main reason why he visited more frequently of course there were days when he couldn't since he's too preoccupied with chasing his dreams and nailing his comebacks. But every time he's done, he would always come back just so he could see your pretty, radiant face. When there were times that you weren't there. Specifically since you were either busy with studies or you caught a cold. He would always sulk by the cushions then would ask the other servers for your name, which they reply politely. Your name was Y/N. Y/N, he kept repeating that name to his head repeatedly
Y/N, Y/N, Y/N.
"Yes sir?" you quipped before rushing to him startled that he called you three times in a row, and the male was more startled since he realized he said your name too loud. Slightly panicking that you were here he looked around trying to figure something up until he saw the plated were empty "Ah! Yes h-here's the payment!" he said his cheeks flushing and you counted the cash and was surprised at the huge amount. Jesus, he's hella rich.
"Uhh, sir this is too much.." you said and he chuckled nervously before scratching his neck "Th-that's an extra tip. For you." he said stuttering before he couldn't take it anymore and bolted out the door
"Wait!" you yelled trying to catch up to him but he was too fast, you looked at the cash before putting it in your pocket. Your cheeks felt like burning when he talked. The guy looked so cute, too bad she didn't know his name.
But maybe next time she'll ask, he'll come back again probably.
Soobin
Tumblr media
He met you at the dressing room. You were the new makeup artist for TXT and today was your first day doing their makeup for their upcoming comeback, you noticed as you were preparing your makeup tools that a certain someone was just waving at you every so often, while the members were busy chatting on plans and strategies to further enhance their performance, soobin thought it was a great idea to just wave at you and smile cutely and there were times that you waved back and his smile grew wider. And by this point , the members can see his intentions.
"Yah Soobinie! Don't bother noona too much~" he teased and soobin was caught off guard and his cheeks flush which made the members tease him further for being such a simpleton.
"I don't really mind though. He's cute." you spoke and soobin was now lOvEStRuCk by your words like?? Those words should be illegal to hear at ALL. Beomgyu squealed in delight like a kid while Huening was just running around the room making noise. And soobin was laughing awkwardly, with that windshield wiper laugh that he got from jin, typical.
"Then. Is it okay if I asked you out right here and now?" he asked coyly and now it's your turn to be teased and to have your cheeks flush.
Oh damn, he really likes playing this game.
Beomgyu
Tumblr media
He met you by a dating app and today was your first date with Choi Beomgyu. Yes THE Choi Beomgyu from one of your favourite Kpop groups, Tomorrow by Together. You were so surprised when he revealed to you that he was an idol and formally introduced himself to you and not his username as "Pink Bamgyu", I know it sounds stupid. But among the three months that you met you've come to realize how devoted he is to music and you liked that about him, and you felt a spark form between you and him. And you're sure he felt it too since his responses turn more colorful and more expressive and more like who he really is. And how he talks about flying to many countries with you and then buying you as many flowers and jewelries and chocolates as he could just for you. Until he said that you both should meet up.
"Y/N?" a guy asked and you turned your head to see him, holding a bouquet of assorted flowers of different colors and you felt your cheeks flushing and you can see a fiant tint of pink form at his cheeks before he held your hand gently to your table.
And you knew this was the start of something new.
Taehyun
Tumblr media
He spied on you everytime your nose was buried in a new book and he admired how your eyes scan the pages and collect the stories of each character in your head. Even if he was a busy idol with many deadlines he still made time to visit his favourite bookstore every once a while and it just so happened that he met your pretty face by a corner and he couldn't help but observe you further like an organism reacting to a variable to show results for his research papers back in his younger years. he noted how your face brightens up when you read a good book and how your reddish lips thin out into a line when you read a bad one, and your distate in how the story flowed, he loved every bit. You bet that's he's so entranced by your looks. he also noted how your skin radiated when your face tilted to atleast a certain angle where the rays of sunlight shone to your cheeks. Until your beautiful and radiant eyes had caught him staring at you only then did you closed your book. "Is there something on my face?" you asked in a soft tone and he swore he felt his heart thump loudly, he gulped before clearing his throat to speak "N-no, in fact I was just uhh. Just checking here and then I saw y-you"
Okay well that sounded way dumber than how it should be.
He bit his lip in frustration before sighing "I see you like books. What's your name?" he asked and you replied with a soft chuckle and his heartbeat increased by this.
"I'm Y/N. And you?" you said advancing towards him and holding out your hand which he held and shook firmly
"Kang Taehyun. Nice to meet you Y/N."
Hueningkai
Tumblr media
He was your no. 1 wingman, your no. 1 partner in crime and most of all, your no. 1 best friend.
And he? He doesn't think of you that way, he always thought of you as his only muse, his only partner for life, his first and last love. You didn't knew how you hurted him so much when you regard him as only a friend but that is to be expected anyway.
But what hurts him most is you trying to find someone to love. But didn't bother to even spare him a glance, he thought it was better this way but damn he couldn't. He fell in love with you for well being you. Yet you belong to someone else, you belonged once to a random guy you bumped into the street, you belonged once to a guy who stared at you when you were a waitress before, you belonged to someone you met on an app, and you belonged to a bookworm that you met. Why? Why can't it be him for once? He was for sure handsome, funny, goofy, a bit smart, talented and passionate in chasing his dreams if becoming an idol. But why can't you love him? It broke him, it really did.
But what broke him even more was how many tears you shed for these persons you met. How they changed you, a free-spirited person to a quiet person that seemed almost out of its light. Every time you cried Kai was always there to hug you and comfort you with words like "You make me be a better me. You're so valid Y/N. You don't know how special you are to me and to anyone you meet." he keeps repeating the words for you to understand that a guy like him can love you. He brings you chocolates, bouquets of purple flowers since the color purple is very special to you. He would treat you out to your favourite restaurants and made sure you were well loved by him. While still maintaining his loud and goofy self. Until one day your light is back while his light was running out. He was so close to giving up on you and moving on, because he got tired of feeling this way and he knew it isn't healthy. But he couldn't leave your side, he's that pathetic. And he knows that. He should give up.
Until you hugged him so tight and your tears are overflowing. "Is it them again? What did they do? Did they bother you again?" he asked softly as he hugged you in his arms and you shook your head no and continued sobbing.
"Kai, I'm hurt because of someone else." you said and he felt his heart break again "I'm so blind to his feelings. I'm so blind to not spare him a glance at all. I'm so stupid for not knowing sooner. Kai, I'm sorry i love you too. I really do." you finally said and he swore his own tears fell from his cheeks and he caressed both your cheeks as he sobbed heavily at the realization that you fell for him. That at last, he achieved his own happy ending.
And he's so happy with you and loved and complete. He swears he's never gonna hurt you like what they did. This time will be different and like the man that he is he sealed all his promises with a soft and tender kiss on the lips.

Health and Sports Team Building- Prologue
Here it is, the fruits of my labor and my passion project I hinted at in my update post the other day. I’ve been always meaning to write an event around my Housamo OCs (btw I have fan OCs for this game) and after some planning and delving more into how they’d fit into the world that is Housamo I decided to write this kind of event. Yoyogi has my favorite cast of characters as you may know, and I feel they’re the perfect cast for events like this since they tend to shine well when it comes to friendship and such. I hope you guys will bear with me and this project of mine for about 5 parts or so.
~~~
“Have you peeked through a window before? It could be for any number of reasons- because something caught your eye, maybe you were looking for something specific or maybe just on a whim. What did you feel? … I see. While it depends on what you look at, I often find myself curious. I can’t really say I know why. But I just want to see what’s going on… what it’s like on that side of the window. Maybe I’m just nosy. Or maybe… uh, it’s nothing…”
~~~
It was quite the busy week at Yoyogi Academy now with summer closing it’s doors and autumn in full swing. Plenty of the student and faculty were quite excited for a certain day that was coming up and quite a longstanding tradition at the school. This day was really one of the handful of days Yoyogi students excelled at- the national Health and Sports day, so naturally the school was alight with excitement and everyone buzzing around to get their preparations in order. There was one student in particular who had been eagerly awaiting for a chance like this…
He had finished packing all his repaired work orders into his ever reliable duffel bag and put away all his supplies back into their proper closets and shelves. It was definitely a hefty workload to manage as of late, but somehow Tatsuya managed to clear it all before club practice ended for the day. You see, Tatsuya is a member of the Yoyogi Kendo Club. However it’s a club consisting of only two people, one of whom already had arrangements with Tennis club, so as of late he found little reason to attend practice. Even less with the fact they don’t attend competitions as nearly as often as they should given their low head count. His peers live and breathe off these competitive natures which he understood and totally supported, but he didn’t have that edge with Kendo. He had begun to question why he didn’t have any attachment to the sport recently which led him to smaller revelations…
As he was locking up the room a familiar voice called for him. “Tatsuya!” He turned to find Yui, his club mate, peer, and close friend, coming to him from down the hall rather excitedly. “Oh, you’re all done for the day?” Tatsuya nodded in response. “Perfect~. That means you can come out with us. Since we finished practice early, the seniors and a few of our classmates invited me out for some food, wanna tag along? You can be my plus one~.” She made sure to add extra emphasis on that last bit as though it was supposed to be incredibly enticing.
“I’ve got these orders to deliver.” Tatsuya answered with his usual calm manner.
“Well, duh. We’d go after you’d do all of that. We could even lend you a hand. If not, then I don’t think they’d mind the wait.”
“Nah, it’s alright. I wouldn’t wanna make them wait on me. You enjoy yourself though.”
“Oh…” Yui was disappointed in his response, but she did her best to not let it show beyond her initial reaction. “A-Alright then. Just um… text me when you’re done. I’ll bring you something on the way back, yeah?” Tatsuya gave her another nod and watched her off. There wasn’t any super serious reason or thought process why he turned her down. As of late they hadn’t been hanging out as frequently, in no small part to Tatsuya’s workload ever since classes started back up. Not only that, their peers have really started taking a liking to Yui and he wouldn’t want to drag her down or embarrass her. After all, he was the dorky kid brother in her eyes.
Tatsuya went about his deliveries practically routine at this point. Often giving the uniforms to the team captains or instructors around campus, and delivering individual orders personally. While his work couldn’t hope to compare to Ms. Arachne’s, he still helped students maintain their clothes for as long as possible. While he rather enjoyed spending hours working on these sort of things, the one part Tatsuya absolutely dreaded was the delivery part of the day. Not necessarily because he had to run around campus and praying his clientele hadn’t run off for the day, though still being a minor annoyance, he more dreaded what would happen if he did find them.
Wow, thanks! Another great job done by the Den mother!
You really are like a Den mother you know? It suits you!
I can see why the upperclassmen call you Den mother, thanks!
“Den Mother…” Tatsuya found himself murmuring it with a displeased tone. It seemed that stigma was starting to bleed into the underclassmen as well. He didn’t mind helping his peers or the heavy workload, but did they really have to call him that? What a frail title that was. How gentle and unintimidating that name was. He could’ve had a cool nickname like a superhero or something more run of the mill for his talents. But no, his peers had to start calling him Den Mother…
On his way around campus he noticed one of the underclassmen coming back onto campus seemingly out of breath. He recognized them as Kyuma Nakatsugi, a baseball player from the first year class. Out of concern Tatsuya rushed over to the first year rather quickly. “Ah, Noboru! D-Don’t scare me like that!”
“What are you doing, Nakatsugi? I thought baseball practice wasn’t on today.” Tatsuya asked, still keeping his usual demeanor.
“W-Well, I...” Kyuma struggled with coming up with an answer for his upperclassmen. In part due to how tired he was and not being the best liar when on the spot.
Tatsuya noticed him struggling and decided to cut to the point. “Never mind all that, you’re exhausted. Here, let me help you to the infirmary.”
“N-No, it’s fine really.” Kyuma panted out. “I just forgot my water and… didn’t realize the jog without it would be this intense.” Typical attitude of a first year. Totally ignoring the necessities when starting out new regiments. Taking pity on the first year, Tatsuya reached for his own water bottle and silently handed it to him. Kyuma’s eyes lit right up. “Oh wow, thanks!” He said before gulping it desperately. When Kyuma had sufficiently quenched his thirst he let out a big sigh and panted one final time. “Thank you, Noboru! You’re really kind. I’m starting to get why Gunzo refers to you as Den Mother.” There it was.
“No need to thank me. Just don’t forget your essentials when you go to train or whatever.” Tatsuya sighed. “You can keep the water bottle, I have a spare.” With that Tatsuya went on his way briskly. While it was subtle, Kyuma couldn’t help but notice a twinge of something in Tatsuya’s expression. Maybe it was because Tatsuya forced out a smile… Anyways, now that he had water, he didn’t want to keep David waiting…!
Tatsuya was able to shake off most of the frustration from the day. He had to stop by the infirmary today anyway, not because of a delivery, but a… requirement of sorts for the upcoming Health and Sports day. He entered the Nurse’s Office making sure no one really saw him enter on his lonesome. The school’s medical doctor, Mineaki Arima. He was rather busy as his desk with numerous papers flitted about. “Instructor Arima?” Tatsuya said as he wandered inside.
“Ah, Noboru. All done for the day I’m assuming?” Tatsuya nodded. “Good, good. Please have a seat.” Mineaki gestured to the chair right in front of his desk. As Tatsuya did so, Mineaki fished out for a particular file he had kept away in his desk. “This is the list of all your approved activities…” Judging by Mineaki’s tone it wasn’t something to be happy about.
Sure enough, the list was a lot smaller than what he was anticipating. “Seriously…? Only that much?” His heart sank at the list. Just a mere handful of activities.
“I’m sorry, but those are all the activities I was able to approve you for. Your health comes first, after all.” Mineaki explained. “Even then, I wouldn’t recommend you partake in all of them just because I’m worried about the strain you might put yourself under.” As he tried to soften the blow with concern, Tatsuya had fallen silent, eyes unable to tear away from the list. “Are you alright?”
“…Thank you for getting me this much.” Tatsuya said rather softly.
Mineaki took a moment to think before he spoke again. “To drop formalities for a second Tatsuya, I do understand where you’re coming from, but as your doctor I can’t put a risk to your health. Please just try to enjoy yourself during the day.”
Tatsuya paused for a moment trying to process what was being said. “I guess you’ve got a point. I’ll do my best.” While it may not have been the best chance in the world, it was still a chance.

Opinions on the current Holmes family members ( Siger Holmes, Violet Holmes, Sherlock Holmes and Eurus Holmes):
Sherlock can be a pain in the ass. He is very inconsiderate of other people’s feelings but we all know that he means well.
Eurus is a troubled child with a troubled mind. Her intelligence drover her to madness so she can’t be blamed for the things she does. However she is a dangerous person and should be kept locked away.
Siger Holmes is a precious and kind man who deserves to be loved by family and friends. I’m sure he was a great father. He seems to be very passive when it comes to communication between the family members though.
Violet Holmes is a strong woman that keeps everything and everyone together. She can be harsh when needed and, like every parent, often has high expectations in her children (especially in Mycroft). I do like her nevertheless.
Please bold the following below that applies toward your submission:

The Question portion:
Please note that you do not have to submit the pictures within your submission (save the puzzle)  but you must answer them honestly and do so without cheating.
1)
The rectangle is devided into 3 equal pieces. Three angles lead up to the same point. Since the distance of the angles A and B and C always stays the same and angle C is the one that’s the clostest to the point where all the lines meet up A+B equals C.
2)
July 16 4
3)
I think it would be smarter not to shoot at someone at all because he hits his shot only 1/3 of the time. If he misses the shot he still has spare ones. Plus I’m thinking that this is a trick questions since it’s saying „where should you shoot first“ and not „who should you shoot first“
4)
5+5+5+5 =/= 555
5)
This text indicates that the man needs some kind of help from other people to get to the 10th floor. That means that something hinders him from doing so when he’s alone. He either has a germ phobia and can’t touch the buttons by himself (in the morning he is able to convince himself to do it because “new day, new start” or he is simply too short to reach the buttons in the elevator and can only reach the first seven ones.
6)
I would set two switches. The possibility that both of them are OFF switches would allow me to determine which one is the ON one.
7) He brings her the ring himself.
8) Obviously 87
9) Nobody
10) He could build something from the wood to get on the other side of the fire where everything is already burnt down. That way the westwind would continue to blow and the fire would spread out but something that is burnt can’t be affected by fire another time so even if the wind would change Alexander would be safe.

18) Who was the FIRST great artist that contributed to the Italian Renaissance? Michelangelo

Mycroft’s answer:
Dear Olga, it would seem that you’re a rather bright child for your age aren't you? It shows in your answers and the way you carry yourself when you write that reminds me of a younger, if not more pleasant, Sherlock that wouldn't go around bringing muck into the house or worse, hide it under my duvet. I find it rather rare that you can compose and play your own music, I think Sherlock started it was a turbulent period as he wanted to go faster than his instructors intended which lead to many pay outs for damaged property and emotional damages. I also see that you have some sympathies for my little sister which is understandable. Eurus is an exceptionally bright young woman working faster than the rest of us and I'm sure its killing her everyday that she can't seem to find anyone for whom she wants to be an equal (as we all know she pretty much snubbed me in favor of Sherlock-someone she could easily mold at her will.) Although I recognize her dangerous nature I still love my siblings-both of them, even if they have tried to kill me on more than one occasion. I have no doubts that under my mentorship you can only flourish more so than Sherlock did at your age with less of my pocket book going toward covering up any of your misgivings. I only ask that you take a bit more pride in tiding up your living space because one cannot function at 100% in chaos. Yes, I do know this for a fact because I have seen my baby brother go on a rampage at Baker street because he could not locate an article that would prove his intelligence and then proceeded to shoot the wall up again in agitation. As for your state of dress as long as you keep it professional looking I have no qualms. We can proceed at your earliest convenience.

Creating his own choreography is something Minho has been doing since his pre-trainee days as a member of a dance crew, so he’s well versed in the area and has contributed to many of G-ZER0′s dances.
VARIETY: Since debut, Minho has made an effort to be able to help carry his group during variety shows. The concept assigned to him by his company has helped, with his often outrageous antics keeping viewers tuning in for more. His most often shown variety skills include impressions and his vast knowledge of other groups’ dances. Some have criticized him for allegedly trying to make up for his lack of lines by getting attention on television appearances, but for the most part, he’s been praised.
SONGWRITING: Minho didn’t try his hand at songwriting until he became a trainee and learned to play piano, but in recent years, most of his free time not spent dancing is spent working on writing his own songs. He writes his own raps, of course, but he’s also taken a liking to writing emotional, vocal-heavy tunes. Since he’s not the best singer, he knows he’ll never get the biggest part in any of those songs, but he’s proud that some of them have been included on G-ZER0′s albums and have gotten positive critical reception.
SINGING: Minho is far from tone deaf, but he knows his voice is nothing special and his singing will never captivate audiences like some of his other group members. He works on it a lot so that he won’t stand out as a weak link, but it’s clear he expresses himself better through dance and rap.
FANSERVICE: In the first few years after debut, Minho was criticized for doing too much fanservice, both with his members and fans. He’s a naturally touchy-feely and flirtatious person and that, combined with the pressure to do fanservice, seemed to make people more annoyed than happy. Netizens tore him apart for being too flirtatious with fans or supposedly making his fellow members uncomfortable. As a result, he toned it down, but nowadays, he gets berated for the change and told he doesn’t do fanservice enough, so he must not love his fans as much anymore. Minho has struggled to find the right balance and has yet to escape criticism.
PERFECTIONISM: While Minho’s perfectionism may seem like a strength at first, it manifests itself in a way that greatly relies on approval from other people. As a trainee, he worked himself to the point of muscle exhaustion more than once and his tendency to overwork himself hasn’t gotten any better as an idol. He’ll practice dances over and over again, even if he knows he knows it. He tries to avoid netizen comments, but if he sees someone complaining about the tiniest detail of his performance, he’ll obsess over it until he’s drilled any chance of mistake out of himself. His behavior tends to get more and more unhealthy, especially when he’s in high stress situations, until he gets the approval he’s looking for.
PERSONAL HISTORY
Yoo Minho’s conception had resulted in a shotgun wedding for his parents, but they never resented him for it. A young couple only a year or two out of high school, a baby hadn’t been in the plans, but it only sped up the inevitable. They were happy to spend the rest of their lives together, even if they had to start the rest of their lives early. Raising a child as broke college students wasn’t easy, but they managed to work out a schedule so that could keep an eye on him and still graduate in time. The circumstances kept Minho from spending all that much time with his parents as a toddler and he never got the hottest new toys, but he grew into the type of child who appreciated what he did have.
By the time he entered school, his parents had graduated and found jobs. while they were on the lower side of middle class, Minho was too young and naive to feel the burn of low finances. His dad worked long hours at the office, but his mom worked from home so she could watch him. Consequently, he found a much closer bond with his mom than he ever would with his dad. School was relatively easy for him, as he was a natural class clown and his teachers tended to forgive him for it since he was fairly intelligent. His mom spent enough time with him to see his blossoming musicality and restless feet and had managed to scrape together enough spare change to put him in a dance class when he when he was eight.
What started out as a way to get Minho to work off his excess energy quickly turned into a love affair with the art. It was more a class to get kids active than to train real dancers, and his instructors saw he was beyond his classmates in only a few months time. They recommended a real, reputable dance studio in their town of Busan to enroll him in, and seeing the passion in her son’s eyes, Minho’s mom did just that. Dancing was Minho’s favorite activity for a long time, but as he entered his teens, it became more than that; it became his lifeline.
Minho couldn’t imagine his life without dance and he was skipping cram school to take lessons in more styles and spend extra time in the studio. He was a good student and he liked school, but the only thing he could see himself doing for the rest of his life was dance, whatever path that took him down. He watched as his mom took up a second job that required her to be out of town most weeks just so they could continue to live in relative comfort. Minho took up a job of his own at a dry cleaner’s, squeezing in dance classes around his schedule. On the rare occasion he’d come home at night to anyone else being there, it’d be his dad, lecturing him on how he needed to find something that would actually make him money in the future. “Your mother and I are exhausting ourselves for you to waste your time dancing around with other delinquents,” he’d say. Minho struggled to reconcile a way to keep dancing without burdening his parents.
The day his mom and dad told him they couldn’t afford his dancing anymore became a defining day in Minho’s life. The lack of support he’d gotten from his dad was something he’d grown used to, but he saw the pain in his mom’s face. She’d always supported him, but her health had taken a turn for the worse due to working so much. There was no way he could argue with them and watch as his mom wore away because of him. On top of that, his parents told him they were having another child soon after. With the cost of another kid on their hands, any hope Minho had of their finances looking up vanished.
He spent the next year of his life focusing on his studies and working, attending cram school when he could. As cliche as it was, it felt like there was a hole in his chest where dancing had once been.
He was diligently resigned to respecting his situation when he and a friend attended a competition between dance crews they’d heard about. It’d taken quite a bit of convincing to get Minho to come along, since he didn’t want to watch others dance when he couldn’t, but years later, he’d be thankful for that day. A conversation with one of the crew’s dancers afterwards ended up with him auditioning for the crew a few days later. He got in and finally had a way to dance again, paying only in his time and energy, two things he was short on but swore he could sacrifice. As a member of the dance crew, he expanded himself as a dancer. Where he’d once been scholastically learning the same choreography over and over again, now he learned to b-boy and freestyle and paid his dues by helping to choreograph the group’s dances. He was once again faced with the dilemma of being in love with dance but knowing a future in it was unlikely. If he graduated high school, his dad would force him to go to college for medicine or business and he’d have to give up on his dream.
It was the fall of 2011 when he convinced his mom to take him to Seoul so he could audition for entertainment companies. If he was a trainee, he knew his dad would have to accept his career path. His mom, ever supportive of her son, did just that. They found a weekend when multiple companies were holding auditions and Minho auditioned for every one he could. He got more constructive criticism than sleep that weekend, but when he returned home, he hoped it would be worth it. A week after his auditions, he had gotten two contract offers: one from Mirage Media and one from a smaller company. Minho happily accepted Mirage’s offer, with his mom agreeing to sign the contract to permit him to become a trainee.
Telling his dad was not nearly as easy a task as making the decision was. The icy cold silence Minho was met with when he announced he’d decided to train to become an idol was the first indicator of what their relationship would devolve into. His dad didn’t directly say he was disappointed in Minho, but the unspoken words were clear. Minho was heartbroken by his dad’s reaction, but unable to change his mind simply because his dad didn’t support him. In the period of time before he officially moved to Seoul to begin training, it felt like his dad made a point to talk to him only when absolutely necessary.
Minho’s life as a trainee at Mirage was a whirlwind. The dance training was rigorous, but its very presence was a gift to Minho. Vocal lessons were a different story. Singing clearly wasn’t his strength and it was discouraging, but after everything he’d been through, he wasn’t going to give up. Rapping lessons were an unexpected area he did well in. His only experience before had been joking rap battles with friends, but he found he was surprisingly good at lyric writing and he developed a flow of his own over several months.
Being placed in G-ZER0 was the chance Minho had been waiting for. He’d only been training for a year and a half when they debuted and he was one of the last ones officially declared as a member, but he took their career personally and did the most to show the best side of himself. He enjoyed the music they were making, he got to dance every day for living, and he had six confidants in the form of his group mates; it felt like a dream. Being an idol wasn’t easy and he was far from immune to the netizen hate comments he got for his personality or his subpar vocal skills or his lack of experience rapping but going from a boy in Busan who just wanted to dance to a member of one of the top boy groups humbled him.
Minho still rarely hears from his dad and he’s looked out in the crowd at G-ZER0′s concerts more times than he can count, hoping maybe his mom managed to drag him along this time. Each time he gets let down. Still, Minho sends money back home whenever he can in hopes it’ll help out the family he almost never gets to see.
