a common experience many autistic people experience is struggling to put your own feelings for the people around you into the strictly defined categories between "platonic" and "romantic," to try to frame your own unique affections in the context of the words used by the people around you. especially when you're younger - when you're already used to the world around you seeming to speak in terms foreign to you, when the concept of love rears its ugly head in adolescence, one that could be found confusing to anyone... it can be nigh impossible to wrap your head around it, to try to quantize the feelings you know are burning brightly in your heart.
in episode 3, it's clear that sakiko is someone that tomori highly admired and appreciated - not just for her kindness, but how things always seemed to click into place with her around. sakiko helped tomori realize that her own words had value - and what are tomori's words if not her feelings put into writing? and if her feelings have worth, then what of the way she thinks of sakiko?
i feel many have (rightfully) subscribed to the autistic reading of tomori's character, but I still remember when the lead writer of the series, unico-san, wrote something to the effect of "if you're a fan of girls' love media, please watch mygo."
with that, I think there's much to be gained from reexamining the way tomori looks at sakiko from a queer lens, as well (to say nothing of the large overlap between neurodivergence and not conforming to societal expectations of gender and sexuality). crychic was a brand-new experience for tomori, with sakiko serving as the catalyst for tomori's joining of the band. unico-san even writes in her relationship chart, even well after crychic had disbanded and mygo had formed, that to tomori, sakiko is still someone tomori cherishes dearly and considers of great importance. I don't think it's too much a stretch to postulate that tomori's feelings for sakiko overlap what some may describe as "love." the difference between platonic love and romantic may be negligible - the matter of the fact is that tomori's life was greatly influenced by meeting sakiko, and for that, tomori feels very strongly about her... in some way. so strong, in fact, that she wished she could remain with her for the rest of her life. but, alas... it wasn't to be.
broken, afraid, tomori asks anon when she expresses interest in a band if she'd be willing to do it for the rest of their lives. it feels blunt and forward, but it's easy to see why tomori at that point would ask that: she's been in a band once with someone she cherished, and that person left. is she willing to feel that way about someone again?
"I don't think I can ever forget about CRYCHIC."
mygo ep 13 hands the baton over to ave mujica with tomori attempting to bridge the gap between sakiko and the newly-established mygo by offering soyo's words to her in writing, but sakiko doesn't entertain it - merely wishing her well and leaving, as if to wipe her hands clean of the whole affair that was CRYCHIC. yet, tomori, as much as she goes barreling forward with mygo, doesn't feel the same - the way she feels about sakiko is as strong as ever.
whether reciprocal or not, tomori's affection for sakiko is something that irrevocably shapes the rest of the narrative and the way tomori feels about everyone else in her life. it's something that can't go disregarded when it comes to examining the countless other dynamics in the show - from the protective and bashful taki speaking of tomori, to anon's newfound appreciation of tomori, to even raana's playful amusement with the girl. and, before long, we'll get to see more of how that shapes sakiko, too.
it's hard growing up as an autistic teenager, and it's hard growing up as a queer girl. what happens when you're both?

re:taki im really curious about tomori's view of taki... they live near each other and go home from practice together but tomori walks away from taki several times, especially when taki is trying (but failing) to make tomori feel better. does tomori see taki's big shows of defending her as just that, big shows? because it doesnt seem like tomori takes any of her words to heart. does she remember when taki got up in arms when saki left? did tomori notice that taki only latched on to her after their first live, and remembers her ability to be cruel even to tomori herself? but taki also had other moments of guiding tomori, like at karaoke? maybe she's just not reaching tomori in a way that really helps??
we know taki has a complex about her sister but id love to see more of how it bleeds into her and tomori's dynamic :^3 her struggles as mygo composer are already <33

what soyo did to mutsumi was really fucked up, i feel so bad for her. i can totally see where the roots of ave mujica are forming now. in a way i can kinda understand soyo. she desperately wants things to go back to normal and she wants her friends back and she is willing to do anything to have them back but that includes hurting things even more. it is very selfish but she completely believes it is for the good of all of them. her obsession with talking to saki makes sense now. also yes she 100% was using anon to get to the rest of crychic but im going to be real, i forgive her. like she is so so fucked up but i think she will get better. i don’t really think things will ever get completely resolved with mygo and avemuji, i think their bands will be opposed to each other for at least the entirety of their first band story and probably second when they’re in the game. also i think it’s mygo is probably going to act as the story 0 for mygo and avemuji like with popipa so im really really interested to see how their band stories are handled in game. i am so excited but also quite frightened. also saki has a doll motif….. microwaves her.

It's MyGO!!!!! spoilers appear in this post! Keep reading if you are ok with viewing them!
During the first three episodes of It's MyGO!!!!! Some of the already-stated Garupa characters appear or are mentioned. Specifically, here's a list of all the characters that appear and how they appear at most:
Tumblr media
During the first episode, when Anon's classmates are explaining to her about the different kinds of bands at Haneoka, Afterglow is mentioned as a band. This is the only mention they have aside from one in episode 3.
Tumblr media
Ako and Rokka are also mentioned as being apart of Roselia and RAS respectively. Roselia has more references while this is the only time RAS is mentioned. Pastel*Palettes is also mentioned to have all graduated
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Later in episode 1, various Roselia posters are shown in the Astronomy Club.
Tumblr media
Anon and Tomori in the club room also make an inexplicit mention to the former president of the club, Hina, and say that she must be a fan of the band. They also read her notes from the club ("La La La" is supposed to be "Boppin'!" I am not sure why it was changed from last I watched it. It must be that the site im using switched to the Crunchyroll localization which changes a few other things after a few days)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Later on, when we meet Taki at RiNG, we also get to hear Kasumi speak in the background.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Roselia song "Sprechchor" plays while Anon and Tomori go to the Karaoke place (you will just have to trust me on this one i dont want to record that part)
During episode 2, Saya makes an appearance at the shop Soyo and Anon go to, alongside Raana. (which I'm pretty sure should just be Yamabuki Bakery).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
During Episode 3, Morfonica makes an appearance in the background during the scene where Tomori is walking. Mashiro and Toko also have conversation in the background (Nanami or Tsukushi could also be talking but I don't exactly hear it well) (also you can see Nanami's legs in the image provided but thats all)
Tumblr media
Later on while CRYCHIC (band between 3 mygo and allegedly 2 ave mujica members) goes into the Karaoke place, some Pastel*Palettes songs play, notably "Shuwarin☆Dreaming" and "Luminous Once More", the latter also having its Band Story 2 mv in the background.
Tumblr media
Morfonica also is referenced by the group, looking for their songs on Karaoke, but saying that they haven't officially debuted yet
Tumblr media
Lastly, CRYCHIC also visit Hazawa Cafe, where Tsugumi is shown. Interestingly Tsugumi's model's artstyle is the same used from pre-6th anniversary, likely due to it being a flashback scene like all of the 3rd episode (while this could be for Monica too, the scene is unfortunately too blurry for us to know specifically).
Tumblr media
The rest of Poppin'Party (Arisa, Tae, Rimi) and all of Hello, Happy World have not been referenced in the anime so far, likely due to us not having an episode where Hanisakigawa is seen or referenced, where 6/8 of the unmentioned characters go to currently (and the other ones being graduated students). They will likely be referenced or appear soon, maybe in a Taki-centric episode.

WAIT. Is the alleged significance of Mutsumi sending cucumbers to MyGo that she's welcoming back the dead and/or congratulating them for no longer being lost and finding their way back????? Did Soyo read way too much into this and got angry cause she thought it was incredibly insulting or just doesn't want to admit something about her current self and her relationship to the band?

for the meme! from RD Chapter 3-13, there was too much to copy/paste, but i'm sure you know the moment...
Micaiah: “All right… I’ll do it… I’ll do it for you, and for Daein.” Pelleas: “Thank you, Micaiah.” (Pelleas hands Micaiah a dagger)
wow radiant dawn spoilers!!!!!
rune & co click away now : )
SOME PEOPLE LIKE TO THINK ABOUT CH 13 AND SUFFER. Luckily for yall I am some people. In order to talk about this line and Micaiah's response I think we need to look at Pelleas' reasoning
13-2 pre battle dialogue
"Individual lives taken before your eyes weigh more heavily than the many lives taken during the chaos of war. If that life is someone dear, the burden is even worse. It's only human. Isn't that true? Micaiah. It’s your caring soul I admire. That's why I want it to be you. I want you to kill me.”
Of note, in the Japanese version, Pelleas specifically says human nature is at its core self-serving, that care for another’s life is based on one’s ego/connections. He continues:
[ペレアス] ミカヤ…… 僕は、そな君が好きだよ。 だから…君に頼みたい。▼ Rough translation: Micaiah…. That’s the part of you that I love. That is why I want it to be you I ask this of.
(the scene continues on as it does in the localized version)
To put this in further context prior to chapter 12 and the revelation of the blood pact (i.e. Micaiah finding out that no matter what Micaiah does the Senate’s control of the King and his Kingdom means loss of all life in Daein) Micaiah had been pushing herself both mentally and physically to be a general who minimized death and unneeded damage.
Sothe: Micaiah, it's over. The front line is broken. The apostle's army is crossing the bridge. Micaiah: All right, then... Order a retreat. Inspector npc: Wh-what?! No! Are you a simpleton? Just destroy the bridge! [...] Micaiah: Inspector. While I respect your opinion... The final decision is up to me, as commander in chief of this army. Sothe, order the retreat. Get those men out of there before they're routed. -Ch 11, post battle dialogue
Then, in chapter 12 she discovers no matter what she does if she and Pelleas do not follow the Senate’s orders precisely, their entire nation, Micaiah’s reason for fighting all this time, will perish. Micaiah is nothing if not determined.
The apostle’s army, previously, toward whom she showed mercy she now prepares a rockslide/rain of fire death trap for:
Micaiah: All forces, get in position! Our target is the apostle. We will attack her while General Ike is distracted. If we let her through, her army will cross into Begnion. That will surely anger the senate, and the senate will move to destroy Daein. We must fight with everything we have so that Daein may live on! Sothe: But, Micaiah... Is this really necessary? Can't we avoid all of this fighting and somehow pretend to obey the senate? Taouroneo: Micaiah, it was you more than anyone else who used to hate plans like this... Micaiah: The apostle's army has incredible numbers. We wouldn't stand a chance taking them head-on.
The only thing that stops Micaiah from killing Sanaki and her Holy Guard outright is Tibarn taking Sothe hostage and Micaiah freezing up at the prospect of losing the person she cares for most in the world, despite it meaning her entire army would be routed.
Sanaki pleads on Sothe's behalf and Tibarn/Ike's army leaves but Micaiah is shaken. And then when back in the castle Pelleas immedaitely calls for her, asks her to kill him, and upon her refusing citing her recent revelation re: Sothe and Tibarn has the gall to say:
"Even if it hadn't been Sothe in front of you, you would have reacted the same way. That's the kind of person you are."
I think she's fucking PISSED!!!
There's much to be said about Micaiah and her lack of agency in the narrative throughout both part three and four but Pelleas is saying this to her, right before his own request can be nothing but maddening.
From the start, Micaiah has felt kinship with Pelleas and believed in his kindness. In their private moments together Micaiah drops the 王 and refers to Pelleas with just -sama, he may not be part of the Dawn Brigade but he is firmly someone she thinks of as a comrade and perhaps more.
And he's now using that gentle/kind nature that she once so admired to shove Micaiah into a corner. To kill him with her own hands. GRANTED, the game does give you a chance on playthrough one for Micaiah to refuse and Pelleas accept that. BUT STILL!!
Of note, too, Micaiah is tearing up and stammering throughout this exchange in Japanese. I think Micaiah is used to handling grief, I do not think she is used to handling this kind of anger. This is further supported by the fact IF Micaiah accepts Pelleas' request every single line of hers in Japanese is "...". She refuses any further conversation with him, even when he directly asks her to pass on a piece of jewelry to Almedha.
Her last words to him are: わかり…ました…… あなたの……ために…… ………わたしが………▼ "I... understand. If it's for you.... I... I will...."
(there's no mention of Daein here which, while I think is in the back of her mind. does indeed make the scene all the more charged and intimate)
N has thankfully (?) asked me for the rest of the (optional and ng+_ dialogue here so ending for now. But yeah, I think rather than saddened (which she is. The scene in fist playthrough ends with Micaiah breaking her silence to sob openly ala localized) Micaiah is also quite furious in this scene. And it's something I have a lot of fun thinking about. :upside down:
