Random Video Game Themed Question Prompts - Part 2

Part 2 of this little video game prompt thing! I thought this one would be easier because it's actually all Pokemon themed! But they asked a lot of questions I just don't know cause I haven't played all the games lol. But regardless, this was very fun! And I'm having a bit of Poke Mania after beating Platinum!

Part 1

1 - Favorite Pokemon

My favorite Pokemon for ages now is Charizard. I know it's a basic pick but think about for a bit and it makes total sense. Dragon. Fire. Salamander theme. Green elements. It's kind of tailor made for me. Not to mention Firered was my first game, and Charmander my first Pokemon! Also, I love him in Smash Bros. ALSO YEAH I LIKE POPULAR THINGS OKAY THAT'S WHY THEY'RE POPULAR-

2 - Favorite Game

Personally I am still really biased to Pokemon Firered. It's my first, so I have a lot of really good memories with it. I love the GBA, I love the sprites and music. And it's just a deeply important game to me. Though I do think SoulSilver is better in pretty much every way, I just have too much love for Firered. But if we're not counting spinoffs currently Emerald is my favorite!

3 - Favorite Spinoff

This one is easy, it's Pokemon Snap. Both games are seriously some of my favorite video games of all time. And it's the closest we'll ever get to a Pokemon Shmup/On-Rails Shooter. I also just love taking pictures in video games and I love seeing Pokemon in their natural environments, so it's pretty much tailor made for me. A close runner up would be Pokken but the only reason it's not number 1 is cause 3D Fighting Games are harder than 2D ones lol.

4 - Favorite Legendary

It's Mewtwo, let's not beat around the bush on this one, it's Mewtwo. He's one of my favorite characters ever, one of my favorite Smash Bros. characters, the star of one of my favorite movies, he's bad ass. I just really love Mewtwo. But some of my other favorites are Lugia, Groudon/Kyogre/Rayquaza, and Kyreum!

5 - Favorite Mega

I'm sorry all these answers are so predictable It's the Mega Charizards. With a preference for X, but they both RULE. I actually love a LOT of Mega Evolutions though. Some of my other favorites are Gengar, Aerodactyle, Gardevoir, Mawille, Aagron, Banette, Garchomp, Abomasnow, Steelix, Lopunny, and Audino!

As for Gigantimax... Eeeeeh I think these are kinda stupid looking for the most part, apologies. Alcremie kinda clears though in my opinion. Coalossal, Appletun, Durraludon, the Kanto starters are ok though.

6 - Favorite Regional Variant

Honestly, really looking at it. I'm not sure which is my definitive favorite but DAMN Galarian Linoone is just PERFECT. It's better than actual Linoone imo and I think I like it more than Obstagoon too honestly. I also like Alolan Golem, Galarian Corsola, Alolan Muk, Hisuian Zoroark and Hisuin Goodra. This is still one of the best concepts introduced into Pokemon, btw.

7 - Favorite Starter

It's Charmander. Sorry guys it's just the coolest and evolves into my favorite starter. But since that's such a predictable answer at this point I'll do you one better and list my favorite Starter from each region (I pick my favorites based on their final forms lol): Charmander, Totodile, Mudkip, Turtwig, Snivy?, Fennekin, Popplio, Grookey, Sprigatito.

Also I think Kanto, Jhoto, and Kalos have the strongest set of final stage starter Pokemon! Meganium, Typhlosion, and Feraligatr in particular are 3 of my all time favorites.

8 - Favorite Region

In terms of Pokedex? It's between Kanto, Jhoto, Unova, and maybe Kalos? In terms of games? Kanto, Jhoto, Hoenn? In terms of where I'd want to live? While I haven't played them all it's between Kanto and Hoenn I think.

9 - Favorite Pseudo Legendary

NOW THIS IS A TOUGH ONE! Lately the Pseudo Legendaries have genuinely become some of my favorite Pokemon from each region. Of course, right? They're all dragons lol. Goodra is probably the winner because I love slime and dragons. But some REALLY close runner ups are Tyranitar, Garchomp, and Dragapult.

While some are certainly stronger in terms of design and concept than others, I like them all though. The only one I'm eh on is Baxcalibur and even then I see the idea and I think some small design tweaks would really fix it for me.

Also random side note, but if they removed all the Pokemon currently in Smash and had to replace all of them with new ones. While I'd cry over Charizard and Mewtwo leaving... Just replace them all with all the Pseudo Legendaries. In fact, the Pseudo Legendary from each region would be a shoe in for each smash game if I was in charge!

10 - Favorite Mythrical

Darkrai. Next question.

Okay but seriously, I ADORE Darkrai. For a lot of similar reasons to Mewtwo. Bad ass design, cool concept, and their movie is one of my favorites. You guys know I love edgy badboys with hearts of gold and tragic backstories. Darkrai's movie is seriously one of my favorites and one of the only ones I've rewatched.

For runner ups? I didn't realize Genesect is Mythical? I LOVE Genesect. Also had a great movie. Also Meloetta is hot dude

11 - Favorite Rival

I've only played the first 4 games but personally I think I have to give it up to Blue. I think he's a lot cooler and more interesting than people remember. I feel like he gets remembered as a mean guy, but actually I feel like he's playfully a rival with you. Because he actually helps you a LOT during the game. But then as the game goes you progressively see him get more and more obsessed with power. And then finding out he's already the champion and having to tear him down is REALLY cool. I think it's one of the best parts of RBY.

Personally I haven't been super thrilled with the friendly rivals but I did think Wally was a neat idea where he starts out as a sick kid but genuinely gets pretty good. But it is messed up that you have to tear him down too lol. Just looking at the designs I like Bianca, N, Hubert, Shauna (though I remember her being annoying), Gladion, Marnie, and dude Klara is so fucking hot dude

12 - Favorite Professor

From the games I've played, Oak has kind of been the most interesting one no contest. But I do LOVE the designs of Juniper, Sonia, and Sada cause they're so hot dude

Although I kind of get the vibe that Kukui is gonna be my favorite by the time I get there.

13 - Favorite Elite 4 / Gym Leader / Champion

TOUGH QUESTION! I don't want this spoiled so I'm gonna only look at the ones I've beaten. Starting with Elite 4: It's probably Lance. He's really cool. Though Karen is absolutely up there. And I also like Lorelei, Phoebe, Drake, and Bertha. Also seeing Koga get upgraded between 2 games was cool.

Gym Leader: It's probably between Claire and Flannery? Dragon types obviously but also slightly older mean girls/tomboys. You know how it is. Erika is cute, Janine being Koga's daughter is cool, Giovanni was a cool concept, Whitney, Jasmine, Morty maybe, Roxanne, Norman is a great concept, Gardenia, Crasher Wake, Candice. Volkner has a cool design.

Champion: Again, probably Blue. I think it's the best built up for sure. And while seeing Lance get upgraded was cool, it's just Lance no offense. Steven could've been an ALL TIMER but Emerald kinda dropped the ball with that sadly. So, if not Blue. It's Cynthia. I'm sorry for being so thirsty on this post but she's SO hot and so cool and has such good taste in Pokemon.

14 - Favorite Villain Team

I think Team Rocket is neat but they're a little basic. But they're done pretty good in the first game and I think it's cool that they're a little more grounded than the rest. And Galactic is pretty crazy but I feel like the whole team isn't that cool as much as they're like, insane.

I probably have to go between Magma and Aqua. And while Aqua are pirates so objectively they're cooler. I think Magma's grunt designs are my personal favorite grunts so far. I genuinely want their evil hoodies with horns on them. And they love Groudon whose the coolest of the trio from Hoenn.

15 - Favorite Character

It's between Mewtwo and Darkrai. Again, they're both deeply important characters to me and both star in some of my favorite movies. But ultimately I do have to give it up to Mewtwo for being an edgy badboy made in a lab, his movie is also just really really good and I love him in Smash Bros and the Birth of Mewtwo and he's just so cool. I love Mewtwo. Darkrai runner-up

16 - Favorite Route/Town/City

I hate to say it but I don't really remember a lot of them off the top of my head. ATM I'm obsessed with Route 209's night theme from Platinum though lol. Going soley off of memory I would probably want to live in a place a little busy but not TOO crazy crowded. Maybe I'd like something like a beach town in Hoenn? Sunnyshore in Sinnoh was also a neat idea.

17 - Favorite Soundtrack

Ooof, tough question. I am certainly the most nostalgic for Firered personally. But I think from my playthroughs so far, a lot of Platinum songs really stuck out and stuck with me. 209, vs Galactic, the Celestic town guitar strumming theme lol. I also feel like I'm gonna REALLY like Black/White's ost cause from what little I played a lot of those songs stuck out to me. But yeah, I might have to give it up to FireRed personally. With my favorite song from it being Vs Champion Rival.

18 - Least Favorite Pokemon

SO... I hate to be a hater. But lately there have been some serious stinkers. However, I have 3 main "least favorite Pokemon". Number 1! Intelleon. Stupid design. Stupid motif. Never seen fanart that made it into a hot girl. How does it go from emo to 007? Huh? Wha? Stupid.

NUMBER 2! Calyrex. Stupid design. Looks stupid on the horses. Looks stupid off the horses. Drags down the cool horse designs. It's the best you could do for a KING pokemon? Seriously? I hate it.

NUMBER 3!! The worst of the worst: Quaquaval. No joke the only Pokemon to dethrone Intelleon to me. I HATE this Pokemon. I get the theme. I see the vision. But it's SO stupid looking. Again I don't want to be a hater, I know people like it. But it's design STINKS dude. I just hate it. Idk.

19 - Favorite Battle

My favorite battle COULD'VE been when you team up with Rayquaza to fight Groudon and Kyogre. But sadly that's only in my fanfic.

There's some really good ones. I love teaming up with Steven to fight the Magma admins. I liked fighting Giratina a lot, I thought that was cool and a nice surprise. I liked having Wally come back suddenly and be super strong at the end of victory road. But ultimately, again, I think I have to give it up to the RB Champion Blue fight. I know I keep saying it but it's so good and so well built up in my opinion. And unlike the friendly rivals, while I think Blue is friendlier than people believe. Watching him become more power hungry makes it feel good and like you have to cut him down when he starts getting out of line. Idk.

As for the Anime? I really like when Mewtwo fights Genesect and only beats him by giving him the overview effect lol. There's a lot of really good ones in the anime if I sat down and thought about it though.

20 - Favorite Type

It's Dragon Type, hands down. Dragons are cool, I love a lot of dragon types, and I LOVE the idea that ANYTHING can be a dragon, even a tree. It matches my love and philosophy of dragons a lot.

Outside of the obvious dragon pick. I like a lot of Fire types, Electric is one of my favorite powers but I'm not super married to a lot of Electric types, I'm always shocked by how many Water types I'm OBSESSED with considering I'm not crazy about Water powers. Ground, Poison, Dark, Bug, there's a lot of good types lol.

21 - Favorite Move

This is really tough. I love a lot of the big HM moves that make my runs super easy. Fly, Surf, Waterfall, ect ect. I love stuff like the elemental punches conceptually. I also like a lot of the dragon moves like Dragon Claw / Draco Meteor conceptually. But I think my all timer is Blast Burn! Again... Charizard lol. I had it on my Charizard in FireRed as a kid.

22 - Favorite Ability

I'm gonna be real with you... I don't know about any of those dang "abilities". But I do always like ones that up the type of the Pokemon. And I'm sure there's some really unique ones if I ever felt like reading through them all. Maybe I'll come back and update this one later. For now, let's go with Dragon's Maw cause it's a dragon theme.

23 - Favorite Item

The only items I really focus on are the held items. I really like, similar to abilities, ones that make certain type moves stronger. I use those a LOT during my playthroughs. I also pretty consistently get Quick Claw and make use of that, I think conceptually that and Dragon Claw are cool. I think King's rock conceptually is cool. As for Pokeballs I thin Ultraball looks cool, Net Ball, Heavy Ball, Dusk Ball... I never use them but they look cool lol. For battle items... uuuuuuh... Max Revive... idk.

24 - Favorite Z-Move / Max Move

I haven't gotten to Sun/Moon yet so idk what these even look like. I watched them all before but fuck me if I can remember them lmao. Just from skimming through: Splintered Stormshards, Pulverizing Pancake, Genesis Supernova, Bloom Doom (reminds me of The End FF8), Savage Spinout, Neverending Nightmare, Devastating Drake, Corkscrew Crash, Black Hole Eclipse, Tectonic Rage are all cool...

I actually think Tectonic Rage might be the best cause I was NOT expecting that shit lmao. Maybe that and Black Hole Eclipse!

25 - Favorite Shiny

Another good question! Off the top of my head I'd probably have to give it up to Charizard, cause edgy black Charizard is just SOOOO bad ass, but I can take a look through the Shiny Dex real quick and pick some other favorites: Nidoking, Golbat, Venomoth, Muk, Kingler, Weezing, Dragonite, Mewtwo, Mew, Yanma, Umbreon, Shuckle, Heracross, Tyranitar, Sceptile, Swampert, Gardevoir, Altaria, Relicanth, Metagross, Rayquaza, Lopunny, Bronzong, Garchomp, Giratina, Gigalith, Crustle, Haxorus, Druddigon, Braviary, Mega Gengar, Tyrantrum, Salazzle, Pyukumuku, Naganandel, Hisuian Sneasel, Hisuian Zoroark, Appletun, Veluza, Sandy Shocks, Iron Thorns, Hydrapple

That's a lot and I still think I missed some lol. But some of these I'd never seen before and actually gasped when I realized how good their shinies are. Like Haxorus, Salazzle, and Appletun whose shiny I now PREFER over the regular one lol

Pokemon: Shiny vs. Default, 007-009

Following on from yesterday’s look at the Charmander line, it’s time to round off the Kanto starters with my personal favourite of the set, Blastoise. And uh, those other two that evolve into Blastoise.

First up, Squirtle!

Okay, here we see the first of the many dreaded Green Shinies (I’m not counting Bulbasaur and co. because they’re Grass types and already partially green). True, the pale blue skin and violet eyes are good, with the green limited to just the shell... but this is a Pokemon game, you’re going to be looking at the shell the entire time you’re using the guy. That said, it’s a nicer green than most others, a fairly pleasant bright green rather than the mucus-y colour a lot of other Green Shinies were. And it looks like a Koopa shell! But still, yeah, default wins.

Now for Wartortle.

Wartortle adds another very common shiny colour in purple, and... I kinda hate it? Like, I don’t hate all these colours, but in conjunction, they do not make a particularly pleasing colour scheme. Default wins.

And now... it’s Cannon Turtle Time!

I love this guy so much. Unfortunately, I’m not wild about the shiny. Same issue as Wartortle, unfortunately. I like all the colours but not the combination. Default wins.

Mega time!

I like Mega Blastoise even more, amazing design. However, there’s no dramatic colour change like Xzard and no perfection like Yzard, it’s just the same colours as the previous form’s shiny, and it doesn’t look any better here than it does on the regular form. Default wins again.

Now for the last entry today, the Gigantamax.

No snarky Mega joke this time, because honestly this is the first G-Max we’ve covered that actually takes advantage of the whole “Kaiju size” thing, man’s a whole-ass ironclad. The shiny works better this time, the red filter makes the green more of a brown, and the purple looks good, but the default still looks better, making this one a total one-sided stomp for the defaults this time.

Playing Pokémon again on the emulator I have so;;; Now I’m thinking about Bronwen’s hometown in the different regions bhjvfbhjsdfhjbvbjhjhbbjhfdvfbhjvdfbhjdf

Here’s my ideas!!!;

Pearl/Diamond/Platinum [Sinnoh]: Floaroma Town. Yes, the place with all the flowers. She also spent a lot of time in the north, though, and is used to the cold. In terms of starters, it varies depending on which game! In Pearl, she has a piplup [Blueberry], in Platinum it’s a turtwig [Olive], and in Diamond it’s a chimchar [Cherry]. If one wants to know which one is “canon” for, it’s technically Pearl, but they’re all their own timelines.

Heartgold/Soulsilver [Johto]: Ecruteak City. The place with the Ghost type gym! Bronwen’s starter is always a cyndaquil named Tyler. He’s her baby. She very quickly gets a gastly though, who she names Ellie.

Black/White [Unova]: Undella Town, the same place where Cynthia lives. Bronwen’s starter is a Snivy, who she names Elvis. Although, since she’s coming from a higher-level area, her brother also gives her a deerling [winter form] who Bronwen names Snowflake. This is so Bronwen can get back to the lower gyms relatively safely on her own. Snowflake has an abnormally high speed stat.

X/Y [Kalos]: Snowbelle City. Well... only technically. Bronwen lives on the outskirts, away from much of the hustle and bustle, but still within city limits. Her starter is a Fennekin who she names Delphi. She also very quickly gets a Sylveon, though, who tends to sit on her head and is named Candy.

Sun/Moon [Alola]: Bronwen’s actually from Sinnoh in this one, specifically Floaroma town again, but she lives on Akala Island alone not far from Tapu Lele’s cave. This is because Tapu Lele really likes her and basically dragged the girl to a spot where she could fix up an old house, which she did. Bronwen just doesn’t ask anymore. Bronwen’s starter is a Litten named Aeronwen.

Let’s Go Eevee [Kanto]: Lavender Town. Yes, the ever infamous Lavender Town. Bronwen loves it there, and bonds very strongly with the ghost types. Her starter is a charmander, named Dexter. She also gets a gastly who just kinda.... started following her around and never stopped, then plopped herself in a pokéball. Her name is Gigi.

Sword/Shield [Galar]: Born in Spikemuth, and spent a few years of her life there before her family moved to Ballonlea due to her mother’s work. Bronwen’s starter is a scorbunny named Katsuki [named for a character she saw in a show] who is her dearest friend. She is extremely close with Leon and Piers, who she spent much time with as a child despite them living in different places for a long time.

{PSNL} Welcome to the Family.

An image of Vene welcoming Fuecoco among the family of other starters I've had playing other Pokemon games in the past. Pikachu for Yellow. Charizard for Blue. Cyndaquil for Silver. (With a dead save battery, hence why no Typh :< ) Serperior for Black. Decidueye for Moon. And now Fuecoco for Violet. This game started out with me collecting the cards and getting up for Saturday morning cartoons, watching the original Kanto region Pokemon series on WB Kids. My mom bought me one of the original Pokemon handbooks from Sam's Club, which I read cover to cover numerous times. My first Pokemon game was Pokemon Yellow, way too late into the scene. It was when Pokemon Diamond and Pearl were in the middle of their lives. Pikachu became my first starter and I was obsessed with making him happy. The next game I had was Blue, which I chose Charmander as my starter because I loved dragons. I dont remember much of my time with this Charmander, other than I knew it was a female one, and that I had just evolved to Charizard before I stopped playing the game. Later on, when I bought the original Ambassador Bundle Day 1 release of the Nintendo 3DS, I got Pokemon Black, and Snivy spoke to me WAY more than Tepig and Oshawott. Say what you want about Gen 5 being weak. Snivy is, to this day, my FAVORITE starter. I got about half way through this game before adulting took over and I had to focus on my real life. When I moved out of Texas, I asked for an ex's copy of Silver to bring with me, which I tried to play, but the battery for save files was dead, so I got part way through it before the GBA died, so I sadly did not get to evolve Cyndaquil. And then... With the sunsetting of the 3DS, I bought Pokemon Moon and went for Rowlett. Moon ended up being the first Pokemon game I actually defeated the Elite 4 and ran the credits for. And finally, I purchased Pokemon Violet yesterday. I've seen so many clips of the game, from the funny bugs caused by memory leaks to the hilarious takes on older Pokemon, such as Toedscool. I finally just said fuck it and bought Violet. I immediately chose Fuecoco over Sprigattito and Quaxley. The silly happy no-thoughts-only-love face had won me over before I'd even bought the game. I've kind of gotten in touch with why the kid in me loved Pokemon and would obsess over it over this game. So therefore, this image happened. I wanted to express my love for Pokemon, and share all the starters I've had, and that Fuecoco is an absolutely wonderful addition to that family. I'll start w the mons and man Palkia deserves so much better owo

I'd say an overrated Creation trio member is Giratina, I like him, but Jesus Christ if I go up against another Giratina VMax user on ptcgl I'll go fucking crazy it will be my villain origin story I shit you all the fuck not that shit is fucking crazy like for the first three games I played there I was up against Giratina VMax users PLEASE I AM TIRED I JUST WANNA FUCKING WIN

I'll use the origin Palkia V deck next out of spite

Another underrated Mon I like is the Kubfu line, mainly RS Urshifu bc man why are there so many art of SS but not much for RS he's so much better bcnxnd

Idk if it's underrated but I like Victiny, its shiny is dope af imo hahah

Hoopa too, not the shiny but the Mon hahaha then there's Diancie she be dope too hahah

Tapu Lele is also pretty cool, Groudon is dope af, and even Ho-oh, and man Entei please he's one of my boiis one of the first legendaries I really liked back then idk even tho I played Crystal I liked Entei more than Suicune hahaha

Idk if they're also under or overrated but I really prefer the Galarian bird trio than the Kanto one

Going to the starters now, I actually really like the Chespin line hahah it sucks how many people hate on it, saying how they don't like how Quilladin looks or how Chesnaught doesn't look like it's pre evos, but idc I love this line they have a special place in my heart uwu

Another underrated one is Popplio, this line also deserved better man omf owo

Then there's the Tepig line my beloved please Emboar got me through Unova along w Reuniclus these two are the backbone of my Unova team

Overrated starters,, ehh idk, Squirtle and Charmander line?? Hahah and ofc the Hoenn trio the best trio nothing can ever top them fr fr no cap

For pseudo legends,, well there's the Goomy line (both Kalosian and Hisuian variants) hahah I will forever be salty how this K.Goodra isn't half Poison it would make so much more sense if it's a Poison type man omfs cjdmnd then ah,, Kommo-o, that line too hahah I think it's pretty dope, bc I have one on my team too hahah

Overrated Pseudos, probs Tyra hahah and Metagross and Garchomp, I'll put in Salamence too, he's cool hahah

Just mons in general, Diglet line, this line also got me through Kanto the real MVP of my team along w Jolteon hahah then ofc the Solosis line it won't be a real Unova playthrough for me if this isn't my actual ace hahaha and ghmm,,, most of the eeveelutions are overrated really, but ehh idk I'm just gon say the dopest ones are Sylveon, Jolteon, and Espeon

Ehh idk that's the only ones I can remember from the top of my head so hey hahah I'm sure there's probs more but like yeah hahaha

Now for the trainers ouo

I'm just gon go and say the Unova and Kalos peeps, they really deserve better man bcmxnd especially Diantha PLEASE THE DISRESPECT THEY GAVE HER WHEN GOING UP AGAINST LEON IS FUCKING INSANE I HATE THAT EPISODE SO MUCH that episode triggers me fr my friend played that while we were on call and I ended up rambling to him bcmxndnd

The subway masters,, idk,,, their popularity really spiked after PLA, but hey I still think they're cool, I just don't like how when I look at BW stuff it's almost always them I see

Volo is also pretty dope ofc I had a brainrot of him back then he's still dope af even tho I don't reblog much stuff abt him nowadays hahaha

And,, yeah, I think that's it, well that's all I could remember hahaha sorry for rambling tho cbnxnd hahah

So........I may have gotten a figure to go with my Battle Card........

He came with a friend!

#Pokemon #Finally printed my first draft and I'm quite happy with it #I did misalign it like I thought I would >:P More than I thought which is less than encouraging #But I'll give it another go and see if I can't figure it out #At least I got the orientation correct!#But anyway the Actual star of the show - I went out looking for sticker paper for the learned moves #I attached Leech Seed with just tape which works but I'd like something a little fancier because it's fun #And instead of finding literally anything affordable I instead stumbled across the Clip n' Go and Battle Figures series and like #My excitement was immense I had a fantastic time #One of the series offers an Umbreon and Espeon!! I want those so much!!!#They weren't available at the location I was at so I couldn't get them :( But these two were!!#All three of the Kanto starters were in fact and each came prepackaged with a little buddy #Which btw - vertical storytelling and game design as a marketing tactic ahoy because guess which Pokemon were included #There's the obvious here - Bulbasaur and Eevee (which is one of smol's favourites so I also got it for her <3)#And then there was also Charmander and Togepi - and if I remember right both of those non-starters are Gift Pokemon to teach mechanics #They were special for their gimmick - Eevee's with branching evolutions and Togepi's for breeding (I'm pretty sure)#And they come bundled with starters since they're Gift Pokemon! I love that!!#Squirtle had Snubbull which I can't make heads or tails of but the other two! Those make sense to me #Hhhhh if I had the funds I'd absolutely buy the other two starters so I could use them as little game pieces for the campaign #Maybe if we continue and/or I find a little more disposable income - I'd love to get the second evolutions too since those are available #And I still don't know who's going to pick what! Ah #It's exciting tho I'm excited #This campaign needs a name yet hmm I'll have to think of one #Pokemon Homestyle #There it is <3 #WPPkmn #WPVG

The Importance Of: Charizard

HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BOY!!!! Y’know that line from Jurassic park? “Hold on to your butts.”? yeah your gonna need that. because THIS is a big one. So big I practically have to give each Charizard it’s own section to tell each of there stories, with there own sections. Right let’s begin.

story one: Blair: Section 1: Beginnings burning bright

It all started years after my first X & Y playthrough. I no longer had the free torchic you get from the game, or at least you got it back when the game came out, so I knew I needed some new fire support for my eventual Greninja. So I decided to try out a Kanto starter I was indifferent on. Charmander. RNGesus must have blessed me that day because the Charmander I got was both FEMALE, something already rare among starters, and SHINY. I took it as a sign of some sort, and began to train the Charmander naming her Blair after one of the MANY official names of the BW1 male trainer, and also as a hint to what it would eventually evolve into, A Charizard who’d blaze through the air. Well turned out my girl had the perfect nature for a Charizard cause she was hitting like a beast at level five. She had great defense and even greater speed making her go first nearly every time and dish out major damage at the same time. It was weird I never had a particular bond with any particular Kanto starter. Sure I had a small love of Bulbasaur thanks to the anime, and weirdly smash bros, but that was it. A small bound. Even after I used it for the first time during my first runthrough of Y. But this? This felt different. It was like a actual bond was being made between us. After SEVERAL hours of training, including taking on some trainers. Blair was ready to evolve.

Section 2: the growing flame

Blair eveolved into Charmeleon after facing down a large number of team flare grunts, oddly fitting wouldn’t you say?, and already I could tell she was the strongest of my two starters. Taking down enemies faster then Team flare could do there stupid pose. Only one pokemon out sped her as a charmeleon and that was the admin’s pokemon, don’t ask me which one team flare has way too many admins, but Thanks to Blair’s ungodly level of defense she took the hits as if it were a light breeze. Eventually knocking out the admin’s pokemon. We did a fist bump in my mind, and moved on as I trained up my team. At this point I was feeling confident in Blair, but I wanted to make her stronger. Then I remembered super training. Looking up Blair’s nature I found she was Timid, explaining the ungodly speed but not the god tier defense. I learned Timid lowered physical attack so I focused on buffing that, special attack, and special defense up, turning Blair into a beast among beast when it came to fighting. This would come into play MUCH later down the line but it made for a familiar yet great battle latter on. Of course we came across our rivals, destroyed them, and went on our marry way until evetually the final evolution came.

Section 3: The blazing one

FINALLY Blair had reached her greatest form! Or...so I thought. A black Charizard with red wings underneath and a white belly and under side of the tail. In my mind I always imagined Blair to be a giant even among other Charizards, and her tail flame. Yeah that baby was burning brighter then ever before. No way was it going out anytime soon. We went on our way getting as strong as we could and by Arceus did we! Of course gaining a new team member in the form of Ryu the Lucario and FINALLY getting access to MEGA EVOLUTION!!! For personal reason’s I’ve always imagined Blair’s mega item to be a tail ring that looks like Rayquaza, or those dragon statues in the BW dragon gym wrapped around Blair’s tail with her mega stone being ether in the mouth of said rayquaza/ dragon statue ring, or the head of this rayquaza/dragon statue ring. Meanwhile me being me my keystone would be on a long glove, elbow length maybe, with the same dragon on Blair’s tail ring wrapping with the head stopping dead center in the middle of my hand, the back of it to be exact, with the glove having Blair’s colors: The palm section has her white under side’s color, like most of Blair’s body the glove is black, and the dragon wrapping around the glove is the same red as Blair’s wings. Of course I have a matching glove just without the keystone. As to why? 1: HATE the mega rig/ bracelet! It looks so....BASIC!!!!, 2: I wanted what i use to make Blair go “FURTHER BEYOND!!!” if you would also represent our bound as trainer and mon. Hence the long glove(s), which are fingerless because cool factor, in the same colors as Blair, almost like Blair is protecting me if that makes sense, any way once again use my imagination instead of sticking to the game because F it more lore pls, Blair’s first time Mega Evolving didn’t happen in battle, it happened to save my life. Basically as we tried to chase down some team flare goons one of them get’s a idea and creates a rock slide to try and block me off..only it almost killed me as a giant bolder came tumbling down. However it was stopped as I heard a roar, and did not feel the crushing weight of a bolder, instead, in the form of mega Charizard Y, covering me with her wings after she’d smashed the bolder...was Blair. She gave a might roar as she spread her wings out. Needless to say Blair, who’d basically become the team’s mom in a way, was pissed the hell off. Much chaos and battle ensued. Back to the game now we went on our way as we went to finish the journey I started with Greninja, and would end with a Charizard unlike any other. If there was one gym leader we struggled against it was Wulfric. With BARELY one HP left Blair, Abomasnow went down. We did it. The last badge was ours. Now the real challenge. The elite four....or it would’ve been if Lysander didn’t want to destroy the world. Yeah. that plot. Needless to say I wore my best cloths and once again from my imagination I imagine the cloths matching Blair’s colors, white under shirt tank top, black short sleeve button up that flows very well in the wind, black pants with a red trim, red slip on’s with black at the bottom, red and black buttons on the button up, the inside of said button up is white, and a red black and white satchel. I figured hey if were trying to take on a man trying to save the worlds beauty why not do it in style? Now back to the game we of course beat everyone who stand in our way...until we get to the legendary. Yuveltal was....Arceus was it rough. But we did beat and capture it...which made Lysander....less then happy. Needless to say we fought. Oddly he didn’t open with Gyrados on this play through, but we eventually got to that point. Blair vs. Lysander’s Gyrados. I instantly went Mega, and using Dragon rush we took him down...that was it...team flare was done...Now...One to the Elite Four.

Section 4: The champion’s burning victory

With Lysander down, all that was left was completing the dex and the elites. In my imagination: I stared down at Blair’s pokeball, smirked, and said “Let’s bring the heat Blair.” In game: The Elites went down...with one hell of a fight. It took several attempts till FINALLY I got a lucky run and defeated them. Now, after some SERIOUS healing, thank god for max restores, we went straight for Dianpha. In my imagination: I walked to her, Blair out as her tail flame burned bright. “So you made it.” She said sounding unsurprised. I simply nodded. “Ready?” I asked her, extending my arm out like it was the battle chateau from the anime, Dianpha responded by doing the same. Ready.” she said as we backed away from each other with a leap. In game: I swept most of her team with no problem. Until Gardevoir. Gardevoir swept through most of my team leaving me with one option left. Blair. My infamous Charizard that had set the Kalos region ablaze, standing down against her Gardevoir which oddly hadn’t mega evolved yet. This Gardevoir stood in our way....and thus like all the others...she’d be burned. I went straight for mega Y, Dianpha did the same as we clashed. Two legends fighting with everything that they had. In my imagination: As Dianpha ordered her Gardevoir to attack, Blair dodged it. In game: luckily for us the timer for mega evolution ran out for her. In my imagination: As mega evolution was fading for us with one last attack, one last Dragon rush...we won....we had become champion’s. I fell to my knees, while Blair straight up collapsed as she de-mega evolved. I fell on me back as Blair rolled over. “Hey Blair?” I said sounding more tired then ever. Blair gave a tired roar. I lifted my fist up. “We did it....Yaaaaay......” I said very tired. Blair returned the favor by fist bumping me despite being just as tired as I was. She gave a tired snort as where fired would be a plume of smoke just blasted out. Dianpha laughed a bit. “Perhaps you should rest before we hand out your award.” dianpha said. “Please....” I begged in a tired tone. Blair felt the same as she gave a tired groan. After a long LONG rest, and a good meal. We fully realized we had just become the new champions. We got our award, Battled AZ which nearly took it out of us again, and for awhile simply rested. Until we realized the dex wasn’t finish.

section 5: The final battle of The blazing one (Note though I actually did do this as the final battle this whole section will be taking place in my imagination. Why? because cool battle scenes are better then me saying “We fought, we wiped them, the end.”)

It had been a while since me a Blair had been in a fight. So to warm us up, without mega evolution since we hadn’t used it in a long time, we fought Serena her Mega Absol put up a good fight but Blair simply dodge it’s attacks like they were nothing. With a good Flare Blitz the Absol went down. Serena sighed. “Despite not battling for a long time you still got that fire Jay.” She said crossing her arms. I just nodded. “Trust me. I’m just as surprised as you. Seems like old habit’s die hard.” i said as I stroked Blair’s head. “I noticed you didn’t use mega evolution...is something up?” Serena asked as I kinda flinched at the question. “Well...we haven’t used it in months, and with the league being Reorganized due to me beating Dianpha, I haven’t really needed to use it since I’ve been focused on completing the dex.” I said then took a breath. “As well...We haven’t used it in...over a year....I....I don’t want to risk Blair going nuts like she did the first time we used Mega evolution.” I added as Serena nodded. “Makes sense I suppose. So how close are you to finishing the dex?” Three pokemon away.” I said honestly. “I just need to get female meowstic, Sylveon, and one other.....” I said as i looked grimly at the dex. “Which one..?” Serena asked. “A pokemon called...mewtwo. According to the professor one has wander over from another region to here.....I plan to catch it...” I with determination. Serena looked shocked. “MEWTWO!? ARE YOU NUTS!?” She shouted. “I’ve heard stories about that pokemon, how it nearly killed a trainer in Kanto....why would you-” “Because I have to.” I said cutting her off. Adjusting my cap. “I’m not some trainer anymore Serena. I’m...” I look at Blair. “WE’RE the champions....it’s our duty to keep the region safe. Even if that means risking my life..” I said as Blair nodded. Serena sighed once more. “Your.....” She face palmed for a bit then smiled. “Your something special alright.” she said as she sat down. “Good luck, and don’t get yourself killed.” She said honestly. I nodded. In game: after catching and evolving some of the final pokemon needed, I was off to fight, and catch, mewtwo. With a boat load of ultra balls, and a master ball ready just in case. There it was waiting. In my imagination: In no time Mewtwo wiped out most of my team. The only one left...was Blair. I stared at her Pokeball. “One last fight....ready girl?” I said as i wound back my arm “BLAIR!!!” I shouted “BRING THE HEAT!!!” I yelled as I chucked her now old and faded pokeball. With a burst of flame and a roar Blair readied herself for one last fight. “Right. I doubt it has much health left but in case...DRAGON CLAW!!!” I ordered as the giant female Charizard charged at it with giant claws made of purple energy. The Mewtwo took the hit, but not without revealing it’s secret. The Mewtwo mega evolved, pushing both me and Blair back into the water. It was over....there was no way we could fight it...but Blair didn’t give up.

With a glow in the giant’s eyes, a glow that said not to give up, as we sank beneath the water my expression changed, my keystone glew bright, and for the first time in ages, in a grand display of power by bursting from the water, Blair Mega evolved glaring at the Mewtwo, upon Blair’s Back I glared as well. “BLAIR!!!” I yelled as i jumped down. “ONCE MORE DRAGON CLAW!!!” I ordered as Blair ripped into the legend. I smilled look back at where we came from. The mewtwo fought back hard but it could keep it’s mega form due to a loss of strength. “FLARE BLITZ!!!!!!!!!!!” I ordered as the attack hit Weakening the mewtwo enough. I threw a ultra. One, two, gotcha. I looked to Blair, who caught me as the fight had caused me, and her alike some damage. “We-We did it....” I said with a smile. Blair grunted with a smile as she turned back into her normal form. (End of story one)

how come fire types dont burn everything all the time, like how people can ride ponytas? is it not actually fire or do they just like. turn it off?

Ah, this is an interesting one!

Now, admittedly I’m not an expert on Fire type Pokemon. But this is a question that gets brought up quite a bit! It’s the focus of a fair amount of debate because the short answer of it is- we don’t entirely know!

There’s a few theories floating around that are the “generally accepted” ones. The most popular one at present is that Fire type Pokemon, we’ll use Ponyta as an example, can control the heat of their flames and make it so that they don’t burn. This doesn’t really... work, with the logistics of how fire itself works, but Pokemon are strange and powerful creatures that we can’t fully explain! The other big theory is that they aren’t real flames, and they just look the part. This one I have a hard time with, because I’ve worked with Fire types in the past and they definitely can burn with those! Trust me when I say you don’t want to get on the wrong side of a Cyndaquil, haha.

Personally, I fall under the belief that it’s a matter of temperature control, even if that means it doesn’t line up with how fire actually works. The fact of the matter is that Pokemon don’t always operate on terms understood by some sciences, and since the fiery mane of a Ponyta isn’t a naturally occurring fire, it isn’t too much of a reach to say that it operates under different rules. This would go for any Pokemon with fire as part of its body; it doesn’t occur like a fire in nature, and is therefore different and operates differently. It’s definitely an interesting topic to think about, but not one I’ve personally spent a lot of time researching, unfortunately.

A Fire type certainly can cause a lot of destruction if it wants to, but I’m a firm believer in that there’s a choice involved and the Pokemon has to choose whether to cause harm or not. Young Fire types can get a bad reputation for accidentally burning things, but I think it’s because they haven’t yet learned to control their temperatures, which can fluctuate wildly with mood. Charmander is a popular starter Pokemon in Kanto and I hear a lot of stories of trainers getting their first scar from their Charmander accidentally burning them when excited! I’m sure Leon’s got one or two burn scars from his Charizard, haha. But once they get themselves in check, and a loving, patient trainer certainly helps with that, burn-related incidents are few and far between. We haven’t had an incident with a Fire type at the lab in... at least the last few that came through here, so at least a few months or so.

Anyways, this was my long way of saying we’re not too sure, but there are theories! Sorry if this wasn’t helpful, but I hope this at least helped you come up with some ideas of your own!

So!

I'm coming straight outta left field with this one, but hey, some of the best things in life come from spontaneity!

Er... Maybe.

Anyway, here's my Pokèmon AU!

Featuring the Female Protagonists I played as, their names, general differences from canon, and personal headcannons I came up with during my first playthrough of each game!

...and how they fit into the wider world! Maybe. Kinda.

I'm only doing the main series females in this post, with potential a potential sequal in the form of the side game females!

I do know that the main series male's will have their own post though! Mostly because I legitimately cannot control myself, and it's already halfway done!

So, without a further ado...

Arden Forrest!

Childhood friend of Red Audra, and the maternal cousin of the one and only Blue Oak.

Chose Charmander as her starter, named the little guy Flare, and is extremely defensive of the nickname. She is/was ten! Sorry if her creativity wasn't up to par!

Ended up having to travel with Red because her mother absolutely refused to let her leave Pallet otherwise.

Simply stick with him out of convenience after Viridian Forest, mostly because at that point there really wasn't anything to gain in separating from him.

In this continuity she's the older sister of the Sun and Moon protagonists. More on that in Jericho's section.

At the end of her journey, her team consisted of Flare the Charizard, Lenz the Jolteon, King the Slowking, Knott the Vileplume, Skye the Pidgeot, and Blue the Raichu.

Raichu is a stuck up little shit, and pampered, the nickname was obvious. To her at least. Oddly enough, Blue the Raichu hates Blue the human.

The only reason Giovanni remembers her is because she straight up decked him across the jaw when he threatened to kill one of her Pokèmon.

Somehow ended up acquiring Silver as a travel companion for three weeks, Red was bemused. He was also incredibly confused when that feral eight year old showed back up three years later in the news.

Ended up hanging up her battling career shortly after she lost the championship to Lance, and handed over Flare to Red to battle on a more permanent basis.

She still trained the rest of her team, and still does, she just realized that despite her talent in the profession it just... Wasn't her calling. She wasn't as quite as in love with it as she was at the start of her journey.

Bounces around the world for a bit during the three or so years between the Blue/Red and the HeartGold/SoulSilver storylines, and after Lance wins the championship back from her. Trying to find herself.

She participates in the Galar league around the same time as Leon, Raihan, Sonia, and Nessa, mostly as a curiosity, and maybe as a way to try and reconnect with her battling roots, but jumps ship after Opal because fucking hell is their League a killer for self-confidence.

Her jersey number, for the record, was 069. She deeply regrets keeping the uniform years later.

She also finishes the Unova circuit, but doesn't challenge the Elite Four or the Champion, and she tries to do something in the Ferrum Region for a bit before packing up and returning home.

Perpetually pissed off that no one can remember her fucking name.

And no, it isn't about the Championship thing, she was fine with that, really, it's just that the moment she introduces herself ahead of Blue or Red people tend to either treat her like a commodity, or like she doesn't exist.

Made it through the Elite Four and beat Blue before Red.

So yes, she is the official record holder for the shortest Championship. Which, if you're wondering, is exactly thirteen hours, seven minutes, and thirty-three seconds.

She and Blue played Go-Fish for two hours while Red finished up with Bruno.

The ensuing eleven hour battle with Red both traumatized and bored Blue in equal measures.

Blue had the title for a week. Red bolted to Unova shortly after winning and declined the position, turning it back over to her. She proceeded to hold it for another six months before a match with Lance turned it back over.

Actually ends up as one of Professor Oak's lab assistants once she ends back up in Pallet, and... Eventually finds her calling in research.

She throws herself into her education with everything she has. And... Never really loses that passion and drive.

Has to be physically dragged to Passio during the Master's tournament/festival. Dragged. And no, that's not an exaggeration, Blue physically throws her over his shoulder, books their shared flight, and well, he basically kidnaps her.

If it makes you feel any better, he pretty much did the same thing with Red, only it was a private flight that was prearranged.

It makes her feel better, anyway.

She spends the entire tournament/festival in borrowed clothes.

She takes solace in mock-poker matches with Red, Grimsely, Lina, and, oddly enough, Cynthia and Steven Stone.

She does eventually end up becoming a professor in her own right, with a focus on Abilities and how they affect a Pokèmon's mental and physical growth, and also ends up with an engineering degree as well.

In her late thirties I see her taking over Professor Hasting's job for the Ranger association. Mostly because, in my head-cannon at least, Regional Professor status isn't all that it's cracked up to be, and at that point in her life the only reason she would even take over for Oak in any capacity is out of sentimental value for the Pallet Labs.

That, and it's a cushy job, plus she gets to see small children scramble around for over jumped flying tops. So really, it's a win-win.

Teases Jericho relentlessly over her relationship with Gladion.

Not that her romantic life is much better. Someone idly points out that Red is romantically pursuing her when they're nineteen and she proceeds to have a minor breakdown.

Or, you know, she just remains forever oblivious, and Red remains extremely passive in his pining.

Completely blind-sided by Blue's wedding, and honestly doesn't know what to think of his wife, but plays the role of doting aunt pretty well once they have their first kid.

Shows up in the White 2 storyline in a rental tournament, wrecks Rei's shit, comes back a day later during a Team Switch Tournament, and proceeds to destroy the battlefield.

Then, once Rei is the Unovian Champion, she comes for an actual vacation, and actively, and willingly, participates in the Cross-Region Tournament, makes it to the finals, wrecks Rei's shit again, and then destroys the Stadium when she goes up against Red in the semi-finals... Yeah, I'm not sure what storyline to put to the whole rage vent thing, but it's there. It exists. And Red pays for it.

I'm thinking Blue just gets in over his head a week or so before the tournament, and she quietly simmers all the while.

I think if I were to make a fic about her journey/life, I'd call it 'The Trials And Tribulations Of A Run Of The Mill Pokèmon Trainer'. Because... Ya know, against Blue and Red, she's actually a pretty average trainer.

Compared to Red, who'll have participated in over thirty league circuits in his lifetime, (and plowed straight through the champion in a pretty good chunk of them), Arden has only actively participated in maybe five, mantled a single Championship, and completed two other circuits, with the last three or so having her jump ship due to pressure, having to put it aside for prior commitments, or a simple lack of interest, (the incredibly vague Greece based region I have an idea for is incredibly interesting history wise, in universe, it's Gym and tournament circuit on the other hand... Lacks pretty much anything to make it even remotely interesting).

Red will be a living legend once all is said and done at the end of his career. While Arden has a single legal achievement to her name, the famed recognition of being one of three people to take down the Pokèmon equivalent to the Mafia, and a pretty average badge count for a career trainer.

Also, Lina loses to Red on Mount Silver. She knows, she was drafted as the referee because when she came to drop of Red's food for the week. She's pretty much payed off to say otherwise though.

And she doesn't know why.

She's convinced it's a conspiracy.

Fades into relative obscurity around the time of the Sun & Moon storyline, but her damn if her tiny fan club isn't dedicated.

Doesn't show up in Alola for the battle tree because Blue couldn't find her for three solid months.

No one knows what the fuck she was doing.

...she may or may not have been the Gates To Infinity protagonist.

There's a tiny aside to a Snivy named Leaf in article concerning Overgrow and how it affects the Snivy population at large though.

And that's Arden Forrest, a bit clunky, but hey, they're randomly ordered facts, not a character sheet. Next up is the Crystal heroine!

Marie Smith!

Traveled through Johto about three or so years before Arden, Red, and Blue began running around Kanto.

Older than her sister, Lina, by seven years.

I actually don't have all that much on her because I got to the third Gym on Crystal before my brother destroyed the Device I was using to play the game on.

What I do know, from this information, though, is that she disappeared around said time.

No build up, no cries for help, nothing. Just up and gone. She just cut contact with her family, things happened, and she's absolutely infamous for nearly killing three thousand people. Somehow, she's officially recognized as someone who completed the Johto Circuit though.

She got recruited by Cypher.

Again. Shit happened.

Oak blames himself for an incident in the Kiro Region, (Egyptian Region), pertaining to her.

Lina's entire journey is an event and a half because of her.

If I were to make these little things into a fic series, she'd get... Like a seven chapter mini-fic told from seven different people's perspectives throughout her journey.

Those people, in order, would be... Her mother, Whitney, Naoko of the Kimono Girls, Giovanni, Clair, and Oak.

With an extra chapter detailing her death during the Kalos invasion.

She shows back up in the Kalos storyline in this and traumatizes the ever loving fuck out of Serafina.

She chose a Chikorita. Who she loves dearly, even when she's pretty much gone off the deep end, and then some.

Lina Smith, local trouble maker, owner of a perpetually terrified Feraligator, and the best friend of the very weird Ethan Aurum, and the only person who seems to be on Silver's good side. Vaguely.

Oh so vaguely.

Youngest out of three children, her older brother, Gregory, is an incredibly average guy who's extremely confused as to what the fuck happens on her journey, and never NOT worried about her.

Parents died in a car accident some two years before the start of the storyline, is cared for by Gregory at this point in time

Don't ask why Greg is a thing. He just is.

Like Arden before her, Lina takes a very proactive approach to dealing with Silver during the Radio Tower Incident. Which involves decking him in the jaw.

Surprisingly, this is the part where there relationship improves.

Chooses a Totodile and names him Reyne, and is fiercely protective of him. The little guy could put a Sobble to shame... This also means Silver ends up with the incredibly overly energetic and affectionate Chikorita, all for my personal amusement, (said Chikorita is named Lyra, and no, he does not spoil her, shut your mouth Aurum!).

Her entire story isn't so much focused on her gym challenge or the reappearance of Team Rocket, as it is finding out what the fuck happened to her sister.

Ethan starts tagging along after Goldenrod, and starts to reveal he knows a lot more than he's willing to admit about the situation.

Gets caught up in a lot of nasty things, and nearly ends up dismantling an operation to kill Red, Lance, and Cynthia.

(Where are our favorite colored duo, and supporting tree, during all this you may ask? Why, still recovering from trauma of course! Like reasonable, sane, run-of-the-mill people. More specifically, Blue's officially taking over Viridian gym before the start of the Kanto gym circuit season, Red's fucking around in Hoenn for a good bit before coming to Mt. Silver just two months before Lina gets there, and Arden's in that vague Greece based region getting therapy.)

Her journey is just a really long incident report, and Looker has half a mind to slap her at the end of it.

A good portion of it is Ethan's fault though. Ethan, by the way, nails the looking right through you stare.

And a girl named Sarah Morgendy comes up a lot, although it turns out she's just a kid trying to protect her adopted brother from the shit shoe she got them involved in illegally.

The only two problems with that is she's about eleven and emotionally compromised.

Gets recruited by Interpol after everything is said in done.

Gets the code name Agent Lenz.

Demands therapy for herself, Ethan, and Silver. She gets it.

While she's training as an agent, Ethan and his mother move to Unova so that he can attend an Academy meant 'rising stars', and Silver becomes Elm's apprentice.

...somehow ends up married to Blue years down the line. They have two kids between them. Maria and Reginald

Okay just saying, I don’t know as much as you do so we’re keeping it to Kanto/Jyoto/Sinnoh/Hoenn yay but idk abt who goes where so anyway!

Ichiro

Fire type! He loves the fire type Pokémon

And he would definitely choose Charmander as his starter because he’s Ichiro like that

And later on in life he’s like Red (if you know him) or like a very strong trainer

Because he had his Delinquent days (and he highkey detached himself from his brothers so he could go around and win battles and get money for them you know kinda like TDD) so he had his edgy fire squad

And like he explored everywhere, kind of being a general badass and earning his reputation by beating the gyms and all that

but then he matured over the course of his journey (and he learned a ton of new shit) and went back to go around with his brothers and willingly goes through the journey with them so he can help them out

Plus he missed them so he needs to make up for it and they forgive him later on yay

But yes, loves fire type and is very very skilled when it comes to training, battling, motivating, LOVING, and taking care of Pokemon

And okay like I rly see him being a mentor for his brothers and just one day showing off his moves with his fucking charizard and letting saburo uwu ride on it AHHHH

I don’t think he would go for gym leader because he’s more of an adventure boy

Jiro

He tries to live up to his brother and stuff even if he’s kinda resentful he left for a bit, but he’s over it you know

Ichiro would give him the starter pokemon

Like tbh I think Ichiro would give him a Piplup (I’m basic I’m sorry) and like really give him tons of advice

And yes he does challenge saburo on a near daily basis

And ichiro allows this because training, though Jiro won’t get it through his head that a full out offensive isn’t the way to go, though Ichiro figures that he’ll get over it

Anyway, moving on, that’s basically Jiro’s arc and like the buster bros would become like a unit and it would be so cool to see them battle around

And he’s also an adventure boy and really hates it when Saburo delays for some knowledge pursuit

Like he would bring out his also eager Pokemon to drag saburo away like even the piplup gets unto it and tries to drag saburo away from the pursuit of knowledge

Saburo

Quite literally a Pokemon nerd

No really he would probably be the first of the bros to complete his Pokédex like he would finish it

And his goal isn’t like to BATTLE BATTLE BATTLE or WAR WAR WAR it’s literally to gotta catch them all because he’s in the pursuit of knowledge that way

I rly see him having like an Eevee (if any of you play let’s go Eevee) or just not a typical starter Pokemon you know

Ichiro would probably end up giving him an eevee anyway because he knows an Eevee would appeal to like Saburo because it’s an extraordinary type of pokemon

He would love his eevee to the death and would dress it up in all these cute outfits

And yeah he’s a tough guy to battle, but you’ll more likely find him just enjoying the actual pokemon instead of battling

And he’s also p good at strategising when it comes to pokemon and he helps out his brothers

Is very happy with the journey and all that

Samatoki

Definitely a gym leader, like really because reasons I rly see him being one

And oh my god I see him with a fucking Lucario like!!!!!

And he would love his pokemon to the death and all

And yeah he would be in charge of a fighting type of Pokemon or like that would be his specialty because he’s Samatoki sama aka mr ha ko on the microphone

And yeah he would probably have a side job as a yakuza, but like gym is life and he’s really aggressive but also very very smart when it comes to his attacks

Like even if he’s up against a higher level or like a psychic type, he will come out on top and beat the opposition

Anyway, his origin story is like he just wants to show everyone how strong he is and how that no matter how many times you get beat down, you have to keep going back up

And when he roams around or like helps people train in his own gym, he has a strict way of teaching, but also somewhat understanding and his tips really do help those who visit his gym

Very much open to receiving challenges because he needs to fight oh yeah

He also explored a lot of places and has a shit ton of influence, but the gym and his city is really his home

Team rocket aint fucking with him

Jyuto

Electric type! Is his type!

And yeah srsly just imagine him in that blue Pokemon police uniform hmmm

Also glasses are tilted and touched a lot because that’s the Pokemon trope with the eyeglass glare and everything

Though he’s a kind of corrupt cop, but doesn’t associate with team rocket because you know, exploitation of Pokemon

Though he spies a lot so he has a lot of connections and he’s like the in10se police spy that would be able to find his way in the underground

Like a spy with a position in team rocket oh yeah

And how he meets Samatoki is that Samatoki got into a fight with a team rocket and Jyuto had to subtly subdue said team rocket member

Anyway, yes electric type Pokemon and I really see him with a Luxray because he be cool like that

But seeing him with a shinx you can RIP my soul and send me to heaven because that shit is adorable

Riou

He’s probably also a gym leader

Basically MTC consists of two gym leaders and a cop

Literally Lt. Surge and except he would most likely love grass type pokemon or bug type, or anything you can find in the woods because survival life

Because he’s a woods kind of boy and he spends most of his time with wild pokemon and befriending them before catching them

DO YOU SEE HIM WITH A FUCKING BULBASAUR???? Like???? I really do and it would be so fucking cute to see him with all the little oddish and the Butterfree and the Beautifly and the weedles

This man can have my soul because I can really see him with his flower Pokemon like Venusaur and Meganium and a Vileplume and a Tropius (I know banana but still)

He would love him the grass Pokemon and the bug type

Anyway, yeah he’s all about that survival so his gym is quite the labyrinth, complete with traps

And sometimes he just goes out to roam and spend time with the Pokemon while shirtless :>>>

Ramuda

“Anything cute!” Like he would have a cue Pokemon out and walking with him

But when he brings out his arsenal it’s like really strong Pokemon, though he would probably favor fairy type Pokemon, though there would be a mix of dark type also

I really see him with a Gengar and causing little mischiefs because why not

He also loves fashion so he would really be the champion of those beauty pageants with all his deceptively cute Pokemon like wigglytuff and everyone thinks he’s just superficial and can’t battle for shit

But then face him off and it’s just a complete disaster and you’re going to be wrecked

Like he knows how to deceive and use his Pokemon’s weaknesses to their advantages and he knows the tricks of the trade, all while looking great

i don’t think he would be in the elite four, he would just be one of those freakishly strong trainers that would just pop in every once in a while

Mostly occupies his time with designing, but yeah, pretty good in battle as well

Gentaro

Ghost type!!!! Like he would love the ghost type pokemon or the psychic type because he’s mysterious that way

Or like psychic

Because I see him with an Alakazam and in general probably live in a quiet house with all of his Pokemon

And he would have a soft spot for his mimikyu because he’s the type

Probably would stay in Lavender town because he’s lavender jk no it’s because he’s the type to chill out in the outskirts and have these mystic Pokemon

Still pretty focused on his writing and some training philosophy and what not

And he would be really just calm and cool, but very defensive of his Pokemon because he will protect them with his life

But he houses this garbage rat (dice) who is completely hopeless but yeah Pokemon

And he would be p respectful of Pokemon and be pretty spiritual about it

But in battle he’s pretty dangerous because he’s an author and knows what he’s doing

Dice

I see him having a Persian or a Meowth because he’s nyaaa that way

But in general he would favor normal type Pokemon because there quite intriguing

Also I rly see him chilling around with a rattata because he’s such a garbage rat himself

And he probably doesn’t have a lot of Pokemon because he’s broke and can’t afford poke balls

But very much like Riou, he makes friends with the stray Pokemon or those neglected by their owners

Can do well in battle, but is unfortunately addicted to the gaming places even if his Pokemon try to drag him away from it

It doesn’t help that meowth is dragging him inside and everyone is just trying to stop him

Though dice would have a very unorthodox fighting style and would probably nickname all his Pokemon because he’s dice that way

I see this fucker as an elite four member so they become elite five

And like okay basically!!! You know how you have to fight all the elite four, he would be like the surprise level at the end and he’s very much god tier, like he would specialise in psychic/dragon/dark/flying type, you know that kind of mystic vibe

And he’s just on a level of his own!!! So like he’s very cool and that, and he’s kind as well, like he doesn’t spend most of his time in his seat of power or whatever and he goes around helping people and being a doctor because he likes helping people and Pokemon

But srsly, most people are in such awe of him and he’s just slaying by walking around with a Salamence or a Dragonair or a Dragonite or a fucking Charizard but rly anyway its just me

Or also like an Absol that would be awesome too

Anyway, yeah he really looks so cool, but if you get to meet him, he’s very down to earth and will sit down with you if you want some advice

Doppo

Dark Pokemon like, probably or ghost type of pokemon

I see him with a houndoom! Or like something like that

And he’s pretty anxious and unsure of battling

But if his Pokemon are threatened you have unlocked the beast and he will go on a rampage

Mostly a stressed worker that needs some time to sleep

Usually sleeps with his snorlax or on his slowbro

Like I rly see him just collapsing with a snorlax and sleeping for the entries day

But he would also run and his ghastly would chase after him and his houndoom would prevent him from falling on the tracks and impaling himself

He also shares a room with Hifumi, with his fairy type Pokemon

Srsly, this household has the polar opposites getting along together like the houndoom would take care of the little Pokemon and its pretty wholesome

Probably not that invested in collecting Pokemon and he’s happy with the ones he has

Hifumi

“Anything cute!” No legit he would really have beautiful and cute pokemon like rly pretty but also freakishly strong Pokemon

His clefairy is a thing of legend

And he’s into all that beauty pageant stuff too

And in his club he has his cute electric type Pokemon do their thing along with fairy sparkles and what not

Hifumi with a minun and plusle that’s all that’s all you need to know

Anyway, he loves dressing up his Pokemon, but in host mode, have fun trying to best him in battle because he is really confident in his Pokemon and all that

He might wipe your ass on the floor, unless you’re a girl of course and he’s out of host mode

But in general, all he wants to do is cuddle and play with his Pokemon along with sleeping on the snorlax that doppo sleeps on after a long day at work

Just quickly from like Gen 1 through 4 I like all the starters and have used all the starters pretty evenly. These will just be my personal favourites but picking a fav amongst those 4 generations was harder that the others. Also Cyndaquil remains my favourite starter because it was my first ever starter.

Gen 1: Charmander

Gen 2: Cyndaquil - Favourite Starter overall

Gen 3: Treeko

Gen 4: Piplup

Gen 5: Oshawott - Snivy a close second

Gen 6: Fenniken - Honestly this is the only gen that I regularly box my starter after I get the Kanto starter

Gen 7: Popplio - Rowlett a close second

Gen 8: Sobble - So far it's all I've used so this might change

Favourite Character from each gen..... Ok I'm gonna have to like include Fire Red/Leaf Green as Gen 1 same with Heart Gold/Soul Silver and Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. So when I say someone for Gen 3 is my fav just assume I'm referring to their remake version.

Gen 1: Blue Oak - This Gen doesn't have much to work with but he is the most famous rival in the series for a reason, they made you WANT to beat this guy.

Gen 2: Silver - I swear my answers won't always be the Rival. One of the best Rival arcs in the series, was the only proper rival for a long time to even have a proper arc.

Gen 3: Steven Stone - I just like him, especially in Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire.

Gen 4: Cynthia - Still the hardest Champion Battle I've had in any game, her moments with Cyrus in Platinum are good at showing the difference in world views between the two. Plus she's got a fucking Garchomp how can you not love that?

Gen 5: N - Do I even need to explain this one? The emotional conflict in Gen 5 is driven by this poor confused, abused and lonely young man who only is doing what he thinks is right but later realised his entire life has been a lie. It's heartbreaking but the fact he gets back up after it all is inspiring, he even tries to come to the rescue 2 years later when his good for nothing abusive father is trying to wreck shit again.

Gen 6: Professor Sycamore - Now I'll admit X and Y did not leave a massive impact on me but Professor Sycamore did, from actually battling the player to being friends with the Bad Guy and feeling guilty about not noticing the red flags sooner I wish we could have seen more of Professor Sycamore in game, I think there's a lot of interesting material there. Sina and Dexio are close seconds just for how memorable their antics are.

Gen 7: Lillie - Similar to N I don't feel like I really need to explain this one. Sun and Moon at its core is a story about Lillie, about how she handles her abusive mother and how slowly she learns to become her own person rather than the one her mother wants her to be but that she doesn't become bitter, she still wants to save her mother even after what she's been through. Lillie is great.

Gen 8 - oh hard one, I'd have to say Piers. Getting to work alongside him in the post game section and during the storming of Rose Tower was great.

SUMO…OR HGSS….oras is SO fancy and i love it so much. my first pkmn game was the og red but i was really young and i dont remember it very vividly?? the first game i actually remember playing was pokemon ruby so oras is SUPER important to me!!!! i really love the diving part of the game and all the legendaries and the postgame storyline and the characters sm!!!!! everything is just SO nostalgic and its really comfy in general….i really love hgss too!!!! bc u can walk around w ur pkmn and that is. the best thing in the WORLD to me. all i want is to show my pkmn lots of love and check up on them from time to time to see if theyre ok w how things r going….i really love sumo bc!!!! it has pokemon amie which also lets me get close to my pokemon and!!! character customization…character customization is SO cool. i feel like i would really love lets go eevee/pikachu if i played it bc it has all of those things plus the nostalgia factor of kanto being the first region i ever played but i dont have a switch so i cant play it yet :-(

ITS. generally much easier to start out the game w a plant type bc of the starting gyms and also im really attached to bulbasaur now!!!! i like plant types a lot :DD

Recent discussions I’ve had about starter pokémon has led me to think about how I would personally rate them in order of preference. Obviously I know what my tip-top favorites are, but there are so many starters that I can’t list them in order of preference off the top of my head. As such, I’ve decided to take the time to list them all out and do it now.

(Note: Pikachu and eevee aren’t on this list because they don’t count as real starters.)

Since I have different feelings about different evolutionary stages for each starter, I’m going to have three lists: one for first, secondary, and final evolutions. At the end, I’ll list some of my findings about my preferences. Each list starts with my most favorite (#1), and ends with my least (#21). Additionally, my reasoning for why my preferences are they way they are don’t have anything to do with use in the competitive field, or anything like that. This is merely my preference list, which ones I like most, and there’s not even a set criteria. Sometimes it’s which ones I think are cute or cool looking, and other times it’s which ones I have emotional attachment to due to past journeys. And sometimes it’s because I was left with a handful of ones at the end that I was very “ehhhh” about, but I had to put them somewhere, so I did my best.

Overall Findings:

While I’m not too fond of the bulbasaur line overall, I’d actually say that bulbasaur is my favorite stage of that line, because of Ash’s bulbasaur and how much he reminded me of one of our old family dogs, personality-wise. However, the first stage category has some very fierce competition due to how cute everyone is at that stage, so as a result, it looks like I like bulbasuar less than I like ivysaur and venusaur, when that’s actually not the case. (Similar things happened with a few others.)

It seems my favorite starters from each region, going by stage, are: Kanto: First: Charmander Second: Charmeleon Third: Charizard Johto: First: Cyndaquil Second: Quilava Third: Typhlosion Hoenn: First: Treecko Second: Grovyle Third: Swampert Sinnoh: First: Chimchar Second: Monferno Third: Infernape Unova: First: Oshawott Second: Dewott Third: Serperior Kalos: First: Fennekin Second: Braixen Third: Delphox Alola: First: Litten Second: Torracat Third: Decidueye So all in all I’m usually pretty consistent with who my favorite starter is in each region, but in a few cases (Hoenn, Unova, and Alola) I end up wishing I’d picked a different one by the final stage, lmao. (I mean, not entirely, but . . . I prefer the final stages of other starters.)

Surprising no one, I clearly have a vast preference for fire, at least going by the “by region” list I just made. I choose the fire-type starter in five out of seven regions, and although I do not like incineroar much at all, it still is worth pointing out that I prefer both litten and torracat over popplio, brionne, rowlet, and primarina. (Although it’s a tough call with rowlet, because I do love that little owl quite a lot.)

Going by the original lists, fire-types tend to score higher overall as well. They always occupy the first two ranks (thank you, charmander line and cyndaquil line), and if we look at the lowest number fire-types occupied in each list: First Stage: #14 (leaving seven grass- and water-types after it) Second Stage: #16 (leaving five grass- and water-types after it) Third: #20 (leaving one water-type behind it) (Spiders Incineroar is an outlier and should not have been counted) In all seriousness, incineroar is an outlier for me, because prior to incineroar the last fire-type was #14, which again left six grass- and water-types (and incineroar) behind it. While water- and grass-types tended to fare better in the second and third categories, fire-types were still preferred by a significant margin, particularly when you compare them by regional groups.

In Conclusion:

I really like fire-types and I’m never going to be able to say “no” to the charmander or cyndaquil lines. Which, I mean, we been knew, but it’s still nice to see it all laid out like this.

#about scrawlers #there's probably more that can be said #like how i prefer quadrapeds over bipeds most of the time #how i like fluffy mammals and lizards #how i hate frogs and toads and dislike penguins #etc etc #also this probably makes my feelings about the Kalos League finals even more apparent #I love Alan and Ash and was rooting for both of them #but I'm ngl it would have killed me to see a beautiful charizard lose to a disgusting greninja #so aside from it *making sense* - it's another (admittedly petty) reason why I was happy Alan won #OH ANOTHER THING I JUST NOTICED: in each category my top fave is a fire-type #and my least fave is a water-type #there's that too
