The crunch of dry leaves underfoot

A scented candle lit for a bath after a cold, rainy day

The first bite of chill in the morning air once the weather turns

Fog creeping in as the sun sets

The light of a full yellow moon shining through a window

Fleeting touches with gloved hands

An apple pie fresh from the oven steaming on the stove

The piercing yowl of a street cat in the distance

Snuggling up on the couch as rain batters against the roof

A mug of hot spiced cider on a cool evening

The crackling of a raging bonfire in the middle of the woods

Scratchy straw beneath the seat of a jostling hayride

Skeletal trees silhouetted stark black against the purple night sky

A tart, crisp apple covered in sticky-sweet caramel

A borrowed sweater, soft and well-worn and still smelling of its owner

The low, steady purr of a big orange tabby curled up, slumbering

Bringing chilly hands up to warm with hot breath

The orange glow of a jack o'lantern

Hurrying down a wet street after the skies have opened up in a biting rain

A heavy wool coat settling over shivering shoulders

Wind howling outside a closed window

A misty sunrise over trees fading to yellow and orange and red

The moon clouding over on a starless night

Steaming coffee spiked warm with cinnamon in the morning

The first dark morning, pitch black when there once was sunlight
