@lettherebemonsters partially plotted starter (because I'm excited).

It was no surprise that Rue was there. Why wouldn't she be? This was one of the biggest music festivals of the year. And it was her job to cover all things 'horror, metal, and mayhem', just like her radio show claimed. It was also no surprise that Velvet Graves wasn't being interviewed for her show, even though most of the other artists in the weekend's lineup were. Not after the ugly breakup they'd had, and Rue stating on her show that she'd been embarrassed that the Velvet Graves' debut (and hit) single had been about her.

What surprised Nova was that Rue wasn't alone. It wasn't just her producer or cameraman with her. No. She seemed to have a date. Because she was far too close to this guy for him to just be somebody from the station or just a friend. She couldn't help watching from the stage at how much physical attention Rue was showing him. Her hand on his shoulder, sliding down his arm. The smile and laughter that fell from her lips whenever he spoke to her. Pushing her hair from one shoulder to the other. All the things Rue had done when they first started dating.

And maybe saving "Bleed My Heart Out" for the last song of their set had been an intentional move. An effort to take a jab at everybody's favorite horror darling. But it was also their biggest hit, the fans expected it. And no matter what, there'd be attention and speculation surrounding Velvet Graves, and Rue, whether they performed it or not.

As the last few notes of the song echoed from the amps, and the crowd sang the last couple of lines in unison with Nova, she couldn't help glancing in the direction she'd last seen Rue in. After they came down off the stage, Nova acted without even thinking. "So you're who she dumped me for?" Her tone was angry, and it was clear she was hurt. Though she was completely unaware that Rue's interest in Leslie had sparked well after the breakup with Nova had taken place.

Open Starter

Legs were thrown over the arm of the chair, guitar resting across her stomach. Always nearby, Judas rested on her knee as she slowly plucked at the strings.

Nova wasn't playing anything in particular. She wasn't even necessarily trying to write a new song. Just putting chords together and seeing how it sounded. Velvet Graves' first tour ended with a festival, and she was glad to be off the road, at least for a little while. Though it was clear from the expression on her face that there was something weighing on her.

The way Optimus' eyes are rendered and textured in TFP, always reminded me of tear tracks? The etchings underneath.

Like this gentle man, who so badly wanted peace above all else, had cried so many tears till he had none, that they were now marked forever on his face.
