My take on Mrs Melisha Tweedy and why she is the way she is:
One of the first things that stuck out at me from reading “Mrs Tweedy’s Pie for the Soul” was Melisha’s backstory. Her father gifted her a puppy but her mother was disgusted with this. She wanted him to buy Melisha something “valuable”. Melisha reacts the same way as her mother does.. however we see a glimpse of her father in her when she agrees to try to bond with the puppy.
It seems she tries to make her mother happy the most, by saying she wanted a “gold telly” which is… unheard of for sure… and unrealistic. This tells me that she comes from a wealthy family.. this is maybe where her lust for money and power come from.. her mother. Her father seems very down to earth. He talks about how a young girl shouldn’t want riches, she should want something along the lines of a puppy, like other kids her age. I was obsessed with getting a puppy when I was a young girl.. just like most of my peers. The way her mother talks to her father is the same tone as she talks to Mr Tweedy.. a learnt behaviour.
We also see that Melisha doesn’t get along with her young peers. She claims she has no friends and is okay with this. It seems her mother’s words about being rich and alone seemed to have stuck with her. She’s accepted she has no friends, which is probably why she wants to be rich. She doesn’t want to be both poor AND lonely, which she ends up becoming after the end of the first film, or even the start.
Conclusion? She’s just like her mother. Her father tried, probably countless times to bring her back into reality and show money isn’t everything. But she’s stuck in her mother’s ways.. which is what we see from the first Chicken Run. The way she talks to Mr Tweedy, the way she’s obsessed with being rich. She most likely feels like she’s failed her mother now she’s poor and on a farm worth nothing. There’s a hint of emotional abuse from her mother.. cold and bitter, especially about how she should act. Here she’s a child, a child who cannot make friends and cannot see why most kids love puppies and toys etc. Thanks to her mother’s rich tendencies.
But why did she end up poor? Where is all this money and riches she once talked about? My guess is something happened with her father and they went bankrupt. Her parents lost everything during the wars. She was probably a teenager when the Wall Street crash happened.. remember it did affect the UK too quite a bit. When she met and eventually married Mr Tweedy, she probably saw the already probably dying farm as a new big business adventure.. but it didn’t go to plan. And in the second film, where she’s now married to Dr Fry, it’s mainly due to money and power. She married Mr Tweedy for love and a big future.. possibly children, which we saw never happened... she married Dr Fry for his money and intelligence.
Mr Tweedy… where do I start? The comic relief of the film one may say. He is a funny character. But she wasn’t abusive towards him. Emotionally? Perhaps some may say. We see her call him all sorts of names.. but physically? No. (Apart from that boot to the ass but that’s not relevant here). A simple man from a long line of farmer, most likely inherited Tweedys farm from his own father.
We see from his excerpt that the marriage is all but dead. However he says that he likes “a kind word from the missus” which indicates there is still a spark there. They do love each other but she isn’t in love anymore. She still does give him these “kind words” from his segment, and we see in the film her pinching his butt in one scene. My theory is they did marry for love, but with the farm failing and them becoming poorer than usual, that once love is now gone, from Melisha’s side anyway.
They divorce because well.. there’s nothing left. The farm is gone, the chickens are gone, money.. gone. They probably sold the farm and then divorced, he mayhaps moved on to work on another farm as a farmhand, and she met Dr Fry and the rest is history. There’s one part in the second film which sticks out to me, where she says “my current husband” meaning she probably will divorce him and take a lot of his money, investments and inventions. Yall know miss Melisha signed her name on many of these things. All I can say there is girlboss!
My ultimate conclusion: she’s had a hard life, give the woman a break. she’s not the “villain from chicken run” she’s a businesswoman with goals and aspirations.
I am all for any other theories or discussions with any of you!! I love it.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk!

Dear chicken run fandom
Look, we are all weirdos. I am openly someone who is attracted to Mrs Tweedy, and sometimes we all get too much. But MY GOD, some of you need to get it through your skull that this is a children’s movie. It may be dark, and may be griddy at times, but it is also a movie that was advertised for children. There were books for children, this was a movie made for children. You probably know who and what I am talking about if you saw my Mrs Tweedy post simply exclaiming that I love her.
I do admit in that post I was aggressive but for fucks sake!! There are kids here, children. Children who we shouldn’t talk to about sex or talk about it around them. I have met people in this fandom who are under 15, this fandom is mainly minors. I’m not gonna call this person directly out, because honestly the fact they didn’t understand that this is a fandom with minors in it baffles me and I don’t want to deal with them. I really just wanted to put it out there that some of you need to understand that THERE ARE KIDS HERE! Like, it’s a no brainer. People are always talking about minors invading adult spaces, and how minors shouldn’t be there. YOU shouldn’t be in minor spaces, you can like Bluey, or chicken run, or whatever the fuck you like I do not care but do not bring your:
NSFW.
Adult conversations.
And adult subjects
Into those spaces. For fucks sake it’s that easy, it says a lot about you as a person if you can’t understand that. Chicken run has minors in it, a bunch of minors. Because, omg totally “new” concept, minors are on the internet. Woah, kids exist and it’s like they have every fucking right to a NSFW FREE SAFE SPACE.
I get simping, being like “omg step on me” to an extent BUT MY FUCKING GOD. Bringing up sex or a woman's breasts and body on posts that have nothing to do with that subject matter is disgusting. I get the second one, Melishas body changed but the fact you pointed out her boobs directly is gross.
Please, for the love god, a lot of you need to tag your shit correctly and realize these fandoms have minor in them. It fucks people up man, and that’s not on the minors for finding that content. It’s on you, the adult, for exposing them to said content.
Please also go check out @melishatweedy and @pant-eater rants on this, because they are genuinely way better than mine and probably don’t have spelling errors. (Sorry for the @‘s)
and again, can’t stress this enough, minors deserve safe spaces. You as an adult are responsible to keep those places safe in fandom that revolve around media directed to minors. Get your shit together and tag your shit correctly.
If anyone wants to know the full context, I am happy to explain in DMs btw.

MISTAH TWEEDEH!: A life he wished for but didn’t get:
Willard Tweedy, a simple man, a farm, a wife, a brew and a shotgun.
Little is really said in the books about his life. However his family have been chicken farmers for generations - as we see in the film and the books - and he wants to continue egg farming, it’s all he’s ever known. We see in Mrs Tweedy’s Chicken Pies for the Soul that his uncle was killed by a chicken, which is his first glimpse of knowing the chickens are more than just “stupid creatures”. I feel like this is his only real “smart” moment. He built a fucking pie machine and didn’t know what it was. Like mate.. name’s on the boxes surely..
He’s clearly in love with Melisha, we see it in their wedding photo, the way he speaks to her, the way he questions his own sanity for her. Man’s devoted and I don’t blame him lol. There’s the slight emotional abuse with the name calling, but I absolutely hate it when they say she’s physically abusive etc.. She’s not. Yes she kicked his arse but she’s not physically abusive. Also, there’s hints that there’s still that spark between them, and I stand by my point that they were in love at one point, and they married for love (and a business prospect). (I also love the theory of the him being her beard.)
He’s clearly the comic relief of the first film, similar to Dr Fry in the second. However he’s not just the poor little abused husband people make him out to be. He’s in fact worse than Melisha to the chickens. You see him kicking and throwing ginger into “solitary confinement”, which in the real world a chicken would last mear hours -if that- before dying. He also picks them up by the neck, whereas we see Melisha (apart from handling Edwina, but she was about to be killed) picking them up by their bodies (CR:DOTN). No wonder they’re not laying eggs, they’re being handled in such ways! ALSO HE PUT A LIVE CHICKEN IN THE PIE MACHINE BOY I SWEAR TO GOD-
Anyway, my conclusion: he comes from a poor background, a farmers background and that’s all he knows, it’s all he’s ever known. He’s just as bad as Melisha when it comes to the chickens. He’s most likely seen how his father and grandfather treated the chickens and carried it on. Learnt behaviour. They’re both as bad as each other but he’s maaainly the reason the chickens aren’t laying any eggs. My theory is that after their divorce he remained in Yorkshire but moved away, has a little flat and is a farmhand on another farm, as it’s probably all he has experience wise. Hope your little flat is cosy, king!

𝓦𝓮𝓵𝓬𝓸𝓶𝓮
Ask the Dales is a multi-character OC heavy chicken run blog focusing on the humans of the Yorkshire Dales from the movie chicken run.
𝓞𝓾𝓻 𝓬𝓪𝓼𝓽
𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝚟𝚒𝚕𝚕𝚊𝚐𝚎
Elizabeth Rosell (Pronounced Rose-ell) A young and chipper read head, Elizabeth works at her mother’s sweetshop with her much more clinical sister Agatha. She is 17, and her favorite baked good is spice cake.
Victoria Smith
Victoria is a brilliant inventor with big dreams of advancing technology. She spends her time making up crazy inventions ranging from making her friend Deelins bike motor powered to dissembling her step fathers car. She is the same age as Eliza, the two have known each other the longest.
𝙵𝚊𝚛𝚖𝚕𝚊𝚗𝚍𝚜
Vera Rushton
The Tweedys neighbor, she was always first. First to marry, first to have children, etc etc. She makes a pass time of this by rubbing it in Melisha Tweedys face, the two have an undeniable rivalry. She’s a horrible mother to her two children (Caroline and Charlie) but she somehow is able to keep a fairly clean reputation.
Caroline Rushton
Deelin, Victoria, and Elizabeth’s bully. She finds it therapeutic to pick on others, and is mildly sociopathic. She is 17, and a down right spoiled brat.
Mrs and Mr Tweedy. Willard and Melisha Tweedy, they are two farmers. They both are tragic in their own ways, and were once in ‘love’. Currently Melisha is a bitter woman with no interest in farm life, only in money. Willard is trying to keep this farm afloat, and failing each day. Deelin Tweedy
Unfortunately the child of Mr and Mrs Tweedy, Deelin is the youngest teen in the dales at 16. She is smart, clever, and clumsy always seemingly finding herself in unexpected and dangerous situations. She’s level headed, apathetic, and enjoys time away from the farm where she doesn’t have to deal with either of her parents. 𝚁𝚞𝚛𝚊𝚕
H H is the town’s mysterious mortician, they are a towering height (6’6) meaner than you would expect, and is often the one handling the funerals in the dales. While strangely apathetic they have a soft spot for some, mainly those in mourning. They are Deelins piano teacher, mentor, and parental figure to her, Eliza, and Victoria. Their house is an impressive collection of anything and everything, but it’s still neat and tidy as ever
Azalea
A witch who lives in the woods, one of Deelins friends. She is not seen or spoken about much, but she often is found stealing from Tweedys farm. Run by: @darlingdeeceased
Blog is 15 plus and contains some darker themes not suitable for younger children. View discretion is advised.

MORE MELISHA HEADCANONS PLEASE I BEG
Tumblr media
I HEAR YOU AND I SHALL DELIVER!! I'm so glad there are so many Tweedy fans
Again, spoiler warning?
It's kind of a long post so, look under the cut.
When Mr Tweedy would take her on dates (a rare occasion indeed) she'd actually rather enjoy herself. Mainly because it's food she doesn't have to prepare or pay for. If Dr Fry took her on a date, she'd probably treat it like a business meeting and just act as if she's enjoying herself to keep him content.
Frequently dyes her hair to hide the greys.
Hobbies? I reckon she loves going hunting with her two dogs. Probably loves a bit of cooking too and not just chicken but all sorts of decent meals. Gordon Ramsey style "WHERE'S THE LAMB SAUCE MR TWEEDY!?"
I'd like to think that within all her notebooks and things of papers, bills and stuff there are little doodles. Like on the side of her clipboard papers too.
I feel like she straightens her hair but actually has naturally wavy/curly hair.
She doesn't like children. I feel like this is an obvious thing but like yeah. Although, I feel like she'd make a fun auntie.
SO if she was an auntie, she'd become extremely protective over her niece and show her how to use an axe and stuff. She'd push other kids off swings then say they fell off just so that her niece can have a turn.
In my previous Headcanons post I mentioned how she snores, I'd like to think it takes ages for her to actually fall asleep. Just laying there, eyes wide. Whilst Mr Tweedy is sleeping like a baby. Then future wise, Dr Fry probably doesn't even sleep in the same room let alone same bed. Like he has his own little bedroom and Melisha has this massive, extensively large bedroom quarters to herself.
She hates nicknames but will tolerate them to please whoever her current husband is. "My love" "Pumpkin" She prefers acts of love rather than words of affirmation, nothing sappy/cheesy.
When she was younger... She was definitely "Daddy's Little Princess" SURELY. Just stood there looking all innocent, give it a few decades and she's a maniac chicken farmer.
Hopefully these made sense, I'm just kinda spilling information from my head lol.
If you want to know more or wish to know specific ones from prompts then go for it. Literally anything, she's all that's going through my head atm. Hyperfixation fr

hello this is an infodump about my probably-never-going-to-be-finished fic for the magic college au (it is Very Long)
basically like halfway through may i started this fic where (if you didnt read the tumblr post which is fine im about to tell you all about it anyways) I took all the lodgers, gave them super powers and stuck them into college (originally it was high school but that felt weird since they're supposed to be adults)
Here's me explaining all the powers and why I chose them now because I Can
Henry and Edward have the same power bc theyre still one physical being, Henry most reflects the "original", but pretty much when he was a little kid he accidentally used his power on himself and split his personality/being into two, creating Henry Jekyll (The "good") and Edward Hyde (The "bad"). Edward likes to hold it over him that as much as he likes to pretend he *isnt* the original and is just as much of a fragment as he is. Henry avoids using his powers now, but his friends and family kepts "casually" nudging him to try a school for exploring your powers, so now he's in one. His power is a lot more than what he did to himself, it just allows him to manipulate emotions, thoughts and memories. It was called "Disconnect" because the only way he knows how to use it is to shut off said things (for example, if someone is having a panic attack he could just turn their emotions off. he wont though, because he has no clue how to reverse it)
Ito is like, one of the most important characters just because of her power. Her power is like the opposite (kinda). It's called 'Connect', and it allows her to connect two or more people together through various means. Senses, thoughts, emotions, memories, etc. She hasn't unlocked much of its capabilities because she doesn't know how to control it, and one of the few times she's used it it was on her brother and he still holds a grudge on her for it. She accidentally Connects their entire dorm floor on the first day there. After those three the rest of the abilities are kinda basic and not super relevant to the plot i already came up with, but im sure theyll find a use at some point George Bird, who prefers to be called Bird, has chlorokinesis (which means he can manipulate plants) because in the comic his expertise is  Crypto-horticulture which is just like-- magic plants basically. So now he has a magic that deals with plants Christopher Archer, who prefers to be called Archer, has telekinesis. He often uses it to help himself while messing around with inventions or repairs (his family wasn’t exactly well off, so he was often the one repairing broken things. good thing he has a knack for it), he’s just in the college to learn something more and get away from home James Maijabi can communicate with spirits, it’s driven him a little bonkers but at least most ghosts fade after a period of time and stop bugging him. He doesn’t use the ability to do much, but he has successfully solved a murder once. He’s in the college to learn to banish the ghosts, and to maybe use them to his advantage. Ranjit Helsby can breathe underwater as his expertise in the comic is  Bathynautical Exploration, which if i remember right means he just explores the oceans. I thought it was fitting. He’s at the college to practice his power in a safe, controlled environment and see if there’s any hidden aspects to it. Lily Lavender can teleport, she doesn’t have much control on it as it only manifested in full a little under half a year ago. She often teleports around uncontrollably when excited, and it has turned into more than a few accidents. She just wants to learn to control it. Eleanora Cantiloupe can levitate herself and other objects, she wants to learn to life heavier objects and bring herself higher off the ground without risking falling off a building or crushing herself with a bowling ball. Jackson Griffin can turn himself and other living creatures invisible, which he discovered around age 8 when he turned his cat invisible and thought it died/ran away. The invisibility wore off after Griffin thought he was going insane feeling a cat-like weight on him while he was sleeping or hearing ghost purrs. Walter Pennybrigg’s ability is called ‘Lifelike’ and he can bring inanimate objects to life, he wants to learn how to make the time limit of half an hour longer. Anthony Sinnett can control fire, he wants to learn how to stop sparking when angry or excited and not catch random things on fire without noticing.  Martin Mosley can block light in such a way that seems as though they’re manipulating shadows, they want to see if there’s any way to make this useful. Baxter Tweedy can turn himself into a being of electricity and go from various electronic and manipulate them from inside. He wants to make sure he never gets stuck inside any electronic and maybe learn to manipulate things from the outside. Robert Lanyon can manipulate water, he just wants to stop accidentally splashing people when he gets pissed off. Jonathan Luckett’s ability is called ‘Combustion’ and it does exactly what it sounds like it does; make things explode. He just wants to be able to explode things without burning a hosue down. Rachel Pidgely can heal living beings, she wants to learn to heal bigger wounds after her brother died and she couldn’t help him. Charles Tanis can bring things back from the dead (temporarily, after half an hour they become zombie-like and after another fifteen minutes they drop dead, unable to be ressurected again), he wants to make his time limit longer and possibly re-ressurect previously ressurected beings. Jasper Kaylock, his ability is called ‘Werewolf’, he can shapechange between a fully human form, fully wolf form and anthro wolf form, he has heightened senses and is naturally much stronger and faster. He wants to be able to control his shapechanging, because currently he’s human during the day, anthro wolf at night and full wolf on full moons.  Victoria Frankenstein, ‘Sentience’, gives sentience to a being capable of containing it, and it is currently permanent with the exclusion of death. She wants to make the sentience non-permanent or learn to control those she gives it to. Creature, a product of Frankenstein’s attempts to create a new species, she has yet to kill him so he simply follows her around After arriving at the school Rachel and Jasper start gathering their dorm-hall mates (as everybody on this list all lives on the same floor/hall but in seperate rooms) for a shopping trip. sometime on this trip Ito accidentally Connects the entire party together, but it doesnt really hit until they all get back. There’s about fifteen minutes of everybody panicking, which created an obnoxious feedback loop of panic. Ito, familiar with her own ability (kinda), Henry, familiar with sharing a mind with another, and Rachel, naturally good at handling hers and others emotions, all manage to detangle themselves from the mess and start calming people down. They all make their way out into the common room where Ito admits that she really didn’t mean to do this, and she has no idea how to fix it. They have to figure out living with their minds all mangled up for at least a couple weeks now. In this time, they discover a few secrets about each other. Frankensteins dead girlfriend, Jekyll’s secret ability and even more secret other half, jasper’s werewolf downsides, rachel’s dead brother, the list goes on.  annd that’s all ive got anygays enjoy your day
