Time for a personal update

So I figured it was time to post another personal update on the status of this blog and the status of my health. Unfortunately it’s not good and frankly I don’t know how much long I’m going to be able to keep this blog up and running. Lately my pain levels have been through the roof.  I’ve spent most of this weekend in bed with a heating pad just hoping that the pain would let up, even if it was just a little bit so I could refresh the queue and do a few things around the house.  Right now I’m forcing myself to push through the pain but I know I’ll pay for it later when things flare up even worse.  Constantly battling my own immune  system is a real bitch, lemme tell ya. I did see a new doctor a couple weeks ago.  Unfortunately it was more of the same – let’s run a bunch of blood work and tests and go from there.  Without health insurance or a steady income I just can’t afford a thousand dollars worth of blood work and tests.  I can barely cover picking up my hypertension medications.  I went around two weeks without them and nearly wound up the ER with a hypertensive crisis.  If you don’t know what a hypertensive crisis is please look it up.  It’s not something you’d want to go through. However, I did manage to find some old blood pressure meds that brought it down enough to make it until I could go to the doctor and get my prescriptions renewed. I don’t seem to have suffered any real lasting effects like a stroke or anything of that nature, though my kidneys do still hurt a bit. I still don’t have my medications for migraines or the medication for my arthritis; even this new doctor won’t refill the prescriptions and wants to refer me to a pain clinic instead.  Reallly?  A pain clinic for a pain med that’s not a narcotic?  *Sigh* Of course I can’t afford a trip to a pain clinic right now so I’ll just have to do without for the foreseeable future. And no, I don’t qualify for Medicaid. I also don’t qualify for any subsidy for getting health coverage, not that I could even afford the smallest monthly payment with my current income or lack thereof. Which brings me to the state of this blog.  I know a lot of you really enjoy the car posts, and I’m thankful for all of you who follow, like, reblog, and occasionally submit posts. I’m even more grateful for those of you who take the time to drop me personal messages with words of encouragement.  Really, it means a lot. But I honestly don’t know how much longer I can keep this thing up.  The crippling pain, fatigue, migraines, etc are getting to me.  I’ve barely managed keeping the queue filled recently and there’s been a time or two that I’ve let it slip because I just couldn’t muster the strength to push through the pain and create a bunch of posts. The sad reality is that I’m probably going to wind this thing down in the near future unless my situation changes.  The bad part is if I do that then all my current income will be gone.  I’ll be even more broke than I am now.  It’s a real no-win scenario.  Up until the last year or so this blog brought in enough revenue via the ads that I could keep on top of my doctors, medications, and even pocket a few dollars here and there; but as Tumblr users moved from browsing via web to browsing via the mobile applications my blog income plummeted.  So far this year I’m down 78% from this time last year, and through all of last year it was down 81% from the previous year.  Yeah, it’s that bad.  But I get it, the mobile app is handy and really… who wants to see ads on a blog?  Even I hate ads on blogs and websites, but without that steady income to cover the necessities people like myself and others can’t make ends meet. And this is where you, my followers, can help if you’re so inclined.  I currently have @50k followers here.  If just 1% of you out there love this blog enough to contribute a buck or two it would really help me out.  If you don’t want to contribute via a small donation then please just reblog this and help raise awareness for people like myself and others who live with debilitating chronic illnesses and are currently struggling to get by. Also please consider whitelisting my blog in your ad blockers if you still browse via the website.  It really does help people like me out. But please don’t just go around clicking on the ads, that doesn’t help.  Just let them load. Oh, and by all means keep liking and reblogging my posts!
