Source (Season 1 - April 7th 2022)
hannahgreenecostumes: Stede and his robes in Our Flag Means Death! Christine Wada designed two wonderful robes that Stede wears throughout the season, plus a fantastically ruffled nightgown all made by one of the show’s pattern makers @heathervanderstitch and her team @shizenbeauty Maria Ivakhinova and Glady Cepeda! The Yellow Dressing Gown: I believe this was the very first costume piece we made for Stede. It was made out of a crinkle textured rayon with a jacquard floral motif from @moodfabrics in LA with a silk charmeuse lining. The best part about the robe is all the incredible soutache that was all the work of the incredible Maria Ivakhinova

New Hobbie going on moodfabrics. And picking out fabric for each of the nine houses.....
So fair I have also picked out the perfect necromancer robe for cytherea as duclinea
Look at it....

It's a fucking beach cover up for the only bitch who knew she was going to a beach party
And it could be made in a green floral. Something like this. (Unfortunately I couldn't find a cotton voile with a green colorway entirely composed for poisonous plants like mistletoe and nightshade)
Tumblr media
And she could just wear a simple unstructured underdress and wonder around in the most extra bathrobe at the beach like the evil cougar she is.

Just in time for the new year, I finished my sewing practice dress. I stuck to most of the pattern, except with the sleev3 hems. I'm not a fan of elastics on my wrists, so I left the ends of the sleeve flared. But it's definitely some of my cleaner sewing work, and the insides are all finished with either facings, French seams, or serging.

Fabric from @moodfabrics
I'll have to wait for the summer to wear, or at least a little bit warmer temperatures. It's quite light!

Full body photos of the Kraken Mermaid Armor, a collaborative project between myself and @faerytale-wings ! I did the corset, the cape, and the hooded bolero. She hand-tooled AND dyed all of the armor out of real leather! The white dress and the jingly navy sash are the only things that were purchased.
Corset is @silkbaron-blog Tidepool Dupioni and Midnight Velvet, trims are from Amazon. Fully lined in coordinating cotton, and three types of steel boning (spring/spiral/flat) for ultra stability! Cape is an ombre chiffon from Moodfabric, and the bolero is blizzard fleece from Joann's(to be upgraded and replaced in the future).

During my first week of study tour I visited Mood Fabrics which is conveniently located right in the center of New York City's Garment District! Mood Fabrics hosts fabrics of all kinds ranging from home decor all the way to fashion prints for any designer to shop. Designer fabrics for each category can be found on each respective floor starting with the home fabrics at the ground entry way. As soon as you walk in you will be greeted by kind and knowledgeable staff ready to help your designer dreams come true!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mood Fabrics was founded in 1991 by Jack Sauma, a Sweden designer who found a passion in selling his remaining fabrics of various collections to wholesalers for a little extra cash. One thing led to another and Jack's entrepreneurial spirit led to the successful establishment it is today. Mood Fabrics quickly became the it store by top designers and now hosts celebrity clients such as Project Runway's very own Tim Gunn all the way to novice tailors and local students.

With the new direction under Jack's sons, Mood Fabrics is now looking to expand further than its NY and LA location in the near future. I can't wait to see what's in store for the global fabric destination as they hope to open retail stores soon!

I’m back on the sewing horse!
After quite a long hiatus (long for me anyway), I completed these trousers, I’ve downloaded this pattern months ago but I finally was inspired by the sew your view tutorial for a faux fly on Instagram!
Even though the pattern included a fully working fly, they actually didn’t need it, because of the draw string waist there is ample room to squeeze in.
I searched the #WatsoniaPants for inspiration when I decided to do this pattern, this is when I came across the faux fly tutorial. A lot of the feedback from those that made it recommended making a size smaller than recommended on the pattern chart, because they were an loose fitting garment anyway, I figured if it wasn’t right they’d still fit anyway. But it actually made them fit perfectly in my opinion.
Tumblr media
I also done a little bit for the environment with this project, I got a draw string for another garment that wax falling apart and I upcycled it. Every little helps right?
Oh yeah, did I mention..: there’s POCKETS!!! The pocket choice on this pattern really accentuates, the “paper bag waist”. They also have the cutest faux pocket flaps too!!

Pattern is FREE Watsonia from Mood

Now what shall I make next 🤔
I’ll be back hopefully sooner rather than later. ✌🏽

Mood Fabrics Visit Study Tour Blog
For the first study tour journal post, I visited Mood Fabrics store in the garment district. Mood is the number one fashion fabric store because of the number of customers the store receives every day. The NYC Flagship store that the class visited was very busy with many customers going in and out looking for different fabrics. I always enjoy visiting Mood to look at all the new and trendy fabrics they receive especially looking at their detailed, delicate, and dainty fabrics: lace, embellishments, and embroidery like the ones in the picture below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My first time visiting a Mood fabrics store was in New York this past summer while interning in the city. I was a product development and sourcing intern for Adam Lippes and Anna Sui, where I did many errands in midtown visiting a lot of fabric stores and factories. The first time I visited Mood during an errand I picked up swatches for my internships.  I was impressed by how big the store in midtown was, the number of floors and the variety of trims available at the store.
Tumblr media
Mood fabrics entrance was one of my favorite parts of the store with all the fashion illustrations and drawings of different dresses. I really like how many aisles had elegant and delicate dresses like the white embroidered dress in the picture below next to numerous rolls of fabric.

TFW the first dress you sew for yourself makes you feel like Joan from Mad Men. 👗 This is the wearable muslin I did- I’m going to mess with it a *tiny* bit more, but I LOVE IT. 👗 (Pattern: @moodfabrics Citrus Dress) 👗 You can hear all about this project, and all the others on The Knitmore Girls Podcast, available on all of your favorite audio platforms. 👗 #BIPOCMaker #KnitmoregirlsPodcast #Bespoke #Sewing #SewistsOfInstagram #AndSewOn #Janome #SlowFashion #Sewist #Bespoke #Couture #TeamTrace #Muslin #WearableMuslin #MoodCamelliaPattern #MoodCitrusPattern 👗 [Image Description: A striking, freckled, and fair-skinned Iranian American woman with a sharp, short, bright Easter grass green hairdo is wearing a form-fitting teal dress with abalone buttons.
