I've been thinking , based on a few new mangas who had concepts from the previous ones included in them , If Yoshihiro Togashi would do the same in Hunter x Hunter ?
Like the existence of a few beings in the dark continent who are s-class level , like in Yu Yu Hakusho ? Or Gon being related to something on the Dark Continent ?
Or the book Kurapika gotten from Sheila , describes D-hunter adventures before the Dark Continent ?
Also is anyone else thinking that Nasubi Hui Guo Rou plans something far more sinister , with the Gu theme going around and that panel where is show next to Momozes coffin , in that weird room ? To me it looked like a power generator of something but what for ?

Hey I love yr hxh meta and I read the one you did abt the kakin royals, and you brought up an interesting point re: deadly sins/heavenly virtues. And I think that's a really good inference, especially with what we know about momoze's death? You said something abt since there are 14 of them it's gonna be deep. And I think momoze is a good example despite dying immediately. She was portrayed outwardly as kind and selfless (or less generously as kind of a pushover to her mom and stuff), but ---
her nen beast was characterized quite differently. As a manipulator skill it was def of a more callous brand of skills she could’ve had, but more than that the fact that it’s what killed her (her nen beast taking the initiative and acting immediately, which tired her out and made her susceptible to attack) really I think shows more that she was. Impatient maybe? Afraid of the situation, how alone she was in it, and so her internal fears got the best of her and manifested outwardly. Thoughts?
Hello anon!
You make great points and I agree!
The nen beasts represent a subconscious part of the princesand I think the fact a person can’t see their nen beast even if they are a nenuser is a great way to illustrate it further. It’s exactly like when irl it isdifficult for a person to have an objective vision of themselves, whereasothers might see parts of their personality they ignore.
That said, you make several good points about Momoze, so letme add my thoughts on them.
I think Momoze’s nen beast’s design represents her childishside since it is basically a giant plush:

Moreover it is shown to create minions:

And said minions resemble Teddy Bears which are famous forbeing children’s companions.
However Momoze’s nen beast and its minions are alsodisturbing to a degree and this is because Momoze was a person hence she hadboth positive and innocent parts as well as more complex and unpleasant ones.
The most interesting thing about Momoze’s nen beast, though,is this:
Tumblr media
The condition to be manipulated by it is to answer thequestion “Are you free?”.
Given Momoze’s situation and how her mother treated her isdifficult not to see in her nen beast’s behaviour a desperate search for attention. The beast, if answered negatively, will keep pestering the person who answeredit and so who gave it a little bit of aknowledgement.
In short, Momoze’s nen beast represents her hidden childishpart who asks for attention and wants people to give her some of their freetime.
It is interesting, as you said, how the beast’s behaviourcontrasts Momoze's:
Tumblr media
She acts in a very mature way and even her hobby of knittingis a very ladylike hobby which perfectly fits a young princess. Momoze isacting how her mother and her society expects her to do. She even seems readyto face her imminent death:
Tumblr media
She thinks her mother and brother are trying to fight achallenge they can’t win and it is interesting how she doesn’t take any measureagainst her enemies and doesn’t consciously do anything to avoid being killed.
However, whereas Momoze is inactive her nen beast is one ofthe most proactive ones and I think that, as you wrote, this symbolizes Momoze’srepressed feelings and how she deep down resented her mother and wanted bothattention and to fight against her fate.
Thank you for the ask!
