KUHN: ZUHLSDORF, AN NHL DRAFTEE, JOINS GREENVILLE

BY: Jordan Kuhn, Greenville Swamp Rabbits GREENVILLE, S.C. — The Greenville Swamp Rabbits have signed defenseman Ryan Zuhlsdorf to a Standard Player Contract for the upcoming 2020–21 season. Drafted in the fifth round by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2015, Zuhlsdorf, 23, brings a two-way flair, and high-level hockey experience to the Swamp Rabbits' blue line. "I was very excited to speak with Andrew Lord and get to know what the culture was that he was trying to put in Greenville. He talked to me about how much he enjoyed watching my game," Zuhlsdorf said. "Having a head coach express that interest in you and interest in your development is something I really wanted entering my pro career. Lord is investing his coaching energy into me and it's something I really appreciate. I want to get acclimated to the pro style of game and really develop my all-around game and move up the ranks." Out of Edina, Minnesota, Zuhlsdorf played for the University of Minnesota over the past four seasons, and when he found his way to the scoreboard, the Golden Gophers found a way to win. When Zuhlsdorf posted a point, Minnesota posted a 23-3-2 record, and won all three games when he scored a goal. With Zuhlsdorf in the lineup, the Golden Gophers won the 2017 Big Ten regular season championship, which set an NCAA record sixth consecutive regular season title.
