Hello everyone! I am happy to finally show a little project i've been working on for the past 2 or so weeks hehe:
Introducing: Ark's Automatons!
This pack replaced villagers with fun little automatons, some more mechanical and some more magical! And all without the use of optifine!

*A Wandering Trader enters the village on his Llamas, it wasn't the usual trader though...this one was a bit..off? He had gray skin and very disheveled looking robes, he has blue eyes and a deadpanned expression, the trader gets off his llama and starts to unpack what he has for sale, potion ingredients and other things usual traders never have for sale. He sits there on a bench and waits for someone to come along and purchase his wares. One of his Llamas lies down on her belly and rests with the other llama who is munching on a carrot.*
Tumblr media
"Oh a trader~ perfect timing." A toolsmith villager smiled "May I see your trades my good man? I'm looking for something that might help me out..."
Tumblr media
"Oh, I'm sorry... My name is Smith."

AURELIUS LORE!!
this is Aurelius, my golden/copper golem fella, and ive got some pretty extensive lore about him below
Tumblr media
Aurelius was made to be an art piece, rather than a guardian of the village as many other golems were created for. the villagers believed they didn't need protection, and that they were strong enough to fend for themselves
Aurelius being make of pure gold and copper made him very fragile and prone to damage.
once Aurelius was created, he was admired by the whole village, he was an overall gorgeous sculpture that had taken many moons to finish
at first, Aurelius enjoyed the admiration, the attention he was given was fulfilling
however, as time went on, Aurelius began to yearn for something more. the constant adoration, while initially satisfying, felt hollow and shallow. he longed for a deeper connection with the villagers, to be recognized not only for his external beauty but also for the sentient being that resided within
he often tried speaking with the villagers', but he found his interactions to be one sided and wasn't treated as the sentient being he was, rather, an object. despite his frustrations and efforts, Aurelius stood by and observed the villagers' life, the village, nature, and comprehended how all the little things in life worked all around him. the children were the only villagers that interacted with him as if he were a close friend, that was the only thing that made him feel just a little more like a person
by night, the village was attacked by dangerous mobs, and every night, the villagers' themselves fought off the beasts with great effort. these fights resulted in frequent injuries/casualties
deep within Aurelius, a newfound resolve stirred, ignited by witnessing the villagers' constant struggle against the relentless mobs. he could no longer stand idly by and stay as a lifeless art piece
as night crept up on the town once again, Aurelius had sat in the middle of the village as usual. he was mentally readying himself for a battle that he had little knowledge of
across the plains, zombies, skeletons, and dangerous mobs of all kinds headed towards the villagers from all directions. and the villagers were ready to fight once again
just as the villagers threw themself into battle, Aurelius did the same. with loud and heavy footsteps, Aurelius strode forward, his golden form gleaming in the moonlight. the villagers paused, stunned by the sight of their once-sculpture now joining their ranks
Aurelius wielded his golden arms with newfound strength. with each swing of his metallic arms, he shattered the bones of skeletons and sent zombies flying. his determination and newfound purpose fueled his every move
as Aurelius killed off the beasts with ease, he was left damaged. chipped, scratched, and his copper frame was bent out of shape. half of the villagers were ecstatic from their victory, and proud of their new warrior
however, the other half did not cheer, rather, a look of worry and shock was strewn across their faces. a lot were horrified and concerned as they observed the damage that had been done to Aurelius
a large array of questions and bickering was started amongst the villagers. some questioned the wisdom of risking Aurelius' fragile form in battle, fearing that further damage would render him useless. others expressed concern for his well-being, recognizing the toll that each fight took on his golden body
either way, the talking had ceased, and they called it a night, promising to talk in the morning.
Aurelius was displeased with the outcome, why hadn't the whole village recognized his worth and his desire to protect them? he questioned whether his sacrifice was in vain, whether his efforts to bridge the gap between himself and the villagers were futile
throughout the night, Aurelius stood in the center of the village, his damaged body reflecting the moonlight. he contemplated his purpose, his existence as both a work of art and a guardian.
as the sun rose, the villagers' gathered in the center of the village, their expressions a mix of concern and curiosity. the blacksmith, one of the villagers who had worked on Aurelius for many years, stepped forward. he told Aurelius that he was not to fight anymore, more fights would equal more damage, and more damage could destroy Aurelius' very being. gold and copper was difficult to obtain, and there wasnt enough supply to be able to repair him constantly
Aurelius understood damage would be done, looking at his broken frame now did not bother him, this is what he wanted to do. he expressed that he had found a purpose in protecting them, and that he was willing to face the risks and endure the damage that came with it. He emphasized that his worth went beyond his external appearance, and that his true value lay in his ability to safeguard their lives
despite his efforts, the village was still conflicted, Aurelius words had practically flown over most of their heads. the blacksmith had taken his words into consideration, but told Aurelius that he was not to fight no matter his reason until the village came up with a resolve
Aurelius was taken to be repaired, his damaged body carefully handled by the skilled hands of the blacksmith and other villagers. during the repairs, Aurelius was lost in thought. frustration and disappointment welled up within him, as he wondered why his words and actions had fallen on deaf ears. this is what he desired, why should his desires be judged by his own people? did his looks really matter that much?
from then on, Aurelius stood idly by once again, holding onto the blacksmiths promise. at night, he was kept a close eye on. bickering became more frequent in the village, it seemed as if Aurelius' situation would never be solved. he stands day and night, listening close, and waiting for an answer to his wishes

Villager and Illager Thoughts - headcanon
Thinking about the way society works with my silly little MC world...
Villagers probably have large sections of the world where they populate it, some villages are bigger than others and are very valuable trading places, but all villages are far enough away from each other that you'd have to use a horse or minecart to reach them, and even then, it might take a day or two.
I imagine theres wandering traders that group together in caravans, but nothing too big. maybe if you pay them a few emeralds they'll drop you off by a town in a few days. They're nomadic people, hardly ever staying for than a week, if that. They're always happy to see people, any new traveler is a customer and friend. Super friendly. Some can be sleazy, but they'll never give you items you can live without. Important fellows to those that live far away from any exotic places. They most likely know all or many languages, both spoken and written. It's better for business. I think to think they even raid temples at times!!! Maybe going though Jungle or Desert Temples just to leave things behind or take items,,
I think Illagers make plans of the best areas to build their strong beautiful mansions, and look for stable ground to build their outposts. I would think they have a way of communicating with those in the Mansion, maybe the ones that live there are more important or higher ranking. It seems like Evokers have a high status among other Illagers. Pillagers being the bottom of course. I also want to include more Illagers like those that were included in MCDungeons. They seem like so much fun, and different forms of magic usage seems logical. I mean Iceologers, Geomancers, and Wind Callers are all super interesting and really important to magic lore in the MC universe as a whole.
I do not consider Witches, Illagers (and neither does minecraft iirc) They all kinda just vibe and feel like they have their own lives. Not exactly violent, but curious and mischievous in ways that Villager culture clashes with. They all live on their own, but some make deals with Illagers or Villages. Their magic and potions in exchange for protection or resources. I imagine every village that contains a Cleric, knows of at least one Witch they can learn from, even if its gotta be in secret. I agree almost wholeheartedly with RetroGamingNow's interpretation of the Witch, I think its clear and makes a lot of sense, it's what i assumed for a very long time anyways. I feel like Witches are a fairly new source of magic in the world, compared to Illager and Villagers. This leads to them being seen as lesser than and never fitting in with either group. They rally in the ways of excitement, curiosity and overall, being true to one's self and never feeling sorry for being different. Witches are one of the most diverse groups, many of which are highly skilled and dangerous, but wouldn't hurt a fly without reason. Super happy group, some are hybrids or weren't even born Witches. My idea is there are Witches that are born as just that, and are brought up in the culture. The others are folks who practice witchcraft and chose to align themselves with the philosophy. (they refer to themselves as Witches if they'd like, its not required)
I touched on it a fair bit earlier, but, I had the idea that Villagers were also a being capable of magic. I like to think that the Iron Golems they spawn are from magic. villagers can create and build things when absolutely necessary or for their work, but they do not partake in magic since it is a lost art in their culture. However, the summoning of an Iron Golem unlocks a very deep connection with their world, allowing them to create life from (seemingly) nothing. (it actually does consume materials, it just takes those materials directly from the world from random places) A village will usually construct one themselves the physical way, but if under enough stress and fear, one can be summoned. Depending on the threat, it can be a permanent form, or just disappear after the Villager is safe. Illagers cannot do this, their connection with the Golem was cut as soon as they decided their fates. Iron Golems will only ever protect Villagers as Illagers are capable of protecting themselves. Although a Ravager is close to a Golem, I don't know how to fully implement them, as they must be fairly new to their technology.
Those are all my thoughts right now, things are subject to change. But yeah :0)

me and gaél (@erosindomita) have been playing so much minecraft and i need to chronicle the journey i've gone on
we migrated to a village near a cherry forest because we both find the cherry trees pretty and i wanted to be able to interact with the villagers. a few in-game days in a group of pillagers showed up and i, terrified, killed them, including the ringleader, which granted me the Bad Omen status effect. i did not know what this status effect does, and so i went into the village to make sure all the villagers were okay. a Raid began, and me and gaél had only started playing the night before, and we hadn't found a lot of diamonds to improve our equipment yet. we were killed repeatedly, and eventually we lost the raid. every single villager was killed.
i was genuinely crestfallen. gaél consoled me by gathering flowers to place around the village, and we made a shrine at the fountain at the center of town. "i think we've properly memorialized them," i said, and we moved on from our little funeral.
later on while exploring, we found a pillager outpost. while killing droves of pillagers, i decided this was righteous. we were avenging the villagers that were killed. in doing so, i got the Bad Omen status effect again.
Tumblr media
(note 1: this screenshot was taken later in our journey, not when the messages were initially sent.)
Tumblr media
(note 2: we hadn't figured out how to disable the profanity filter yet.)
Tumblr media
absolutely devastated by my own actions, i began digging straight down with the aim to fall in lava and die. gaél jumped in the hole with me.
Tumblr media
we reached the bottom without running into any lava at all.
Tumblr media
gaél then began strip mining at the bedrock layer.
Tumblr media
eventually i finally found lava and killed myself.
Tumblr media
that was yesterday, though.
today, we found the sole survivor. he was trapped on a cliff not far from the village. we rescued him and he started going about his business around the village once again. one villager a village does not make, though, and he'll probably stay alone for the rest of his life. honestly, having him around kinda makes me feel worse, but i've been doing my best to make him comfortable. i've been terraforming the village to make sure he won't get stuck again, and have been putting up lampposts to ensure fewer monsters spawn. i've been very careful about the Bad Omen status effect. there's an iron golem that had apparently been here the whole time, though we hadn't initially noticed, and he was no help at all with the pillagers. we've decided that the iron golem and the sole survivor are boyfriends. they both hate me for failing their village but they love each other and that's all that matters i guess. the journey is ongoing and i have no conclusion. thanks for reading

VILLAGER LANGUAGE
SOO i remember 1 guy from tiktok who transcribed villagers' speech in ipa like [ħœ̃] i extended this a bit and now the phonemes are [ħ], [χ˕], [p͡fˤ], [œ̃], [ə̃], [æ̃]
i also think that they would have a lot of tonemes like [˥], [˧], [˩], [˧˥], [˥˧], [˧˥˧], [˧˩˩], [˥˧˧] (it's ONE HUNDRED PERCENT tonal, i can't imagine villagers' language without tones)
i think that there's gonna be some basic root words like [ħə̃˥˧] for food, [ħæ̃˥] for trade, [ħə̃˧] for material, etc. and they'll combine them to make more specific words, for example product could be [ħæ̃˥ħə̃˧]
there could also be some prefixes like [ħə̃˥˧] for hard we add it to the word for product and get [ħə̃˥˧ħæ̃˥ħə̃˧] - emerald
it's kinda like chinese ig
