“Estoy súper feliz de estar aquí, porque son dos proyectos que llevó de manera muy profunda en el corazón, los felicito por esta cancha que están inaugurando”, externó Alejandra de la Vega.

The track, and their album, was produced by Grammy-winning producer Carlos de la Garza, the father of the band's guitarist and drummer Lucia and Mila. It's easy to hear the word if you listen instead of assuming he'll repeat himself.Offering a bit of meta commentary, the song starts off with the line, " Growing up isn’t something we can make happen when we want it to / But since we’re all growing up together I guess I’ll grow up / with you." Okay, so...if you haven't heard of them yet, The Linda Lindas are a group of four girls from Los Angeles, ranging in age from 11 to 17: Mila de la Garza (11), Eloise Wong (13), Lucia de la Garza (15), and Bela Salazar (17).

I am blown away by how this song effortlessly captures the essence of old school punk rock that was written and performed long before they were born. These future legends are signed on with Epitaph Records (a perfect fit) and have already opened for Bikini Kill.

That was in 2019, by the way. Imagine being Mila--8 years old at the time--and opening for the pioneers of the 90's "Riot Grrrl" punk subculture. I see a bright future ahead of these girls.

The Linda Lindas Segera Lesatkan Gebrakan Album Perdana ‘Growing Up’

Kuartet cilik yang tahun 2021 kemaren sempat viral dengan menyerukan isu sexisme dan rasisme disaat live perform di sebuah perpustakaan bertempat di sudut kota Los Angeles. Mereka adalah unit punk rock yang tergabung dalam The Linda Lindas yakni Bela Salazar (vokal, gitar), Eloise Wong (basis, vokal), Lucia de La Garza (gitar, vokal), dan Mila de La Garza (drum, vokal).

Efek dari nyali besar The Linda Lindas akhirnya dilirik oleh Epitaph Records yang kini sudah resmi menjadi record label mereka. Beberapa musisi ternama pun terkesima seperti Tom Morello (R.A.T.M) dan Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth) sempat membagikan video live The Linda Lindas di akun media sosialnya. T-shirt Bikini Kill yang dipakai oleh Mila juga menjadi perhatian penting saya ketika melihat live mereka, karena yang kita tahu Bikini Kill adalah band veteran punk rock yang dikenal sangat vokal dengan isu feminisme.

The Linda Lindas benar-benar nyata untuk melahirkan sebuah karya serius yang dimana pada 1 Februari 2022 lalu telah melesatkan single baru bertajuk “Growing Up”. Rilisnya single tersebut sekaligus mengkonfirmasi akan debut album The Lindas Lindas yang siap dilepas pada 8 April mendatang. Energi jiwa muda riot girl dan penuh ambisi semakin terlihat kuat dalam rilisan ini. Semoga kobaran semangat The Linda Lindas tetap menyala untuk terus konsisten di jalurnya. Salut!
