Guess who completely forgot Tumblr was a thing 🎉🎉 Good news is that I have a bunch of stuff to post yay.

So I recently thought it would be a fun idea to create fandom OC’s as it was a while and I miss not having to rewrite a whole ass world building, and decided to start with Chainsaw Man OC’s bc it’s my fav series ever after all.

And I might have gotten a little too invested and made to many OC’s (there are more I need to design) all with complex personalities and backstories 😭 I’m still hyper fixated on these guys and will totally add them all to my ArtFight page.

Anyway they’re names in order: Cameron (previous human, now the Bear Trap Hybrid), Yelena and Krov (human and the Armor Devil, they are in a contract), Manuel (Beast Fiend) and Coco (Plush Devil). They’re all Devil Hunters and are part of the same Division (they’re basically co-workers) called Special Division 9, a division that mixes humans with Devils and Fiends.

For more infos about all of them you can check my ToyHouse account ! I finished writing all their bios (tho I need to do a few minor edits). And there aren’t many Major spoilers for the CSM manga (aside from World building spoilers).

ough I joined artfight on an impulse for the first time this year thinking "oh maybe I will be super casual about this, try to be very low key". I don't really have any art friends, my art on tumblr gets like maximum 15 notes if it's fan art, I didn't tell anyone I was joining, I wrote in my bio that I probably won't have a lot of time to do revenge art pieces, but it's been less than 2 days and I already have gotten way more art pieces than I can possibly revenge how did people even find me?? I haven't even figured out how to look for characters to draw yet. NOT complaining I'm just so surprised I thought I'd get like maybe 2 drawings by the end of the month

it's probably because I don't have OCs so I just uploaded all the pieces I did for a 30 day character design challenge a few years ago lmao. I've noticed that people with fewer characters don't seem to get as much art. I feel bad though for the people I see with one or two characters that they love so much getting nothing

also I'm trying to keep my revenges simple but my sketches always look so ugly so I always end up doing the clean line art, and once I have the line art it's so simple to just use the paint bucket to colour it in so might as well do that, and once it's coloured I might as well add fancy lighting effects and interesting shapes in the background because that's my favourite part and then oops I spent way too many hours on this

^all these guys are from a webcomic I’ve been tinkering w/ since I was 12 that I might even make some day! Basically an alternate world is leaking into an already strange “normal” world, and Clove+Madiline work together to try to figure out why while dealing w/ a whole bunch of ghouls and horrors and such.

Madiline’s emotional, brash, and stubborn. Happy to use her fists to get her way

Clove typically presents as reserved around most people, she’s quick-witted and good w/ remembering information. Has a bad habit of overworking herself when she has a goal in mind

Blossom’s a smart, calm, collected teenage girl w/ a wild streak. She’ll generally be more rational then clove or especially madiline, but she’s not one to shy away from sticking her nose where other people don’t want it

Crow’s the rational, responsible one of the group, often fretting anxiously about how (admittedly stupid) his friends antics are. His anxiety often manifests in being loud (sometimes manifesting in full+blown anger), often frustrated by his tone+word choices not really conveying exactly what he means

Opal’s loud+proud, a fun, dramatic theater kid to her core. she can shapeshift into an opalescent dragon (not designed) at will! She has some mobility+joint pain issues, so she’ll sometimes use a wheelchair (usually bad days, sometimes good days where she has a lot going on).

Madiline+clove are a couple and opal+blossom are together!

These two (Roxanna and Nash) are a duo in a short film I might get around to actually making one day!

Roxanna’s a broad-shouldered, cold, distant kind of woman. She scrapes by, but doesn’t really enjoy her life.

Nash is a teen menace, often fucking w/ whoever crosses it’s path.

The two of them find themselves meeting after a zombie apocalypse , and work together to survive.

Also here’s some furries also <3 (I have a more furries on my page but those were designed by other people an AF’s too slow to really track that info down)

It me 💥👆(technically hair’s inaccurate, it’s grown out so I sweep it back usually, feel free to draw it whatever style tho it hair :3)

Okay so!! As of right now the site is down so I can't provide screenshots and I'm going off of memory so please bear with me. Also I don't know what you need help with specifically so I'm just gonna go over the basics and if you have any other questions feel free to ask :))

Just to make sure everyone is on the same page, art fight is a yearly event where you upload your own characters and are assigned a team. You attack people to gain points for your team, and attacking people is basically just drawing their oc.

And just a heads up, while I'm not too sure this will happen this year, almost every year so many new people join art fight and try to upload their attacks on the 1st of July the sites server's get overwhelmed and site goes down alot. It happens. I recommend saving a few refs before the games begin and draw them after July 1st (you aren't allowed to draw anyone's characters before the 1st, keeps things fair). Like I said, it happens. Sometimes the site is only down off and on during the first few days and is fine the rest of the month, sometimes it's down so long they add an extra week to the games. It really just depends lol. Like I said save refs now so you can actually start on the 1st.

You can have up to 100 active characters and as far as I know there isn't a limit to how many characters you can attack. Your artistic media doesn't matter, you can be a traditional artist and still participate, you can be a digital artist and still participate, hell you can be exclusively building physical sculptures of folk's characters and you're still allowed to participate.

You can find other users to attack a variety of ways, ranging from searching through tags or through spamming the random character button until you find one you like, you can also just ask around here on Tumblr and see if anyone is participating this year:))

Not everyone has a little card like this but here's mine! It has my username and my favorite/featured characters on it. Again you do not need to have one of these but if you want to find people on artfight you might wanna be on the lookout for cards like these.

As for uploading your characters, I'm gonna use my boy Smudge as an example.

You can only upload 7 pictures per character. Usually folks don't need many more than 3. I recommend having a full body ref

As nice as this drawing is, if anyone wants to draw him they need to see more.

Something like this is alot better, it shows what he looks like without his costume and again gives the potential attacker a better idea of who they're drawing.

You have the option to upload a description of your oc, alot of folks tend to leave it blank and honestly I don't recommend doing that. You don't need to put your OC's full 129 page google doc backstory in there but you should at least give a basic description of their personality and any important information (it might also be a good idea to put their pronouns, I have on multiple occasions accidentally misgendered a few characters because their pronouns weren't in their description)

Permissions are different than a description. Permissions basically means what you are and aren't okay with. For Smudge here I prefer if he keeps his costume. You generally don't have to specify to not draw gore of a character as I've only gotten gore of a character once since like 2017 (and I put that I would love to see some gore in their character permissions).

Uploading attacks is pretty simple. Like I said before you can attack others regardless of how you make your art. Traditional art tends to get less points than digital art. You get more points depending on what you do (ex. A digital headshot sketch would get less points than a fully lined fully colored and shaded traditional drawing, a colored simple animation gets more points than digital line art, ECT). Obviously don't lie about what you're making to get more points. From what I've seen other folks don't tend to lie so don't be a dick lol. And even if some does lie about what they did, I believe you can flag art and report it. Plus a week after art fight is over a bunch of mods go through the art and make sure everything has been properly marked (if you think you marked something wrong though don't worry!! You aren't gonna get in trouble or anything, worse case scenario you'll just lose a few points for your team).

What I know: there’s two teams based on a theme announced by ArtFight. This year’s is Bloom vs Wither.

Your team gains points when you “attack” by drawing an OC from the other team. The more effort a piece has, the more points you can earn for your team. Some of the highest-earning pieces in the past have been the few folks who drew literally hundreds of OCs in one big piece. But the attacks aren’t limited to illustration, you could sculpt, stitch, animate, etc!

For the profile setup a turn around sheet of your OCs is really helpful, or just a full front body. I’d pretend you’re about to commission someone, but abbreviated. IE: a ref sheet, and maybe some quick facts about your OCs (personality, likes/dislikes). That’ll help the artists who might want to draw your characters interacting with others.

And that’s pretty much the gist of it coming from an observer! It’s only for July, so there’s still time to sign up I believe. Ultimately it’s about having fun with the online art community and sharing some OC love!

forgot to mention here a while ago i finally have a toyhouse account -- it’s mostly my dnd/pathfinder characters tho i have put a few fr boys up there and might add more later. still need to actually write INFO about characters besides basic stats but its nice to have somewhere to keep things organized!

i’ve also made an artfight this year (i need to add more characters but again, its mostly going to be dnd/pf stuff with maybe a few fr gijinkas) tho idk exactly how active i’ll be able to be when it actually starts... still i’ll try n follow ppl back + attack back when i can <3

Day 106 (Friday June 26)

I woke up early enough to hear the weekly 11am tornado siren test! So that was kinda cool. I wrote down the dream/nightmare I had about magical girls and markiplier and webkinz and the cops. I went outside with my cat for a while, and there was a squirrel in the big tree in the corner of my backyard making noises at me. I recorded it on my phone and played back the chirps because I thought it was funny and it make the squirrel make more chirping noises. I got a couple good pictures of my cat being cute.

I tried brushing her a few times, and at first she was cooperative, but then she kept squirming away from me. We went inside for a bit, then back outside until someone started mowing their lawn. I don’t remember most of the day, but I spent some time writing descriptions and submitting characters for artfight. I did the dishes and my dad brought home pizza. We decided to get some night driving time in, and I drove us to the grocery store without a hitch >:) I’m really proud of my driving skills 🥰 we shopped for a while and I kept seeing a trio of yeeyee boys that went to my school. BUT I ALSO SAW A GIRL WITH GREEN HAIR WHILE WE WERE WALKING IN AND SHE WAS REALLY PRETTY :D anyway we did our shopping and I also got to drive us home. (Btw this is a reminder to myself tomorrow to add 30 minutes of night driving on the sheet) I helped put away groceries and ate some Neapolitan ice cream. I installed Pokémon smile because I’m bad at remembering to brush my teeth regularly (I know it’s gross but I never learned that habit as a kid and I’m trying my best) because I was board and sue me, it’s cute. It wasn’t picking up my brushing at first because I was too far away from the camera, but I didn’t know that, so I brushed for like and extra minute. And by the end the game DARES to not give me a good enough score to catch a Pokémon >:((( lol. I spent a lot of time overhauling my rules for characters on artfight and submitting a couple new characters. One of them is me, but I might switch myself out for another dnd oc of mine. I just have to learn to draw her constantly 😞 I don’t know how the fuck to draw her nose, so I might just give her a triangle animal crossing muppet nose idk. Anyway I stayed up way too late and it’s almost 5 am and I’m H U N G R Y goodnight ⭐️🌙💤

ABT MY OCS

so my ocs are sorted into a few distinct universes!! one’s a story/world i started building back in mid february 2021, 3 are sorta plotless worlds where they just vibe, and one’s just my fursona and their setting!!

first we got forest whispers- thats the story one! it has several story arcs, each with its own fairly distinct cast of characters! its overall list of characters is real long: we got carlos, katriya, carmen, bailey, felicity, darius, isabeau, nikolai/the necromancer of the oleander, ivanka, alyx, odin, delaney, anastasiya, klara, montgomery, vladimir, luis, victor, lyudmila, phoenix, tyr, moira, sascha, and olga!! when i post art of these characters, it’ll be tagged forest whispers!!

next we got deadnettle- this refers to an apartment complex commune of people who all know each other!! this character list is shorter: we got commie, october, julian, raddie, cece, rosie, viper, ramona, cardinal, natasha, demetrius, caduceus, tyler, [???], denver, titan, and donovan!! they all live in the apartment complex called deadnettle together, they just vibe!! any posts including these characters will be tagged deadnettle!!

next up we got what i like to call the cynthematic universe- it includes my character cynth, and anyone who exists in their universe!! this includes present day them, their 14 year old self, their 18 year old self, their family, and their childhood friends!! any posts of these ocs will be tagged CyU, standing for Cynthematic Universe, obviously

This is a really big one, I'm sorry if its a lot of text.

I have a really weird trauma trigger, i feel uncomfortable explaining it since it might out me, and I only actively talk to my friends about it.

My main characters are very personal, and one specific permission on the designs that I have several notes on everywhere, the refsheets, closeups, in character permissions and global rules, keeps being ignored. And it tends to give me real bad anxiety that people don't read it.

Due past experiences I feel uncomfortable asking for edits and fixes now.

Idk, its just sad. I can't look at the art made for me because it now triggers my trauma related anxiety, and I don't have the courage to be honest anymore and ask for edits, I don't want people to feel like they wasted their time cuz now they have..

It happens esp with babyartists, but sometimes more experienced people too.

Clarify: a bunch of my ocs share a "specific design detail" which is pointed out on my refsheets, illustrated clearly, pointed out in global permissions and character permissions for good measure to make sure people dont ignore it. People end up drawing them looking wildly different, ignoring the several notes.

People, when you look at detailed designs and big refsheets the text is there for a reason.. pls read then. They're important. It matters to me. A lot.

Its not just frustrating that it just doesn't look like my oc anymore, its ends up looking rushed, muscle memory can't do everything... I don't need this stress over gift art. I want to genuingly be grateful that they spent time on my oc. I want to be honest. I'm too scared.

Everytime I asked politely I just got excuses "thats how I draw" or "thats my art style" but I could literally change a few lines and its still the same style but suddenly it actually looks like my character.. sigh. Is it that hard to swallow pride and not get mad at me for asking? People are scary. I dont want to edit your art. :( so I don't use it for my oc.

Also to add: not everyone draws the specific details wrong, it just happens very often despite my triple double notes on "don't do that." I don't revenge people who repeat the mistake.

Should I block them after the season ends..?

I need some advice. Should I swallow and just keep asking for edits and risk more stress, or just plainly thank them and just not interact further like I have been doing?

...I'm sorry. I've been doing artfight for a few years.. I over prepare as precaution.. it happens. Every year. It eats a large portion of the fun for me.
