Main relationship: Tenshouin Eichi/Kagehira Mika

Other relationships (spoilery): temporary MidoMika, temporary MikaNaru, ShuMika, heavy past EiTori angst, with a dash of KogaNaru, and an implied hint of Tatsuei, past ShuNazu, and RinHii.

Short synopsis: Mika's family dies, he's adopted by Eichi, but Eichi uses him for an experiment in a rather vaguely early-mid 20th century setting in an alternate world. Mika is 7yrs old in the beginning, and 14 at the end. Eichi is 22, and 29 at the end.

I began posting this in 2021 and completed the main story in 2022. Be sure to read the ao3 tags, there's a lot of heavy topics throughout all these 300k words.

The longest fic on my ao3 belongs to this, it takes up 300k words of my 490k total word count, and took about a year to write. 1 year, 1 month, and 10 days specifically according to my time statistics. It took a lot to write and I have to say I became insanely attached.

Sometimes I still regret not finishing the first draft before editing and posting the first few chapters, because I feel the plot becomes a bit confusing by the end parts with untied loose ends, but in the end it's still just a fanfic so it's not that big a deal, no matter how much I love it. Either way, I am extremely glad to have written and finished it, and even more happy for the readers who also enjoyed reading what I wrote.

Also it was very difficult for me to resist posting the first part on Christmas Day 2021 because Christmas and winter are important themes in this fic. Especially winter, that's 'Eichi's season'. Midori's is summer, Tori's is spring, and Arashi's is autumn. There's a meaning behind assigning those four characters a season, you can figure it out yourself or demand an answer from me and I'll respond with a few paragraphs.

Those graphics included in the post? They don't fit the angsty tone of the fic to some people, but to me it is a perfect fit in ways I have no idea how to explain.

Though I feel like I could write a thousand words and more about this fic I will stop here. I'll definitely want to make similar posts for my other two longfics if I have the time and energy, and shorter posts for shorter fics if I want to post them here, too.

okay, what if at the school festival or w/e, midori’s looking around at the club booths bc it beats being dragged around by taichou n that’s when he notices the handicrafts club n a bunch of girls n guys from the normal course are “ooo”ing and “aaa”ing over shu’s intricate clothes bc they’ve heard so much abt him, n tsumugi’s also being praised for some of his scarves n pillows n embroidery n stuff but mika’s kinda shadowed bc his plushs n meager things arent as “cool” but midori sees mika’s plushs n immediately thinks of them as he does w mascot things n bounds up to them w his sparkle eyes (u kno the ones) n he’s like “uwaa these look so cute! they’re soo odd-looking that u just can’t help but like them! [looks up at mika] what are they?” n mika’s just so stunned bc What also bc, isnt this that one depressed first year he’s seen around before? he’s this excited over smth mika made? but it makes him surprisingly a bit happy n he’s just like “aa.. i like plushs, see, so i tried ta make some a my own, n patch some up bc creepy-cute things are nice, y’know?” n he’s just kinda blushy bc wow this first year guy is pretty, n he looks so happy bc of smth mika did...

what if Midori and mika meet bc he walks outside his store to try n feed the stray cat that frequents the area near the shop n he finds mika playing w the cat right outside his door n a bit to the left n mikas startled by Midori approaching him n he tilts his head for a sec then goes "nnah, is this yer cat?? 'm sry! he jus' looked rly soft n cute so I-" but as mikas just looking up at midori, Midori just thinks that mika resembles the cat so much what w the lil head tilt n the heterochromatic eyes n the lil fang n scruffy hair n he's just like "..........cute"

Bonus: he's like "a-ah, that's not my cat, no, ur fine..." n mikas so relieved he's not bothering Midori n they both feed the cat some peas !

they both get kinda overwhelmed by the fair crowds so they hold hands or mayb go off to the side to just ppl watch n lovingly eat their fair sweetz n pet their plushs (for both ships)

ferris! wheel!! shinobuz kinda scared but midori letz shinobu snuggle into his chest. (this also goes for mika too! hez more embarrassed tho). midori starez into mikaz eyes at the top before being a Coward n averting his eyez (OR he kisses mika....... which is rly cute)
