After the events of City Fall, the Turtles exile to Northampton to heal, but they are followed by Alopex who is also escaping the foot. Meanwhile, April reunites with her parents and learns her father knew something was off about Stockgen.

SCORE: 8
Most iterations of TMNT have a “farm” phase. All inspired by the original period in the mirage comics. In fact, the Turtles stayed in the farm for so long, you could say it was their status quo in the late eighties.
It is a good thing it only lasted four episodes for IDW, as, while there is always something for the Turtles to do, it doesn’t look good on them to be on hiding for so long.
Even curios-er is how Donnie is starting to accept all the “supernatural” elements around him.
The whole story is meant to be a transition for Leo to come back to his regular self, and he kind of snaps back into it by the end of it. There are a few fortunate coincidences in the whole story that I feel brings it down a little bit.
Sophie Campbell does very cute turtles, which is fine by me. I really like her Alopex, over any other artist rendition of her. The turtles legs though... do not need to be so cute. what should look like a very menacing accessories on Leo, end up looking like sexy lingerie here.
Spoilers after the break...

One thing I respect from this version of the Turtles, is how female mutants are more “animalistic” in the way their gender is displayed. Which, of course, could feel confusing at times. Like with Koya. It’s a female bird... but you have to read the dialogue to find out about that. Now, if you compare with previous female mutants of all iterations... Mona lisa, Venus, Ninjara... they have female human characteristics that do not look so good in animals. You can always say their are mutants and part of that mutation is with humans... but still... I find it somehow more believable when animals keep their organs working and chemistry as before, especially the ones that were originally non-human animals (splinter, alopex, old hob).
April’s parents relation to Stockgen kind of sheds more light into how April got the job, more than adding backstory for the ooze. This story is meant to be read with Utrom Empire... so I will probably have more opinions about that after reading that.
Also, there is a tie-in with “X-Files: Conspiracy” that I may be reviewing soon.
