ah! ty!! (i've been feeling wonky all day so took me a bit to answer. but, since more people are showing interest, i might as well infodump a bit right?)

the whole pantheon i've been working on is my most recent passion project. to start each deity, i try to match a natural domain (ie plants, weather, seasons) to a societal domain (ie war, history, crafting) by figuring out which from each category symbolically match best

so, [placeholder] is the goddess of communication, spiders/webs, and fungi! i really liked the idea of matching the interconnected vibes of spiderwebs with the mycelium networks that mushrooms have for forests to communicate!

but then, because spiders and webs and fungi are considered scary/gross to wider society, and because deities like keeping their secrets, [placeholder] is one of the most frequently Othered of all the deities. the whole "ew gross get it away" thing ties in pretty well with the queercoding i'd say

she's also in a relationship with the goddess of stars and written history :]

also i say [placeholder] because a friend is currently making me a mini conlang to name all the deities! which im very very very excited about!!! (nadja i think you follow me on here so if you're reading this hi!)

Top five books!!

This is truly so hard and I’m bad at ranking books so it’s slightly gonna be my top 5 recent books.

1. The Abandoned Realm by Brittany Hansen (read this book. I met Brittany at a con and she was so nice and cool. This book is for real so good and I finished it in a day. It was independently published. It has inkheart vibes. Please read it)

2. I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jeanette McCurdy (holy shit this book rules and ruined me.)

3. So Here's the Thing . . .: Notes on Growing Up, Getting Older, and Trusting Your Gut by Alyssa Mastromonaco (this is a fun like advice book that’s also about making lists and how those can help you. The writing style is something I really vibed with)

4. The Hero and the Crown by Robin McKinley (dope fantasy that slowly adds magic that one of my first tumblr mutuals recommended to me when we first followed each other. It took me 7 actual years to read it. And it was excellent. It is about a horse girl though. I was not warned about that at first.)

5. Catch and Kill by Ronan Farrow (terrifying book. Incredibly interesting storytelling. I bought and read it the day it came out and I’ve reread it a couple times.)

22. Share an excerpt from your favorite scene.

“Hey, it’s just one Hell now. I hear some nerds named it The Ruby Dawn. And you’ve got a few more days to be stuck with me, at least.” / They both laughed at that, allowing the sense of relief that came from one of his jokes to envelope them completely. Some solace from what the days to come would hold. / There was a period of silence once more as they both separately wondered if this would be the last time the two of them were alone together. Brushing the thought away, Jolene spoke up once more. / “I don’t say it enough, but I really do like having you around.” / “I know, Jolene.” He smiled at her, and she offered a small smile back. “I have truly loved having you as my best friend. And it has been an honor to have you as MeeMaw.” / “Oh, enough of that.” / “I love you, Jolene.” / “I love you, too, Cheswick.” (Burdens of Best Friends)

This feels cheap because it is basically one scene but I’m weirdly proud of my dumbass joke I put at the end of this. Plus the fic is newer so I’m proud of it. This is one of my favorite scenes I’ve ever written because I feel like Cobb and Jolene in naddpod have such an untapped but deeply profound relationship and I needed to explore that.

30. What’s something you want to write in 2024?

I’m gonna list a coupe of things and then I’ll see this a year from now and likely have not followed through on any of it. I want to tap into the 200 years we don’t know about in Bahumia and possibly explore Hardwon and Moonshine during that time. I think I want to write something figayda and but maybe as a thing where Ayda and Zelda are hanging out a lot and the figayda is secondary to that. I have a couple of eldermourne ideas, and I want to finally commit to at least one, but hopefully it will be to add some Billie/Krissy/Johnny fics to the fold because the last time I checked there aren’t any.
