I really want to know who was the dumbass at Mattel who decided “Mermaid” was a better last name for Meeshell than “L’mer”

Like, they need their naming privileges revoked forever. 

My strange obsession over Ever After High has gotten me into strange territory with headcanons...

...first, it was Madeline Hatter, then it was random lgbtq+ headcanons of certain characters, then solidarity/shipping icons, then Cerise Hood, then the entire Hood-Badwolf family, then Cerise being a lesbian, then Cerise being a canonically intersex character, then a mlm/wlw solidarity between Hopper Croakington and C. A. Cupid, and then a pirate princess AU with Darling Charming and Meeshell L'Mer-Mermaid as girlfriends... ...now it's Apple White as a pokemon ttainer and now I have gone down a rabbithole that I don't regret going into

The origin of the story has very little baring on what nationality or race the characters are. Most of the stories in the line so far are French, German, or British but almost none of the characters are clearly from one of those countries. Meeshell L’Mer is clearly a French sounding name, though it may be changed to Meeshell Mermaid (I hope not) so I thought making her be from French Polynesia would be fun. If they wanted to go with a Dutch influence, my Caribbean idea would still work though since the Dutch definitely had/have a presence in that area. Basically I just want Meeshell to be from a tropical island country and not be another white girl mermaid. Though realistically I think the chances of her being POC probably aren’t very good.

Also as cecietcette just pointed out the story is Danish not Dutch anyway. I knew that, but it totally slipped my mind before posting.
