i have very mixed feelings on mako mermaids but zac and evie AND sirena and david are absolutely adorable

#forced heterosexuality and wooden acting aside? better than some of the h2o canon ships #the only other good ships i can recall off the top of my head are: lyla and nixie. ondina and mimmi. mimmi and weilan #oh cam and carly are also cute if a little obvious #what was with the writers baiting lyla and zac all of season one only to make zevie (?) endgame with 0 explanation?#perhaps we would have gotten a forced het love triangle if lyla's actor stuck around longer than season one. they do love tired love #triangles and pointless female rivalries in the makoverse in general #makoverse? h2overse? help a girl out #but yeah if anyone can comment on the zevie vs zac x lyla fiasco sound off in the replies or reblogs #me: i don't want to re-watch mako mermaids #me: i'm going to re-watch mako mermaids #mako mermaids #.txt

so admittedly i have a LOT of projects going on but I'm so pumped about writing mer!peter! idk where to start though! I want to do the trope justice! Can you, oh queen of all things mer, share any of your favorite headcanons/concepts/general ideas or opinions about merfolk and mer!Peter? :D ilysm btw -kaleb

ooo ho ho ho hoooo

obviously my Mer!Peter started human and became a mer by magic on accident but there are SO many options that it was hard to nail down the story beyond that- i am DYINg to see what you will end up with because you’re an amazing writer and i’m just so happy you want to do this ;-;

Other possibilities:

-COmPLETE au where Tony is a captain of a pirate ship and it’s a world where things like dragons and wizards and mermaids exist, so merPeter has the same story as canon Peter (raised by mer! May and Ben) but he becomes friends with Tony either privately or with the whole crew. If it’s privately, maybe he’s keeping Peter secret because he worries about his crew making fun of his softness or else taking advantage of Peter. They could hang out at night when Tony is on watch and Peter just swims by the ship and they talk. Perhaps that’s how they met and they just kept up the tradition and slowly became important to each other. OR- maybe the crew is the Avengers and they are a sort-of vigilante-type boat that travels around helping people and Peter joins their ranks from the ocean by scouting or spying for them.

-AU with Mer!Peter as a natural born mer (still raised by mer! May and Ben), but the world is modern day New York. Set the scene with Tony living at his Malibu place, like before the Avengers so he’s pretty rough around the edges still. And sort of a similar set-up: he lives by the ocean so meets Peter either just on the beach (maybe Peter washes up, hurt?) or out boating (maybe Tony has an accident and Peter pulls him to shore?). With this timing Peter is a smol bean, around 11 or 12, right? So they get to know each other over a few years with secret visits (Peter isn’t supposed to talk to humans). Maybe one day Peter just stops showing up and Tony gets concerned about it, then sees on the news that a mermaid has been discovered and it’s his little friend (oh no!!)

-I threw a line in about this option last chapter as a sort of joke but consider: the MCU as it is... except Peter IS bitten by a radioactive FISH. (Don’t ask me how that happens lol. maybe Oscorp dumps failed projects as ocean pollution or something). It would be especially precious in this if Peter were afraid of water and swimming beforehand, tries it with his friends ONE time on a group outing to the beach and gets bitten by something... then gets sick and wakes up with the ability to turn into a merperson. Involuntarily, every time he is splashed with water. The way he meets Tony (since I doubt the Avengers need a mermaid recruit... let’s just say it) could be that he is an actual intern who’s developed a fond relationship with the boss himself except that Tony notices Peter’s behavior change and wonders about it. And then his wondering is answered when Peter is helping with something involving water, gets splashed, panics, then morphs into a merman before his eyes.

-AU where both of them are mers? Oh! Oh! It could be this: Tony, in his rough-around-the-edges stage, is drunk driving and accidentally swerves off a cliff into the ocean, at which point he becomes a merman (similar origin to my Mer!Peter). When he wakes up, he panics obviously and has no idea how to use his tail but sees a little natural-born mer watching him (Peter) and this kid tries to help, but Tony is rude and kind of an a-hole at first because he’s in mourning of his life that has changed all of a sudden to something he didn’t ask for. Yo.........I’m imagining like a “Brother Bear” situation here. This could go places.

-Au where both of them are NATURAL born mers- not sure where to go with that. People will hate me but... Perhaps May dies (sorry) and Tony takes guardianship over Peter while they are mers but Peter is depressed by all his loss so Tony decides to take them and start a new life on land with a mermaid power that neither of them have used before where they can grow legs when dry (fine, it’s a Mako Mermaids au, ok, sue me). And the story is set some time after they are integrated and trying to live their half mer-half human lives.

-Or the same set up as above (both natural born mers) and it’s like the whole mcu set underwater with no mention of the surface (enhanced characters being enhanced mers). But eh, i don’t see the fun in that tbh. make the fins a FOCUS i say. Unless you’re doing a one-shot and have a specific scene in mind that would be interesting re-done with the filter of this AU, such as the Tony-recruiting-Peter scene.

....So there are some ideas that have floated through my brain at some point but I’m sure there are more I can’t remember and more to come because i love this OBVIOUSLY. As for other concepts, I just love Peter having a mer!form that mirrors his spider suit colors. I love the idea of him trying to live as a half-mer and Tony worrying that he’ll be exposed at any time. I love merpeople in pretty much every single sense- pretty or scary, scarce or civilized, known or myths. The whole concept of them is a canvas for your imagination. And you weren’t asking but I love the possibilities of PeterMJ with a mer!Peter filter.

Hi Nina! I've been wondering for a while, but you've mentioned a couple of times that there are upwards of 200 magical girl intellectual properties you've consumed and I was wondering what they were. I'm also quite curious as to what your to watch list has on it. If this is too much of a hassle, I completely understand. I THINK that’s everything I may be missing some.

I didn’t include if I read the manga AND saw the anime- like with Sailor Moon, Sugar Sugar Rune, etc. I also didn’t include any of the Precure movies because I don’t know I feel like that’s overkill??? I also started reading the Magical Girl Raising Project Light Novels so those would be shoved in there too I guess.

A lot of these series are missing from MyAnimeList list because I intend to re-watch them and it’s a good way to keep track of things I haven’t re-watched recently. (now if only I remembered to update what episodes of things I’m currently watching lmao)

Even with all of this there are still so many series I have to see!! I can’t wait *u*
