Please would you write a part two to my girls?
where Ellie calls maya mama for the first time in front of the united girls. They keep making her repeat it thinking she’s just mumbling and maya walks in.
Love the fics <3
my girls [ part 2 ] - maya le tissier
maya le tissier x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
description: in which ellie calls maya ‘mama’ for the first time, everyone is extremely emotional
warnings: fluff, fluff, fluff i feel sick, does the time frame make sense? no not really but who cares
a/n: omg! first time writing a part two! hope you enjoy! ❤️ i’ve literally never written something so fast! also thank you for the love, baby!!
read part 1 first!!!
⋆ ★ ⋆ ★ ⋆ ★ ⋆ ★ ⋆
you and your girlfriend, maya are still very much infatuated with each other. you’d been dating for a little over 6 years and it had been nothing but genuine.
the mutual respect and love for each other was obvious to anyone, you two were very much in love and you couldn’t be happier.
and something maya loved additionally to everything about you is that you came with a bonus, a mini you in the form of ellie to share that love with.
ellie brought the two of you together even more, maya seeing ellie as her own daughter and ellie very much being obsessed with maya.
it wasn’t uncommon that the two of them would team up as partners in crime against you but you didn’t complain, their little giggles and cheesy grins warmed your heart more than anything.
maya had gone to the market in the morning with ellie, taking her secretly but making sure to leave you a note that she had her.
it was a warm day in manchester, the sun beaming down on the two girls as they treaded through the market, giggling and chatting as they went through all the stores.
and because it’s maya and ellie is ellie, everything ellie liked or thought was cute, maya got it without a question. you’d be sure to scold maya when they both got home but she couldn’t help it.
the way ellie was so grateful and actually chose things that she wanted made maya think it was a no brainer.
ellie would always make sure to thank maya with a hug and a kiss to the cheek and it would make her melt every time her little voice said, “thank you, may may”.
maya made sure to not forget about you, her other favourite girl. she picked out a bouquet of your favourite flowers and a few foods that were only available at this specific market.
ellie teased maya about the flowers and maya truly could see you shining through the little girl. “you love mummy” ellie giggles, holding onto maya’s hand.
“mhm, i do love mummy” maya smiles bashfully, “and i love you as well” maya grins at her, ellie turns shy suddenly, her hand twitching in maya’s before tightening her hold.
“i love you too” ellie says softly. maya smiles brightly, adding another small bouquet and giving it to ellie which she excitedly accepted.
when they both made it home, you’d been doing some reset jobs in the house when you heard the excited chatter and giggles from the door.
“elle belle, take this to mummy for me” maya whispers, taking ellie’s flowers and replacing them with your bouquet. ellie nods determinedly, padding over to the kitchen as you were wiping down the island.
“mummy!” ellie exclaims excitedly, placing her little hand on your thigh to make you look down at her. “my baby!” you smile, lifting her up to sit on the counter, “what pretty flowers” you grin, your eyes making their way to maya, she was leaning against the door frame while watching you with a shy smile.
“may may bought them for you” ellie teases, you laugh brightly, kissing the small girl on her cheek repeatedly and making her squeal.
“is that right?” you tickle her sides, ellie nods, “she bought me flowers too” ellie gives you a toothy grin, your eyes look up at maya again, your smile never leaving your face, your heart was soaring at the gesture.
“mummy, go thank may may” ellie scolds, you and maya both laugh, maya walks further into the kitchen to where you both were, her hand making its way to the small of your back.
“thank you, baby” you smile, giving her a sweet kiss, maya leans into you, pecking your lips a couple of times before handing you the food from the markets.
you gasp excitedly, kissing maya’s cheek before she stands behind you, her arms wrapping around your waist as her head rests on your shoulder.
ellie smiles at the both of you, she loved seeing you both so happy. “i’m going to play now,” ellie exclaims, you help her get off the counter and she runs away to put the flowers in her room.
you turn in maya’s hold, “you’re so sweet, I love you” you cheese out, maya pulls you into another kiss, your mouths moving together sweetly.
you hum against her and she smirks into the kiss, “i love you” maya pecks, ushering you to eat the foods she bought that you promptly shared with her, many little kisses shared between the two of you.
you still work as a physio for manchester united, you and maya grateful for the extra time you have together. ellie was now 5 years old and it had both you and maya in disbelief at how fast she was growing. and with the rapid age increase, came the time you were dreading. school.
you couldn’t help but cry some nights to maya about your little girl going to school.
“she’s growing too quickly, she was in my belly not that long ago” you sniffle, maya kisses your forehead tenderly, your legs over her thighs as you both sat on the couch, ellie sleeping in her bedroom, her first day of kindergarten was the next day.
“oh, baby,” maya coos, her hand caressing your side as you leant against her shoulder. “it’s exciting though, my love, she’s going to learn and make friends” maya says adoringly, kissing the top of your head as you sniffle against her.
“i’m so proud of her, but she needs to stop growing” you demand, maya giggles, “i’ll tell her to stop growing” you let out a wet laugh, grabbing maya’s hand with a gentle squeeze.
“good” you smile, looking up at her with a gentle grin, she smiles back at you, kissing your tears away, kissing the tip of your nose and finally landing on your lips.
“it’s okay, you’re okay, we’re okay” maya assured softly, kissing your lips once more as you nod. “we’re okay” you breathe out, pulling maya into a tight hug.
the next day, ellie woke up early and ran to you and maya’s bedroom. “wake up!” ellie squealed, jumping on the bed as both of you groan, you hide your face in maya’s neck.
“baby, it’s too early” you whine, ellie moves to sit on maya’s waist, “mummy is so grumpy in the morning” ellie huffs, maya lets out a little laugh, pulling ellie into a little hug when the girl flops on top of her.
“my big girl is going to school” maya grins, suddenly you gasp and sit up, grabbing ellie and tickling her while kissing all over her face.
ellie squeals in delight, “mummy, no!” ellie laughs brightly, “no!” you laugh, maya joins in, making ellie double in laughter as you both kiss and tickle her. when you both stop, ellie calms down, all of you in fits of giggles.
after a quick morning debrief about all of your dreams that night, ellie gets ready for school with the help of you and maya. you made her lunch while maya helped her get dressed. maya teared up a little at seeing ellie looking so cute in her little uniform.
“may may, why are you crying?” ellie asks worriedly, grabbing maya’s hand gently, maya smiles softly. her heart was exploding at how much love this little girl had in her, telling her everything about how much of an amazing mum you were.
“happy tears, elle belle” maya sniffles, bending down and straightening her little skirt and adjusting her jumper. “happy tears” ellie smiles, giving maya a little hug when she saw the tear roll down her face.
maya holds her hand and walks her to where you were waiting anxiously in the kitchen, a special breakfast awaiting your daughter’s arrival.
“mummy, may may won’t stop crying ‘happy tears’” ellie says worriedly, looking up at maya, maya shakes her head amusingly, looking at you with a little smirk.
you gasp when you see them, “look at you” you coo, immediately tearing up.
“mummy, don’t cry!” ellie gasps, running towards you and hugging your legs. you lift her up quickly and hug her, cradling her head to her chin as you sway her gently.
“my baby girl” you coo, ellie wipes away your tears with her hand and you smile fondly at her. maya takes photos of the both of you, making quick work of setting it as her lockscreen.
“please stop crying, you two cry too much” ellie pleads, you and maya both let out a little wet laugh. “sorry, lovie” maya smiles, kissing your cheek and ellie’s before she moves to wash the dishes quickly.
ellie sits down and you both chat to her about school and her feelings towards it as she ate her breakfast. you and maya get her ready and get her in the car, maya drives with a hand on your thigh while you grip onto her arm nervously.
“breathe, baby” maya chuckles, you nod and let out a little breath, ellie in the back hums along to a song on the radio to the short drive to her school.
you and maya would both be heading to work/training after this.
you get out of the car with maya and help ellie out, putting her backpack on for her as she holds onto both of your hands tightly.
“I will pick you up later, okay?” you both kneel down to her level, ellie nods enthusiastically, kissing your cheek and giving you a hug.
“i love you, mummy” ellie grins, a tear rolling down your cheek in the process “i love you, my girl”, she moves over to maya, “have a good day, elle belle, i love you” maya smiles, hugging the girl tightly as ellie kisses her cheek.
“i love you, may may” ellie waves to both of you, saying hello to her teacher as she walked in.
you immediately pout and look at maya, she quickly pulls you into a tight embrace, “baby, it’s okay, we’ll see her soon” maya says softly in your ear, you hold her tighter, your face hiding in the crook of her neck.
she held you for a little while longer, whispering sweet nothings in your ear before she walked you to the car, driving you both to the manchester united facility.
when the time came to pick up ellie, you rushed a quick kiss to maya’s lips before you promptly left to pick up your little girl. maya giggled against your lips when you kissed her, knowing how excited you were.
she had media duties today so the day was a little longer than expected, but you promised ellie that you both could stay and wait for her when ellie begged to stay with maya.
ellie bounds over to you excitedly, a big hug coming your way when she saw you on the school gate. “oh, my girl!” you grin,
“mummy, i missed you” ellie kisses your cheek, you return the gesture, “me and may may missed you way more” you grin, walking her to the car and driving back to the training facility.
you both walk in and the girls gasp excitedly when they see ellie, a popular favourite amongst all the staff and the team. she bounds over to ella and millie, the first people she sees as maya currently wasn’t in the room.
“hi, princess” ella says excitedly, pulling her into a tight hug and making ellie giggle. “i’ll go find maya, baby!” you grin, running out of the room in attempts to find your girlfriend.
a couple of the girls gather around ellie, fangirling over her as she recounted her day. that’s when ellie said it, “mummy and mama took me to school, and then-” ellie says excitedly, interrupted by mary,
“who drove you to school?” everyone tensed, confused whether they heard what they thought they did, looking at each other in shock but excitement also.
“uh, mama drove me” ellie said confused, “you mean (y/n)?” ella buts in, “no, mama drove and then went to training” ellie was genuinely confused.
“who’s mama, baby?” mary smiles, “mama is may may” ellie grins, sitting cross legged as the girls fangirl again.
when mary hears yours and maya’s excited chatting approaching, mary asks ellie the same question. “mary, you’re so silly, mama is may may!” ellie laughs, you and maya pause at the door.
maya’s mouth was agape, her eyes wide with shock. you cover your mouth with your hands, looking between the two of them, tears were brimming in your eyes again.
ellie finally saw maya at the door, running towards her excitedly, “mama!” ellie exclaims, crashing into maya’s legs with a hug. she hugs her tightly and maya’s eyes go to you, a tearful expression evident on her face.
“hi, my lovely girl” maya grins, pulling her up into a big hug, “mama, mary didn’t know you were mama” ellie laughs, hugging her tightly again, “i didn’t know i was mama” maya giggles, her hand rubbing circles on ellie’s back.
ellie looks at her confused, holding her hand out to you and making you walk over to them.
“that’s mummy,” she starts, holding your hand, “you’re mama” ellie put a hand on maya’s cheek, maya nods, both of your eyes glossy with tears. the girls all busy themselves to let you have your private moment.
“tell me about your day!” maya smiles softly, holding ellie with one hand and yours in the other as she walked with you to the physio room.
when you both go home and go through your regular routines, as soon as ellie was asleep, maya broke down.
“she called me mama” maya pouts, laying on top of you as she cried in your neck, you coo, rubbing your hands on the skin of her back under her shirt.
“because you are her mama” you smile, maya pulls back, “i love you, and ellie so much, i hope you both know that” maya sniffles, you nod and pull her into a loving kiss, “i know, baby, we love you so much too” you whisper against her lips, kissing her sweetly before dragging her off to bed.
everytime ellie calls maya ‘mama’ her heart flutters, she feels so privileged ellie considers her a mother figure and she’s so grateful for the both of you.
so much so, about two months later, ellie and maya are back to their partner in crime activities for a very special surprise on your 6 year anniversary.
maya and ellie woke up extra early to go out to the markets on a sunday, getting you flowers, a cake and other little goodies that you enjoyed.
at the market, maya asked ellie what she thought about her marrying you and ellie gave her a simple answer. “i want you and mummy to get married so you can be together forever” and that was the green light.
maya messily writes the number 6 on the cake and lets ellie carry it to yours and her room. maya’s hand quickly falls to her back pocket to check if the little box she’d been hiding for a year was there still, extremely nervous.
“morning!” ellie yells in your ear, maya winced, smiling at you apologetically as you sat up and rubbed your eyes.
“good morning, happy anniversary” you pull maya in for a kiss, “happy anniversary” she grins against your lips, pecking it quickly before ellie shoves the cake in between you two. maya places the flowers on your bedside table and smiles at ellie showing you the cake excitedly.
“we got cake!” ellie grins, you kiss her cheek lovingly and nod, “mhm, we got cake” you look at maya and she shrugs, kissing you quickly before sitting in front of you.
“i wanted to ask you something” maya says nervously, you look at her surprised, sitting up slightly and holding one of her hands.
“go for it, baby” you smile, maya smiles back, her hand reaching into her back pocket and pulling out a small velvet box.
your breath hitched, ellie gasps, slapping your knee slightly. from all the movies she’s watched, she knew what this meant and she was extremely excited.
“the last 6 years with you have been the best of my life, i’m ready to start forever if you are,” she starts, her expression tearful as your own tears ran down your face, “will you marry me?” maya chokes out, you nod frantically, pulling her into a passionate kiss as she gripped your hips.
ellie watches you both with her own tear running down her cheek, she finally knew what happy tears meant, her two mums were getting married.
maya slipped the ring on your finger and you hug her tightly, ellie joins in, all three of you giggling and smiling with each other. it truly was the start of forever, for the three of you.

Maya blurb based around the tiktok mary posted!!! Her little giggles are so cute
hotshot II m.le-tissier
"are you gonna have one babe?" maya asked as you lounged about on the sofa in mary's room, only laughing dryly at her question. "not a fucking chance." you smiled sweetly as there was a knock at the door and mary let alessia in.
"oh come on! don't be a wuss." maya teased with a grin, poking at you as you swatted her away and mary moved to set her phone up, grabbing the hotshots out of the fridge. "oh there's only three, such a shame." you pouted sarcastically.
"you can have mine?" alessia offered right away, mary quick to yank her back down on the bed as she tried to stand. "no! you're doin it less." the older girl remained firm as alessia groaned.
"may what are you giggling at? nobodies even said anything!" you laughed softly at the brunette who couldn't seem to contain her amusement, the girl only unable to shrug as her giggles became infectious and soon enough all four of you were struggling to catch your breath among laughing at one another.
"right settle down girls i'm clicking record!" mary announced, tapping her screen and settling between the two younger girls beside her as you watched on behind her phone on the sofa. she introduced the three of them and what they would be doing, handing both girls a hot shot drink.
your heart melted at your girlfriends repeated soft giggles at almost anything that was said, she truly made everyone around her feel like the funniest person in the world with her constant laughter and you adored her for it.
"wait what's in them?" you questioned, crossing your legs underneath you as mary was quick to joke that you were also here but refusing to participate. "there was only three of them and i said no first, snooze you lose!" you popped your head in frame to clarify, maya's giggles increasing as you did so.
"orange, lemon, ginger, turmeric and cayenne pepper." alessia read the ingredients out off the bottle as you grimaced. "i'm not kissing you after this until you thoroughly wash your mouth out." you warned your girlfriend who grinned and sent you a wink.
"right! i'll believe that when i see it, lovesick idiots the pair of you." mary scoffed, alessia humming in agreement as both of you rolled your eyes at their comments.
it wasn't hidden information that the two of you were dating but you kept your relationship quite private, repeatedly popping up in one anothers social media's, insta dumps and goofing around at training but when on the pitch together you were nothing but profressional.
"no mary that's too big to do in one." alessia immediately argued as the eldest girl ordered they all down it, maya furiously shaking hers on the end of the bed.
"oh god i can smell that from here." your girlfriend grimaced as mary cracked hers open with a chuckle. "no you can't say that cause alessia eats with her nose." mary warned with a grin, the blonde beside her taking a whiff and recoiling instantly with a look of disgust.
"she does that too!" maya accused you, cracking hers open and standing off the bed. "go on." she held it out for you to sniff as you shook your head. "babe you're not even drinking it the least you can do is smell it!" she groaned as you gave in with a huff, leaning in to give it a cautious sniff.
"may!" you smacked her leg unimpressed as she shoved it practically right up your nose, retreating to the bed with a giggle and a victorious smirk. "that is absolutely rank. nah im definitely not kissing you after that." you rubbed at your nose with the sleeve of your training top trying to get rid of the smell which refused to pass.
"shut up you're not even drinking it!" alessia scowled, mary starting to count them down and alessia and maya started arguing over if less was gonna drink half or just down it.
"the quicker its down the quicker its done less." you of course took your girlfriends side, holding your hands up in defense as the striker fixed you with a glare.
"right. go!" with that said you watched in horror, shock and awe as alessia and mary sipped at theirs and maya downed it in one. "you right baby?" you asked, mouth forming an o in shock as she paused for a moment as if contemplating.
then with a wordless shake of her head she lurched forward off the bed, tossing the empty bottle in your lap and staggering at you. "no maya if you're gonna throw up get away!" you whined as she burped loudly and clutched at her stomach, leaning over you as you shoved her away and she stumbled back to the bed.
"oi stop showing your bum to the camera." you laughed, kicking it softly as she turned around and sat back down still gagging and burping again as you collapsed into a fit of your own giggles to her reaction. "not funny!" she managed out among her hiccups, shooting you an annoyed look.
"go on, tell the camera what you think." mary grinned, gesturing to her phone as alessia struggled to drink her own, pulling all sorts of faces making you laugh harder. "you want the rest of mine?" the blonde offered as you furiously shook your head.
"not a chance after seeing your reactions." you refused, clutching at your stomach which was starting to ache from your repeated giggles at their expense, never more glad you'd opted out than watching them all struggle.
"here babe." you handed your bottle of juice to your girlfriend who'd sat back down on the bed, face flushed bright red as she accepted and chugged a large mouthful, handing it next to alessia who did the same.
"it went up my nose cause i started laughing-" maya struggled to speak, throat burning as she couldn't help but once again giggle and grin at marys expense, making fun of how loudly the older girl had gulped down her own shot.
"i think less is going through the five stages of grief." you laughed, head thrown back at the poor striker who was again pulling all sorts of horrific faces as the shot worked its way down her throat, and she hadn't even finished it yet.
"shut up." the blonde managed to get out among a mouthful of juice, kicking you. "less don't kick her!" maya reached over mary to shove her friends shoulder whose eyes rolled at the two of you, handing back the bottle of juice.
"i need some lip balm it's all tinglin." your girlfriend wiggled her fingers around her mouth as you grabbed your bag off the floor, rummaging around to see if you had any.
"you liked that? you're a psychopath maz." your eyes widened in disbelief at your friends words, the older girl shrugging and again stating she found it quite nice as alessia tried to hide her half drank shot.
but neither of the other girls were having that, right away pressuring her to finish it as you found your lip balm and watched on with an amused shake of your head as alessia took painfully small sips.
"just down it!" you laughed, not understanding why the girl was punishing herself more. "here may." you stood to hand her the lip balm as she finished practically holding the bottle up so alessia had to finish.
"lifesaver coming in clutch." maya accepted it, pulling you to sit down on the edge of the bed with her as she slathered her lips in the balm and sighed in relief, tugging your legs to drape over her lap as mary did her outro and clicked stop on the recording.
"nah i need to go and wash my mouth out! that was horrid mary." alessia stumbled to her feet and toward the bathroom. "oh my god is she bokin?" you heard sounds of retching as marys eyes widened and she raced off to check on the younger girl.
"how's your lips?" you grinned, pocketing the lip balm again as your girlfriend handed it back to you. "why don't you come here and find out." the defender balled your top in her fists trying to pull your mouth to meet hers.
"no! maya i was serious get away!" you tried to run but her longer limbs wrapped around you, the two of you struggling and pushing one another around with soft giggles and protests before eventually you found your body pinned beneath hers on the bed.
"no no no may please at least brush your teeth!" you begged as maya hovered over you with a wicked grin, shaking her head at your request.
"stop squirmin and just kiss me!" the girl giggled, cupping your face in her hands as your head thrashed left and right causing her to miss as she kissed your cheek and forehead.
your head held still in her gentle hold there was no avoiding her lips finally finding yours, as always soft and welcoming as they moved against your own, her tongue darting into your mouth and causing you to let out a small gasp.
though as you came down from the love-drunk high of kissing her, did the burning sensation start to whip through your mouth from her hot shot and you tugged your hands free from under her knees and pushed her off of you.
"thats the worst kiss i've ever had." you admitted as the two of you lay on the bed, sheltering your body as your girlfriend smacked you for the comment.
"oh you want me to kiss you again? of course i will gorgeous!" she sat up suddenly and cooed, launching back at you as you laughed and tried to roll away as she kissed all over your face your combined giggles filling the air.
"oi hot shots, stop making out on my fucking bed!"

fluff request! maya trying to flirt with you but just turning into an absolute awkward mess every time she does
a/n: just a little blurb for mlt my baby
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
• maya le tissier •
-
“you’re staring.”
mary singsongs- coming up to maya from behind and swinging an arm around her shoulders, ruffling her hair.
maya flushes red- looking around frantically to make sure no one heard her- as she tries in vain to shove the older woman off her.
“go away mary! i was not staring.”
“awwee it’s okay though maya baby- you’ve got a little crush, it’s okay to be staring, it’s cute.”
mary pinches the defenders cheek- moving to the side when maya tries to shove her back.
she stumbles past the keeper- and before she can find her footing to round back and complain to mary- she falls into another body.
“hi there maya.”
you smile down at her- your hands holding her arms gently so she doesn’t fall any further.
maya doesn’t respond- and you frown a little.
"you okay?"
"uhhh mmmhhh yep perfect!"
maya squeaks out- bewildered eyes looking anywhere but you.
"...you sure?"
you question, and maya nods frantically at your question- standing up properly and saluting you.
"uhh... yep thanks so much captain?"
she takes off running- and you smile at her retreating form.
-
"i saluted her mary- saluted! like some idiot!"
maya slumps onto the ground- hands over her face.
"just leave me here- maybe i'll melt into the ground and i wont ever have to talk her again."
"damn maya- you've got it bad."
"mary! you're meant to help me."
"you just need to talk to her maya- like actually talk, not run away after three words."
"but thats the hardest part!"
-
"hey maya- wanna be my partner for warmups?"
you slide easily up to the brunette at training- your hand gently touching her arm. you try to catch her eye but still- she avoids looking into yours.
maya nodds her head regardless- and a smile spreads across your face.
you try to make conversations with her through warmups, but every time you try to talk- maya seems like she could care less about the conversation. you frown- about to ask her what was wrong when she interrupts you.
"i think you're pretty... great- wait no, sorry not no, yes i do think you're pretty, but i meant you are pretty great but like also just pretty you know? like you're a good- great! person but also a pretty person- but i- i like you so much and you make me so stressed and nervous and im just going to shut up now."
"maya- i like you too."

Softie (maya le tissier x reader)
Summary: Maya’s got a reputation as a fierce, determined defender to uphold. You, as her girlfriend, know the truth - she’s actually a massive softie.
———
If you could choose one word to describe Maya, it would be soft.
Soft like the way she giggles at the silliest things, her laughter filling your ears like the purest liquid gold.
Soft like the way her eyes light up when you get put in the same team in training, because she much prefers winning with you rather than competing against you for the inflatable trophy.
Soft like the way she clambers back into bed after checking on the dog first thing in the morning and nuzzles her face into your neck, mumbling words about how much she missed you, even though she was only gone for a few minutes.
She’s sunshine personified, caring and lovely and most importantly yours.
The thing is, Maya doesn’t think she’s soft. In fact, she flat out denies it when you call her a big softie, right after she comes back from the shop with not just the pint of milk she went for, but a beautiful bouquet of flowers that she presents to you with a beaming smile.
“I’m not soft,” she protests with a frown, and even that’s cute, the way that her eyebrows furrow together and her bottom lip pushes out ever so slightly. “I just thought they were pretty, that’s all. Just like you.”
“See!” you can’t help but point out in triumph. “You’re a softie.”
“I’m not!”
“It’s okay, baby,” you tell her, setting the flowers aside and wrapping your arms around her waist, and Maya welcomes you into her arms like she’s not currently pretending to be mad at you. “I won’t tell anyone. It can be our little secret. I know you like people to think you’re a big bad centre back.”
“I am a big bad centre back,” she tries to insist, though she smells of lavender and the hands on your back are ever so gentle as she holds you against her chest.
———
If Maya really was a big bad centre back, if she was so concerned about her on-field reputation being damaged by her teammates knowing how loved-up she is, then she wouldn’t do things like this.
This being the note that you find in your locker as you’re getting changed before training one day, the words ‘love you like crazy’ scrawled in Maya’s familiar loopy writing over a series of kisses. You break out into a grin as soon as you find the note nestled between your boots and your hoodie and when you glance across the changing room, Maya’s eyes are on you, watching you discover her little love note, even as she half-listens to one of Millie’s stories.
“Love you too,” you mouth to her, and the way that the shy smile on her face spreads into a full grin, cheeks flushing slightly like it’s the first time you’ve told her that you love her and not the thousandth, has you falling in love with her all over again.
But the momentary distraction of making heart eyes across the dressing room is long enough for Ella to spot the note caught between your fingers, and you’re pretty sure that half the girls would tease you both for it but especially Tooney.
“Didn’t know you were such a simp, Maya,” Ella teases her loudly, and it’s not long before the handwritten note has made its way around the entire dressing room and Maya’s face has flamed up to match the shade of red of her training kit.
As you traipse out of the dressing room and towards the training pitch five minutes later, you walk alongside Maya and give her hand a comforting squeeze.
“They’re just jealous that their partners aren’t as sweet as mine,” you tell her. “I liked it. It was cute.”
———
Maya shows up to training the next day in a tank top, even though it’s a few degrees too cold for it, and you’re pretty sure it’s a direct response to the public allegation that she’s soft at heart. You’re not going to complain though, in fact you might start thinking of other ways to challenge her reputation as a fierce defender if this is the outcome, especially when you’re treated to a front row seat to the gun show that she puts on in the gym after lunch, lifting slightly more than usual as if trying to prove a point.
Ella is the one who calls you out on your not-so-subtle ogling of Maya’s rippling biceps.
“Keep your tongue in your mouth,” she teases you, pulling you out of your trance by poking a socked toe into your thigh as you stretch out on the floor with a foam roller. “This is a workplace, you know.”
“Tell that to Maya,” you counter. “She’s the one being distracting.”
If there was any doubt about the deliberateness of Maya’s choice of clothing, nor the way she’s been strutting around the gym like she owns the place, it’s completely vanquished when Maya makes eye contact with you moments later, her eyebrows twitching suggestively at you as she shoots you a smile, before dropping back onto the bench to start a new set of chest presses.
This girl is going to kill you one day.
———
One day turns out to be later in the same day, because no sooner have you crossed the threshold into your shared apartment, does Maya drop her bag by the door and hoist you up into her arms, pressing you against the wall as she practically attacks your mouth with her own.
“Still think I’m soft?” she mumbles against your lips.
You struggle to formulate a response, thoroughly distracted by the way her strong hands are splayed against your thighs as your legs tighten around her hips, how she makes lifting you up seem effortless and you’re definitely grateful for all those extra reps in the gym when the benefits are this wonderful.
“Yeah,” you manage to answer, as her lips descend onto your neck instead, finding the flutter of your pulse and scraping her teeth against the sensitive skin, not hard enough to leave a mark but enough to leave you wanting. “Still soft.”
Maya’s fingers dig into your thighs and she carries you through the flat until you get to the bedroom, where she pretty much manhandles you onto the bed and climbs on top of you.
“How about now?” she asks, a challenge in her eyes as she takes each of your hands in turn and raises them above your head, daring you move them if you want to face the consequences of disobeying her.
And of course you’re going to keep winding her up about it if this is the outcome, did she really expect otherwise?
“My sweetheart,” you tell her, challenging her right back. “My angel. My perfect girl.”
The way that Maya yanks your shorts down and starts kissing and biting her way down your body is anything but soft, but you’re not going to complain.
———
You are many things, but not so stubborn that you can’t admit that Maya is not always soft. Because the Maya that calls you sweet nicknames and buys you flowers and leaves notes in your locker is very different from the Maya who stands solid in the centre of the Manchester United defence.
She just has this aura about her, a kind of confidence that isn’t arrogant, just assured of her own ability, that she backs up with every block or last ditch tackle. And when she follows up a goal-saving tackle with something just as impressive moving forwards, like pinging a pass diagonally across the field to meet the run of Leah, you, as a creative attacking player, can’t help but admire her vision too.
You’re on the bench today, which means you get to admire Maya’s talent and technical ability guilt-free, your eyes following her as she strides forward with Millie after United win a corner, a little swagger in her step as the two converse behind hands that shield their mouths. You wonder what they’re plotting but it’s clearly something special, because when Katie sends the ball flying in from the corner, Maya finds herself unmarked and rockets the ball into the back of the net with her head, finally giving United the lead.
You’re up off your seat in an instant, celebrating with the other substitutes, though you can’t help but admire Maya’s celebrations on the pitch too, using her strength to lift Millie up with one arm as she raises the other hand with a clenched fist towards the fans and roars in pride.
Maya’s a professional though, and she doesn’t let herself bask in the joy of a rare goal-scoring opportunity for too long. You’re only one goal up, after all, and there’s still time left to play. She returns to her spot in the middle of the defensive line for play to resume, as stoic and as focused as she was before the ball found the back of the opponent’s net.
You’re subbed on not long after Maya’s goal puts United ahead, fresh legs needed to add to, or at the very least defend the narrow lead.
The thing about coming on for the end of the game, is that most of the other players on the pitch have tired legs, and tired legs means tired challenges.
The challenge you find yourself on the receiving end feels like more than just tiredness, it’s the opponent being frustrated at the way Manchester United are managing the late game and lashing out by sliding in clumsily, connecting with your ankle after you’ve already played the ball away. Your legs are swept from beneath you and you tumble onto the grass clutching your foot, the impact of the challenge and studs against your ankle bone smarting with pain.
The physiotherapists are at your side in an instant while chaos erupts around you. The referee has a card out but it’s a flash of yellow that gets waved at the player who took you down, not red. Your teammates aren’t happy about that but there’s one person in particular who rages at such a dangerous challenge being let off with a yellow, and you can hear Maya’s voice cutting through the others as she tells the referee exactly what she thinks of that decision.
“Oi, ref! Are you blind? That’s a fucking red!”
Maya doesn’t swear often, which is how you know she’s furious with the challenge you’ve just received. But she knows the rules, knows that she can’t get away with swearing at a referee like that, and surely knows to expect the yellow card that gets waved in her direction next, but she’s still angry. The much more level-headed Katie steps in to talk to the referee, while Millie wraps an arm around Maya’s shoulders and tries to steer her away from the group of players around the referee before she gets herself into any further trouble.
“Maya!” you call out from your position on the floor, as the physios attend to your ankle.
And it’s like a switch flicks in Maya’s head because the second she hears you calling out her name, the anger slips off her face and she’s crouching at your side, looking down at you with concern in her eyes.
“Are you okay?”
“I’ll be fine,” you say, stretching your ankle out at the request of the physio to check you’ve still got a full range of movement in it. “Don’t go getting sent off for me.”
“She should’ve been sent off,” Maya complains.
“I know, but she wasn’t,” you remind her. “We’re winning because of you, don’t be the one who makes us lose it.”
The physios seem satisfied that there’s no damage to your ankle and Maya is the one who helps you to your feet, holding one of your hands and resting her other one on your waist as you test out bearing weight on the injured ankle.
“All good?” she asks you.
“It’ll be fine,” you assure her, finally letting go of her hand as you follow the physios to the side of the pitch.
Maya’s face is still etched with concern as you wait to be allowed back on the pitch, but once the referee’s whistle blows for the game to resume and she beckons you back on, Maya is fully focused again, as determined to protect the one-goal lead as she was to protect you from reckless challenges.
———
“That was kinda hot, you know?” you tell Maya in the dressing room after the game, once you’ve wrapped up the win and secured all three points, murmuring the words so that nobody else can hear. “Going into protective girlfriend mode out there.”
“If you’d got badly injured, if you’d had to go off, I don’t know what I would’ve done,” Maya admits. “I might’ve lost my head completely.”
“You nearly did anyway,” you point out, sliding an arm around her back and squeezing her waist. “Willing to fight a referee for me and everything. Very hot.”
“Yeah?” she asks, a tiny smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
“And you got the winning goal,” you add. “Might earn yourself a little reward tonight, if you’re lucky.”
Maya’s teeth dig into her lower lip and her eyes darken, and if you weren’t surrounded by teammates and it wasn’t wildly inappropriate to be having the thoughts that you’re currently having, you’d drag her off to the showers to give her the reward right now.
Maya must be thinking the same, because her breath comes out slightly stuttered as she says, “Can’t wait.”
———
But when you get home after the match, Maya is the one who ends up treating you. She orders you to settle on the sofa, propping your ankle up on cushions even though you can walk on it just fine and barring a little bit of bruising you can’t tell that you injured it at all. Soon the room is lit only by a couple of scented candles and your favourite Harry Potter movie is playing on the large television on the wall, and when food arrives from a local restaurant that you love, Maya insists on collecting it from the door herself and bringing it straight to your lap.
After you’ve both eaten, discarded plates and takeaway containers littered across the nearby coffee table, Maya is curled into your side with her head on your shoulder and her arm around your waist, and she quietly murmurs, I think you’re right.”
“About what?”
“I think I am a softie.”
You smile to yourself, then pull Maya a bit closer, if possible, and press a lingering kiss to the top of her head.
“Oh baby, it’s okay,” you assure her. “It’s one of the many reasons I’m completely in love with you.”
“Only for you though,” Maya says, lifting her head and giving you a look as if to warn you against telling anybody else. As if the rest of the team doesn’t already know that you’ve got Maya wrapped around your little finger.
“Only for me,” you agree.

maya tells you she loves you in just about every way she can, all day, every day. she just doesn't say it in so many words. it takes you a while to catch on.
not enough maya appreciation on this app - enough is enough

quality time
the empty bottle of wine stands sentry on the coffee table. you watch as the low glow of the tv reflects in the dregs left in your finished glasses. the volume is too low to hear what's being said, the show you were previously watching reduced to a steady background hum, but neither of you mind; you'd both stopped paying attention long ago.
you glance up from your book momentarily, your eyes flickering over the figure at the other end of the sofa. maya is similarly occupied; one hand softly tracing the words as she reads, the other absentmindedly tangling back and forth in mocha’s fur as he stretches across her feet. her hair hangs loose around her face, the lamp beside her casting her half in shadow and half in warm, orange light. mocha looks up at you, but maya doesn’t.
your attention shifts back to your book, and you settle back into familiarity. this nightly routine is one you love; the shared moment of respite from your busy schedules. it’s getting late though, and the words are starting to blur together on the page. you don’t want to disturb the peace just yet.
it’s only when you find your eyes running over the same sentence for the third time that you shift. the old sofa creaks a little as you stretch, and you let out an exaggerated groan to match it as you stand. maya laughs a little, but she doesn’t lift her gaze from the page. if she had she would have caught the way you poked your tongue out at her, and probably would have responded in kind.
maya cooked tonight, and so you begin to dutifully gather the empty dishes. it’s only when you’re arms deep in soapy water that you hear maya stand too. her book thuds against the coffee table, and mocha lets out a low bark.
“just taking the dog out,” maya calls, and you hum in response. the latch clicks. you reach a soapy hand out of the water to flick the kettle on. it’s all part of the routine.
they aren’t gone long, and their return is soon heralded by the gentle patter of mocha’s claws against the hardwood. maya pads into the kitchen, pulls two mugs and two teabags out of the cupboard, pours the water, now boiled, then hauls herself onto the worktop beside you.
“i was thinking of going on a dog walk in the woods tomorrow, you wanna come?”
“yeah sure, are the others coming?”
it’s a running joke that the 'unoffical manchester united dog walker's club' is the apex of the team’s social ladder. forget the coffee mornings, the brunches, the team nights out - if you wanted a way in for true bonding, you had to own a dog. it was common on days off for a group of the girls to get together to walk their dogs, with the intensity ranging from leisurely stroll to outright hike, depending on who had planned it. you’d learnt the hard way to politely decline when leah chose the route.
sure you didn’t technically own a dog, but having been roommates with maya for the best part of a year, and best friends for far longer, mocha was basically in shared custody. you regularly tagged along, as an honourary member of a tight-knit group.
it’s why you weren’t expecting maya to shrug and shake her head.
“i haven’t asked - i figured we could just go together. we haven’t hung out just us in a while.”
you chose not to mention that the two of you spent almost every night together in your flat, or that you’d gotten lunch together just two days ago. instead you grinned and nodded, drying your hands and taking the cup of tea that maya held out to you.
“sounds good,” you sip gently at your tea - before spitting it out with a yelp, “fuck, that’s hot!”
maya laughs brightly at you, even though you do this pretty much every day, “yeah no shit, i just made it - be patient for once!” you stick your tongue out at her, and this time she does see it, and she does return the gesture. it’s childish, sure, but your friendship had started in the youth age groups, and, although you were responsible adults now, some things never change.
you lean back against the counter as you wait for the tea to cool, and the two of you begin chatting a little while longer about not much at all. eventually maya jumps down, rinsing her mug and heading to her room, mocha in tow. you follow her, your own cup only half-drunk, flicking off the lights as you do so.
“night y/n,” maya says softly as she pushes her door open, lingering slightly in the doorway. she watches you clumsily shoulder open your own door, opposite hers, waiting for you to reply.
“goodnight maya.”
—-
maya was already up when you emerged the next morning, early mornings always coming to her more easily than they did to you. she always looked so put together when she woke up, a stark contrast to your disheveled appearance. not that either of you cared - those boundaries of self-consciousness had long been washed away between the two of you. it was only maya after all.
“there’s coffee in the pot,” she mumbled, chewing her words around her cereal.
“thanks, you’re an angel.”
“you ready to head out in a bit?” maya asked, having now swallowed her mouthful. you groaned a little in jest, but maya’s bright eyes shone with humour, and you nodded.
“sure, sure - although you know it’s called a day off for a reason?”
“you agreed to it, plus you’ve had like a two hour lie-in.”
“i know, i’m actually feeling very well-rested.” you placed your cereal down, seating yourself across from maya with a grin, “it’s just more fun to moan at you.”
“glad to hear it,” maya smirked, taking another spoonful. she knew you well enough to know that your moaning was only ever lighthearted, and she was perfectly happy to indulge you. you liked that about her, liked how easy it was to settle into that playful teasing whenever you were around each other, which in fairness, was most of the time.
---
you walked barely a half-step behind maya, eyes focused on the imprints her shoes left in the rain-softened ground, but ears firmly locked onto her latest anecdote. she turned slightly to look at you as she talked, and when you laughed, she did too. she looked so comfortable when she laughed, the way her eyes crinkled and her head tilted back. walking alongside her, you felt equally light. she paused to fall in step with you, still smiling. the two of you made eye contact, and you couldn't help the way your smile grew. maya looked away, fiddling with the dog lead she held in her hands.
"by the way, the girls were talking about having dinner tonight at millie's, do you wanna go?" maya asked, eyes flickering over the trees that surrounded you, before eventually landing back on you. you shrugged, giving maya a guilty smirk.
"is it bad that i can't really be bothered?" you scrunched your nose up, but maya smirked back again, shaking her head. maybe you were imagining it, but her posture almost seemed to loosen, as if she were relieved. you didn't ponder it long though, because the splitsecond thought faded as soon as maya spoke, and your attention diverted back to solely her.
"no, me too!" she grinned conspiratorially, "i'm glad it's not just me - i love them and everything, but we see them literally all the time, i kind of just want a quiet night in."
"well, you see me all the time - better not be getting sick of me now le tissier?" you raised an eyebrow playfully. with anyone else, maya's words might have worried you, might have played on your insecurites of being too much, too overbearing. with anyone else, your reply might've been edging on serious, might've taken every inch of your body not to let your worries seep into your voice, but this was maya. you didn't have to worry about that with her, and so your tone was light, purely joking. maya's reply confirmed as much.
"oh god, like you wouldn't believe," maya countered back with a grin, before she cupped her hands around her mouth and called out to the empty woods around you, "somebody help! this fucking stalker won't leave me alone!"
the sound echoed through the trees, and you nudged her with your shoulder, hard enough to send her stumbling, feet slipping off the path and into the muddy ditch. you laughed, before wrapping a hand around her bicep and pulling her back to walk beside you. all this time, maya's grin never wavered, and she looked up at you, eyes shining.
"you’re such a dickhead, these trainers were clean earlier."
"that's on you for wearing white shoes to the woods to be honest."
maya rolled her eyes, before calling for mocha to come out of the same mud she'd just stepped into. you loved days like this, so familiar, so comfortable, where you and maya just slipped into playful teasing. it was this easy banter, the kind that comes with years of friendship, that made hanging out with maya so, well, easy.
"seriously, though," maya's voice was softer as she looked over at you, a little shyer. "i could never get sick of you - you're different." this side of her you loved too, the warm, gentle soul, always willing to extend a hand of comfort, or an olive branch.
"i could never get sick of you either maya."
she smiled back at you, and it was like the sun got a little brighter.
---
the rest of your day off had passed similarly, with shared smiles, inside jokes, and teasing banter, until you and maya found yourself collapsed next to each other on your shared sofa. the same positions as always - you curled up against one arm, maya reclined comfortably against the other, legs outstretched.
maya picked up her book, immediately immersed, but yours remained closed on your lap. you snuck a look at her, chewing your lip in thought, replaying the day in your mind.
it had been nice - as it always was with maya. you appreciated it, the quiet time with her, where you never had to do much except exist. maya gave you that - the freedom to just be.
your musing was interrupted by the harsh buzz of maya's phone against the coffee table.
"pass me that?" maya murmured, too engrossed in her book to even look up. you reached over, not without an exaggerated groan to hint at your displeasure at being made to move. maya kicked you as you held out the phone to her.
"shut up - can you just read it to me?"
you groaned again at being given the laborious task of unlocking her phone. opening her messages though, your attention piqued a little. the text from mary was innocuous at best, but it was maya's earlier messages that caught your eye.
Tumblr media
"well," maya looked up at you expectantly, cutting you off from your thoughts, "who was it?"
"oh uh," you internally shook yourself a little, still a little confused at the messages, "just mary, she said, uh, she'll see you tomorrow."
"oh cool, thanks y/n," maya turned back to her book with a smile, a preoccupied air clouding her words. silently, you clicked maya's phone shut and placed it down, thoughts firing. you were a little perplexed - maya was never one to turn down plans, and especially not with made up excuses. she loved getting coffee with mary; they did it all the time. or at least, you realised, they used to.
you tried to think back to the last time maya had met mary for coffee. now you thought about, it must have been a while. your schedules were jam packed, and you and maya had spent pretty much every day off recently together. first you wondered if they'd had a falling out, but from the way they were texting you dismissed it quickly.
then it occurred to you, just briefly, that maybe maya was one to turn to down plans, and maybe you just hadn't noticed it, because she never did it with you. you shook your head. that wouldn't have made any sense. the dog walk earlier had probably just been one of the errands maya had mentioned, and she'd just asked you along for company.
yeah, you thought, slowly picking up your book, that was probably it.
words of affirmation
the thoughts flickered in your head the next morning, as maya picked up an extra coffee on your way to training. they stirred a little more as you watched maya interact with mary, searching for any irregularites, but finding none. they resurfaced again over the course of several days, as you noticed maya turn down coffee, then lunch, then dinner with various teammates. all in favour of just hanging out at home.
but this was maya, you thought, so she was a homebody, so what? who were you to judge, given that usually you'd also gladly take a calm night in at your flat over a hectic night out with the girls. the thoughts faded pretty quickly after that, and by the time sunday rolled around, they were pretty much nonexistent.
your attention focused instead on the game ahead of you. as with every week, the nerves seemed to roll inside you like waves cresting over one another, instead of neatly against the shore. it was something you'd never quite managed to shake, the overwhelming feeling of stress before a match, leaving you feeling disjointed, all jagged around the edges. it was fine usually, something you'd come to deal with. you'd learnt to take those feelings and channel them into fire.
nobody's perfect though. sometimes, you needed a helping hand. and true to form, maya could always tell when. no man is an island, as they say, and there was maya, always ready to leap into those stormy waters, paddle in hand, lifejacket on.
"hey you."
"hey," you sighed, looking over at maya as she sat down heavily next to you. you could tell maya didn't need a second look to understand how you were feeling. you gave a half-heartened smile.
"sorry," you murmured, trying to shake yourself out of it, "i'm all-"
"jittery?" maya filled in, soft smile gracing her features, "yeah, i know."
you nodded begrudgingly, taking a deep breath in. you wanted to speak, to explain more, but it was as though maya sensed you couldn't quite do it. she stepped in.
"hey, you got this okay? you always do."
you opened your mouth, but maya's gaze found yours, and you found yourself believing her. you were never really one for eye contact, but something about maya made it easy. maybe it was how kind her eyes looked, how knowing; like every thought or worry you'd ever had was reflected back in them - broken down, understood, seen. maybe it was just because they were pretty.
"nerves are good, remember? they mean you want to do well," maya echoed your mantra back to you, and you listened. words always sounded better coming from her.
"i know you'll play well, because you always do. you're a great player, you're tough, you're smart, you're good. there's no one else i'd rather have next to me on the pitch. the team trusts you. i trust you."
you nodded, pulling maya in for a hug. you closed your eyes, breathing her in. her breath tickled your neck as she whispered, "and if it goes wrong, i've got your back. always."
"thanks," you smiled, though she couldn't see it, "love you."
maya nodded, pulling back with a smile. her hand lingered on your thigh as you met her eyes once again. "let's smash it."
---
you did, in fact, smash it. the game went well, a perfect result - clean sheet and a win - and right at the heart of it, was you and maya. maya and you, ever solid, ever present. she was right, as she always was.
your defensive partnership had seeded itself from the early ages, when the two of you were young, shy kids in the england youth groups. it had blossomed and strengthened through your brazen teens, and now, finally together at club level, it was a force to be reckoned with.
you were both good players individually, but your closeness off the pitch was what cemented it as brilliant. you read each other so well, it was honestly sometimes scary. sometimes it felt like maya knew what you were going to do before you did. you often didn't even have to speak, but you did anyway, because it was maya, and you liked speaking to her. any excuse for a chat.
"see? told you you'd be fine," said maya as she sidled up next to you when you left the pitch. you elbowed her side and laughed.
"just fine? did you see that sick tackle i did?"
"hmm, mine was better," maya winked, and you rolled your eyes, pushing her into the changing rooms with a loud laugh.
---
the day ended as it always did: you and maya (and mocha) on the sofa, too worn out to do much else. today though, the tv was blaring, its sounds interspersed with your laughter and commentary of the godawful show maya had turned on.
"can you believe this shit?" you laughed, turning to look at maya, "why are we watching it?" she rolled her eyes.
"because its funny, shut up."
"and because you fancy the main character." you gave maya a sly smirk, which she returned with an eyeroll.
"maybe..." then she grinned widely, "can you blame me?"
"nah, i get it."
you laughed, reclining back into the sofa. mocha gave you a disgruntled look as you pulled your feet up to rest in maya's lap, nudging him from where he lay. you turned back to the show. okay so maybe you were a little invested now. feeling eyes on you though, you looked back to realise maya hadn't done the same.
"what?" you smiled.
"nothing," if you didn't know better, you'd say maya looked a little sheepish. you weren't sure why. you gave her a questioning look, complete with raised eyebrow, "just zoned out a little."
you shrugged and nodded, half turning back to the tv. maya, however, seemed to want to say more.
"your, uh, your hair looks nice like that," she said. you tried to meet her eyes, but her gaze was back fixed on the tv.
"oh, thanks," you murmured, a little surprised. not at the compliment - maya gave you them all the time - but more at her tone. it was soft, borderline shy. you weren't sure why she was being weird.
"you should wear it down more often," maya looked back at you, and just like that her usual easy smile back, her brief awkwardness now dissipated.
"i mean i would if i could - having it up for training all the time kills my head."
"god same," maya gave an exaggerated whine, and the laughter was back, "i'm not going to have a hairline by the time i'm 25."
---
by the next morning, you barely remembered the compliment, having gone on to spend the rest of the night fixated on that stupid tv show, admittedly only to loudly debate the attractiveness of each character with maya.
it was only when you reflexively went to put your hair up that it crossed your mind again. you made pensive eye contact with yourself in the mirror, before gently placing the hairband down. no particular reason.
it seemed mary had finally managed to corral maya into getting coffee, and so she was nearly out the door by the time you headed into the kitchen for breakfast. digging around in her bag for her car keys, she looked up at you briefly, smiling in small greeting.
"you doing anything today?" she asked, and you shook your head, fully intent on just relaxing on your day off, "i'll be back in a couple hours, shall i pick up a few bits for lunch?"
"sounds good," you nodded, although your attention was very much focused on finding yourself some breakfast first.
"cool," maya shrugged on her jacket hurriedly, only pausing at the door to call back over her shoulder, "that outfit looks really good on you by the way!"
you barely even had time to look up before she was gone.
---
you'd be lying if you said the compliment didn't put a little spring in your step for the rest of the morning. you told yourself it was just the same as any old compliment, but there was a niggling feeling that it was made that much sweeter just because it came from maya. two compliments in two days - you were being spoiled.
although now you thought about it, maybe it wasn't that out of the ordinary. you'd intended to spend your free morning slothing out on the sofa, maybe catching up on the shows you'd missed, or finishing the book you'd been neglecting of late. instead, you found yourself thinking back on your many interactions with maya.
the more you thought, the more you realised just how often maya said nice things to you. for all the two of you teased and joked, you could pick out a dozen examples just this week of maya complimenting you - superficial things like your hair, your clothes, your make-up, but not just that.
on the pitch, you realised, she would frequently offer words of appreciation, calling out that you'd done well in a drill as she ran past you, patting you on the back as she congratulated you on a tackle, a block, a pass. even beyond that, just yesterday in an interview she'd said you were her favourite person to play with. the day before that she'd mentioned how much she loved being around you.
the moments, all seemingly inocuous at the time, now seemed to pile up before your eyes. linking them all together was the warm feeling you felt whenever she'd say something, and the soft smile she'd offer in return. you sipped your coffee slowly, a startling thought dawning on you - were you a compliment whore?
with this newfound information about yourself, you tried to think of compliments you'd been given by others, but surprisingly came up short. with a jolt, you realised you didn't remember because in all honesty, you didn't really care. it was only maya's opinion that mattered.
this realisation was somewhat startling, and you didn't quite know what to do with it. you knew from past experience that you often had a tendency to come up with wild fantasies, to see things that weren't quite there when it came to romance. you shut down the thoughts, refused to think about what it might mean. maya was your best friend, of course you wanted her to think highly of you. it didn't mean anything.
you pushed the thoughts away, locking them up for a rainy day. this is why you shouldn't be left alone - you started thinking. as maya had joked to you many times before; that was dangerous.
the door opened, and maya appeared, laden with bags.
"this doesn't look like just 'a few bits', maya," you grinned, watching her struggle for a second before standing to help.
"shut up," she said, watching as you took the, admittedly heavy, bags and placed them on the counter. she walked past you, squeezing your upper arm in the process, "nice biceps."
you made a playful show of flexing them, and tried not to think about the warm feeling that swelled up inside you. the realisation that you'd do pretty much anything to get her to compliment you again hit you like a slap to the face.
physical touch
thoughts and feelings continued to rattle around inside you for the next few days. now that you'd opened the floodgates, it was getting harder and harder to deny the brewing thoughts that accompanied every single thing maya did. you tried endlessly to push them back down, adamant that you just saw her as a friend. and it worked, if only for a little while.
the thing is, the harder you tried, the more you denied it, maya had this uncanny way of worming her way back into your heart. you supposed it was a side effect of her being just so, well, perfect.
you told yourself it was only because she was your best friend, your, strictly platonic, soulmate. these past few weeks however, try as you might, you couldn't deny that, just maybe, you were developing a crush.
maybe you had been for a while.
you tried to ignore it, but every day you registered a new thing that dragged you down a little deeper. maya could make you smile by just being around you. maya could say exactly what you needed to hear. every word was like a breath of fresh air, every look was warm sunlight, and every touch was a spark of electricity.
and, as you'd recently realised, there was a lot of touching. you and maya were touchy friends, the kind who had no qualms about casual embraces or friendly physicality. you'd never noticed it before, probably because it had never meant anything before, but lately you noticed just how frequently maya sought out your touch.
the first time you'd really registered it, you'd been out at a bar with the girls, celebrating the latest win. you hadn't quite realised the extent of your feelings, still in the early phases of filtering through what they all meant, and steadfastly denying most of them.
the air was warm and stuffy, contributing to that heady feeling of the alcohol catching up with you. you leant against the bar, watching the girls gathered together in a booth, their raucous laughter audible even from where you stood. you tried to ignore how your eyes unconsciously shifted back over to maya, or how her laughter seemed to stand out as louder than the rest.
your thoughts were cut off by a rough hand grazing your waist. you shifted out of the stranger's grasp, but there wasn't much leeway at the packed bar.
"you here alone, sweetheart?" you took another small step back as the man turned to you. his heavy scent of beer and sweat clung in the air, almost suffocating.
"no, i'm with friends, thanks," you muttered, trying to make eye contact with the bartender so you could get your drinks and go.
"i'm sure they wouldn't mind if you found some other company..." his rough hand reached out to touch your hand, and you grimaced, pulling away.
"i'm okay thanks."
"at least let a guy buy a pretty girl a drink."
you were just considering leaving the bar altogether when you felt another arm slink around your waist. this one, however, was soft and slight, and welcome. you sank backwards, letting the familiar smell of vanilla shampoo envelope you.
"she's already got one, thank you." maya's voice was firm, and you let her drag you away, back to the table. she passed you a drink, her arm still comfortably tight around your waist.
"you okay?" she asked, voice low and concerned, as you both sank into your seats. you nodded, trying to regain a bit of clarity.
"yeah thanks, fucking creep," you shot a quick glance over to the bar, where the guy still remained, before looking back into maya's concerned eyes and nodding again, "thanks for the drink."
"no problem - just, stay with me for the rest of the night, yeah?" you nodded, having no intention of doing any different. maya's expression flickered protectively, making her eyes look several shades darker.
it was only a little later, when you were halfway through your drink and had all but forgotten your vile encounter, that you registered that maya still hadn't moved her arm. you were unaware if she even knew herself, the both of you now comfortably drunk. the two of you were pressed up against one another in the booth, her fingers stroking absentmindedly at where your shirt had ridden up. an unbidden shiver ran through you, your sudden awareness making each touch feel like a static shock.
"you okay?" maya must have noticed the way you tensed up, because she turned to you, lazy smile clouded with inebriety. you could only nod. shaking yourself internally, you resolved yourself to dealing with your feelings tomorrow, and sank back into her. you leant heavily into her, missing the way her soft smile grew as you did. maya didn't move her hand all night.
when you woke the next morning, it was to a headache and hazy memories of the early hours. you dragged yourself to lie on the sofa, only after downing some water and painkillers.
maya joined you some time later, looking equally worse for wear. she sluggishly filled her water bottle, before trudging over to the sofa.
"i knew those jagers were a bad move," she groaned.
"i distinctly remember you saying the complete opposite last night," you laughed, opening your arms for her. you didn't think much of it as you did, but when maya collapsed on top of you for a hug, the memories of last night flooded back. you couldn't argue with the warmth that flooded your body as maya nestled on top of you. it was time to accept that you felt more for her than any friend should.
"you should've stopped me," she groaned into your chest, her arms wriggling their way around your back. you swallowed, before deciding, perhaps stupidly, to just give into it. you'd deal with the consequences of falling for her later.
"i tried! you called me boring then bought another round," you laughed, your hand coming up to rest on her back.
"oops," you felt maya grin into your chest, "what are you watching?"
"just shitty tv," you replied, "wanna change it?"
"nah, i'm okay," her reply was muffled, and you nodded, stroking her back softly. as you felt maya's breathing even out, you had a sinking feeling that there was no going back now.
---
from then, it was like a switch had been flicked. whereas before, you'd barely noticed all maya's hugs and touches, now, each one seared itself permanently into your brain - and your skin.
some of the touches were accidental, you assumed, maya brushing up against you as she walked past, or her thigh pressed up against yours as you sat together in the changing room.
others were obviously intentional - maya playing with your hair as you lay on the sofa, or placing a casual arm around your shoulder during training, maya leaning her head on your shoulder during team talks, or taking your hand to drag you around behind her. and of course, the most frequent of all, the hugs that punctuated pretty much every single interaction you had.
it would be a lie to say you didn't enjoy it, but now that you'd had to accept why each touch meant a little more, sometimes it bordered on some kind of glorious torture.
there were also other instances, where you were unsure if maya even meant the touches or not, her actions hanging precariously in the balance between conscious and absentminded. as her hand grazed the small of your back for the countless time that morning though, you were starting to suspect it wasn't all entirely accidental.
this gave way to another problem though, in that it was getting harder and harder for you to deal with, without melting each time she so much as touched you, or breathed in your direction.
it didn't help that you were starting to notice how naturally flirtatious maya could be. if you weren't certain that maya didn't have an evil bone in her body, you'd almost believe she was doing it on purpose. luckily, you knew maya was absolutely unaware of her nature, and this was just something she did with everyone. sucks for you.
the unfortunate thing about having a crush on your best friend is that you find yourself accidentally staring at them far too often. it was no surprise, then, that a lot of your free time was allocated to observing maya. any time you weren't sneaking glances at her you spent thinking of ways to make it not obvious that you were sneaking glances at her.
okay, so yes, you definitely needed to get over her, but you could allow yourself some indugences, right?
the thing was, you were starting to observe new things about maya. firstly, the way she always threw her head back when she laughed, properly laughed. secondly, the way she'd play with her ring whenever she was either nervous, or bored. and thirdly, that maya was not actually a naturally flirtatious person.
contrary to what you'd been firmly telling yourself, maya was not like this with everyone. sure she was still touchy, but the longer you watched, the more you noticed the differences in how she acted with the others, and how she acted with you.
---
the uncharacteristic spring heat clung in the afternoon air around you, disturbed only by the occasional breeze. you paused your run down the field, sensing that maya had the play under control, and had gone herself. you dropped back slightly to cover her, watching her recieve the ball and expertly pass it on to lucia, who was straight through on goal. you didn't need to hear the way the crowd exploded to know she'd scored.
you pumped your fist and watched as the girls further upfield swarmed one another, but even from where you stood you could pick out maya amongst them. you took note of the way she hugged lucia, the way she clapped the other girls on the back, filed the images away in your mind.
maya jogged back towards you, so you grinned and held out a hand to congratulate her on the assist. you noted the way her smooth palm clasped yours, and the firmness of her grasp as she pulled you into her. you'd seen how she'd hugged the others, firm and fast, clapping them twice on the back before pulling away.
the way she hugged you, the way your body slid into hers, just seemed different. this was steady, grounding. her arms seemed to envelope you, slotting you gently into place, and when she pulled away her hands lingered, fingers smoothing out your shirt collar, her touch feather-soft. it seemed like more.
you tried to ignore it, really you did, but when the final whistle blew and her hand found yours, you couldn't help but wonder. you compared the way she congratulated the others on the win, all friendly grins and joking pushes. sure, she did that with you too, but with you it always seemed a little softer, a little longer. you started to wonder if all those casual touches you'd labelled as accidental were anything but. maya didn't seem to do that with anyone else.
you must've been reading too much into it, you eventually decided. maya was probably just more relaxed around you since you were best friends. you were just getting ahead of yourself, thoughts clouded by your unhelpful crush, seeing things you wanted to see. surely.
that's what you told yourself as maya sat next to you in the changing room, her fingers brushing your thigh.
gift giving
you sighed, running your hand down your face. your thoughts had been running hard and fast since the game yesterday, and you were desperate to think of anything else. you'd spent the day trying to busy yourself, but it was a difficult feat given that you and maya had still spent the day joined at the hip.
it had been hard to not think about it when you walked the dog together and her arm kept bumping up against yours. it had been hard when you'd gone out for lunch and she'd loaded you with covert compliments. it had been even harder when she'd bought you a coffee, completely unprompted, your order memorised to a tee.
as much as you loved spending time with maya, you were somewhat grateful that she'd since headed to the shops alone, giving you a slight reprieve. it couldn't be healthy, reading far too much into situations that were clearly just based off years of friendship.
"i'm home!" the shout echoed around the flat, and you swivelled in your seat with a smile that you just couldn't help. maya dumped the bags then padded towards you. "close your eyes, i got you a present."
"should i be worried?" knowing maya she was probably about to put something absolutely ridiculous in your hands, but you dutifully did as she asked anyway.
you felt the crinkle of packaging as your hands closed around the mystery item. you opened your eyes cautiously, but your heart melted a little as you saw a packet of your favourite sweets.
"for me?" you asked, slightly confused. maya nodded, eyes sparkling, "aw thanks," your voice was genuine, if a little perplexed, "uh, why?"
maya shrugged, flopping down onto the sofa next to you, "why not?"
you smiled, glad maya couldn't see you blush. pulling the packet open, you held it out to maya, who popped one into her mouth, then leant her head against your shoulder.
---
it was a few days later that you realised the sweets weren't an isolated incident. in the past week alone she'd brought home coffee for you (three times), some chocolate you liked (twice), a new waterbottle (yours was always leaking and it was apparently 'doing her head in'), a mug that she thought you'd like, and a small stuffed crab that she said reminded her of you (that one had definitely been a dig, but you chose to ignore it). for a second you had a worry that you'd forgotten your own birthday.
it seemed like every time maya left the house, she came back with some little snack that she knew you liked, or some trinket that 'made her think of you'. she was like a fucking magpie.
you said as much to mary at lunch, maya having just deposited her protein bar that she 'didn't want' in your lap. it just so happened to be your favourite flavour.
"sorry, am i hearing things, or are you complaining about getting free food?"
"i'm not complaining! i'm just... confused," in fairness, you weren't even sure what you were confused about. mostly you just wanted to vent about your crush - without actually having to own up to the whole crush thing. "and it's not just food! yesterday we walked the dog on the beach and she kept collecting pretty stones for me,"
"well, you know, it's maya, she's not much of a talker."
"what? maya talks all the time," you looked at mary incredulously. maya had literally just been chatting her ear off.
"no, i mean she's not much of a talker," she gave you a knowing look, and you just stared back, even more confused now. mary rolled her eyes, "about her feelings, idiot."
"what's that got to do with anything?"
"god, the pair of you are as thick as each other." mary slapped your shoulder and then rose from her seat, leaving you staring after her, more lost than ever.
---
it was only when maya tried to pay for your dinner the next day, that you wondered if mary was suggesting that maya had feelings for you. you tried not to even entertain the thought, because regardless of how much you wanted it to be true, you knew it couldn't, wouldn't end well.
the smallest part of you, the sensible part, the part not yet utterly consumed by all things maya, knew that you'd only be getting your hopes up. as much as it hurt to pine after maya like this, any sort of rejection would hurt far, far more. and so, you ignored and dismissed it. there was no way that someone like maya could ever fall for someone like you.
maya's actions were purely platonic, you decided. she was a good friend, and that was the end of it. that was what you convinced yourself, that was what you repeated as a mantra every time you looked at the little crab toy that maya had placed beside your bed, 'to keep you company'.
that was what you tried your best to believe when maya came into the kitchen the next day, hands behind her back. you looked up from cooking with a soft smile and a raised eyebrow. she looked back at you, almost shyly.
"i, uh, i thought you might like these," maya didn't make eye contact with you as she thrust a modest, yet beautiful, bunch of daffodils towards you. your heart melted, and you tried desperately to not let your mind run away with itself. still though, you couldn't help it. maybe, just maybe, maya felt something for you too.
your mind lit up with possibilities, with fantasies, with dreams. maybe this was the moment you'd dreamed of. maybe she was about to confess, to ask you on a date, maybe-
"you know, for the flat," maya said hurriedly. maybe not, "the shop was uh, they were going to bin them so they were on clearance, they might be a bit manky," maya trailed off, still avoiding eye contact.
you tried not to let yourself get disappointed. this was exactly why you shouldn't get head of yourself. reaching out to take them, you smiled and inspected them. there didn't seem anything wrong with them at all.
"no, they're lovely," the emotion crept into your voice despite yourself, and you had to clear your throat, "uh, for the flat - they'll look lovely in the flat."
maya smiled and met your eyes, properly this time. for a split second the shyness was gone, just pure, honest maya. then she swallowed, turned, and hurried out the room.
acts of service
the thing about trying to get over maya, was that she made it so fucking difficult. how were you meant to forget about someone who treated you so perfectly, who could do no wrong, who regularly went out of their way to do things for you? how were you supposed to do anything other than fall in love?
so you stopped denying it, and instead you justified it. you let the full delusion of falling for your best friend overtake you, and let maya's endless perfection drag you deeper and deeper each day.
now that you'd accepted maya didn't see you like that, every day felt like a constant bombardment of kind gestures. the worst part was, you could never ever hate it. that was the thing with maya - she didn't even realise how good she was.
and so, you did the only thing you knew how to. you started to withdraw from maya. not majorly, not enough that she would notice, of course, just enough distance to give yourself a little time to get your head straight.
distance had never really factored into your close friendship before though, and maya was unwavering in her presence. it was like she had a sixth sense for when there was something weighing on you, and she made it her mission to help ease that load.
"hey, i made you a cuppa," maya knocked lightly on your open door and poked her head around. you couldn't help but smile genuinely at the gesture, "i'm doing some washing, you want me to do yours too?"
"oh, thank you, is that okay?" you asked hesitantly, and maya nodded. you slid off your bed and began to gather the dirty washing that lay strewn across your floor. you were never too great at keeping your room tidy on the best of days, but whenever your mind ran away from you, it was always the first thing to deteriorate. of course, maya knew this.
"yeah course," maya placed the tea down on your bedside table, then perched in her usual position on your bed to watch you. "you okay?"
there was a slight waver in her voice, and you could read her so well that you immediately recognised it as concern, laced with a tiny bit of anxiety. you knew maya, knew her mind would worry. you didn't want her to blame herself, and instantly you felt bad.
arms now laden with clothes, you straightened and nodded, "yeah sorry, just tired." then, seeing the soft smile on maya's face, you couldn't keep it up much longer, "i'm coming in now anyway, you want to watch something?"
maya smiled, taking the clothes from you, "sounds good, give me five minutes!"
sighing, you watched her leave. well, your plan didn't last long. picking up the tea, you followed her into the living room. distance clearly wasn't going to work.
---
"hey, maya?" you called hurriedly, rummaging through your cupboard. she hummed in response, "have you seen my-"
"your boots?" maya appeared in the doorway, holding out your shoes with a smirk, "they were dirty as hell so i cleaned them for you."
"oh," you blushed, "thank you," you took them from her, almost reverently. she was just too good for you.
"now let's go - we're gonna be late!"
you followed her out the door, taking a deep breath in. you were already stressed, you had so much to do, and if maya was going to be this sweet to you all day, you were worried you might just keel over and die.
---
"i'll make dinner tonight, okay?"
you nodded, peeling off your soaked through socks with a wince. maya sat next to you in the changing room, already showered and dressed, her hand placed comfortingly on your thigh. training, as expected, had been awful, it was cold, wet, and your mind had been occupied. you knew you'd played crap, but coach had so kindly reminded you multiple times, leaving you to run an extra few laps once training was done.
you only had yourself to blame. things with maya were just piling up, everything else seemed to be going wrong, and it was taking all your effort to keep yourself sane without upsetting her. distance might've been the easy way out, but there wasn't a chance in hell that you'd do anything to make maya feel guilty, or worried.
all you wanted was to have a warm shower, go home and collapse on the sofa, preferably next to maya. unfortunately, your agent had other plans, and you were required at some media thing before you could relax. you sighed at the thought. you had so much to do this weekend too, plus your room needed cleaning, the mess having steadily piled up from the stress of it all.
and now here was maya, ever thoughtful, offering to cook dinner, even though it was your turn tonight. she was so sweet, you could almost cry. you took a deep breath, turning to look at her.
"you're the best maya." she smiled in response, and squeezed your thigh, before standing.
"i know, now go shower, you look like shit."
only maya could pull a laugh out of you at times like this. you nodded, and dragged yourself dutifully to the shower, wishing you could fast forward the next two hours so you could just go home.
---
the media stuff, as expected, had been shit. sure, some people enjoyed that kind of thing, but to you it felt like being paraded around like a dancing bear, just being poked and prodded with sticks. okay, maybe you were exagerrating, but today had just been really, really shitty, and you wanted to go home.
you fumbled with your keys, fingers numb from the rain, before finally, thankfully, managing to push the door open. you stepped inside, soaking in the warmth, and the smell of maya's cooking. your eyes adjusted to the low, orange light, and you felt yourself relax almost immediately.
there was low music coming from the kitchen, and you could hear maya humming gently along. hoisting your heavy bag a little further up your shoulder, you elbowed open your bedroom door, before stopping in your tracks.
your eyes widened as you took in your room - what had earlier resembled a bomb site now looked cleaner than you'd ever seen it. there were even candles lit on the desk, filling the room with flickering shadow and the comforting smell of vanilla. maya's vanilla.
you heard hurried footsteps behind you, before you felt maya come to a stop behind you. you couldn't quite bring yourself to turn around, for fear of her seeing the emotion threatening to spill out of your eyes at such a small, but meaningful, gesture.
"i, um, i tidied your room for you," maya sounded tentative, nervous even. she rushed to continue. "i just knew you'd had a rough day and i know your room gets messy when you're stressed so i just wanted to help, i hope you don't mind," you didn't know what to say, it was so small, but it felt like the most thoughtful thing anyone had ever done for you.
when you didn't reply maya spoke again, quieter this time, "i'm sorry, did i do the wrong thing?"
at maya's apology, you spun to face her, rapidly shaking your head.
"no, maya, i- thank you," you rushed to placate her, not wanting her to worry. your voice was choked, full of feeling. you pulled her into a hug, and she breathed an audible sigh of relief, as though she had been expecting you to be angry.
you held on tighter than you should've. you couldn't think of any other way to convey your thanks. it was such a tiny gesture, but to you, it meant everything. after such an awful day, maya had gone out of her way just to make things a little lighter. something she knew you struggled with when you were stressed, and she'd just helped you like it was nothing. you couldn't put it into words.
you'd never felt so loved.
you paused, pulling out of the hug, deep in thought, because that was exactly it. you thought back to why you were so desperate to get over maya, driven by fear of repeating the past, full of failed relationships and heartbreak.
before, in relationships, you'd always been filled with doubt. they'd said the words, sure, but how were you ever meant to be certain that they meant them? you'd keep yourself awake at night, worrying if they were serious, until either they proved you right, or your insecurites drove them away.
but here, with maya, it felt different. all that doubt, all that insecurity, you realised you've never felt like that with maya. all of a sudden, and with some certainty, you realised you've known for quite some time.
you think back to all the gifts, all the touches, all the time and the looks, the actions and the words, and you realise there's never been any lingering doubt. maya has shown you time and time again that she loves you. now you had some catching up to do.
"hey maya?" she hums, already moving to leave your room. ordinarily, you would never have been this bold, this confident. ordinarily, you would've been twisting your fingers in anxiety, stuttering out the words. right now, however, you had never been so sure.
"i love you too."
you've said those words countless times to her, but you know it's different now. you can tell maya can tell from the tone of your voice too, because when she looks up at you there's no confusion, only eyes swimming with hope, and pure, deep, boundless affection.
you reach out and pull her towards you, so your faces are barely inches apart. her eyes flicker down to your lips, then back to your eyes.
"i um, i didn't say-" her voice is low and hoarse, and she cuts herself off, because you both know its not true. tension ripples around you, until you can't stand it. when her eyes flicker down a second time, you close the gap. her lips are soft, and she lets out a pleased little gasp as you kiss her softly.
"yeah, you did," you smile, and maya returns it, "you say it everyday."
this is actually so shit i'm sorry, the idea's been in my drafts for literal months, i wanted to do it justice bc mlt deserves all the love but i hate like at least half of this lmao it got so repetitive i'm sorry
all love, soph xx

The extrovert to my introvert
Maya Le Tissier x Reader
summary~ You met Maya when you were twelve and playing in a boys only team, she too was the only girl in her team. A year later you meet again, only now she’s your teammate at England.
Tumblr media
You’ve always loved Maya Le Tissier.
Growing up, playing in an all boys team was tough. At first they were soft with you but that changed when you started to tackle them, hard. They challenged you more and harder, they didn’t want to lose to a girl. ‘Girls can’t play football’ is the phrase you heard most growing up.
When you had a game against another team, your teammates did stick up for you. The boys from the other team would yell insults when you walked past them. Their parents were even worse, the dads yelled at their kids whenever you nutmegged them and the moms told your parents that they should take you off football.
The game almost always got a whole lot more physical after the first half. The opponent didn’t want to lose to a girl. They tried to take you out with bad tackles and tugged at your shirt until you fell down. But your teammates stood up for you. Your captain pushed the boy that took you down and even the parents of your teammates would yell at the boy and his coach for being so reckless.
You’d never played in a girls team or against a girl, really. Although it was hard playing against boys, you wouldn’t trade it for a thing. The boys were tough on you but whenever you needed them, they got your back. It had always been like this, it kept you on your toes and you preformed better because of it.
It wasn’t until you turned twelve that you played against a girl. The only girl on an all boys team, just like you.
You stared at her from the sideline, where your team was doing their warming-up. “Y/n, what’re you looking at?” your captain yelled. He took you out of your trance and you turned you head towards the warming-up again.
“You know the girl?” you asked one of your teammates that was stood next to you, stretching. He shrugged and answered, “Not really, all i know is that her name’s Maya.”.
Maya was a defender, you were a striker, you were destined to meet on the field.
Your team starts slow, and the other team scores an early goal. But you need to make an impression. As the game goes on, you notice the girl defending you, she had so much skill and isn't afraid to make a tackle. She makes it beyond hard for you to get past her.
At halftime, your team is 2-0 down, but you can't lose, not to her. In the second half, you come back stronger and harder. With fast footwork, you create opportunities. The girl is right there, trying to block your every move, but you're not giving up.
In the final minutes, it finally happens. The parents watching spur you on as you maneuver past defenders, including the girl who you've been eyeing all game. You score a goal and you run towards your teammates, but not before looking at Maya. The girl smiles, impressed by your work.
But you're not done yet. You're still one goal down, you need atleast one other goal. As the game continues, you find yourself in the perfect position.
With a well-timed shot, you score another goal, tying the game.
The match ends in a draw, but for you it felt like a little victory.
You shook the hands of your opponents, leaving one for last. The brunette walked over to you. “You played good.” she complimented. With red cheeks you responded, “Thanks, you too, you made it really tough to score.”. She laughed and walked away.
One year later you met again, at the Under 15’s for England. Maya had already made friends but you didn’t. It had always been harder for you to make friends, especially girl friends.
You were sat on a tree trunk outside. It was wasn’t really cold outside since it was still summer but it wasn’t warm either, the evening breeze making the hairs on your forearms stand up.
There you were, feeling homesick and kicking some rocks away like they were footballs.
Maya saw you sitting from inside the training center and decided to go talk to you. “Mind if i sit here?” she asked you but was already sitting next to you before you could answer. You already knew who it was. Maya started kicking rocks too, “This is kinda boring, why won’t you come inside?”. Again, you didn’t really answer and just shrugged. You didn’t move to go inside so she stayed there too, the whole evening.
She did all the talking. “I’ve never been to an England camp before, i hope we get to keep our game kits.” she rambled. She even made you laugh when she told you about the one time she ‘accidentally’ broke the nose of an opponent. Maya could talk for the both of you and you just listened.
When the England staff called the both of you inside because you needed to go to your room you said something for the first time that evening. “You’re fun, Maya.” you told her looking at your feet that were still kicking little rocks away.
“Thank you. I think you’re way better company than the other girls here, y/n.” she complimented, looking at your face that had gotten red at her compliment. She knew you weren’t much of a talker but that didn’t bother her, you’ll eventually open up.
You did open up. The two of you were polar opposites, Maya’s extroverted who loved to talk while you were an introvert who rarely talks. But even though you were so different you were inseparable from that first camp day on.
A year later, you realised that you didn’t just think of Maya as your bestfriend. She might’ve been your whole world at this point. When you weren’t at camp together you’d text or call eachother whenever you could.
You had Maya as your screensaver and laptop backgroup, a photo of the two of you next to your bed. Her Le Tissier England shirt was hung up on your wall. She made you a friendship bracelet with her intials and number on it, a red and white ‘MLT4’ rested on your wrist. You’d made her one too but messed the colours up, she still wore it though.
You laid down on your bed and looked up at the ceiling, where ofcourse was another photo of the brunette and you, at the first camp England camp.
It was at the Under-17 Euros that you confessed your crush on her. You’d just been eliminated. You had to go home. You had to go home, text or call Maya everyday pretending you were fine with just being friends and after six weeks you got to see eachother again and you’d do it all over again.
It was silent on the way back to the hotel. You didn’t say anything, she didn’t say anything. The team got out of the bus and most of the girls headed to their room.
You didn’t. You walked towards a wooden bench outside and sat down. The bench made a little sound when you sat down. The sun had long gone down and you could only think about what you could’ve done better. You could’ve passed to one of your teammates and maybe they would’ve scored.
You heard the bench make that same sound again when Maya sat down beside you. Frowning you looked up at her. The defender looked you in your eyes and sighed.
“I know it’s not the end of the world but it certainly feels like it. I mean how did we let them score that first one? I had to do better-“ she rambled like she always did. Normally you’d let her but not today. “Maya, i could’ve scored. Don’t go and blame yourself. Just like you said, it’s not the end of the world, we’re gonna be alright.” you cut her off.
She looked at you again placed her and on top of yours. “Also.. i like you Maya. Not as teammates or friends. I kind of love you, you know.” you blurted out without thinking.
Maya had to stiffle her laughter and bit her cheek. You looked up again, confused by the silence. “Why aren’t you saying anything, please say something.” you said, sounding a bit stressed.
“Y/n, that’s the most you’ve ever said to me in one time.” she laughed. You looked away with a red face. “Y/n i love you as a teammate and a friend but i’d love you even more as my girlfriend.” she said taking you by surprise.
Maya took your chin in her hands and turned your head towards hers. “I’d like to kiss you now.” she whispered softly, leaning in you kissed her. It was soft, passionate and sweet, just like her.
The two of you were girlfriends by the time the Under-19 World Cup was happening. Now that you’d both got scouted by the red side of Manchester you started living together. It wasn’t a big appartement since your parents money was still the biggest part of your income.
Maya’s dad drove you and your lover to the airport since you had to fly to Spain where the tournament was held.

The tournament went well. Maya asked you to give the girls another chance and you’d do anything for Maya so ofcourse you did. You liked Maya’s company better but this was fine too. Some of the girls were quite funny.
When you were eating dinner with some of the girls you got the best idea. Biking around for a bit in the dark and maybe even swimming in some lake would be fun. You proposed the idea to a few of the girl and they were in. But something was in the way of this brilliant plan. The staff probably wouldn’t let you go so you needed to do it in secret.
You asked the girls to meet you by the bikes at 8.
You were waiting with Maya when some of the girls joined you. The sun was going down but it was still warm since it was June and you were in Spain.

After the World Cup, where England got second, The Netherlands winning, Maya took you camping. Maya had told you all about her camping adventures with her family.
Camping in France had been a tradition in your lovers family. Every year they’d go and camp for atleast one week. Maya loved her family so she was beyond excited to take you camping with them.

Even after the World Cup, when you both got into the Senior England team you loved to travel together. Maya got to make her debut while you still had to wait. It was okay because you knew she deserved it.
At Manchester United the both of you were regular starters. When you got a professional contract for the senior team you bought your lover and yourself your own (tiny) house. It didn’t matter that it wasn’t big. You got your own space, a little home for the both of you.
When the big home Euros arrived, Maya was called up. You weren’t. Ofcourse you were heartbroken but that only made you work harder, wanting to get where your lover got.
Every England game you were sat in the stands, watching your girl play for her country.

When Maya won the Euros you screamed your lungs out. The usual quiet introvert left your body and you went crazy. Your Maya had brought it home.
When it had all sank in you got on your plane to your planned vacation. It was perfect. It was sunny and sandy and there were restaurants and little shops everywhere.

C: Cum (anything to do with cum)

D: Dirty Secret
Maya loves riding your thigh while she’s fingering you and will speed up her hips to be in time with her fingers pumping inside you

Maya is experienced but most of it was her being more submissive but with you, she’s more of a switch so she hard to learn how to be in control sometimes

Scissoring, because it means you two cum at the same time or close together
G: Goofy (Are they more serious in the moment, or are they humorous?)

Feeling your hands on her body is enough to turn her on
N: No (Something they wouldn't do)

V: Volume (How loud are they? What sounds do they make)
Maya can be quite loud sometimes

It’s on the higher side
Z: ZZZ (… how quickly they fall asleep afterward)

Christmas Market - Maya Le Tissier x Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: While at a the local Christmas Market with your siblings you run into an old friend.
A/N: Requested by an Anon. This is the final holiday fic, might also be the last fic of the year, we'll see.
Ever since you and your siblings moved away for uni, there hasn’t really been much reason for you to go home and see your parents.
To be fair, normally it’s your parents coming to see the three of you in America but for some reason, this year they insisted that you all come home to ‘preserve tradition’ or some other nonsense.
Preserving tradition is the reason why you’re currently trapezing through the local Christmas market with your brother and sister.
“Y/N, do you remember when we were like 12 or 13 and we got locked out of the house, so you climbed in through the 2nd-floor window,” your brother, Lennox, asks while walking backward.
“It happened more than once,” you say, laughing when he trips and stumbles backward.
“I remember Old Man Laurent was so angry every time he came outside to walk his dog and he’d see you on the roof,” your sister, Stevie, says, “It always turned into a lecture.” She lowers her voice to imitate your neighbor, “You damn Y/L/N triplets, just wait till I tell your parents about this.”
The three of you burst into laughter that is quickly stopped when you hear a familiar voice call out, “If it isn’t the Y/L/N triplets.”
“Hi Mr. Laurent,” the three of you say in unison, immediately moving to stand in a straight line, oldest to youngest, just like when you were kids.
“What are the three of you troublemakers doing at the market,” the elderly man asks.
“We’re gonna take a picture with Santa to surprise our mum with,” you answer.
“I suppose someone ought to warn the jolly fella then because if I recall correctly the three of you were always topping the naughty list.
“No sir,” Lennox says, “We were always perfect angels.”
“Tell that to the Jones boy, he still walks with a limp all these years later,” Mr. Laurent says while stroking his beard.
“At 18, he had no business trying to bully three 11-year-olds,” Stevie says, “Now if you don’t mind, Santa isn’t going to be here all night, I’ve heard he’s a very busy man.”
With that, your sister grabs you and Lennox by the hand and begins dragging you to join the line to meet St. Nick.
“Steve,” you begin when you’re far enough from Mr. Laurent, “Can you let go now, you’re hurting us.”
“Please,” your brother adds.
With an overly dramatic groan, Stevie lets go of your hands, much to your relief.
Unfortunately, your sister’s dramatics continue for the entire time you wait in line, but she manages to pull it together as you approach the man in the red suit.
Said man seems very shocked to see three 20-year-olds coming to take a photo with him.
“Happy Christmas, you three,” he says, “I suppose that you’ll be wanting a photo and to tell me what you want for Christmas.”
“That’s the plan, “ Lennox responds.
“And will it be one of the young ladies taking a seat on my lap?”
“No, he will,” you and your sister say simultaneously.
The man lets out a nervous laugh but doesn’t say anything as Lennox sits directly in his lap.
The photo portion is very quick but when he asks what presents you want, you get the express pleasure of watching him grow angry with each of your requests.
A weed grinder for Lennox.
A scent-proof case for Stevie.
And most importantly, flavored rolling papers for you.
“Gifts that we can share, we are triplets,” you say with a cheeky grin.
That’s the final straw for Market Santa as he all but shoves Lennox off him and sends you to collect your photos with strict instructions to not return.
As the three of you walk away, howling with laughter, you trip doing the same thing Lennox was doing earlier: walking backward.
Except instead of just hitting the ground as he did, you find yourself in the arms of the person you ran into.
Scrambling to stand under your own power, you turn around to apologize only to be stopped by your own shock.
“Hey, sorry about that,” you say before cutting yourself off, “Maya? What’re you doing here?”
“Hey y/N, long time no see,” your childhood friend says before acknowledging your siblings, “Hi Stevie and Lennox.”
“Sup Maya.”
“So L.T. what brings you back to this little island, shouldn’t you be off winning football matches somewhere,” you ask.
“Season’s on pause for the holidays,” she answers, “Besides I always come home for the holidays, it’s the three of you that don’t.”
You, Lennox, and Stevie have enough sense to look guilty.
“Well we’ve never been known for our decision-making skills,” Stevie says.
“The Y/L/N Triplets the whole island was always worried about the next thing that you would get into.”
“Well give it a couple of hours and everyone will know what we asked Santa for,” Lennox laughs.
“Oh god, was that you guys that got escorted away just now,” Maya asks with a grimace, “Wait, isn’t your family Jewish?”
“We’re under strict instructions from our lawyers to not incriminate ourselves,” you tell her, “But may if you come to get hot chocolate with us.”
“Yea, Y/N/N is paying,” your brother says from behind you, pushing your shoulder.
“Yup, my treat.”
“Well, if it’s your treat then I guess I have to come with you,” she says, sending a bright grin in your direction.
The four of you continue along the path to the hot chocolate stand, where you somewhat begrudgingly pay for your siblings’ drinks. Drinks that they annoyingly put a million extra priced additions into.
Warm beverages in hand, your small group finds an empty table to occupy.
“So outside of harassing market Santas, what have you three been up to,” Maya asks once you’re all settled, “My dad said that you guys left for uni in the States.”
“Yea, New Mexico,” Lennox says, “It sucks out there.”
“You say that every day and yet somehow I’m the only one with enough balls to drop out.,” you laugh before taking a sip of your drink.
“Ok, Y/N, sorry we can’t all be talented at punching people in the face,” Stevie snarks.
“Back up a second,” Maya says, both staving off the inevitable argument and re-inserting herself into the conversation, “Y/N, you dropped out? I thought you wanted to be a doctor?”
“School just wasn’t for me, I’m training for the UFC now.”
“More like you were irrationally heartbroken over a girl who still doesn’t know you’re in love with her,” Lennox mumbles seconds before a loud thud is heard, presumably from Stevie kicking him.
“Len, didn't you say you wanted to get your girlfriend a souvenir while we were here,” she asks him standing up.
“What? No.”
“Yes you did, come on.”
Stevie doesn’t give him much say in the matter as she actually drags him from his seat and away from the table.
After watching them walk away for a while, Maya turns back to you and speaks.
“Do they know that they’re not subtle at all or do they know and just not care?”
“Steve knows but she could not care less,” you answer, “and Len, well, he’s been dense as a crate of bricks our whole lives.”
That gets you the laugh you were hoping for, it breaks the tension and suddenly you’re 15 again, sneaking away from your siblings to watch her run circles around the boys on the local team.
“That does explain a lot of what he did while we were in school,” she says when she stops laughing, “But it doesn’t explain what he meant when he said you’re heartbroken over someone who doesn’t know that you love them.”
“I have no idea what he was talking about,” you say, feeling your cheeks heating up.
“Lennox might be dense but you’re a terrible liar.”
“So I’ve been told.”
“I’ll make you a deal,” Maya says, Leaning across the table toward you and staring directly into your eyes.
“Your mom ever tell you not to make deals with the devil?”
“She might’ve mentioned it once or twice but hear me out,” she says, “If you tell your girl how you feel, I’ll come to your first professional fight, no matter what.”
“Ok so I get to embarrass myself twice, cool but no deal,” you say, eyes still on hers, leaning forward in return.
“You’re being dramatic.”
“No, I’m not,” you retort, “What would I even say: Hey, I’ve been in love with you since we were kids. Would you let me take you on a date even though we live on different sides of the planet?”
“Yup.”
“Just like that?”
“Just like that,” she confirms.
“Alright, Maya, I’ve been in love with you since we were kids. Would you let me take you on a date even though we live on different sides of the planet?”
You can tell that you’ve caught her off guard but as she goes to respond your siblings come rushing over.
“Y/N/N, look what we found,” Lennox shouts, holding something in his hand in the space above you and Maya’s heads, “Mistletoe!”
“Do you know who you want to write your Eulogy because I’m going to,” you’re cut off by the feeling of soft lips pressing against your cheek.
Turning your head, you stare wide-eyed as Maya settles back into her seat.
“I’ll kiss you for real when you take me on a real date,” she says with a smirk settling on her face. “Tonight doesn’t count, it wasn’t planned and Stevie and Lennox were here nearly the whole time.”
“Fair enough.”

Maya fanfic part 9!
sorry I haven’t posted in awhile hopefully this long-ish chapter will make up for it🫶

-
She went back for you.
Walking back into her house she found you sat on the couch scrolling through your phone.
“Y/n i’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt you”.
“It’s fine”. You replied, staring blankly at your phone.
“No it’s not fine, I should never have done that, I wouldn’t even dream of it”.
You shrugged your shoulders.
“Please look at me”.
After a long silence, you couldn’t help but look back at her. Her face was now broken.
“I’m sorry”.
Placing your phone, you moved closer to her.
“You don’t have to forgive me, I just-“.
Cutting her off you brought her into a kiss, your hands moving over her as if you hadn’t seen each other in weeks.
She shortly gave in and kissed you back her hands however staying by her side.
Pulling away you wiped her tears from her eyes.
A small smile then displayed on her face.
“Don’t worry, I know you didn’t mean it, you were just overwhelmed and tired after a long day”.
She nodded her head, looking down.
“Come here”. You said and brought her into a hug, almost cradling her into your arms.
Letting out a sigh of relief she couldn’t help but seek comfort into you, her eyes slowly starting to close.
You pulled away and looked into her eyes, she looked so drained.
“Why don’t we head to bed”, You said, rubbing her back.
She nodded her head.
-
Putting your toothbrush back in the pot, you turned back towards the bedroom where Maya was lay.
Instead of climbing in your side you walked around the bed to her.
She was lay flat on her back looking at you.
You leant on top of her and got under the covers.
Your hand brushed a piece of hair behind her ear.
She gave you a small smile, still feeling guilty about before, she hadn’t touched you since it happened.
“I love you”. She said nervously.
“I know”, You smiled, moving your hand to hold hers.
She nodded her head, but wished she heard it back.
“Good night”. You said, kissing her cheek before turning back to your side of the bed.
“Night”, She replied tiredly.
- The next day -
Waking up you realised Maya wasn’t next to you anymore, which was strange because usually you are up before her.
Slowly you managed to get out of bed and made your way downstairs.
You found her asleep on the couch.
“Maya”. You said softly.
Her eyes started to flutter open as she took in her surroundings.
“Why are you down here?”. You asked.
“Oh um- I couldn’t get to sleep because of… my muscles as they were sore from yesterday and I didn’t want to keep waking you up if I moved about a lot”, She replied sitting up.
“You should’ve just told me, I wouldn’t mind, surely it would be more uncomfortable down here”. You said, rubbing her leg.
“Yeah sorry”. She nodded.
“You don’t need to be sorry”.
“Mhm”.
“Why don’t we just get some breakfast now”.
“Okay”.
- A few hours later -
Throughout the day you could tell Maya didn’t get much sleep last night, her eyes looked exhausted.
“I’m going to take Mocha on a walk now”.
“Should I come with you?”. You asked.
“No it’s okay”.
“Okay”. You replied, finding it odd as you usually walk her together. “I might head back to my apartment to pick up some things”.
You thought giving her some space might be best right now.
“See you later then”. She said before walking out the door.
“Bye”. You replied, watching the door close.
Sighing you tried to ignore the slight conflict between the two of you, with everything going on recently it shouldn’t be surprising, but you still disliked it.
You arrived at your apartment and went to open the door, however as you did it was already unlocked.
‘Did I not lock my door on the way out?…surely not’. You thought.
Slowly you opened the door and looked at the state of your apartment.
There was mess everywhere as if it had been ransacked and robbed.
Your breaths became heavier, trying to take everything in and thinking of all the possible ways this could happen, but it wasn’t surprising in this neighbourhood.
Walking into your bedroom you noticed, some of your most valuable jewellery had been stolen, which meant so much to you.
Tears started forming in your eyes, you throat becoming dry, as if your life had been taken right in front of you.
Your first thought was to call Maya, but you didn’t want to give her any more stress so you called the police first.
“An officer will be with you shortly”.
‘Yeah right’. You thought to yourself.
- An hour later -
The temptation to call Maya was now killing you, as you lay on your couch still not believing what was right in front of your eyes.
But then you heard a knock on your door.
Quickly you opened it to a police officer.
“Did this robbery happen today?”. He asked, sitting down on the couch next to you.
“I’m not sure”. You replied.
“Why not?”.
“For the past four days i’ve been staying at some one else’s house”.
“Whose house?”.
“My girlfriend’s”.
“Right”. he said giving you a weird look. “Do you think she had anything to do with it?”.
“No, she would never, I was to staying there because I had a concussion so I had to rest and not move too much”.
“How did you get this ‘concussion’?”.
“I play football for Man united so in a game I collided with the opposition when trying to get the ball and hit the back of my head on someone’s knee”.
“Oh wow I didn’t know that, I support them as well”.
You nodded your head.
“Well we’ll get an investigation team round and check some CCTV and see what we can do for you, do you have any idea of who could’ve done this?”.
“Yes…yes I do”.
- A few hours later -
“Do you have anywhere else to stay whilst we conduct this investigation?, it could take awhile”.
“Ugh yeah”.
“Okay we’ll give you a call in a few hours”.
You nodded your head but reluctantly headed to the car to get back to Maya’s house.
Stepping out the car you took a deep breath, hoping Maya would feel better now.
You knocked on the door and not long after she answered.
“Hi…what’s wrong?”. Is the first thing she asked, she could probably tell something had happened due to the look on your face.
“My um….my apartment got robbed”. You said, brushing a hand over your head walking past her.
“Wait what?”. Maya said worriedly, closing the door behind you.
“Everything I have is basically gone”. You said, putting you head in your hands as you sat on her couch.
“Oh my God”. She exclaimed, sitting next to you.
“I don’t know what to do?”. You said, tears started forming in your eyes, you didn’t feel like crying before but now seeing Maya everything hit you all at once.
“Hey, hey i’m sure we’ll find who is responsible and we’ll get your things back… when did find out?, you were gone awhile”.
“Three hours ago”. You whispered.
“Three hours! why didn’t you tell me?”.
“I didn’t want you to worry”.
She then held your face and wiped the tears from your eyes.
“I was worried that you wouldn’t forgive me”.
“May, of course I forgive you”.
She nodded her head.
“The police are investigating my apartment now so hopefully they find something”.
“Good I’m sure they will, do you have any idea who did this?”.
“My guess is…your ex”.
“I wouldn’t call it that, we were barely together”. She said looking down.
“Yeah, yeah sorry. I just think that because whenever i came back from walking Mocha on my own she was always in the window watching me as if she wanted to know my location all the time”.
“Really?”. She sternly said, looking back at you.
You nodded your head.
“I swear if she’s done this i’m actually going to kill her”.
“I’ll help you”. You joked.
Maya shook her head sighing.
“What?”.
“I’m sorry”.
“Why?”.
“It’s my fault for bringing you into all this mess, I should have seen this coming and moved out a long time ago”.
“You wouldn’t have know she would do this”.
“That doesn’t matter, I should have protected you”.
“Let’s move then”.
She looked back up at you.
“Let’s move in together and get a new house far away from here”.
“Are you sure?”. She asked.
“Yes, as long as i’m with you”.
“What about money?”.
“I’ll just take out a loan and pay it back”.
“Okay, as long as you’re ready”. She said, cupping your cheek.
“I’m ready”.
She leant in towards you and her lips met yours, you pulled your bodies closer together until you heard your phone ringing.
Pulling away you sighed.
“You should come back to your apartment, we’ve found something”.
After the call you asked “Do you want to come with me?”.
“Yes”, Maya replied, smiling.
When you got to your apartment you were shown CCTV of a man parking outside your building who you haven’t seen before.
The police spotted that he was wearing a balaclava and carrying a rucksack. He exited the building his backpack noticeably heavier and ran back to his car.
The car was traced back to Maya’s neighbour.
Maya explained the situation about her neighbour and she was charged with sexual assault and conspiracy to steal.
You and Maya watched her arrest as she was taken from her home with relief, and she denied everything which wasn’t surprising.
Half of your belongings were found in her home and the other half she would most likely have sold.
For now you were back in Maya’s house the rest of your stuff that wasn’t stolen was now in boxes and you put your apartment on the market.
- A few days later -
It was now match day against Durham in the conti cup and you were sat on the bench next to Maya give you both a break, you didn’t want to make it too obvious something had happened so it was best if you were still present.
In the 80th minute Thorisdottir got injured so Maya was called upon.
It was still 2-1 to united in the 90th minute however there was 5minutes injury time.
In more or less the last kick of the game Durham managed to get a late equaliser from a corner sending the game to penalties.
United missed the first two and Durham scored three so to keep them in it they had to score.
It was Maya who came up to take the last penalty. But the keeper saved it.
Her head hung down as she walked back towards her teammates but on the way as the Durham players ran to her goalkeeper one of them ran into Maya.
She pushed her to the ground agitated by it which led to Durham players pushing her back as she tried to walk away.
The referee made a barrier between them and she managed to walk back to the others.
After the group huddle Maya walked straight to the dressing room, still filled with frustration.
You sat down next her and tried to comfort her.
“Maya it’s not your fault”.
She shook her head.
Shortly we got on the coach and started the two and half hour journey back home.
Looking over to Maya you noticed she still looked so drained. You reached for her and held it.
She turned to you giving you a small smile and leant her head on your shoulder.
- A few hours later -
Entering Maya’s house you placed your bags to the side. Mocha wasn’t there to greet you as she was at her parents house.
Soon after you went up to bed and wrapped your arms around her making her fall backwards with you on top of her.
This made her face light up as she giggled and wrapped her arms around you back.
After a long day you quickly fell asleep.
-
- The next day -
Waking up you turned to Maya who was still peacefully asleep, you picked up your phone and decided to make a Pinterest board on different types of house you could get.
“Morning”, Maya said tiredly.
“Good morning”, You replied with a smile.
“How long have you been up for?”.
“fifteen minutes, currently making a Pinterest board on different styles of houses we could get”.
“Sounds good”, She replied, rubbing her eyes.
You then proceeded to show her your ideas.
“Very nice”. She said, but it sounded sarcastic.
“Do you not like them?”.
“Yes I do, sorry i’m just tired”.
“It’s okay”.
She then sat up and placed a kiss on your cheek.
“I’m quite hungry now”.
“Okay let’s get some breakfast then”, You replied putting your phone to the side.
- A few hours later -
“Do you want to go out for lunch?”, Maya asked as you stood in her kitchen deciding what to eat.
“Where to?”.
“Maybe a cafe nearby”.
“I think we still have some bread that needs eating by today”. You replied, but you said that as you wanted to save as much money for the house.
“Oh okay, t-that’s fine”.
“Sorry, I just want to save some money”.
“No I completely understand, don’t worry”.
You nodded your head.
She picked you up and placed you on the counter.
“If you’re worried about money, or anything, just know i’m always here to help you”. She said holding your hands.
“I know”. You replied nodding your head.
She leant in and placed a soft kiss on your lips.
You brought her face further forwards you and kissed her with more intent.
She smirked into the kiss and moved her hands around your body.
With ease she lifted your top above you so she could feel more of you.
You did the same for her and brushed your hands down her back, soon going further down where your fingers moved around the rim of her shorts.
Her breaths became heavy as you continued attacking her lips.
She then picked you up by your hips and carried you towards the couch.
Placing you down and leaning over you she moved her kisses to your neck biting softly as she tried to regain some oxygen.
Her fingers trailed further and further down as she reached your shorts and she pulled them down with one hand, her other unclipping your bra.
Her mouth then moved to your stomach and your nails slightly dug into your back as you took everything in.
However as she was about to get to where you wanted her the most there was a knock on the door.
Her head quickly shot up and her face filled with worry, her cheeks turning slightly red.
“Fuck I bet it’s Mocha with my parents”.
“Oh shit”, You said sitting up, putting your shorts back on.
You quickly tried to reach for your bra that had somehow ended up behind the couch as Maya rushed to the kitchen for your shirts.
Following behind her you found it difficult to clip up your bra, as panic set in you.
She struggled as well but it finally managed to fasten.
As soon as the front door opened you just managed to get your shirt on in time, checking one more time you did actually have clothes on.
From the front door there was a straight shot into the kitchen so Maya’s parents saw you instantly.
You awkwardly smiled as her parents started walking down the corridor.
“Did you not hear me knock on the door?”. Her mum asked.
“No, we didn’t sorry”, Maya replied still catching her breath.
You looked over to her and her lips now looked slightly swollen due to the constant movement all over you, your lips felt the same.
“How come?”. Her dad asked.
“Oh um, the kettle was on”.
“Where are your mugs?”.
“We haven’t got them out the cupboard yet”, She replied nervously, looking over to you and then the counter.
“Okay would you mind making me some tea”, Her dad asked before walking into the living room, basically giving her no choice.
“Yep”. She replied.
Her mum then followed behind him.
“Could you maybe distract them whilst I boil the kettle, like turning the tv on loud”.
“Of course”, You replied, rubbing her arm.
As soon as you entered the lounge you noticed the pile of cushions that were pushed on the floor not long ago.
“Oh sorry”, You said, picking them up and putting them back on the sofa.
“It’s okay, have you been up to much today?”, Her mum replied.
“No not really”.
You then scoured the room for the remote and noticed it was in her dads hands, this meant you couldn’t change the volume without making it awkward.
The kettle could then be heard from the kitchen.
“I thought you’d already boiled the kettle”. Her dad said.
“We um…didn’t put enough water in”. You gulped.
He nodded his head in response.
Shortly Maya came in with cups of tea for her parents.
“I’ll come and get mine”, You said, quickly getting up walking into the kitchen.
As you got to the counter you held onto it, you couldn’t help but still feel turned on and deprived of Maya’s touch.
You then felt arms wrap around you.
“I’m sorry love, i’ll have to finish you later”, Maya whispered in your ear, this made things worse.
She then picked up her tea and walked back into the lounge.
Sighing you did the same, trying to shake away the feelings.
After a good half an hour of talking Maya’s parents finally decided to leave.
They said their goodbye’s and got in their car going back home.
As soon as the door closed Maya turned to you with a smile.
You instantly walked up to her and held her hips.
She wasted no time and met her lips with yours trailing kisses down your body which she knows you love.
Then she was on her knees directly in front of you holding on to the rim of your shorts.
“You sure?”. She asked.
“Yes”, You replied, with heavy breaths, you’ve been needing her to do this half an hour ago...
Wiping her mouth, she got back up with a smirk on her face.
Leaning in you brought her back into a kiss.
Your fingers trailed down her but she held it moving back up to her shoulder.
“Do you not want me to”.
“it’s fine..” She slightly stepped away. “I don’t deserve it”. She whispered.
“Oh okay”, You replied.
“I-it’s not because of you, you’re so good at it…I just feel guilty about-“.
You then covered your hand over her mouth.
“Maya it’s not your fault”.
She shook her head.
“You deserve everything”, You said, dropping your hand back down.
“Mhm”. She replied, looking down.

can you write more about maya le tissier?
rumours - maya le tissier

description: in which you are in a secret relationship, fans and your own teammates speculating whether you and your ‘best friend’ are dating or not
warnings: swearing
a/n: IM A BIG MAYA STAN OMG THANK YOU FOR THE REQUEST ❤️
⋆ ★ ⋆ ★ ⋆ ★ ⋆ ★ ⋆
you and your girlfriend, maya wouldn’t necessarily say your relationship was a secret, rather, private. you and maya originally started being friends in the england youth teams, being the best of friends while playing for different clubs but being finally reunited at manchester united.
you and maya had always been extremely affectionate towards each other, even through your friendship. everyone back then always questioned whether the two of you were dating when you were just friends, but the two of you would claim you weren’t together. and so, when you did start dating, you’d both assumed people would catch on but clearly not, having previously heard your rejection to the idea of the two of you being anything but best friends, people just didn’t ask anymore.
fans constantly edited the two of you together, multiple social media accounts dedicated to your relationship while people tried to pry into whether the two of you were dating. you and maya were private people and liked to keep it that way..well, you tried, at least.
during time at manchester united and the lionesses, the two of you were always seen together. you arrived together at camp, you trained together, you ate together, you roomed together - the two of you were inseparable. but the thing is, you’d always been like this, your teammates thinking absolutely nothing of it, none of them knew you were dating. not even your roommate, millie knew you were dating, even when maya was at your house every other day.
you were both currently getting some snacks for the bus on your way to game day for the lionesses, it was an away game so you’d had to leave early from the hotel to make time for training before the match. maya got you both some warm drinks, a cold morning that both of you didn’t enjoy.
as you waited, maya held you from the back, her arms wrapped tightly around your waist as her head rested on your shoulder, she lightly swayed you from side to side. both of you were smiling softly at the embrace, keeping you both warm.
your manchester teammates, millie and ella walk past you with teasing grins. “oh you cuties, so in love!” they meant this jokingly - not even they knew you were dating, you both smiled at them, maya leaning into you further before letting go to retrieve your drinks.
“be careful, baby, it’s hot” she hands you your drink and you smile appreciatively, giving your girlfriend a sweet kiss on her cheek before walking towards the bus. leah and alessia had watched the entire interaction, looking at each other with questioning expressions before dismissing it quickly, leah would be sure to ask the manchester girls if you two were dating, already assuming the answer that the two of you were just friends.
stationed at the door of the bus, the social media manager was filming the arrivals, your arms were interlinked with maya’s as you approached the bus, throwing a charming smile to the camera.
maya laughs when you lightly trip over your own feet, catching you before you could even stumble any further. “please tell me you caught that” she giggles at the camera, looking at you affectionately when you glare at her. she places a hand on the small of your back and directs you to your usual spot, the middle-back of the bus to be exact.
once you’re situated, you place your head on her shoulder as the both of you lightly chat, talking about random topics and giggling with each other like lovesick idiots.
once you arrived at the pitch, maya held your hand as she dragged you off the bus, claiming she needed to stretch her legs. your teammates watched as the two of you walked past them hand in hand, giving each other looks and shrugging at each other, a few of them made it their mission to figure out if you were dating or if you at least had feeling for each other just as friends.
during training, you partner up, barely keeping your hands off each other. the two of you genuinely had people confused, a huge debate sparking between the lionesses when the two of you weren’t there in the change rooms, (you were making out in the tunnel, literally anyone could’ve seen you if they just went outside).
“nah, they’re not dating, (y/n) lives with me, i think i’d know if they’re dating” millie scoffs, leah immediately rebuttals. “okay, well, less and i heard maya call (y/n) baby and then (y/n) kissed her on the cheek!” leah exclaims, alessia nodding along with her words, “yeah, it’s true!” alessia adds with a proud grin.
“oh whatever! friends do that!” millie defended, ella throws her arm around the girl to back her up, “they’re just friends, we just like to take the piss out of them” ella laughs along with millie.
meanwhile, you and maya were lazily making out in the hallway just outside the change room. maya firmly pressed you against the wall as your lips moved together in a sweet kiss, you hum into her and smile into her lips, this girl had you wrapped around her finger, you the same for her.
you pull away reluctantly at hearing the debate growing louder and louder. maya chasing your lips for a couple of sweet pecks before finally pulling away, holding you to her closely. “are they seriously doing this right now” you groan, thumping your forehead onto her chin and wrapping your arms around her neck to pull her into a hug.
she dips her hands into your jersey and runs them over the skin of your back. she hums at your words, “how do they not know we’re dating?” maya says in disbelief, placing a kiss on your cheek as she pulls away from you, the both of you needed to go back in.
“do we tell them?” you question, gripping maya’s bicep as you held onto her, “let’s just be us and see if they’re bright enough to figure it out” maya winks and you throw her a cheeky grin, nodding and leaning up to place a final kiss on her lips before walking back to the change room.
when you open the door, everyone’s head snap towards you, “hiya” you say brightly, a few of the girls trying not to laugh at your random response, maya not holding back and just giggling at you, her hands planted on your waist as she directs you to sit in her cubby.
they all watch as you place your legs into her lap, both of you talking quietly while maya runs her hands over the skin of your thighs. all of them looking at each other challengingly, you and maya putting on a show to really confirm your relationship but so many of your teammates just didn’t know.
it was game time, you and maya were on the bench. maya had told you to put on two jackets because it was too cold but you just wouldn’t listen. so when your girlfriend sees you shivering next to her, she can’t help but shake her head at your stubbornness.
she looks at you with a mocking grin, “shut up, le tissier” you grumble and she looks at you in disbelief, “did you just last name me, baby?” she hissed, you can’t help but smirk and shrug at her, she just laughs at your reaction. “are you cold?” she teased with a grin, you just shake your head at her, “no” you’re lying through your chattering teeth, you were freezing.
she quickly squeezes your thigh before hurriedly sprinting off to the change room, coming back with a puffer in her hands. you smile at her lovingly as she holds it out to you, helping you into it and zipping it up. you didn’t see the puffer you were wearing, unaware that ‘le tissier’ was displayed on your back for everyone to see, not that you cared, the two of you always shared clothes, the fans having an absolute field day with it.
with another win for england, the two of you walk towards the girls, clapping them on the back and giving hugs of congratulations. when people see the name on your back, the looks at each other start again, mainly the challenge of leah and alessia vs millie and ella.
“jacket” leah mouths to the pair but they just wave her off, friends always shared jackets. you and maya do a lap around the pitch, her arm around your shoulder as the two of you take pictures and give signatures to everyone.
when you’re done, you see maya giving her final signature and when she’s about to walk away, you jump onto her back, she immediately catches you by your thighs and smiles at you affectionately, running off to the change rooms. leah smirks at millie, millie just shakes her head at leah, “i’ll believe it when i see it, williamson”
by the time camp was over, you’d gone back to manchester. you’d spent the entire day with maya at her house, cuddling and watching movies. it had gotten really late and you both had training tomorrow, you would’ve stayed over but you thought you should go home so you could carpool with millie in the morning, having not spent time with her that day. and so, she drove you home and walked you to your door, stopping out the front.
when you moved in with millie, she insisted the two of you should get a ring camera, just for safety. you always forgot about it, millie checks it constantly claiming she cared about you and her safety.
when maya stops you at your door, she pulls you into a loving kiss, you lips moving together sweetly before she slips her tongue into your mouth, turning a little heated as you whine into her mouth. you pull away reluctantly, giving her multiple kisses all over her face, finishing off with a gentle one to her lips before quickly hugging her goodbye.
“i love you, baby” maya smiles at you, holding both of your hands, “i love you too, maya baby” you smile back adoringly, kissing her sweetly one more time as you wave her off. you enter the house with pink cheeks, heading to your room completely giddy, this girl had such an affect on you.
you and maya slept easy that night, whenever you saw each other it was just pure serotonin for the both of you. until the next morning when you awoke to over 99+ messages on your phone from the lioness group chat, you couldn’t help but think the worst.
you’re eyes widen when you see the topic of the group chat. millie had sent the video of you and maya saying goodbye to each other the night before, your eyes slightly widened. under millie’s video, she messaged. “well, leah, i told you i’d believe it when i see it and you were definitely right, i owe you $20” to which leah replied, “i fucking knew it, those little shits were dating the whole time” the whole group chat was blowing up, messages of “i knew it” and “no way” imbued in the chat.
you type out a quick, “we thought you all knew in our defence” maya quickly adds on, “took you all two years but whatever” the group chat blowing up again, you couldn’t help but laugh before millie bursts into your room, tackling you to your bed and play fighting with you.
“you’re a little shit! i was defending you and maya with my life saying you were just friends cause that’s what you told me!” both of your laughters completely filling the room. “i’m sorry! i’m sorry!” millie just laughs, getting off you and hurrying you to get dressed for training.
when you get there, maya was waiting for you in your cubby, standing up immediately when you enter the change room, holding her arms out for you with a soft smile. you walk into her embrace, breathing in her scent and holding her tightly. “at least they all know, love” maya giggles and you just nod, “they all know” you mirror her tone mockingly, to which she lightly pinches your hip.
millie walks in after you, “you’re not off the hook, le tissier” she points an accusing finger at you and your girlfriend and she nods in response, moving to sit down with you in her lap. she looks at you warmly, her smile still giving you butterflies. you lean into place a sweet kiss on her lips, and when you pull away, you hear some of your manchester teammates gasp, “you’re dating?!”

Could you write for maya le tissier please halloween addition where trick or treaters come but maya has nothing for them but reader comes to the rescue
trick or treat II m.le-tissier
"is that yours going?" you glanced up from your textbook at your sister who was frowning at you from her place on the sofa. "no?" you shook your head at the ringing which filled the living room. "well it's not mine! didn't you just change the tone?" mary questioned.
"no? why would i do that?" you scoffed, dropping your gaze back to your textbook to study. "because your little girlfriend said it was the same tone as her alarm!" mary huffed, throwing a cushion in your direction, eyes narrowing as yours widened and you hurried to your feet.
"see! idiot." mary mumbled, attention falling back to her show as you sprinted into the kitchen where your phone was on charge. "i heard that! feel free to go back to your own home mary." you warned, your sister only using you for your prime account which you refused to give her the password to.
"alright alright! no need to be hasty with it." mary held up her hands in surrender. "hello?" you grabbed your phone on the last ring, clutching at your chest, not even having checked who was calling you.
"i need help!" you frowned hearing the panicked voice of your girlfriend. "why what happened? are you hurt? do i need to call an ambulance?" you asked, mary glancing over to you with a concerned frown.
"no! i'm being held hostage in my own home!" maya hissed quietly and you heard a thump. "what! hang on i'm calling the police." you put her on speaker and gestured for mary to hand you her phone.
"what? no i don't need the police! i'm being held hostage by angry children." maya huffed as you scrunched your face up in confusion, waving away an equally confused looking mary who offered you her phone.
"wait did you just go for a run or something? why are you panting? you sound like murphy." maya changed topic swiftly. "may focus! i need a bit of context to this hostage and children situation please." you sighed tiredly at her lack of explanation.
"oh! well obviously i forgot that it's halloween and all these kids keep turning up and i haven't gone shopping so i told them they could have an apple? and now they won't leave till i give em a chocolate or something!" maya rambled and your frown immediately switched to a grin as you bit your lip to stop laughing, covering up your half giggle with a cough.
"babe it's not funny! they won't leave and i heard one of them mention getting eggs." she whined in annoyance. "so you're telling me that you're allowing yourself to be bullied by children? because you offered them apples....on halloween." you repeated slowly, shit eating grin only growing as mary started to laugh loudly from the living room at your word.
"nah stop taking the piss this is serious! i don't want my house or my car egged!" she groaned in annoyance, and you heard a gasp and a few more thumps. "oh my god they're banging on the door again i think its a new group, they're creating alliances and forming a small army help me!" she again hissed as you shook your head.
"and how would you like me to do that my love? come and scare the big bad kiddies away for you?" you mocked sarcastically, pulling yourself up to sit on the counter. "woman i swear to god-" maya began to warn as you heard some movement and rustling.
"go to the shops and bring me some chocolate or something to give them as a peace offering!" she ordered with a huff. "may, baby its halloween there isn't a chance in hell i can get chocolate at....nine fourteen at night. they'll leave eventually i'm sure it's almost past their bedtime!" you teased, moving to rummage through your own cupboards.
"oh my god they threw an egg, babe they threw an egg at my window the little shits!" she scoffed with a gasp. "and you want to reward that with chocolate? call the police to disperse them if you're that worried." you laughed, finding what you were looking for and dropping it in your lap.
"no! i don't want to get the reputation as the cranky old woman who hates children and hates halloween or as the health nut who offers apples. god i would have egged my house too at their age!" she moaned in realization as you unwrapped a twirl, popping it into your mouth.
"are you seriously...did you just open a chocolate?" your girlfriend accused as you hummed happily. "mm, twirl." you answered with a mouthful as again she gasped.
"oh you dickhead! come bring me some fucking chocolate i know you've always got some i've seen the period drawer, hell i fill it up every month for you!" your girlfriend demanded and you couldn't argue that point, the brunette nothing but the biggest sweetheart when it was that time of the month.
"say please and maybe i'll consider it." you wound her up, hearing another thump which you assumed to be yet another egg hauled at the poor girls house, already moving off the counter to gather your supplies as you squished the phone between your shoulder and ear.
"please. but hurry!" she groaned and before you could say another word she'd abruptly hung up. "do i even want to know the details?" your sister grinned as you hung your bag over your shoulder and rolled your eyes with a shake of your head.
"i expect you out of my house by the time i get back." you warned, shoving her head and darting back as the older girl lunged for you. "please! like you'll be coming back." mary chuckled and stretched out more on your sofa, making herself comfortable.
"go home!" you warned again, smacking her in the face with the cushion she'd thrown at you earlier and heading for the door.
"i am half way through this season of real housewives i can't stop now! kicking your own flesh and blood out onto the cold dark sidewalk, you're a disgrace to the earps family name." mary yelled after you with a shake of her head.
"and you're a thirty year old mooching freeloader who won't cough up an extra twelve dollars a month for her own subscription, get out!" you laughed, closing the front door before you could hear her reply, already certain you'd return and she would just be passed out on the lounge as always.
~
under strict instruction from the brunette you'd parked in the street behind her house, letting yourself into her backyard through the back fence, armed with a bag full of lollies and a very amused smile.
you spotted your girlfriend sat on the floor behind her sofa, glancing over the top toward her front door and windows which she'd drawn the curtains over making you roll your eyes.
you knocked suddenly at the back door as you heard claws skidding over toward you and maya jumped about a foot in the air at the noise. though seeing it was only you she hurried to her feet, pushing murphy out of the way with her foot as she slid the door open and hastily pulled you inside.
"trick or treat!" you teased, handing her the bag and leaning in to kiss her only for her to duck around you. "were you seen? followed?" she questioned in a whisper as you rolled your eyes. "no! for god sakes may they're kids, they have to be about ten years old i drove past them." you laughed as she nodded and moved to the kitchen.
"okay, off you go!" she dumped the confectionery into a bowl and held it out to you expectantly. "no! this is your problem to fix baby, i only agreed to bring you supplies." you held your hands up and stepped back as she groaned and smacked the bowl back down on the counter.
"they'll eat me alive after i offered them apples, or they'll egg me. please!" she begged as you firmly shook your head. "and you'd rather they egg me? thanks a bunch." you scoffed.
"no! you're too gorgeous baby, they'll be so dazzled by englands star striker handing them some chocolate they'll take it and be on their merry way!" she smiled charmingly, which normally would work however tonight you held firm.
"rehearsed that little speech before i got here did you?" you sighed, sitting down on the arm of her lounge. "baby! please." she knocked your legs apart and stood between them, the taller girl pouting adorably.
"no! may the more time you spend whining to me the more eggs they're gathering to throw." you smiled making her throw her head back with a groan. "but they haven't met you, and like i said you're just so gorgeous, and kind, and sweet, and funny." tucking her head into your neck you felt her lips start to kiss a trail down the column of your throat with each compliment she threw your way.
"and i'll make it worth your while love, scouts honour." she switched tactics, pushing you back onto the lounge and smiling down at you suggestively.
"you weren't a scout." you teased with a wink as she smacked your leg playfully. "i still know my way around a rope and some knots baby, happy to show you later if you do this teeny little favor for me." she smirked which did have some affect on you as your cheeks flushed bright red.
"no! just go and get it over it." you declined again, pushing her away with your foot as she moaned dramatically, stomping over and grabbing the bowl with a huff. "will you at least come with me?" she requested to which you nodded and hauled yourself up.
"go on." you nudged her in the back as she hesitated by the door, sighing and yanking it open. "peace offering. you all stop the eggs, i'll make sure i have chocolate next year!" she called out to the small group of children huddled on her lawn.
"correction you all clean up the eggs and then you get the chocolate, and we don't find out who you all are and call your parents about this vandalism." you stepped out and warned more sternly, a few of the older ones sharing a look.
ducking back inside you grabbed some paper towel and multipurpose spray, tossing them onto the grass and fixing those who hadn't run off with a hard look as they hurried to start wiping down your girlfriend's windows.
with that maya left the bowl on her door step, gently pushing you inside and closing the door, making a point to dead lock it after her. "you're gonna be a top mum one day babe." the taller girl grinned, hands moving to grab your hips as you hummed, returning her smile.
"you're welcome baby. now what was that you said about making it worth my while?"

captain boyfriend maya who’s very levelheaded calm and doesn’t get involved on the pitch, until you get knocked down and suddenly she’s protective guard dog maya
a/n: captain maya 😩🫨🫨
-
maya is a defender.
both on, and off the pitch.
shes a protector by nature and its what makes her a good captain.
she's quick to jump to her teams defence after a tackle- that definitely should be booked.
she's levelheaded and calm when she's got opposing players screaming in her face about a tackle she did.
she never fights back- physically or verbally.
she doesn't like to get involved.
you balance each other out- total opposites.
you're a bit hot-headed, quick with insults, that have the team cracking up and rolling on the floor when you retell what happened, and always somehow on the refs bad side.
_
maya watches from the back line as always.
she frowns a little at the second time you get taken down.
but just as quickly, your standing up, brushing yourself off- and your yelling at the player who pushed you.
shooting maya a smile and thumbs up when the ref pulls out a yellow for the other player.
the game only seems to get more violent- each team desperate to break the 1 - 1 deadlock.
then, the ball's turned over- and you've clearly got a straight shot, and you take it. sprinting with the ball down towards the goal.
you're only focused on how to get past the keeper, that you dont see the player sliding in from the side.
she misses the ball and takes out your legs- and your falling down, your head thumping to the ground.
maya stops for a moment- you'll get up, you always do.
but seconds go by, but it feels like hours- your face is still hidden in the pitch.
then, medics are running on- and maya's feet carry her without thinking.
within seconds shes pushing the player that tackled you- shoving her back and yelling in her face.
all she can see is the tackle- playing over and over in her mind.
an arm wraps around her and she struggles against it.
"let me go!"
"maya baby- calm down, im okay."
maya whips around at the sound of your voice, noticing the bandage around your head.
your smiling at her- hand gently holding hers still.
"see- im all good."
you gesture to yourself with a grin.
maya pulls you into a hug- and you wrap your arms around her just as tight.
"that was hot by the way."
you whisper it to her before she can pull away.

Thinking of writing for Englands u-23s, but would anybody be interested?
Like Emily Orman, Maya Le Tissier, Grace Clinton, all the kids? I’ve already wrote a bit for some of the Germans and other WSL players but like I wasn’t sure about the younger players.
If you have anybody you want to see let me know? Or prompts or drabbles, for anyone really? I’m trying to get a feel of who everybody wants to see the most.
