All of my wounds are from love, Maliheh Zafarnezhad
photo transfer, thread and acrylic on canvas This artwork is a part of series of poetic images of women whose depicted sorrows are reflecting their femininity; women who pay too much to protect their identities, love and bodies. Small size of the works stress female’s delicacy, and photo transfer technique is helping to creating an image closer to reality. Stitches which are covering some parts of the body or face are speaking of introspective pains that women may endure during their lives. Simple background also emphasizes the shape of female’s bodies.

Her name is Andrea, Maliheh Zafarnezhad
In this work, a set of ten paintings , it has been tried to focus on a portrait/figure painting style of persons from different nationalities, blended by representative cultural patterns and shape-based Persian calligraphy decorated by Persian poets or a description of the painter’s knowledge, feeling or experience about the “girls she knows”. The exhibition also tries to seek a proper way to represent the painter’s experience as a foreigner in a new world with different culture and life style. To do this technically, a set of tuned, well-known patterns mostly common in Iran has been used using acrylic. Mixing with Persian words strongly reflects the painter’s introspective study of cultural differences while pursuing a technique to deform the words on the body of objects in some works.

Mum - Limited Edition 1 of 1, Maliheh Zafarnezhad
This work is apart from a series called The Reminiscence. They emerged from my personal life and family background. The stories behind the creation of this series, and within it, are drawn from my family album photographs, and the curiosity about what my parents were experiencing before I was born. I often incorporate recollections of my early childhood memories and the photographs in relationships with them.
