On the night of the bonfire, The Pallbearer was not yet a student at St. Augustine. They would transfer to the school the following year.

It was fate that led them to cross paths with The Meteorite and The Analyst; the three of them have unofficially teamed up in their hunt for answers, hoping to discover the truth of what really happened that night in the woods. But though The Pallbearer’s connection to The Good Samaritan makes their motives transparent, the same can’t be said for the other two. They’re starting to wonder why they care so much, when no one else seems to.

There are people at school who treat them kindly, but carefully, like something fragile with cracks running through it. Not so with The Jester; their kindness takes the form of easy, amusing companionship without all the tip-toeing that The Pallbearer has become accustomed to. Even when they’re not in the mood to laugh, they appreciate having The Jester around.

They are getting some mixed signals from The Wallflower. It seems like the other student has been going out of their way to seek out The Pallbearer’s company, and in turn, they’ve begun to think that The Wallflower is interested in something more than friendship. But whenever The Pallbearer has tried to broach the topic or make a move of their own, The Wallflower does what they do best-- they disappear.
