Uenoyama Ritsuka x Sato Mafuyu

A/N: I'm back from vacation so I'm planning to write for the next days! (I'll probably also write the ones I didn't last week dkdkf) also we have a short one todaaay

"M-Mahafuyu! P-Plehehease, just n-not thahAHAHAT!" 

Uenoyama could barely understand what was going on. As soon as he stepped inside the house, Mafuyu had jumped on him, tackling him to the wooden floor as he made the strangest growing sounds ever. Uenoyama, although he was ashamed to admit it, had screamed at the attack and as he tried to shake Mafuyu off of him, surprised and confused laughter had begun to escape his mouth. 

"I'm a zombie," Mafuyu said between growls as he playfully nibbled at Uenoyama's ribs. "And I'm going to eat you."

Uenoyama's cheeks flushed as he laughed, trying to push Mafuyu's head off his ribs. He still couldn't figure out how small nibbles could make him laugh so much, but Mafuyu had found those ribs that made him see stars every time Mafuyu tickled him there.

"N-NOHAHAHA!" Uenoyama cackled, tears of laughter clinging to his lashes. 

"Shush, you don't let me eat here."

"It's not- AHAHAHA! Nohohot uhuhuhundeheher!" He shrieked when Mafuyu sneaked his head to nibble at his bare ribs and part of his stomach. 

It seemed he was really going to die by a zombie tickling- no, eating him alive!

oh how I miss these two so much

I've been rewatching given today and these guys have been consuming my every thought.

So I just read the last chapter of Given and

WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITHOUT MY ONCE EVERY 2 MONTH MENTAL BREAKDOWNS NOW!!?? I've been following Given since my second year of highschool I can't move on it's literally a part of my soul!

I'm gonna be spending the next 5 days listening to Fuyu No Hanashi and Yoru Ga Akeru on loop and cry

God I hope there's an epilogue with a time skip just to see them again please it's crucial to my mental health and stability

I’m not sure if there is already an answer to this. But do you think Uenoyama has like a hero complex or something? Why does he feel responsible for Mafuyu’s moods? I get that we don’t want to see our loved ones be sad but to feel like we are somewhat responsible is kinda a bit much

Hello! I'm back! Short answer, not really. Hero's complex is saving someone or a situation because it is a self-ego boost, where the individual does something "good" in order to receive some recognition or validation. Uenoyama isn't like that at all, especially in the first arc, he fixes strings for Mafuyu not because he desperately needs Mafuyu to be happy or to sing, but he wanted to connect with Mafuyu, to understand truly where he is coming from, and to apologise properly. When Mafuyu was eventually able to sing, he is SOOO SURPRISED and PROUD OF Mafuyu. Even when afterwards he visits Mafuyu and then gets asked out by Mafuyu, he doesn't expects it or demands it from Mafuyu, he just genuinely cares for him.

If Uenoyama has a hero's complex, Uenoyama would have been feeling like he must heal Mafuyu in order to give his band a chance at performing well at the live. Or in the most recent chapters, the manga would literally have Ue say something like "Mafuyu is stunting the band's success and I need to get him back on track so that he can thank me for making him happy." Uenoyama is none of that, he just wants to connect with Mafuyu through music, the result is something he hopes for but not that something he feels entitled to gain for doing something good.

However I will say that he has some codependency issues. He internalises Mafuyu's sadness as his own. You're definitely right that it's a bit too much but hero's complex is different from codependency in that one is doing "morally good deeds" for a selfish reason while the latter is an unhealthy selflessness by compromising one's own needs and feelings (i.e. staying up all night to write the demo, neglecting sleep, some obsessive thought patterns etc.)

I feel like rewatching given but do I really wanna cry?

I decided to sit and watch an anime last night to help curb my crippling depression and the one I chose was Given.

If you've never watched Given, this is your sign. That eleven episode BL anime destroyed me in ways no other BL anime has ever come close to.

I find when consuming BL content whether it's an anime or a manga there's a strong theme amongst the popular one of dubious consent (or lack thereof entirely), along with the "ew am I attracted to a man" trope, aggressive age gaps, and over all just straight up unhealthy relationships.

Given didn't have any of that. It's about two boys, one who wants to learn how to play the guitar, and the other who knows how.

There's beautiful character growth, in-depth friendships, heartbreak, hurt, comfort, loss, and a whole lot of love. And it's adorable, 10/10 new favorite anime. New comfort anime.

Hi I'm back! I'm literally BATHING in glory because I literally CALLED IT a year ago, topic about the sea, although now in retrospect, it was a pretty obvious set-up on Kizu's part 😆😆😆 But anyways, I'm still bathing in glory. I don't really have a lot of thoughts to be honest, I'm just still really emotional, mix_19 and mix_20 was everything that I could have wanted and more. I'm thoroughly deceased (in a good way).
