ATINY/MOA/CARATS vs Made in Abyss was the last thing I expected and its hilarious
feel like I need to say something since twitter absolutely loves spreading misinfo and just accusing people of shit, how have you people not LEARNED your lesson yet? Since when is twitter such a trusted source, especially gossip accounts?
And before you braindead stans start calling me a d!ckrider, I promise you I do not care about these men cuz I've got better things to focus on and I'm making this because people are overreacting and it's getting annoying. It's so obvious 90% of you haven't watched the anime (and thats completely fine, I get you) and then ended up listening to someone who made stuff up and overexaggerated. I'm not here to defend the author because I hate him as much as you do and can absolutely recognize the dude is into some weird shit but saying people are ONLY interested in this series because of r@pe and p€dophilia is INSANE. So let me answer some questions as a Made an Abyss reader (not calling myself a fan because you'll catch me DEAD before you see me buying any merch or manga despite my love for the series), kpop fan second.
Does Made In Abyss contain p3d0ph1l1c themes, gore etc.?
There absolutely is because the author is a creep (refering to the nsfw however, most of the times it's very easily skippable. As someone who hates l0l1con cuz it creeps me out, I can tell you that I really didn't have a hard time skipping said scenes even in the manga which is far more explicit than the anime (Prushka asking about Bond's 'stick', Faputa looking into Regs pants, Vueko's weird comments) and sometimes, they're even added as extras (0.5 chapters) which certain sites that contain scans don't even include. I didn't even know about the existence about a few of these chapters BECAUSE they don't include them.
The OVA is a nightmare to watch and was not only unfunny but creepy as fuck especially when they try to boil down such an amazing character like Ozen into 'I like seeing little kids in pain'. Now I have no idea if this was made independently but I don't remember the author making any spin-offs that they could base this on so I can't tell you who wrote it but even then I doubt that the author minded it since the man himself had to include that Faputas behind smells like the 'Sun' so again, not here to defend him cuz he most definitely is a weirdo, no doubt about it.
Is Made in Abyss torture p*rn?
If MiA is torture p*rn then AoT is military propaganda and supports child labor, TPN is also torture p*rn, JJK promotes violence, Berserk excuses r*pe and Evangelion is also p*do bait. See how stupid that sounds? Just because an anime INCLUDES something, does not mean it necessarily supports it. Yes, r*pe is mentioned but it's not even SHOWN, and it's a cruical part of a characters backstory. The torture that happens, happens only once if we exclude Riko's 'experiment' at the very beginning of the manga. And Mitty's transformation can't even be classified as torture cuz it's a.... transformation. Prushka's death is very censored so its not like you can jack off to that anyways. Now the piss thing is something I have noticed but haven't really payed attention it because bffr why the hell would I so idk, maybe the author is trying to tell us something or the guy thinks pee pee poo poo funny🤷‍♀️.
Is there any plot besides the weird stuff?
See now this is the part that gets me most because the reason why a majority of people nowadays got into MiA in the first place is BECAUSE of the amazing plot. The world building, the mystery, the fight scenes, etc. It's amazingly drawn, nicely paced and unique in its own way. But of course, it's manga&anime and what's anime without fanservice? I already explained that in manga, said scenes can be easily skipped and the anime thankfully doesn't include a lot of these. I do have to admit thag I dropped the manga for now since the chapter where they were in a bath cuz it was another one of those 'here we go again' moments where it made me roll my eyes and just close the tab so I don't really know what's been happening recently and if things go weirder.
I'm also gonna tell you honestly that yes, the fandom is filled with sweaty dudebros itching to see these kids half naked and the author is aware of them and pondering to them because he too is one of them. But a large majority is back from when the anime originally came out and are mostly hiding on twitter so it's easy to avoid them and they've been pretty rare ever since people with actual interest in the series have begun watching it. A reason why back in the day I didn't wanna interact with the fandom at ALL was because the moment I tried to have a normal conversation about the plot and what might actually be going on, I instead get bombarded with "UWAAAA😭😭😭" and 'c*nny' comments. I also cannot defend and don't even plan on defending the fact that Faputa is pretty much naked the entire series. I get that she lives in the literal wilderness, but the very least you could do is put a cloth on her y'know. And mind you, I'm talking about the manga. The anime is a LOT more heavily censored, and from what I heard, even MORE censored in Korea.
To sum it up:
Do I think Mingi/Soobin/Woozi are p*dos cuz they watched the anime? Absolutely the fuck not. Considering Mingi is a big CSM fan, I can see why he watched Made in Abyss because I was in that same pipeline. I think some of you are going way too far with these comments, if you wanna call them weird, creepy, wanna unstan them for reading stuff like this go ahead, not gonna stop because in the end no one can but accusing people of crimes isn't funny and never will be. If they were exposed for watching shit like Kodomo no Jikan then that most definitely IS eyebrow raising. Maybe I'm slightly biased due to me only enjoying MiA for the plot so seeing people say the fans are p3d0s when the first time I watched this was when I was freshly 15.... yeah idk abt that one. Whether they liked the weird and questionable scenes, I have zero idea I'm just here to say that you can enjoy said anime without being a weirdo and you shouldn't begin jumping to conclusions and start calling people straight up criminals. If anyone wants to have a productive conversation and ask questions abt said anime cuz I doubt you're gonna go watch an anime over a Twitter drama, go ahead and ask. If you wanna insult me and call me a d!ckrider then go ahead and do that too, who am I to stop you?

MADE IN ABYSS MOVIE! REVIEW
8/10
No spoiler review:
The animation is always fantastic, the details of everything is so mesmerizing, the character design and the color makes everything perfect
The story is fantastic, I like how dark it is. The world building is so original and made me hooked to the anime more.
I can’t find myself hating on any character even the bad guy. I really enjoy everyone because everyone had their story and a certain mystery around them and I really liked it.
I found some scene unnecessary but not boring at all. The information given were not overwhelming at all so I understand almost everything.
Now the review with spoilers!
I recently finished season 1 of made in abyss and I am still traumatized! But I decided to finish the movie today after dinner and I am still devastated! Every scene broke me! Every single scene was made to hurt me! Watch made in abyss they say, it’s cute!
Tumblr media
Where! WHERE! Where is the cuteness? I just see pain here and there.
The movie starts ok still weird things like commenting on minors private parts! But I just ignore them for my own benefit. It’s so cringe but anyway! My babies are still cute and Nanachi looks so cute and adorable as always (sorry I adopted them unwillingly)!
The first scene with the corpses made me chill and horrified! I still can’t get over the fact that it looks like a “kid” anime but then it turns so dark.
We see our main protagonists going on a journey, reg having random memories like I KNEW HE WAS RELATED TO LYZA.
Rika being our cute leader, Reg being our bodyguard and Nanachi our mascot the movie couldn’t start better.
It was going so well until I hear this aggravating voice! bondrewd!
Tumblr media
I was so confused about the mask thing! Like he dies but then he revives and it’s all connected to his mask. STOP IT HURTS MY BRAIN!
I’m still confused so if I comment scenes but in a random orders it’s because I’m trying to remember the movie by memory! Bear with me ok?
This “papa” (sorry name too long to remember and to write) weirdo doesn’t he have something better to do? Like find some hobby! I can’t find the reason why he does all that! Like yeah I understand but I still don’t! The fact that he cares about his kids it’s emotionally draining Because you can say aww cute but then he turns them into that kind of briefcases with meat! Or into ugly experiments! But he still cares about them! You can see that at the end of the movie he turns into that thing, the “blessing” thanks to his love for his children.
Another thing that confused me is when Reg transformed in a black demon! I was like when! Why! Who! I was so confused. Can you return normal? GIVE BACK MY SON!
So maybe it’s time to talk about my other adopted kid… Prushka. Rest in piece 💀. I’m still grieving. Like she was still alive at a certain point but I think that couldn’t be called life.
It was all sad and devastating, she deserved better, she deserved to be with them in their journey. PRUSHKA YOU WILL BE REMEMBERED.
Tumblr media
Oh and the Whistle thing. Weird concept! The fact they they are maybe by human sacrifice I am still shocked! And it was an evil touch to make prushka into a whistle!
Gory scenes were so gory. I never saw an anime that gory. And about kids that it’s the worst part. When they tortured my son reg and like you can see the flesh of his arm omg it made me sick.
Every death was so detailed! I can’t think about it anymore! Who watched it knows!
Tumblr media
Final thing is the combat! I find it ok honestly wasn’t so much interested in it! Some scenes were confusing other I found them pretty smart. But it was cool it made the movie more interesting, and it was cool even the fact the he never dies and that he turned into a furry himself.
The final scene where Prushka before dying even after what he did to her wants to stay with him it broke my heart!
Tumblr media
I really loved it! It surely it wasn’t as perfect as the season 1 but I liked the fact it wasn’t too overwhelming with informations. Every piece of information was given on the right time at the right moment and they were easy to understand, at least for me! The characters were so cool even the bad guy I really enjoyed his character!

Library vs. Abyss
Researched Library of Ruina recently and after realizing a rare case of absolutely loathing (later merely disliking) a tragic villain, in this case the villain protagonist whose story is followed from Roland's point of view, my mind somehow managed to connect the Library (where the defeated get turned into books) made out of Angela's E.G.O. to the Abyss that Bondrewd performs his multitude of morally dubious actions involving cartridges.
Both are seemingly infinitely large spaces on the inside too that are filled with suffering and death perpetuated by blatantly evil people who believe that it all justifies an end goal (an A.I. becoming human and destroying their creator's ultimate dream out of spite/vengeance for a million years of suffering on one hand, and ever growing knowledge/preventing the presumably apocalyptic outcome of an approaching 2000 year cycle of a hellhole where fates worse than death can be the norm on the other hand.) Mind you, near the end one of them is finally made to realize (through battle and a reason-you-suck-speech from the other villain protagonist) how far they've fallen and end up sacrificing their newfound humanity to restore all the people they had murdered and turned into books (they tried sacrificing themselves entirely to the Light - including a confrontation with Carmen and a very timely "I'm sorry... and good job" from Ayin of all people - before Roland basically dragged them back out). The other really hasn't at all. One word: Mitty.
Using all powers and all people from the respective series, which verse would walk out the winner?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Disclaimer: No amount of Prushka Juice or Eldritch-Light-Carmen was spilled in these events.

Probably not the best chart for it but: Made in Abyss (free choice)
the first character i ever fell in love with:
Ozen, then Nanachi soon after
a character that i used to love/like, but now do not:
N/A I don’t feel this with any of the cast
a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not:
don’t really have one
my ultimate favorite character™:
Ozen the Immoveable, best gal, terrifying gal. Hidden depths, capable of crushing most people into paste if she tried. Love her
prettiest character:
Prushka :’’(
my most hated character:
Wazukyan makes me so mad
my OTP:
Riko/Nanachi. Honestly, Riko seems to instill a strong sense of hopefulness in them, and it’s so soft how they interact. (Also Nanachi goes through a euphoric epiphany every time tasting Riko’s cooking and it’s adorable.)
my NOTP:
Ozen/anyone mostly (well besides her arguably canon crush)
favorite episode chapter:
Chapter 37: Flower of Dawn
saddest death:
Reg putting Mitty out of her misery :(
character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate:
I don’t think I have one here
my ‘you’re piece of trash, but you’re still a fave’ fave:
Bondrewd. Definitely the one of the worst and most horrifying pieces of shit I ever read in a manga, but he is written extraordinarily well. The last character who distressed me this much was Griffith (charismatic speech patterns and all). Well done.
my ‘beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this’ fave:
All three of the main characters for all the horror they go through, but most especially Riko for getting hit with repeated curses (and of course she is the squishy human comparatively) and every major villain (or Ozen) going out of their way to psychologically torture her for one reason or another.
my ‘this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it’ ship:
let me get back to you on that
my ‘they’re kind of cute, and i lowkey ship them, but i’m not too invested’ ship:
Lowkey Riko/Nanachi/Reg. I wanna keep them together because the trauma bonding here is real.
ask me a fandom

Anyways holy shit the new MiA chapter was SO brutal, even for MiA standards, I'm genuenly surprised. I somewhat expected something like this to go down but still???
The gore art was amazing, it managed to actually make me feel heavily uncomfortable. It's not often that we see creators depict gore this way, it's usually a shit ton of blood and entrails flying everywhere, up to the point where it looks unrealistic, but this just looked so "natural" (to put it some way, it reminds me of actual irl gore and not just an exaggeration to make some sort of impact). It really added to the devastating and painful nature of the chapter. And even though it was raw as hell it still managed to make me very emotional, I felt terrible for Faputa (specially with Garburuune's 'death' :(...) and I think this chapter really made me connect with the essence of Faputa's character.
She is the incarnation of the frustrated dreams, fears and suffering of a child who was taken advantage of by everyone around her (including her very own tribe who would've used her as a sacrifice for the Abyss because of her infertility). In this chapter she was shown helpless and tossed around as if she was a ragdoll (which is most likely the way Irumyuui felt during her last moments as a human and even as the village of Iibliu), calling out for Garburuune to help her and stop what was happening. This chapter wasn't only a bunch of raw gorey horror, it was psychological horror at it's finest.
So far I'd thought the Ganja Arc was the toughest to endure emotionally, but oof, I think I might be close to changing my views on it, I think there are a lot of things in the Iibliu Arc that we just read by and ignore, but actually a lot of those subtle things are extremely disturbing if you stop to think about it.
Made in Abyss is extremely good at playing with the reader's discomfort and I love the way Akihito writes the story to be so disturbing yet interesting, it creates an internal moral debate within the reader that few series really manage to induce into it's viewers.
I really can't wait for the next chapter ugh...
On another note, am I the only one who finds that new Faputa ''transformation'' to be a tad bit too similar to Irumyuui???
Like it's obvious she'd look like her, but that last panel really impacted me...for some reason she looks way less animalistic now and more humanoid to me, and also the eye!!!
I'm fairly sure it's one of the symbols for the relics that are activated by using the white whistle, but then again since the chapter hasn't been translated yet I can't be 100% sure of what was said (other than the previously mentioned cries for help), I also couldn't fully understand what happened for her to "revive" this time, I think she was fed the little Irumyuui baby things by Iibliu's people? But they were kinda transparent looking instead of the goopy black (and there was a scene where the Mollusc Dragon crushed them so...) so yeah I can't talk too much on that ughh (I'll defenetely have to wait until the chapter's translation),,, what I'm certain of however is that the symbol means Faputa's unlocked some sort of potential/power relating to the Abyss or that will maybe connect her to Riko and Prushka in some way (as it kinda seems to be a pattern by now that Riko brings almost everyone she meets in the Abyss with her. Even if not immediatly, we even saw some chapters ago that Ozen and Gyrou were planning to descend into the deeper layers to try and solve the birthday mistery thing and potentially meet Riko and company. I'm fairly sure that'll come up again later and that it possibly relates to Riko being an undead being of sorts and so being deeply connected to the Abyss and that it defenetely will have a deeper meaning later on but hhh I don't have a very stable base for that theory as it might as well just be a coincidence but yeah, I have a very strong feeling that Faputa's joining the gang).

baka-dot-exe replied to your post “3rd Made in Abyss movie was pretty dang great, though I can’t say I...”
I feel the impact of prushka is something that translates differently from a year of reading and waiting for manga chapters compared to being exposed to her in a two hour movie.
Kinda like how there's the group of people who read one piece early on and literally grew up with ace being around in the fandom all the way till his death compared to those who jumped onto one piece later and read it all at once where ace might have been less impactful on the reader since they knew him for less time idk where I'm going with this lol
Yeah that makes sense, honestly while watching it I had the thought that if it were a second season of the show rather than a movie it probably would have gotten me to cry a lot more. I think it has to do with the pacing, It’s like since it’s a movie it has to be paced faster, but since it sticks close to the manga it’s not paced like a movie, so it feels like watching a show that’s rushing to fit under two hours. Where as if it was a show I would’ve had more time to get attached to her.
And honestly the Ace comparison makes sense because I didn’t read One Piece until a couple years ago and Ace’s death had basically no emotional impact on me whatsoever. I know that’s blasphemous to say, but like, he barely did anything in the story? I guess I can understand how knowing him for longer and his popularity in the fandom could lead to more of an attachment to him but having read it completely detached from that I didn’t get it. The only reason I was shocked by him dying was because I felt like he hadn’t done anything yet and didn’t understand how he’d be so popular if that was it.

Exploring the abyss
S p o i l e r s - Go watch the anime and read the manga. This part assumes you have done so. Else spoilers.
Made in Abyss is brilliant. That is the only way I can think of, to start this (whatever this is).
The world here is so deep, so ethereal, and the characters really are one with it all. Here, I'm mainly going to talk about those elements of the world and the characters. No plot, only the thoughts these elements invoke.
Hagimemashou!
The Abyss
The Abyss will come up repeatedly because it is the centre of the story, literally. Still, I want to give a sort of introduction on it.
The abyss is a deep chasm that seems to go on forever. To delve into the abyss is a dangerous task and it does have little mysterious effects on the people around it. Even so, many humans settled around the abyss and made a sort of village. The world is obviously different from what is intuitive to us, and I'm talking about the characters now, but it hardly takes any time to connect with them.
Anyway, back to the abyss. If I were to compare the abyss with something in the real world, I'd say it's space (though I prefer saying everything beyond Earth). Obviously, space is much more dangerous and enigmatic, but the abyss is something where you can easily go and do not need rockets and such advanced equipment and thus, it piques more interest for people to go in there themselves, despite knowing the dangers of it. The deeper you delve in... nothing will happen. But once you begin to ascend you face horrible consequences (from a simple headache to nausea to bleeding from your eyes) and yet people go there, searching and searching and searching. Everything, for the mere sake of curiosity.
It is later that we know that there is a force field responsible for the effects, though there are no known counter-measures. And still they keep delving in. Riko is looking for her mother but she is fascinated by the abyss. Reg's origins lie somewhere in the abyss and he feels his sole duty is to protect Riko. They dive and they suffer so much and thus you suffer, because you're attached to them
I'm changing topics so much. Maybe I shouldn't talk about the abyss. But in short, the abyss is this ethereal, enigmatic and crazy place with its own ecosystem... yeah let's go into that.
The creatures in the abyss
These are known as predators. These alien creatures that hold such a frightening aura around themselves. However, they are a part of the abyss. It is their habitat and humans are diving into it. Uninvited guests. Let's go eat them, why not.
These creatures are all quite majestic (they are designed very thoughtfully and go so well with the abyss). The true danger of the abyss is the abyss itself, but these creatures cause one to be at caution at every step. That is why what Ozen did was justified, however harsh it may be (not that I like it).
But anyway, they have their own ecosystem and live by their own instincts and perhaps have something similar to 'the survival of the fittest'. Not only that, the danger each creature poses is so different and so dark, I suppose.
The more dangerous these creatures, the less in number they are (again, ecosystem). But going back to the point I'm beating around... they are creatures of the abyss. That means they understand the abyss better than anyone else and the deeper they go, the more the know. It's the same for us humans, we do form a connection with nature on the fundamental level (we are a part of nature). However those creatures aren't intelligent; they simply survive. Looking for preys, living by themselves, just going on but living indeed. Then there are us humans who are so curious about everything (because of our 'intelligence'), we delve deeper and deeper into their habitat. For example, the orb piercer understands the force field around it (even though it's only at the 4th level) and yes it has its weakness, but in its habitat other than a few white whistlers, no one can defeat it. The white whistlers are those humans with the most determination and perhaps the most curious minds (in regards to the abyss). This makes me wonder, what is intelligence? Is it really something that helps for survival? Is it the impulse behind curiosity and learning? Is it just, thoughts? Is it really what makes us more advanced than animals if it say, dulls our instincts (like the survival of danger instinct)? Is it mean to find the true meaning of life? Even though humans are a puny part of the universe? Is it just something to acquire knowledge, and knowledge and wisdom is the true aim of living beings? When the first humans came, the Earth was as abstruse as the abyss is. Perhaps then, with the abyss being a part of the Earth, something of the humans originate from there? Some sort of connection resulting in that abundant curiosity?
And just what is intelligence?
Let's get psychological
Whom should I start with... obviously Ozen. The mentor of Lyza, the one who will probably help Riko and Reg. And she does help them in a way that is best for the situation of the abyss, even if it's not morally good.
Every driver began because of their curiosity (mostly). These intense delvers like Ozen were obsessed with the abyss's mysteries, not caring for their body for even the slightest second as they went in deeper and deeper. She is also known for her immeasurable strength (Ozen the immovable) and how she developed an intuition for the abyss. She's been alive for so long but it's impossible to tell what her age is, and she now lives in the abyss as she studies it.
Anyway, let's talk about the Curse-Warding box and Riko. She was a stillborn when she was put in the box and was thought to be dead. However that box (most probably) caused her to move and Ozen even confirmed this by experimenting on a 'monster'. Essentially, Riko is a child of the abyss. It is in her instincts to reach the bottom of the abyss and has also inherited her mother's curiosity of the abyss.
Ozen tests this child and her companion just as she tests everyone - creepy face and scary time. She attempted to even convince Lyza to not go delving, but her stubborn nature was the first think Ozen liked about her.
Ozen's creepy face (manga)
Tumblr media
Even though she is mostly testing them to understand if they are capable are not, spending so much time in and with the abyss causes her to find it amusing. She's conducting sorts of psychological experiments on children (Riko, Reg, Lyza, Marulk) as she explores the abyss.
Now, let's get to Bondrewd.
This guy did anything  to obtain funds for his research into the Abyss, selling drugs made through human experiments on the black market, selling artefacts and relics illegally, and many other questionable acts. Some time ago he managed to steal the special-grade artefact the and used it to spread his consciousness on multiple bodies, creating the Umbra Hands (Bondrewd's group of delvers). When he became a White Whistle, he used his original body as the material for the Life Reverberating Stone necessary to make the whistle, becoming his very own whistle himself. Since then, Bondrewd became nothing but a soul moving between bodies with the use of the Zoaholic. (yes is copied from wikia. Yes I'm lazy).
The guy began to test the effects of the abyss and what not on children, completely abandoned his morality and soul and gave in to his curiosity by conducting literal vicious experiments. He even transformed his adoptive daughter, Prushka, into a cartridge for his soul transfer thing (though her sense of adventure let her go with Riko and the others.)
Bondrewd definitely conducted successful experiments, but they were horrible. So many children survived the 6th layer's curse and the became a narehate (or 'hollow') (I'll talk about the narehates later).
Now the thing about all of this is that Bondrewd and Ozen are white-whistlers. They are respected deeply by the people on the surface. They are respected for their research, but these are the people who are ready to dispose of their bodies, suffer trauma, make others suffer trauma, destroy souls and consciousness for the sake of 'knowledge'. How are they better than the creatures of the abyss who aren't intelligent and have knowledge, but are even less 'monstrous'? What good is such knowledge?
In these kinds of themes the anime gets dark, not the 'gory' scenes. If a person really thinks aout it seriously, the themes in the story can make you question yourself. What physical body, what physical existence? What mind and what instincts? What is the essence, the need?
Narehate - 'nare no hate' - 'the shadow of one's former self'
There's a lot of things to say here but I'll address (what I think are) the main points. We've got two types of narehates known - the ones from Idofront (Bondrewd's experiment) and the ones in the Ilblu village.
Mitty is a narehate from Idofront. As seen from Riko's perspective, her soul was trapped in the narehate body. She could feel but she couldn't express. She was alive, but couldn't live and couldn't die (she's even 'resurrected' by Bondrewd. That guy...). She was one of the children who wanted to really explore the abyss but became a shadow of her former self. Suffering for eternity.
This sort of tells us how important expression is. Keeping your thoughts and emotions buried inside will begin to destroy your humanity. You want death but you cannot die and you shouldn't die, waiting for the right time. The abyss basically dulled all senses and created a soul within an empty mind that somehow still felt, but could probably not really register anything. Existing like that is a scary notion.
The narehates at Ilblu are very diverse, with some even being intelligent. Once they become a part of it they cannot leave the village. They have this value system where if they want something they have to trade it with something of 'equal' value, and the values of things aren't necessarily predefined but mostly vary from person to person. It is clearly shown that the value of a human anything is very large as well as immortality (Mitty, here), and it shows how much these narehates desire humanity, how much they wish to return to their former self. It makes sense, of course, but what's really interesting is that we see the same behaviour in the 'non-intelligent' species. Perhaps their human instincts remain and similarly, because Riko is a child of the abyss (my assumption), her connection with the abyss and those instincts remain. Really, everything in this world is connected.
The last thing: The Three Sages (who created Ilblu). We do not know much about the, as they came during the ending of the manga, but they are now narehates and they are crazy, honestly. They used to be together, had this sort of bond as they searched the abyss but now they have lost absolute humanity. All that remains is the whole thing with value, (like when Belafu buys Mitty from Bondrewd and Nanachi sells herself to buy Mitty, but now Belafu has both Mitty and Nanachi). These three sages only come out when the village is in absolute danger and it's kind of sad to see them not care about much after seeing them in Vueko's flashbacks (ahh Vueko).
The concept surrounding value really makes you think what is valuable and what isn't, and in the end you realise two things - value depends from person to person and they all really don't matter to the universe, but nevertheless it matters so deeply to each individual. How does anything matter? It matters to us personally, and that is enough. But it is important to understand the essence of these values because we often might be wasting our time or are desperate about something we love, like when Nanachi sold herself even when there probably was a better solution.
That's it for now. When the manga update comes I'll probably talk (talk? More like rant) about the cradle of greed.
TL;DR: Made in abyss is brilliant.
