... thanks to Nicholas Li deciding to hastily pull on his Macavity wig and unitard for the curtain calls on closing night of the Vienna revival, we now have onstage footage of Macavity just hanging out with the tribe. And interacting with them. Including this gem:
Thank you, Diane Bauer.
Mistocavity shippers, your hour has come!
With Stephen Martin Allan as Mistoffelees; 26 June 2022.
Here is it again, because I want to share things about this ship, illustrated like this one. SO:
Surprise 1.
When their relationship became physical, Macavity was really surprised, that Mistoffelees is so solid. Observing him earlier he always imagined, that this cat with his slim waists, neck and wrists has to be fragile.
He also knew that the constant practicing of ballet gives starch and strength, but he definitely wasn't prepared to those massive muscles under the short, velvet-like fur. Mistoffelees has incredibly toned abs, legs (and butt), he is also very flexible. Honestly his flexibility made Macavity genuinely surprised in some kind of situations.

Korean tour, 28 December 2011. Paek Du-San as Plato/Macavity and Yu Hoe-ung as Mistoffelees.
Jacob Brent said once that Mistoffelees is Deuteronomy's son. So how about this for a family unit? Mexico Grizabella is even almost a tux herself!
In fact, given how red this Deuteronomy is, Macavity could actually be their son too - the two magical cats as brothers, perhaps?
Mexico 2013: Orville Alvarado as Mistoffelees, Manuel Landeta as Deuteronomy, Olivia Bucio (normally Jellylorum) covering Grizabella in the first and second photos, and Natalia Sosa in the last; Gerry Pérez as Plato and Macavity.
Plato’s Villain Origin Story (part 3): Mistoffelees has found an accomplice in his teasing schemes.

(These will be posting around this time every day for the next couple of weeks! Tune in for some more silly faces and an utter lack of plot except for Paek gradually managing to put his makeup on.)
Plato’s Villain Origin Story: the startling finale!
After tormenting him toward villainy, then realising their mistake and trying to tease him back with laughter, Mistoffelees and his minions seemed like they must ultimately fail in their mission to prevent Plato from becoming Macavity. He giggled from time to time, but he never stopped painting his face.
But unexpectedly, in the last few seconds, Mistoffelees found a solution: turn him into Griddlebone instead! And he will laugh.
In the end, the constant bothering did drive Plato to become a villain - but that villain was Griddlebone.
