I wrote a little jmart fic based on the tongue comics by @starfleetrambo and @lycanlovingvampyre 😊 Maybe I'll do one with more Tim in the future, but I've been in a bit of a hole with Jon and Martin lately so I decided to just keep digging. I hope you enjoy!

MAG 66 - I have vague memories of this statement regarding the first time I listened to it and what I was doing… I wanna say I sat on the couch?
It's so funny that in every statement with Salesa he's described as this crooked intimidating antiques dealer with whom you absolutely don't want to be on bad terms with (which probably is true), but when we actually meet Salesa he seems like this welcoming funny guy.
"His grip was just as strong as I would have guessed and for a second I was suddenly afraid he was going to kill me. Instead, he looked me in the eyes for a long moment before he said very softly, “don’t go to sleep”." - There, hard on the outside… a bit softer on the inside. The statement-giver thought Salesa was going to kill him when in reality Salesa wanted to safe his life.
"I have never suffered from claustrophobia before but it didn’t take long for it to set in " - Buried episodes usually don't do much for me. I too have never suffered from claustrophobia. Been caving, no problem. MRs, no problem. I guess if I ever thought to be buried alive I would also panic, but I think it's very unlikely to happen? There are no strong earthquakes where I live. I live far enough from the nearest mountain so mudslides are also unlikely. I don't go skiing, that makes avalanches also not something I might encounter…
"The thing that finally brought me out of it was the realization that if I’d been breathing so hard and for so long but was still conscious, that must mean there was airflow and that I wasn’t completely buried alive. That sudden moment of relief ended abruptly though, when I swear I felt the box get smaller." - The Buried is one of the Entities that fights you really hard when there's the chance for you to feel less fear. The coffin is the same, that's why Fiona Law ended up in it. But the statement-giver in MAG 129 made it out using an anchor, so it's possible depending on the manifestation (or at what stage you're at, like Joshua Gillespie in MAG 2. He never opened the coffin, it never got that far).
I think that these returning moments of hope was what kept the statement-giver alive. He probably would have been processed faster or died faster if he didn't think he might make it out (having enough air, seeing light) and the box tried so very hard to crush (ha!) his hope. But this gave him enough time to wait it out until Salesa and Lukas finally could get to him.
"He looked at me then over to Salesa, shrugged, and handed him a 20 pound note before turning around and walking out of the shipping container" - I remember that I did laugh at this (and now I remember I was definitely listening on the couch), as I instantly recognized this as a bet XD
"Surprisingly, it seems comprehensive shipping records are harder for Tim to flirt his way into than police reports" - lol
"There are several online orders of petrol, lighter fluid, pesticides, and high-powered torches." - Hmmm, the pesticides? Did Gertrude already prepare for Prentiss? I mean she was still Archivist when Prentiss gave her statement. Or was this for something else? Amherst didn't strike me that much of a bug buddy, although that ant building was his. Still, him taking over Ivy Meadows and Klanxbüll in Germany were all cases of diseases.
"I cannot help but wonder if there is a reason she was keeping the files in disarray. I’m not convinced she would approve of my efforts to organize them." - He's absolutely right there.
grbookworm1818, there it is^^ I think I have already forgotten that from MAG 4 on my first listen, especially since I had a very hard time with MAG 4.
"The more I learn about Gertrude, the more I respect her, and the more I worry about her motives." - Not everything is black and white, Jon. Her motives were good, her methods questionable…
"Perhaps I’ve been focusing on the wrong question, and the most important thing isn’t who killed her, but why." - Quite right, definitely worth looking into.
This supplemental has already so much story in it, but you only realize this over the course of XX episodes.
She ordered the pesticide after hearing Benoît Maçon's statement

MAG 63 - making apple pie in the kitchen
I just want to say right off the bat that this is one of my favorite statements!
"And if you don’t know what it is, well, the Internet’s a thing. Look it up." - so true, lmgtfy
"Everyone always forgets how much London is under London." - Foreshadowing? I mean, it's true, but still since this will become relevant to the plot.
"I took another picture before I followed him. The shadow was still there, and it seemed to be ever so slightly closer." - Aaaah, this is exactly the shit I love! xD
"I told him bluntly that I didn’t have enough, and if I didn’t get paid, he didn’t get paid." - Capitalism is the real enemy!!! Aside from that, it's so tragic that the Luke gets snatched. He wanted to leave.
"the third set of breathing. It was quiet, at first, long and slow, and very deliberate." - Jonny does love the words "slow" and "deliberate", preferably very close to each other, doesn't he?
"and I sank to the floor, clutching my camera to my chest like some sort of protective talisman." - I wonder if it was? Cameras belong to the Eye and that's the opposite of the Dark. The Dark is about the unseen, the Eye is about being seen. And the camera did make them visible to some point.
"As I pressed the button, the screaming stopped, with a wet snap, and for the worst moment of my life, an explosion of light shot through the darkness." - I love this so much _
"His eyes were staring at me as though pleading for my feeble, flashing camera to save him." - Firstly, again the camera being mentioned as a possible lifesaver. And secondly, and this is why horror writers say their search history is super fucked up: Luke's eyes were probably fixed on the statement-giver's camera because he was thinking just that. Yes, just the head. It is believed, that people (and animals) stay at least 2 to 3 seconds conscious before falling in a coma and dying from oxygen deprivation and sudden fall of perfusion of blood in the brain. This is a highly interesting topic physiology-wise that I have on some occasions been reading up about with fascination and dread alike. Because holy shit, this is so messed up.
MELANIE "The new girl let me in. Are you all right?" - <.<
MELANIE "No! I, um – I actually do need your help." JON "… Hm. Interesting." - He doesn't, but I feel like he really wants to be smug about it. Like, well well well, how the turns have tabled!
MELANIE "Georgie actually has some nice things to say about you." JON "Oh!" MELANIE "That came as a surprise." - Hahaha, that little "Oh" in there xD
JON "We didn’t exactly part on the best of terms…" - Well I wonder why that is… I mean, Jon can be a prick, but Georgie isn't a saint either. She's got a bit of a control problem going on. Ha… interesting… since it is said how similar Jmart is to wtgfs, this would make Georgie and Martin similar and control is a Web-thing, isn't it? It's just that Georgie can't quite succeed in it.
JON "I’m sorry to hear that. I noticed you weren’t updating anymore." - I know people in fanfics are always like "Oh, Jon only watches documentaries" and I think this was also said in a Q&A once that he'd probably be the documentaries-type but let's not forget what kind of a kid Jon was! He was a bookworm! He probably read a lot of fiction and I can't believe that he completely stopped that, fiction I mean. He may not have seen Kill Bill, but he knows the basic story of Spiderman, hell he's probably seen the first one with Toby Maguire! So yes. I believe Jon also watched some Ghost Hunting shows. It is after all that what he wants answers to.
"The new girl" line always sent shivers up my spine....

MAG 84 - hair dying session
Oh! Alex knows how to pronounce "ei"! (because of the statement-giver's name, Adrian Weiss)
"A pristine, unopened can of baked beans" - Synchronicities! (Hellier anyone?)
Yeah, don't have much to say about that statement. It again has the theme of toxic love, this time it's not worms. It's hoarding.
Martin sounds like he actually needed a few moments to recover when he was done with the statement…
MARTIN "John, the, uh, Head Archivist is… absent" - That little pause and then the way he says "absent" XD
MARTIN "so I’ll be trying to fill in as best as I can. Um. Maybe Tim as well, if he… if he feels like it." - Same here! Also poor Martin, basically running the Archives on his own right now…
MARTIN "Ah. You’re Miss, er… Richardson?" - Interesting to bring Helen up, given that he actually met her in the Spiral's corridors. We also know, that Martin was actually jealous of her, since she and Jon bonded for that very short time when they met. Hm, interesting, I guess he did now recognize her in the corridors? Maybe this was what made him look up the statement and the recording?
MELANIE "Um, well… I… I flew out and I’ve been, well, that is, before that I was, I was looking at some books. Er, there were history books that were talking… Look, are you sure I can’t just talk to John? You know, Jonathan Sims? He still works here, right?" - Ohhh, not so easy to remain coherent without the presence of the Archivist, is it? Does she subconsciously notice that it was easier to talk to Jon?
Lol, Melanie not getting the pipe XD
MARTIN "Right? But everyone just seems totally convinced he did it. I mean, they think he did something to Sasha too." MELANIE "Jesus. Which one?" - For the audience, this is a super comedic moment. For Melanie, it's going to be very frustrating in about a few seconds…
Elias is watching from his office, sees Melanie with a Slaughter bullet in her leg and probably can't believe his luck! I wonder if he did a little dance?
ELIAS "Ah, you’re not the Melanie King who runs Ghost Hunt UK, surely?" - Elias watching ghost hunting shows on Youtube canon! XD (I know, he most likely used beholding for that, but it's funnier the other way. I actually saw a fanart of this! Him and Peter in bed in the evening, claiming he watches it for research.)
MARTIN "I mean, that doesn’t actually, er, make her qualified." ELIAS [Pointedly] "Formal qualifications aren’t everything, Martin." - Letting Martin know very firmly, that he Knows! And he knows it'll shut him right up. Also Martin clearly not trusting Elias enough to say in front of him, that there is something wrong with this place.
Oh, there's static when Melanie answers Elias whether she wants the job!
God, Martin tries again to save Melanie although Elias has already threatened him!
Ha, I actually remembered the jump scare of Martin hitting something in frustration and turned the volume down when Elias and Melanie left!
Even though Martin is trying to save Melanie to anyone looking from the outside he seems like an asshole who's trying to prevent someone from joining his workplace

MAG 90 - folding laundry
Elias does such a great job at sounding like a concerned boss while still also having to deal with a serious violation of working hours (if it was a normal job, that is of course XD)
TIM "I… I got sick. The longer I was gone… I felt weak, like, like I was losing myself." - This is a new level of the inability to escape. Not even being able to just stay away from the institute…
TIM "You gonna fire me boss?" ELIAS "No. I don’t think that’ll be necessary." - Is Elias saying it's not necessary to kill Tim?
ELIAS "I’ve always found the best way to deal with it is to lose yourself in work. Personally, the comfortable rigour of bureaucracy has always helped me. Perhaps doing a bit of mindless filing will help distract you." - First, corporate scum… Second, when I was first listening I wasn't quite sure if Elias is really supposed to be a villain. Yes, he killed Leitner, but for all we know up until this point, Leitner couuuld have been dangerous? Rumors are, Elias also killed Gertrude, but until this point we also don't know exactly what her business was! We know Elias is some kind of eldritch being, but so is Jon! All this might have had good reasons to be happening, so I thought…
"Even when I spent weeks dieting before a competition, without an ounce of body fat, I, I just couldn’t get there." - Pro tip (but, don't do that): Dehydration. Bodybuilders will stop drinking a certain amount of time before a competition and eat stuff, that dehydrates them more. That way they even get rid of water stored under their skin.
Ah yes, avatars opening up businesses to spread their eldritch shenanigans! Well… Not sure if Jared really wanted to scare people though. Looks more like genuinely wanting to help them reach their "perfect" body.
Lol, that ad-text in the Yellow Pages got static in the background.
"Despite his enormous size, his face seemed pretty normal, even handsome, with the sort of cheekbones and jawline I’d kill for." - Hottest character in TMA, confirmed by Alex himself!
"Marie only had two arms. Marie had legs. And Marie had a head." - This reminds me of the Tzimisce creations in Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines. Those things in Hollywood from the video tape.
"I never went back. I called Marie and told her what happened, but she didn’t believe me. At least, I hope she didn’t. Because if she did, then some of the questions she asked make very worried for her indeed." - Absolutely love that end!
Elias and Jared are both bosses of their own corporations, both physically dooming their associates to a full life of strangely mundane sorts of suffering, each in their own unique ways

MAG 79 - hair dying session
Oh, there we have the Potassium in Martin's name!
I'm sad Tim is so fixated on seeing Jon as a villain. I see that at his point it's a natural reaction of him. Jon massively antagonized him. It's still heartbreaking.
TIM "This isn’t office politics. It’s not like he’s had one too many at the Christmas party and started ranting about the Greeks." - Wait, did this happen once? I would fit so well! God I wanna see tipsy Jon infodumping or ranting!
You can totally see Martin's manipulation talent here. It's not straight up backtalk at Tim, it's gently guiding him.
Oh fuck, them stumbling upon warped Not!Sasha gave me serious chills. I love shit like that.
JON "God, I’m an idiot. Smash the table, kill the monster, stupid! Lazy, sloppy assumption. Of course the table was binding it." - That is literally, what the statement-giver in MAG 78 described, yes! It was so obvious.
"All the pieces were there. And I just… I couldn’t see it." - It'll give him that, his job is not to understand. He simply has to observe.
Martin snapping is so much fun! (There a wonderful animatic on Youtube of that scene btw!)
MARTIN "If we were all happy that wouldn’t actually be the end of the world." - MAG 160, they're actually happy; The world ends :´)
TIM "Stay back!" MICHAEL "No." - The Magnus Archives is an office comedy… xD
MICHAEL "None of you are protected down here." - Tunnels being a blind spot for the Eye foreshadowing!
JON "I can’t fight it with a pipe. I’m tired just carrying it." - There we have the hint of Jon being scrawny, getting tired from just carrying a metal pipe is quite an achievement. Also, that is THE pipe :) With his fingerprints…
NOT!SASHA "I’m going to wear you, John. I’m going to wear everything you are." - That sounds very disturbing…
Not!Sasha's statement: Once upon a time there was [talks in third person], but they're talking about themself-trope. We also had this in MAG 29. I liked it there, somehow I don't like it here. It is clear, that it's about itself and that makes it a bit too cringy for my liking. But some things about the Stranger are just cringy and that's alright.
NOT!SASHA "Then one day it was sent to the house of its enemy, which had the biggest eyes you ever did see." - More Institute being all about eyes and watching.
NOT!SASHA "You really aren’t even a shadow of your predecessor. You’re nothing." - The Stranger really loves mocking Jon especially in comparison to Gertrude, does it? It's gonna happen again in the Unknowing.
NOT!SASHA "You’ll miss the Unknowing, of course, but you wouldn’t understand it anyway." - The Unknowing has already been fleshed out. Because that's it in essence. Not understanding what's going on anymore. It comes up in the Unknowing.
JON "I’m sorry. Martin, Tim… Sasha. I’m so sorry. I should have… I didn’t… I’m sorry." - T_T (First name he said is Martin :D)
NOT!SASHA "I wonder, if I wear you, will I really become the Archivist? Rob the eye of its pupil?" - Interesting question, but I also don't think it would work like that. Also Archivist is already referred to as the pupil of the eye!
Hm, the sound of shifting stone happens very quick there, I thought it was longer. However, I think it still does a great job to show what just happened, I remember immediately understanding what was going on. I mean the whole season we got to hear how the tunnels changed, walls suddenly appearing, the floor opening up instead of the trap door. And finally we get to see that old man who's being all this!
An old man you say? I wonder who it could be...

MAG 62 - apple cutting
Mary has such a creepy voice…
MARY "I know the Institute and me haven’t always seen eye-to-eye" - Firstly, pun. And secondly, this is interesting, as Mary is a von Closen descendant. Is it because she refused to give herself to a single entity (which was traditionally the Eye in her family)?
MARY "To think there was a time before he’d stamped them with his mark. I feel we must have called them something." - Yeah, I also thought of this. We now call those books "Leitner" with an obviousness because we only learned about them after they have been marked with Leitner book plate.
GERTRUDE "I wouldn’t know. I can’t say we ever crossed paths." - Do we know when Gertrude and Leitner started working together? Is she telling the truth at this point?
MARY "You… don’t really go out and look for yourself, do you? Just wait here for the researchers’ leftovers." - It's so funny how everyone looks down on the Eye. Happy all got fucked, either by Gertrude's badassness or in the Eyepocalypse, all of the Watchers knew who their boss was.
MARY "Well. They don’t understand up there. They don’t know what this place is. You do, though, don’t you?" - <.< (The rest of the institute must think the Archives are an absolute mess.)
(Cont.) "We’re on the same side, really. Even if Elias disagrees." - Same side of what? Preventing rituals?
I'm having so much trouble following Mary's statement… And it's not getting better, this is my 4th relisten and my brain just goes to stand-by-mode. I couldn't remember a single thing from the statement itself when I first listened…
"I could lie and say that what I saw made me afraid, but I think we both know the thrill of watching that murder inspired a very different feeling within me. A dark, vicious thing that to this day I can’t fully name. But it was beautiful, and strange." - Jeez…
"I crawled from my hiding place so slowly, so quietly, she barely even stirred as the blade glided through her windpipe." - Mary is just fucked up… Poor Gerry… (And Eric, though he did choose to be with Mary at some point. Children are never given that choice.)
"My inclinations, predictably, were more toward watching than doing the deed myself." - Eye-aligned nonetheless.
MARY "But I’ve always found a singular devotion far too restrictive. Just ask Eric. Or what’s left of him." - ok, what's Eric got to do with singular devotion and its restrictions? Anyway, Gertrude hasn't seen Eric in years at that point. I wonder, what was going through her mind when Mary told her to ask him.
MARY "Here, you can keep this page." - Ah, the leftovers that are Eric.
GERTRUDE "I could rather do with a cup of tea, I think." - She sounds shaken here. Did she already see it was Eric's page? (I mean, the name is in the last sentence of a page of the Catalogue of the Trapped Dead) Or did the statement also take it out of her?
Just as Jon says, there is a lot in that one!
Finding a key, after a Keay's statement. Poetic.
Those floors in the Archives, ts ts smh… Trapdoors, hidden compartments. Be sure to check your Archive, might find a Panopticon beneath it.
It’s depressing how she treats Eric’s page like she did his body: as a tool to be disposed of once it’s no longer useful.

MAG 41 - apple cutting
So Prentiss happened 29th July, now it's the 2nd September, 5 weeks.
Martin giving Jon the ashes of Prentiss, so cute… Well, um, the thought counts!
"and the archive looks remarkably like it was never attacked at all. Unlike me." / "I’m told it’s unlikely the scars will ever truly fade" - The first of many more scars :´(
"but I don’t think the boredom was good for me." - I like the consistency of this. Jon doesn't like boredom. He didn't like it as a kid, he didn't like that about Bournemouth at all and he still doesn't like it.
"Martin wouldn’t hear of it. Almost threw me out of the archive. Is he hiding something? Heh. No, of course not. He’s probably just legitimately concerned for my health." - He says this with such fondness in his voice that I find it hard to believe sometimes, that JonMartin was NOT planned from the start. (I know, Martin's crush was planned from the start, but not them actually getting together.)
"It’s been a couple of weeks now. From before I was officially back. If you listen to this, Martin, I am sorry. I’ve gone behind your back to explore the tunnels on… several occasions." - see above.
"Then I came to the trapdoor. If Sasha hadn’t thought to clearly mark it with hazard tape, I’m not sure I would ever have found it again, but there it was. It took several minutes of fumbling before I was able to figure out how to lift the concealed handle and expose the lock" - So what do you think the trapdoor looks like? Does it just do a very good job at blending in with the other floorboards? It is in Jon's office, right? The Head Archivist office. Why? Was it already there when Gertrude got the job? Did she have the choice to make this room her office? Or did she somehow make the entrance to the tunnels herself, so she'd have a quick way to escape the Watcher's gaze? Leitner probably could have used the Seven Lamps of Architecture to get an entrance exactly to her office. Or maybe she had other ways, she and Dekkar really liked concrete, maybe they knew a few people in construction xD
"Have you ever left a crowded room, and literally felt the silence as you walked out into the night? It was something like that, a sudden, quiet absence." - Like when you feel being watched for hours on end and suddenly that weight is taken off your shoulders?
"I didn’t even have the excuse of the corridors all looking the same, as they varied significantly in height and construction." / "This place, it felt more organic in its unpredictability, as though it had been intended to be used, to be travelled, but had gotten twisted somehow." / "I found spaces that seemed intended as rooms, but without doors. Elsewhere, there were doors that seemed simply attached to the walls." - Like they have been shuffled around?
"I found myself wondering whether that was where Martin had found her." - Thinking quite a lot about Martin there, eh?
"Inside the circle, the stone was… wrong somehow. Solid, but oddly wavy, like chocolate that’s melted and then rehardened." - So even though the ritual never could have succeeded, it did at least something to their reality.
"I had done what research I could on Millbank. First proposed and designed in 1799 by Jeremy Bentham, a philosopher who wished to test his theories of the panopticon prison, where cells would be arranged in a circle around a single, central, guard tower, so all cells were observable at once." - First time Panopticon name drop! That is something which to this day I find one of the most remarkable uses of… basically anything that exists… for this story. I didn't even know what a panopticon was before that! And it fits so well with Beholding.
"That was when I heard the noises again. They could have been footsteps, I suppose, but if so they were soft, quiet. Was someone running around those tunnels barefoot?" - … I will send you the post in a separate ask^^ You know what I'm talking about, right?
"I am not a brave man. I believe I am starting to come to terms with that fact, but I am, in certain circumstances, a very stubborn one." - No don't say that, you are so very brave! T.T
"Only an empty wine bottle, the label all but rotted away, but the year was still legible as 2003. The passages here were more pronounced in their difference than the ones further up, some being so irregular and seamless as to almost seem organic, while others were almost unnervingly square and regular, with sharp angles and precisely laid bricks." - Okay hear me out, Jurgen Leitner home makeover show! Does it spark fear?
"I turned back, and immediately noticed that the wall opposite me was closer than it had been before. I took a step back in shock, and my feet hit the wall behind me. The passage was getting narrower, though I could not see any movement." - Effect of the Seven Lamps of Architecture
"I heard a single word, clear as day: “Leave.”" - Leitner returning from his nightly visit to the loo finding the stupid new Archivist standing in the middle of his bedroom…
At this point I don't know which of the two I find funnier, Jon or Leitner xD
Jon spending hours and hours of his time exploring the tunnels, preparing for the excursion, making a 20 minutes statement only then to go "Supplemental. I don’t care about the tunnels, or the secrets they might hide." You're lying to yourself and you know it!
"If you’re hearing this, I assume you’re my replacement, following my death or disappearance" - crying
"Trust can get you killed." - crying even more
Okay, so I was veeeery happy about the fact that this season would contain more story about the archival team aka the supplemental parts! The statements of course were cool, but they felt very distant to the story. They weren't directly endangering our characters here, or only on rare occasions and then it led to the story being focused of the archival team.
Jurgen Leitner being the sneaky mystery in the tunnels puts everything terrifying Jon is experiencing in such funny context I bet anything that Jon later on thought back to these scary memories and either face palmed or choked from laughter

MAG 91 - baking apple pie
After being all brave and sassy with Jude Jon definitely has learned a lesson or two about meeting up with avatars, although this one seems a lot nicer. Offering him a cup of tea instead laughing at him and threatening him.
JON "I… Where did you get that scar?" [LONG SIGH AS THE SOUND OF RUSHING AIR RISES] MIKE "And I was trying so hard to be polite." - Well, that lesson wasn't enough though…
MIKE "The air… it doesn’t… leave your lungs like you expect it to." - I hate falling, so I never did anything like bungee or something like that… But sometimes when it's super stormy outside it feels like the storm blows the air you want to breath out of your mouth. Terrible feeling.
"Not unless that’s what happened to your hand, but I’m guessing that burn came from sticking it somewhere it wasn’t wanted. And you still didn’t learn." - Yeah, even Crew knows it..
"The part that always bothered me was how I didn’t remember it. Not really." - Ohhh, does the "not really" flood already slowly start here? I know in S4 there's sooo many of them, and we heard it in S1 and 2 also a couple of times.
"Did you know that Lichtenberg figures are fractals?" / "The thing that chased me, you see, it was an arcing branch of the Twisting Deceit, taken shape to follow me. But the shape it had taken more rightly belonged to the sky. To those same vast unknowable heights that blessed book wanted to take me." - Another one of those edges, a phenomenon of the sky bleeds into It Is Not What It Is.
Daisy is so brutal… Kicking Crew a few additional times just to be sure… And we see some of her apologist nature. Tricking herself into only hunting monsters.
JON "So… so what now? You kill us? …" DAISY "You think he’s going to save you?" JON "What? What, no –" [GUNSHOT] [JON CRIES OUT] - again, Daisy. Is. So. Brutal. She just shot a dude right in front of Jon. Because it's fun to see his fear…
DAISY "One packet cigarettes, Silk Cut. One lighter, gold, spiderweb design. Hm." - Oh hi there you sneaky little thing! Also Jon totally smoking again…
God, hearing Jon gurgling and whimpering is so hard to listen to.
DAISY "You been following me, Basira?" - Basira is Daisy's soft spot… How her voice wavers here.
DAISY "You don’t know what he is. You don’t know what it’s like to have your secrets pulled out like teeth, just because he asked?" - On my first listen I didn't understand what all this "stop asking question" and then they just answer them as all about. This is when it finally clicked.
JON "I thi- I thi- I think it was Elias." DAISY "Yeah. Well he’s on my list too." - Lol, that tone in Daisy's voice.
JON "What about Mike?" DAISY "Who? Oh. Grab a spade." - Can you imagine, fours days ago Jon got his palm completely burned and now this murder cop tells him to dig a hole to bury the person she just shot in front of him or she'll shoot him too if she's merciful or cut his throat if she's not.
Godd poor guy

MAG 86 - apple cutting while watching my spouse play Ghosts of Tsushima
Tim really isn't good at this XD
TIM "Regarding his unavoidable and gruesome end. How he tried to hide. He couldn’t." - Did I mention anywhere in these last few episodes that I love the inescapability in TMA? ^^
TIM "It’s not you. It’s his fault. He didn’t warn you properly" - I'm sorry to say that I started to properly dislike Tim in this season. I knoooow, his mental health is super low, but it's not the job of others to let themselves be treated by Tim however he wants. Tim has every right to be pissed off at Jon for stalking him. But blaming everybody else for things they had no hand in doing is just unfair. Stop it. Get some help.
TIM "Wait. Tell me about the two Sashas." - T_T
Yeah, like I said. I know Tim's at the end of… everything. It IS super sad. But the way he's handling it I wouldn't stay near him for the sake my own health.
So, how do you make a clap marker visible on magnetic tape?
I have a nightlight since I was I don't know how old, 10? Maybe even younger… My mum bought salt lamps for me and my sister. Still have it (I'm 32….). I want to be able to see the spiders at night.
"I’ve heard that being exposed to the source of your terror over and over again can help break its power over you, numb you to it, but in my experience it just teaches you to hide from it." - Yeah, I'm not big on exposure therapy either. It's cruel.
"and there was this rancid smell pervading the place" / "The rancid odour that I’d caught wind of outside was stronger in here" / "It looked like a large, wet bag, glistening and slick, with a dark liquid that oozed from it onto the floor." / "with whatever gross liquid had soaked into that thick fabric." / "And as I stood there, in utter horror, the growing pool of dark liquid touched the tip of my shoe. That’s it. That’s the moment that I believe it started for me." - The idea of this dark, foul smelling fluid being a thing of darkness is so unique! I mean, water can be dark, but usually it takes a certain depth where light won't reach down anymore. And this wouldn't explain the smell.
17:15 "I could see them flicking out and spasming wildly", right after "spasming" sound of something brushing some equipment.
"Fear had given way to routine." - That recurring theme of becoming used to fear <3
"And it said, 'The blanket never did anything.'" - Oh yes, I got goosebumps! It don't find that statement particularly scary since we got a description of the monster. But the way to music spikes and Lydia's absolute banger performance of a creepy, hissing whisper makes this particular line just sooooo good!
"and pictures of the guy emerging topless from waterfalls. Hmm, wasn’t bad-looking," - Did Martin put those photos in the file ¬‿¬
Throwing the fact of Melanie being overly skeptic onto the "Jon and Melanie are similar" pile XD
MELANIE "W– I mean, it’s not… it’s not like you’ve got any reason to kill me." JON '[NON-COMMITTAL SOUND]' MELANIE "Fine." - Lol.
Petition to get s3 Tim therapy?
Also I am in agreement, Lydia’s performance is absolutely amazing here.

MAG 56 - back to apple cutting!
"Perhaps I just got the smell of them." - Already super Hunt-y.
"There’s a sharpness to them. They’re hunters. But over the years I’ve become a hunter as well and maybe predators recognize each other." - I'm actually pretty sure they do. Just because an animal is a predator doesn't mean the are on top of the food chain. Cats for example are predators but stand in the middle of the food chain. They have to be wary of other bigger predators in order to not to become prey themselves.
"The hunt is a purpose. It’s not just a way to get through the day, it’s a reason for there to be a day at all." - Already foreshadowing that fledgling Avatars have to feed their "god" or it will feed on them.
"I couldn’t focus, couldn’t do anything, so I hit him again. Hard. In the head. And then he was quiet" - Thank you, Jonny, for not taking head injuries lightly! I hate that in movies. People hitting others on the head, sometimes even more than once and the victim seems fine except for a concussion. You are very likely dead after those hits I've seen in movies. And then you get people doing this in real life and go surprised Pikachu face when they find out, that they actually killed them.
11:37 "Because that’s what I thought it was, you know.", right after "you know" strange whistling sound in the background.
"Vampires were what lurked in the dark. The only thing that lurked in the dark." - I did very much appreciate this in Dog Soldiers. Oftentimes in monster movies there's only this one type of monster and everything else is still fiction. In Dog Soldiers there's actually the question raised, if werewolves exist what else is out there. On the opposite it reminds me a bit of Special Unit 2, a TV series. The boss of SU2 explains to the newbie "Everything's real! Dragons, gnomes, spider people… Except for vampires. They are pure fiction. Don't know what idiot came up with that idea!" XD Laughed so hard.
"when she locked eyes with me, and the weirdest sensation began to flow through me. I wanted to leave." / "I’ve been sober for three years at that point but I felt like I desperately wanted to get high, and I knew that the best place to get some was out in the night." - Web/addiction connection!
"Looking back I think it might have been my own mind rationalizing the way I felt my will being tugged out of the room, but it was still very powerful. If I hadn’t had a lifetime’s experience identifying and fighting off the effect of the vampire’s gaze I probably would have done it too. But I did, so I stood my ground." - Ok this is remarkable, being able to withstand the control of the Web. I was already announcing in my ask to MAG 10, that I have a theory there and that I would lay it out in MAG 56. This came to me after a friend of mine with a Husky told me, that her dog had slurped up a huge spider directly off the wall just when she was casually walking by. I thought "Ha, Hunt beating the Web" for funsies, but it made me think. Shortly after this I coincidentally listen to MAG 56 while in the car (it was my husband's relisten) and this came up. And it made me think… I think the Desolation is not the only Entity opposing to the Web. The Hunt is also capable of this! (Pokemon type chart Hunt super effective!)
Aaand we get to the JonMartin part. After MAG 22 Jon really got better, he only mentioned Martin in an a bit exasperated tone in MAG 26 ("It always happens to him") and then there's a bit of stressed out conversation in MAG 39 which was widely very open though (and being stressed in a situation of being trapped by the Flesh Hive is understandable). I think this is actually the first time since MAG 22 that Jon was an arse to Martin.
MARTIN "Sorry, who’s… who’s Trev–" JON "Trevor Herbert. The tramp? The vampire hunter." - Lol, that could be a conversation between me and my spouse. They often forget what I told them and I will have to elaborate in great detail what I was talking about.
JON "I can’t forget it. Everyone in this place has so many goddamn secrets and I can’t trust a word you say. Not about this and not about Trevor –" MARTIN "Jon, just–" JON "[shouting] Martin!" - Ok, let's take a look at this. Jon is reaaaally spiraling into his fear there. He's building up his paranoia in those last few sentences with this line being the culmination and only the tiniest stimulus could be the last straw. And it was. Martin again trying to deflect broke the camel's back and Jon snaps. I don't know if I should be angry at him in this specific scene, or sad. Because this is such a low, even for Jon. He completely lost it there.
JON "…what." - He's immediately deflating.
MARTIN "But most of my employment details are made up. I’m only 29." - Since the previous statement was live (3rd November 2016) we have a pretty good idea were in the timeline we are right now. We know that Martin's birthday is in summer since they went for ice cream, so we can tell exactly when Martin was born - 1987.
JON "Yes, um, I jus… I won’t mention it to Elias. Just between us." - He sound so, sooo relieved indeed. I'm also totally on board with the headcanon that Jon WANTS Martin to be innocent. Jon doesn't admit it at this point but he likes Martin, he trusts Martin. And that shows by believing him.
This is an uncomfortable scene but I think it's different than Jon's pre-MAG 22 hostility to Martin. He's not an arse because he doesn't care about Martin. It's because he actually does care about Martin and is genuinely scared to lose him.
It is amazing just how much foreshadowing there is to the Entities in seasons one and two.

MAG 33 - I think I accidentally skipped this episode during my first run because when I heard it on my second listen I didn't remember any of it, not Tim and not the statement. I think that's also why I totally missed the Lukas family until Peter Lukas himself stepped into the Institute. So… When I first listened to this episode, I was on my way home from the dentist.
"Boatswain" - one of many English words, of which I don't understand why it's pronounced the way it is.
Ha Tim, back when he was still a cheery character.
Oh someone's pissy when they realize they made mistakes…
You hear voices in the background, like the door is open and we can hear all the commotion of a workday in the Institute.
"Ohhh… okay… Alright, so what happens if more than one statement is given on the same day?" - Well, if it's intentional like MAG 39 and 40 it just gets the suffix A and B. But if it's… probably unintentional? (like MAG 15 and MAG 150… though the 1 and 5 coincident is funny…) nothing, just the same statement number.
God, hearing Jon spiraling into the stress of the chaotic Archive pluuuus him feeling that there's something very wrong with some of those statements is really sad to hear…
"It’s getting bad. I mean, Martin keeps showing me his tongue (uncomfortable laugh) and asking if it “looks infested”." - hehehehe
05:06 "container ship", thump… Is some of this intentional? With 4 of these in the previous episode and now again and the statement hasn't even started yet…
"Well, that and my bad Spanish." - ok, the majority in Brazil speaks Portuguese and not Spanish. I tried to google Spanish-speaking regions but all I can find is like, close to borders with Spanish-speaking countries. Porto do Itaqui is not near a border. I thiiiink, I remember them talking about this in a Q&A or something? That this region is Spanish-speaking? However, I did also google Itaqui (without the "Porto do"), which actually is near a border, but it's not the same as Porto do Itaqui!!! XD Porto do Itaqui is in the north of Brazil and Itaqui is in the south bordering to Argentina, which would probably make sense for this region to speak Spanish xDD
Just the nature of this statement, having a work place requiring a group with a secretly creepy boss… Having one space, which will be occupied by another "victim", only to then purposefully get rid of one member to do it all again… It reminds me of Krabat, a German fantasy book by Otfried Preußler (Haaa, get a load of this letter! ß!). It's really cool, if anyone wants to check it out, it's been translated into English and by googling this I found out it's apparently one of Neil Gaiman's favorite scary stories for children! Cool, didn't know that. I grew up with Krabat, so there's that.
"Hell, not being too comfortable around people is a damn fine reason to go to sea." - Yeah but… What if the crew is like reaaaally shitty and then I'm stuck on a fucking boat with them for God knows how long, having to work with them…
21:31 "interesting", thump.
22:27 "Elias", thump (understandable xD).
22:39 "this", thump
22:52 "UK" and "even", thump thump, the hell??
22:58 (twothousandand)"ten", thump…
I propose a new Magnus drinking game: Every time you hear a thump, drink!
It's the eyes surrounding Jon bouncing off the walls
