The mum had survived a very serious heart attack earlier this year, so this gift was very special indeed and in honour, as well as a reflection of the beautiful qualities the mum possesses. My eldest walked in from work and burst out laughing saying that I have managed to capture my 'resting bitch face'. I am shocked! I truly didn't think I had one. Just an angry mum face. Matter of perspective I guess... My first self portrait in progress. Next time I will paint my portrait with my glasses on so I can actually see myself as I paint and also not after several nights binge festing on Netflix shows. Will also try to crack a smile. Was exploring deep body shame, ageing and insufficient self love as I started this piece.
