"I'll do anything for a woman with a knife."
🩷 w/luke? xoxo
we tried something different with a wee historical fiction/prince au🤠they are not my forte but i wanted to try challenging myself. thank you for requesting!🫶🏽
22. "I'll do anything for a woman with a knife."
.
Luke had always found the royal festivities to be tedious and long winded.
Maybe it was because they very rarely focused on him, with most guests taking interest in his parents or his older brothers—Quinn especially, being next in line to the throne. Or maybe—just fucking maybe—he found them tedious and long winded and boring because they were.
He wasn’t even sure what the reasoning behind this one was, if he was being completely honest. Though, there was never usually a good reason for many of the high class patrons of the kingdom to deny the chance to be invited into the castle or flaunt their pretty fabrics. But Luke had to assume this one was semi-important if people from neighbouring kingdoms—people of importance—were making the journey.
Still, it did little to make him feel anything but utter boredom as he did his rounds. He flashed the guests a few smiles, usually letting Jack or Quinn take over the conversation. And once he had shown his face for a socially appropriate amount of time, he found himself sneaking off in the shadows to find something to occupy himself before his father’s expected speech.
Usually, he would find himself sneaking into the kitchens to see if the staff would slip him a few desserts before dinner or some snacks to entertain him with.
This time around, Luke didn’t even make it to the secret corridor that led down the kitchen before he was pressed against the wall, his breath knocked out of his lungs and something cold pressed against his neck.
“Shit,” you hissed, only your eyes visible to the boy as you glanced over his face.
Maybe it was the adrenaline pumping through him that didn’t have him thinking straight. Maybe it was the excitement for something different to happen at this ball.
Or maybe Luke just lacked common sense and self-preservation because the only response he managed after a random woman dressed in all black with a knife pressed against his throat was, “pick the wrong prince?”
You blinked. “You matched the description.”
“So…I was the right prince?” He asked, something akin to amusement in his voice and it threw you off.
“Do you have your life threatened often?” You questioned, partially rhetorical because a part of you was genuinely interested in the answer. “You seem very calm.”
“I just assumed if you wanted me dead, I would have been dead already,” he replied honestly, making no move to try and escape your hold. He had a feeling you would bury that knife in him before he even got the chance to take a step.
“I could still kill you if you don’t listen to what I say,” you told him, and he knew better than to question how truthful you were with that promise.
But still, Luke was young and sheltered and spent far too much of his time trapped in the castle, learning how to be a prim and proper gentleman. There was something thrilling about you and, for reasons his own brain couldn’t comprehend, he didn’t want to lose your attention just yet.
“I’ll do anything for a woman with a knife,” he retorted, his lips twitching upwards when he noticed your eyes widen slightly in response.
“It’s like you have a death wish,” you grumbled, the edge of your blade digging a little further into his skin.
“So if I wasn’t your target, who was?” He asked casually, like you were two acquaintances catching up. Like there wasn’t the possibility of someone turning the corner and finding the two of you. Like there weren't guards already starting to notice his absence.
“None of your business,” you snapped, your eyes narrowed in annoyance. He wondered if you were contemplating whether or not he was worth killing and adding the extra hassle for.
“It seems like my business when you have a blade to my throat,” Luke added cheekily.
“You have no sense of survival,” you told him like it was an insult.
He grinned. “Perks of being a prince, I assume.”
“I don’t have time for this,” you grumbled and, in a blink of his eye, you were already three paces away from him. “You’re distracting me.”
He pushed down the uneasy feeling in his chest the second you were no longer pressed against him, the second your eyes were no longer on him. “Will I see you again?”
You paused, tilting your head to the side. He couldn’t see your mouth but he had the strongest sense that you were smirking beneath your mask.
“Depends what kind of enemies you plan to make, Your Highness.”

WARNINGS: absolutely none. Just some pure, sweet content.
PAIRING(S): Luke Hughes x Fem!Reader
SUMMARY: in which Fem!Reader wakes up Luke Hughes to confess her love.
“Hey.” Y/N poked Luke’s chest, hearing a low groan rumble underneath her cheek. “Luke?” She shoved his chest, making him groan as his arms tightened around her. His upper body was bare, and the warm skin against hers felt like home, but it was simply not enough to have her go to sleep. “Luke, wake up. C’mon.” She insisted, and he huffed, cracking an eye open and glaring at her through a squinted and sleep-hazed gaze.
“What?” Oh, he sounded a little tired. Maybe she should’ve let him sleep.
“You awake?” Y/N asked him, anyway.
“I am now.” He mumbled. Well, he was already awake, so she might as well indulge in it now. “Need something, baby?”
“Just missed you is all.” Y/N pouted. Hearing that made him grin despite the way he yawned, all wide and smooth even as he fought the sleep in his eyes. She felt just a bit guilty, reaching to cup his cheek and running a thumb over his eyelid carefully.
“Yeah?” Luke chuckled quietly. “I’m right here. You still miss me?”
“Yeah.” Y/N whispered. “I always miss you, even when you’re right here.”
Luke was grinning into her cheek as he leaned down and pressed a wet kiss to the skin. He couldn’t possibly be mad that she’d waken him up so late. He couldn’t be mad when it was her, and it was him, and it was each other. Sleep could wait, there was always time for that later. But there was never a moment where he wanted to risk counting on later when it came to her.
“What’d you miss about me?” Luke hummed, nibbling on her earlobe as his head buried into her neck.
Y/N shifted, letting his body tuck against hers as her arms wrapped around him. He felt safe like this, somehow. Infinity didn’t make him feel nearly as secure as the way her arms did, tight and warm and made just for holding him. “I don’t know.” She murmured. “Everything.”
“Love me that much?” He asked cheekily. “Me sleeping right beside you just isn’t enough?”
“No.” Y/N huffed. “You can’t pay attention to me in your sleep.”
Smiling softly, he pressed delicate kisses to her cheeks before connecting her lips, humming into the kiss as his hand rubbed up her spine. “My needy baby.” Luke snickered, rubbing circles into the small of her back with his large palm.
Luke was warm against her, she could feel the rhythm of his heart as it beat against her body. He was pressed so close to her, that not even air could slip through the cracks. Truthfully, she didn’t know why she woke Luke. She didn’t know why she couldn’t sleep, she just knew that she needed him more and more and even more.
“Luke?” Y/N asked quietly, making him hum as his eyes drooped back shut slowly. He must really be tired.
Y/N stared at him fondly, stroking his curls as he sighed happily at the feeling, and then she pressed a kiss to his forehead, to his cheek, to the corner of his eyes where they crinkle when he smiles, and to those lips of his that always found hers no matter how long it took. He always came back to her. Always. He never wouldn’t, that much she trusted.
“Got something on your mind, baby?” Luke asked slowly, voice thick with sleep. She giggled, scratching at his scalp as he smiled lightly. He was dozing off and she was watching him, hopelessly endeared.
“I love you.” Y/N whispered. “I need you to know that. I love you so, so much.”
Luke cracked an eye open, staring at her like she was the reason his heart ever started beating, like she was the only one that could ever command it to stop. Every inch of his face was laced with love so gentle, she could see the way it made his skin glow. She loved him. She was sure he loved her. That was all she needed to know it’ll be fine. Everything else was an afterthought, just as long as she had Luke.
“Woke me just to confess your love for me?” Luke gasped. “You’re down bad. Real, real bad. I must be a super handsome, totally awesome boyfriend. I do try, you know.” He said cheekily.
Y/N giggled, rolling her eyes as she pinched his cheek. “Be humble, you jerk.” She said exasperatedly. It sounded more like she was in love, too much fondness slipping into her voice that it might make her teeth hurt from how sweet. Luke’s always had a sweet tooth, though. He accepted her love graciously, like it was never too much. In fact, it might just not be enough. He needed more.
“Can’t.” Luke said slowly, yawning again. “You waking me up just to love me is a bit ego boosting.”
“This was a mistake.” Y/N scoffed. It was playful, and it was fond. It sounded like deeply falling headfirst.
“Awe, c’mon.” Luke pouted, and then he was brushing his lips against her neck a he clung closer to her, curling into her body with his six-foot-something stature as she pulled the blanket tighter around him. “I love you, too. What was it you said again? Oh, right. So, so much.”
“Good.” Y/N hummed, nodding in satisfaction. “You better.”
“I do.” He chuckled. “Can I sleep now? Or are we gonna start talking about all the things we love about each other? Because I can stay up to listen to that, of course.”
“Go to sleep, you idiot.” Y/N scoffed. He grinned, and she pressed one last kiss to his forehead as she counted the soft breaths he took while he fell back asleep. She loved him, and it was all she ever wanted to do.

when you’re just newly in a relationship, you can’t get your hands off of each other. wanting to fuck everywhere, all the time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
luke’s hands grip at my hips as he pins me against the shower wall, my back arching off the cold tiles as his fingers dig into me. his tongue takes up my mouth, our lips moving in hungry motions, always wanting more of each other. his lips bite down on my bottom one, pulling me, making me want more.
he pulls back, watching as his cock sits between my thighs, the tip lightly rubs against my clit. brushing against my folds as he moves his hips closer to me. the water runs down my body, hair drenched and pressed to my back, luke’s curls stick to his forehead as the water trickles down behind him.
i watch as he softly thrusts his hips slowly between my thighs, i can feel myself getting wetter above him, ready for him to slide into me. my pussy clenches, trying to get some type of satisfaction as my hole waits to be filled by him. i can’t take it anymore. “please luke.” my voice comes out in a whimper, showing how needy i am for him.
he smirks, dropping his head lower so our eyes are level. “you’re so needy huh? you just want to be fucked like the slut you are already?” he husks in my ear. my legs can’t help but shake, knees turning into jello as he tells me exactly what i want to hear.
i bite my bottom lip innocently, nodding my head to his words. he takes his cock in his hand, moving it up for the tip to slide against my needy pussy. “you’re soaked for me already?” he smirks. his other hand still grips my hip, hand marks digging into my sensitive skin. my breath is shaking, knees buckling and heart quickening.
luke finally guides the tip of his length to my clenching hole, swiftly sliding in, he lets me adjust to his size. stretching me out, he’s only half way in when i feel full, but he keeps going, he knows i can take it. my nails dig into his shoulders as he keeps going, eyes squinted shut as i wait for him to be fully in. “you going to take it for me like a good girl?” luke asks as he sees me in a pained manner.
“yeah, i just need to adjust. you’re so fucking big.” he can’t help but smirk when i praise him for his long thick cock. he’s finally all in, letting me get used to him.
both his hands go back to my hips, softly lifting me up so my legs are on either side of him and my back is still pressed against the wall. “you ready?” he asks me. even though luke likes to fuck me rough, he always makes sure i’m comfortable with it. i nod, giving him just what he needs to start his hips.
he starts slowly first, letting me get used to him being inside me again. he doesn’t stay for that for long, every stroke gets faster and deeper. my nails dig into his shoulders, eyes staring deep into his as my back arches off of the tiles. my moans fill the shower, bouncing back into luke’s ears to feed his pleasure.
his hands are underneath my thighs, his thick fingers gripping my soft skin leaving me moaning for more. “you like that baby?” he asks in my ear, pressing his lips against my neck, sucking at all the spots he knows are sensitive. “fuck you’re so tight, made to fit this cock.”
right under my jaw, he works it. lightly biting and sucking on my skin making me squirm. i can feel my stomach tightening up, my walls clenching around him again making him groan against my skin. i roll my head back against the wall, opening up more space for luke’s lips to adventure. “i’m almost there luke.” i moan out. luke’s hips don’t stop for a second, pumping back and forth against me constantly.
his tip presses against my g-spot making my moans get ten times louder. “i’m going to need you to wait baby, wait for me to cum in you.” i groan, the excruciating wait for him to finish. the warmth of my core making it so easy for him to catch up with me. he lets out a breathless, “okay baby.” as i let my stomach unclench, my lungs needing more air to breath in then what’s provided.
he slowed down, riding both of our highs but being careful not to hurt me. i fall onto his shoulder, resting my head in the crook of his neck. our chest heave in sync, he carefully pulls out of me, holding me for longer to let me regain myself.
as i finally come back to my senses he lets me down, i have to hold onto his hard bicep to keep my self from falling. luke wipes my hair off my sweaty and wet forehead, leading me back into the main stream of the shower.

Fake Boyfriend | L. Hughes
pairing: Luke Hughes x f!reader

warnings: bad ex, creepy dude?
summary: After your ex spotted you at a party, you use Luke as your escape but he won't believe you to are dating, leaving you to prove you two are.
requested: no

Tumblr media
The feeling of his eyes, staring at your every move was haunting. You couldn’t ignore him even if you tried, keeping close to your friends at the party.
“We’re getting drinks, can you keep our spot?”
You nodded, assuming nothing of it, just keep an eye out, making sure he’d stay away.
Him being your ex, him being the man who treated people horrible, him being only here to stare down innocent girls. Yet no one had kicked him out yet, leaving him to glare at you all night. He practically pounded up when your friends were two feet away, his walk towards you fast, making panic rise in you.
“Shit.” you mumbled, getting up, surrendering the spot you were saving, to heading over towards the group of hockey players you had somehow befriended.
“BABY!” Rutger cheered as you walked over, glancing over at your ex who gave a more infuriated glare.
“I told you not to call me that!” you groaned, sliding under his arms, tucking into his side.
“We were about to go on a snack run, you coming?”
“Sorry Rut, came here with friends.” he let out a dramatic sigh, falling onto the floor to add. “Get up.” you groaned, lightly kicking him. He slowly got up, making an effort to complain the entire time.
You had managed an hour, one whole hour you lost your creepy ex. But of course he’d find you again, before Rutger and the others would return.
“No no.” you whispered, tears slightly welling in your eyes, when you saw him strutting towards you again, making you quickly turn to find someone.
Your eyes catching sight of Luke, who stood against the wall, surrounded by a few of his friends. Choosing he was the best bet, bee-lining to him, pushing yourself against him when you reached.
“Help.” you whispered, your body now in his arms, making him give you a confused look, maybe disoriented too.
“What?”
“Kiss me.”
“What-”
His words cut off by your ex, keeping his strut as he came over.
“What’re you doing with my girl, Hughes?” Luke could see the look you were giving him, the scared look that clearly informed that you were not his girl anymore and you didn’t want to be.
“What do you mean your girl? She’s mine now.” The smirk on Luke’s face pulled the entire act together, almost proud to be your fake boyfriend for now, and making your ex want to punch more than he already did.
“No she fucking isn’t! She’s mine.” his arms reached out to grab you, Luke swatting him away first.
“Leave.” Luke almost growled, his arm around your waist keeping you tucked against him. Your ex, rolling his eyes at the word.
“Prove it.” Your ex growled, glaring his eyes at Luke.
“Just leave.”
“Why should I? Clearly she’s not your girl so give me my fucking girlfriend!”
“I’m not yours anymore.” quiet words, barely audible, but heard, your ex quickly grabbing at your bicep, tugging you towards him.
“Let. Her. Go.” Luke's voice was firm, the room went quiet, watching the scene.
“Why? You want the little Slut now? Have her then!” he pushed you into Luke, letting Luke’s arms wrap around you protectively.
“Leave.” The words alone sounded threatening, yet your ex laughed at them.
“Why should I? You still got my slut, you’ve done nothing to show she’s yours so why should i leave her with you?”
“We don’t need to prove anything to you!” your ex laughed in your face, almost spitting on you, making luke push him back.
Luke was quick to turn you, facing him again before leaning down and pressing his lips to yours. Surprised would fit how you felt well, but letting yourself melt into him, tangling your hands through his hair. Luke’s hands staying on your waist, holding you against him. You barely heard your ex scoff before pushing his way out, the feeling of luke against you intoxicating. Almost whining when luke pulled away, the loss of contact leaving you cold.
“I’m sorry.” he mumbled, “I had to.”
“Don’t apologize.” you paused after the words, thinking about how you could do this without acting a fool.
Instead pulling him down to kiss you again, his arms wrapping around you again, your hands messing with the hair at the nape of his neck. Slowly running your hands through more of his hair, lightly tugging the curls earning a groan.
“Baby,”
“Hey careful there, you’re going to have to fight with Rutger to call me that.” he laughed at the words, his head falling on your shoulder, pressing a kiss to your neck.
“What are we now?” the words just slipped, curiosity fighting the part of you that just wanted to stay like this forever clearly, leaving a surprised look on your face to match his.
“What?”
“I know you heard me, Luke.” you groaned, trying to turn away, him gripping your waist before you could.
“What do you want us to be?” the words making heat rise to your cheeks, leaning into his chest. Mumbling out words, inaudible to everyone else.
“What was that, baby girl?”
“I want you.” he grinned at the words, pulling you up, peppering your face with more kisses.
“Good, because I’ve wanted you for years.”
You pulled back at the words, looking at him for a minute before speaking.
“Years?”
“Since you got here.”
“I thought you hated me, Luke, you never spoke to me, you never even looked at me.”
“Baby girl, I barely speak to anyone, everytime i tried to look at you I got flustered.” his cheeks reddening at the confession, an endearing smile grew on your face, letting you cup his cheeks.
Placing a kiss on his lips, letting him pull you tight against him again. Melting into the kiss, letting your hands travel, sliding under the top of his shirt, tangling in his hair again, earning more groans.
“Home, yeah?”
“Yeah.” you nodded, placing a kiss on his nose to see the red color that covered his face after.

← day six. surprise finale. →
────────────
you two had met when he came out to visit jack before the season started after he graduated from highschool. you had also just graduated, and was in new york with your best friend, her mom and your's for your present. you two had been walking into the coffee bar at the hotel in manhattan when you guys bumped into one another. you nearly fell on your butt, but the strong, tall and lanky dude instantly out of reflex, grabbed your arm before you lost your balance. your best friend sasha, stood to your side and gawked. who was this cutie and how did he do that so fast? jack and quinn were with him, and smiled at their younger brother was instantly smitten. throughout both of their stays, they met up a ton at the hotel pool and restaurant with their family that they were with. you revealed that you'd be coming to new jersey in the fall to study Exercise Science and Kinesiology just like luke would be at the U of M. the two of you immediatley clicked, exchanging numbers and social media accounts. then your trip was over, before their's and you made your way back to boston where you and your best friend was from.
fast forward to christmas 2022, two years after they began to date long distance. you would drive or take the train to meet him at away games with sasha and your other friends. you two would meet up in michigan, new york, boston or the hughes lake house for various breaks; before the lake house was sold. you brought out the very best in luke, and vice versa. you brought him out of his comfort zone, no longer the shy hughes boy around people. the two of you were very smitten with one another but these past few months after the last time you saw one another in late august; was difficult. the two of you constantly bickering, going days without texting or facetiming. using academics, prior commitments and other things as different excuses. everything was just 'off'. both of your friend groups together and just as themselves, realized that you two were going through a rough patch. they knew you two loved one another, but it just all became too much all of a sudden. nothing was working, and collectively the friend group agreed - without telling the couple - that they thought they should take a break. they needed one, and at the very least they'd realize if they truly wanted to make the relationship work or not. hoping that this break, could solitidify the relationship and help them realize if they wanted to fight or not. because recently, they were exhausted and frankly over it.
you were in michigan at the hughes house in canton, one day before luke would be leaving, before he was heading off to nova scotia for iihf world jrs. you two were in the car, after getting dunkin and had just gotten into another argument. it was stupid and so blown out of proportion. but you two, knew that this dynamic was not working anymore. you two were oh so done with it, exhausted from fighting, exhausted from not coming to compromises or agreemants. for the first time since things started to go downhill, you were done. you looked at luke as you two sat in the drive way of his house. his hands finally unclasped the steering wheel, his knuckles no longer crimson white. you pulled some hair behind your ear and sighed, alerting luke. tears pooled your eyes as you looked over at him, and just by that expression; he knew. "i ca-can't keep doing this luke. i can't keep dreading every conversation we have, because i fear that it will just turn into an argument. i can't keep going back and fourth over nothing. i can't keep going days without hearing from you, and thinking that we are done. that you are just going to slip silently out of my life. i can't keep hoping for something that doesn't amount to anything." you sobbed, both of your hearts breaking.
luke sat their silently, looked down at his hands and stared. he couldn't look at you without crying. "i can't sleep, i can barely eat, ive been constantly getting sick the past few months. i i just am done, luke. im sorry." you confessed hunching over covering your face, and crying. your sobs broke his heart, and nodded in understanding. luke placed a hand on your back, rubbing it up and down, trying to comfort you. and then in a split second, you were in his arms as you both cried. you knew this was the end for the time being, for the near future. "i wanna say that there is hope for us but everday i wake up and don't feel hopeful anymore. and i can no longer force it." luke started, "i don't know if i can anymore. trying to force something that isn't their anymore. i love you so much y/n but i think we need some space for awhile. especially with me leaving after the season, i think it's time we step back for a bit." luke explained, and you nodded. you agreed wholeheartedly. the following few hours were spent in securing a last minute flight, now that you were no longer traveling to nova scotia with his parents. you were leaving that evening for boston, and soon enough you were at the airport.
you sat next tp luke as the two of you said your goodbyes, atleast for a year. luke much to his dismay, agreed that it would be best to wait until he was in new jersey full time to continue your relationship. he placed his hands gently on your face, "i love you so much y/n but am prepared to let you go, ok? i cant promise our future or your future, i can't say that we will be together in a year but please don't wait for me. please try to move on in some way, and i will try to do the same." luke said with tears streaming down his cheeks. you nodded, wiping your own. "i will, i promise." you said as your voice cracked, breaking both of your hearts. "i love you lukey i love you so much." you said before kissing with much passion and sorrow. you two pulled apart, resting eachothers forheads against one another's for a few seconds before you pulled apart. you sniffled, wiping your nose and hopped out. luke sat their looking out through the windshield, as you grabbed your suitcases and carry on. he watched as your dropped your bags off at the baggage check. that was the last time for a year, he'd be seeing you. it took him a minute and a traffic guy to yell at him through the window for him to drive off. he no longer saw your hair, or your bags. knowing you were gone from his life for the time being.
this time, next year - hopefully.
luke's first season in new jersey.
your family was staying at soho house in new york city, a 30 minute drive from newark where the hughes brother lived. your family was celebrating this year in new york, something the family hadn't done for years. there was something special about christmas in new york, especially when you had somebody to share it with. you smiled up at harrison her boyfriend of 8 months. his family being natives of the city, invited them over for christmas eve once they heard their plans to spend the week in nyc. harrison and her were currently in front of macys storefront, looking at the christmas windows and walking all over manhattan. popping in to different stores, all over downtown new york. they walked into ralphs coffee after walking from saks fifth avenue, down the street. they were standing in line to place their order as luke noticed a familiar laugh in the cafe. he instantly began to look around, and at long last, his eyes laid on you. jack finally caught on to where he was staring, and saw you. his eyes went wide, hitting luke in the chest. "ow, what was that for?" luke demanded shooting a glare at his older brother. "its y/n!!!" jack said freaking out, which luke rolled his eyes. "she's not alone." jack added quickly, and the family that included ellen, jim and quinn looked over at the same time. you felt eyes on you, looked past harrison and saw the family that you once though of as your own. your breath stalled in your chest, before you looked at harrison and shifted a bit, so he was now blocking you from their view.
you took ahold of harrison's hand, leaned up and pecked him. he smiled, wrapping his arms around your lower back, placed a quick kiss on your head before releasing you from his arms. "should we head over to the hotel next?" you questioned, and he nodded. you two ordered your usuals, and then moved over to look at merchandise waiting for your coffee. thankfully the coffee shop was next to the parking garage that you two had parked in and so it gave you a few minutes to linger in ralph lauren before harrison pulled the car up. you were looking at men's suit ties, hoping to find one last gift for harrison. you felt a familiar presence near you, and you looked up and jack and luke in the next aisle whispering rapidly. you sighed, walking off into another section hoping they would not follow. "y/n?" you heard luke from beside you. you looked up from the men's accessories, and took in all 6'2 of him. you swallowed nervously, before looking away. you adjusted your purse and bags, before feeling your phone ding with a text from harrison. "wait, y/n!" luke said as you were about to walk off. you stopped instantly, and slowly turned around to luke. you said a silent plea in his eyes, and you nodded already knowing what he was gonna say or ask. "little owl, tonight, 7:30 pm." was all you said before walking off.
once you got in the car, harrison grabbed your hand and put them in the middle console, and you smiled softly as you drove off towards the hotel.
it was now 7:30 pm, and you had just sat down and waited for luke. luke appeared in the small pub style restaurant and looked for you. he found you and made his way over. you stood up and he leaned over and hugged you. you didn't realized how much you missed the familiar wamrth, scent and now much stronger arms. he sat down across from you, and the waitress came up and asked for drink orders. you two ordered your usuals and a charcuterie board. you both felt comfortable right off the bat again, like it was only yesterday you two had been together. "how's school?" he questioned as you skimmed the menu, you looked up catching his eye. you looked back at the menu, blushing. "its good, going to be graduating early this year." you admitted and luke smiled. "you always were a smart cookie." he grinned, and you smiled. "yeah, uh thanks." you said shyly. "hows the season going?" you questioned, sipping the arnold palmer that was set down. he smiled widely, "its going great. awesome, really. having jack there has been amazing too." he said and you could feel the immesnse love and passion for his game, just by him being there. it was his aura, that lit up brighter than last time you saw him. "good good. " you smiled. luke cut right to the chase, "you moved on right? thats your boyfriend?" he asked. you nodded, anxiety rising. "yeah..harrison. he goes to nyu and is a finance major. we've been dating since april." you confessed. luke nodded looking down, "but i- i haven't fully moved on luke." you added and luke looked up with hope seaping through his eyes. "at the beginning he knew that he was simply a distraction a rebound, but obviously things have changed. things are different." you paused sipping your drink, "but that doesnt really change things." you sighed. luke felt hopeful. "have you moved on?" you questioned and he shook his head. you nodded, feeling like an ass. "dont feel bad, i just didnt meet anybody that i wanted to pursue something with." he now paused sipping his drink, "because i didnt want to move on from you and what we had. i haven't stopped loving you." he said place his hand near yours, and you looked down at it. in a split second, you took ahold of his. "i haven't either." you two said both now, on the brink of crying. "i havent moved on, i cant. i dont want to." you said sniffling. thankgod for this low lighting, making this moment a bit more intimate.
3rd pov.
the two spent the evening catching up, planning for when she could come visit newark and getting the families together for christmas. now she just needed to break up with harrison and that terrified her. luke pulled up to harrison's apartment in west village, and you sighed with nerves radiating through your body. "ill be here okay?" he confirmed and she nodded, and he gave her one last hang squeeze before she got out. she nodded and got out, and walked out towards the front door of the building.
she now stood face to face with harrison, knowing she lied to him. he had ended up in the same restaurant as her family and they thought that she was with him and vice versa. that's when her sister realized the promise from last christmas, and she said something along the lines of potentially meeting up with luke. "don't lie to me y/n." harisson demanded and she shuddered. she then shrugged, "its true. i did see my ex or i guess my boyfriend. i guess we really never broke up for good...." the girl trailed off mumbling to herself. "listen, dont even try to explain yourself or defend. just leave, ill send you stuff to your apartment." harrison said, leaving the room. she swallowed, making her way out of the apartment. and never looked back.
she and luke walked hand in hand in downtown westfield, which was 30 minutes outside of newark. luke and jack had found this area when looking for coffee one day and had come back during the fall. it was christmas morning and the two were heading to go find some coffee, before heading back to newark where his family plus hers would be celebrating the holiday. once the families had realized the two were back together; they without hesitant got together for christmas eve dinner, and caught up like old times. the two of them clearly smitten, and in their own world at dinner. it was like things had never changed
the two of them walked out the coffee shop hand in hand, as light snow began to fall. the young girl smiled up at the sky and swung their hands. luke smiled down at her, she was giddy as a kid. y/n looked at him and the two of them stopped, got closer so they were now chest to chest. "i love you lukey."she smiled inching her face closer to his. he smirked, "i love you too y/n/n." he stated placing his lips on hers. she smiled into the kiss, wrapping her arms around him, and spun her around. her giggling was intoxicating.

~
Jack had never been this nervous before. Not during nationals games, not on his draft day, not on the night of his rookie debut, and not in any circumstance that he can remember. Ever. He’s not usually the type to dwell on feelings of nerves, trusting his skill and his ability to focus on the task at hand to get the job done.
Today, though, is the most nerve-wracking day of his life. It’s his wedding day, for crying out loud. The day he gets to marry the girl that has been there for every major event of his life. The girl that has never missed a Devil’s home game. The girl that he’s pretty sure his family loves more than him. The girl that has stuck by him through every hardship and crazy hockey season so far. His girl. The girl he gets to make his wife.
Hell, he wasn’t even this nervous when he asked you to marry him. He recalls the day as if it happened mere hours ago, not a year and a half earlier.
“Jack, where are we going? I thought you said you had an event with the team tonight? You’re going to be late,” you ask, noticing you’re driving further and further away from the city.
You had been doing laundry, trying to get ahead on some chores you had been neglecting, when Jack had come into the living room and told you to put your shoes on, he wanted to take you somewhere. You had asked him where, and if you needed to change, but he simply shook his head no and told you it was a surprise. This wasn’t anything out of the ordinary for Jack. You just assumed he found a new ice cream place he thought you would love, or some quaint little coffee shop he knew you’d like.
You didn’t think anything of it until you found yourself watching the city disappear into the distance almost forty-five minutes later, no destination in sight.
“We’re almost there, darling. Don’t worry that pretty little head of yours,” is all he said, taking his eyes off the road for only a moment to flash one of his soft smiles in your direction before continuing to drive.
You sit in the comfortable silence, a slow country ballad playing softly on the radio. Jack’s hand resting on your thigh adding a much-needed warmth to your body, not having grabbed a jacket before Jack dragged you out of your shared apartment. You watch the road around you become surrounded by trees, admiring the greenery that seems so hard to come by in the city.
Before you realize it, too lost in your own thoughts, Jack is turning off of the paved road you were traveling onto a dirt road, clouds of dust billowing behind the car. You lean forward a bit, trying to take in the scenery to find any sort of clue as to where you were. You’re just about to ask where he’s taking you, yet again, when you see the most beautiful scene appear through the windshield.
At the end of the road stood a large red barn, aged in all the right ways. The red was slightly faded, showcasing the years of sun damage and there were pieces of the shingled roof missing, lost in the wind who knows how long ago. Off to the left of the barn was a large area surrounded by a wooden fence, a few horses grazing on the bright green grass. The sun was just beginning to set, causing one side of the barn to be coated in golden sunlight, the other side blanketed in a shadow. As Jack turned the car to enter the field where the barn sat, you noticed the obscene number of lights strung high into the trees covered by the shadow of the barn, giving the effect that little drops of sunlight were dripping from the limbs.
“Jack…what- where are we?” You ask him, disbelief lacing your tone.
“Just a little place I stumbled across with Luke one day. We were out for a drive, just wanting out of the city for a few hours. Found this place and instantly thought of you. Knew I had to bring you here,” he reveals, parking the car and turning off the engine.
Jack opens his door to get out of the car and quickly moves to open yours, taking your hand while leading the two of you over to the forest of lights. You’re so busy looking up at the sight in the trees that you miss the large, wooden arch set up in the middle of the two biggest trees in the mini forest. There were a few hay-bales on each side of the arch, large bouquets of white daisies placed all over the bales, with some even bunched around the top corners of the square arch.
Once you take in the scene in front of you, you turn your head to look at Jack, finding his eyes already on you.
“Jack, you have about three seconds to tell me what’s going on here,” you calmly tell him, even though your stomach felt like it was doing summersaults.
“I told you, I wanted to show this place to you. Thought you’d like it.” His lips curled into an amused smile once he noticed the glare on your face, knowing you were calling his bluff.
“I wanted to show you this place, because I knew you’d like it. Because I know you. How lucky I am to know you,” he begins, slowly moving you forward until you’re standing directly in front of the arch.
“How lucky I am that I’m the person you chose to trust with your heart. How lucky I am to be able to come home to you after a hard day. How lucky I am to be the recipient of your kindness and your love. How lucky I am to bask in your happiness and your spirit day after day. How lucky I am that you put up with the crazy world I live in, and do it without complaint.”
Your hands were starting to shake at this point, eyes watering.
“What I did to deserve all of this, I’ll never know. But I know I’ll never take it for granted. I’ll never take you for granted. And if you’ll let me, I’ll spend every day of the rest of our lives telling you how thankful I am to whatever celestial being lead me to you,” Jack pauses, dropping to his knee and fishing around in his pocket for the velvet box he’s had hidden in a pair of old skates in the closet for months now.
“You are pure sunshine, shining light on every single person you meet. Y/N Y/L/N, please, let me live the rest of my life sunburnt. Marry Me.”
That was the easy part. Asking you to marry him was the quickest and easiest decision Jack had ever made in his life. He hadn’t thought twice when he called Luke on a random Thursday afternoon, telling him he needed to help him run some “errands”, driving to the nearest jeweler as soon as Luke sat in his passengers seat. Didn’t even hesitate when he called your best friend, asking if you had ever talked about what your favorite diamond cut was. Not a nerve in sight when he flew out to meet your parents to ask for their blessing two months before proposing, claiming he was just making a quick trip to visit some friends.
So why? Why was he so nervous today? He’s been looking at himself in the mirror for twenty minutes now, worried that his bow tie is crooked, or that his hair looks too messy. He didn’t know why he was so focused on his appearance. You’ve seen him at his worst. You’ve been there to take care of him after far too many drinks on a night out celebrating a win, hair stuck to his forehead with sweat, head buried in the closest toilet. You’ve seen him after a brutal game, face red from exertion and weird imprints all over his body from his gear. You’ve seen him when he broke down after his first loss during his rookie year, putting all the blame on himself, holding him in your arms as he sobbed in your kitchen.
He knew you didn’t care if a few hairs were out of place, or if his tie was a centimeter too far to the left. But he did. He cared, because this was the most important day of his life, and you deserved for him to look his best. You deserved for him to make sure everything was perfect.
Jack is pulled from his thoughts by a knock at the door, Luke and Quinn making their way into the room.
“Ready, Rowdy?” Quinn asks, going to stand behind Jack in the mirror.
“Ready as I’ll ever be,” Jack responds, turning to look at his two brothers, forcing a smile that’s supposed hide all of his nervous emotions.
“Are you sure? Why do you look like you’re about to vomit, then?”
“I don’t? Do I? Oh god, what if she thinks there’s something wrong when she sees me? How do I make myself look like I’m not gonna hurl all over her dress. Luke, do I really look like I’m gonna blow chunks?” Jack frantically asks, looking between the two brothers, turning back around to look at himself in the mirror once again.
“Jack, breathe, man. You look fine. Luke was just being Luke. He doesn’t look like he’s going to vomit, right, Luke?” Quinn attempts to calm Jack, glaring at Luke.
“Yeah, I didn’t mean it. Sorry, Jack. You look fine. She’s probably gonna want to jump your bones or some shit. You look great.” Luke blurts, trying to not only escape the wrath of his eldest brother, but to keep Jack from actually vomiting.
“Okay, not what I meant but whatever works, I guess.” Quinn sighs, placing his hands on Jack’s shoulders to turn him back around.
“Listen, everything’s going to be fine. We just went to see Y/N, she’s nervous just like you are. I don’t know why, you’re both so painfully obvious with how much you love each other. There’s nothing for you to worry about. She loves you, man. More than I’ve seen someone love another person. As long as you’re standing there waiting on her at the end of the aisle, you could be covered in dog shit for all she cares. She just wants to see you. She just wants to marry you.”
Jack stares at his older brother, letting the words sink in. His thoughts drift to you, only three doors down, standing in your dress looking into the mirror just like he is, freaking out over things that don’t truly matter to him. He thinks about how you could walk down the aisle, hair un-brushed, pajamas still on, slippers on your feet and he would still be ecstatic to see you.
“You’re right, Q. Of course you’re right. I knew I chose you to be my best man for a reason,” Jack chuckles, feeling his nerves settle a bit.
“I know I’m right. I know you. And I know Y/N. As long as the two of you leave here today with the same last name, everything else could go wrong and you would still be the happiest couple I know,” Quinn removes his hands from Jack’s shoulders.
“But, nothing is going to go wrong, because Mom has been out there running around like a madwoman to make sure everything is in place. The only thing left is to make sure you get to the altar. Which is what we were sent here to do,” Luke chimes in, trying to assure his brother one last time.
“Alright. Yeah. I guess it’s time, huh?”
“It’s time, Rowdy. And it’s been a long time coming.” Quinn pats Jack on the back, the three brothers making their way towards the door that was left open.
Jack smiles at his brother’s statement, knowing you’re just as much a part of his brother’s lives as you are his. You watch every single one of Quinn’s hockey games (as long as he’s not playing at the same time as Jack and Luke) and scream loud enough for the neighbors to complain. You were there at Jack’s side for Luke’s draft day, just as proud, if not more, of the youngest Hughes. You always invite Luke over for a post-game dinner, knowing how tired he is after games and wanting to make sure he gets a meal before he goes home and claims he’s too tired to eat dinner. He knows you hold a special place in his mom’s heart, too. Her claim that you’re the daughter she never had proving to be true through this whole process, knowing she’s been involved in every step of this wedding right along side your mom and yourself.
Before Jack knows it, the ceremony is beginning and he’s being given the signal to make his way to the altar, standing next to his groomsmen as he waits for you to walk through those doors.
As he looks out over the crowd, he finds himself growing nervous once again. Did he put on enough cologne? Did he bring the right kind? What if he wasn’t wearing the one you told him was your favorite? Did he brush his teeth? What if he kisses you for the first time as your husband and his breath tastes like the burger he had for lunch? Oh god, what if you don’t want to kiss him because he has burger breath?
Quinn can sense the nervous energy radiating off of his brother once again. He places his hand on Jack’s back, giving him a few pats to let him know he’s right there next to him. That everything’s going to be okay.
Jack looks over at his brother only briefly before he hears the unmistakable tune of “In Case You Didn’t Know” by Brett Young start playing through the speakers. It’s Jack’s song for you. He plays it all the time when you’re in the car together, not even trying to be subtle. He loves to send it to you when he’s on the road, letting you know he’s thinking about you. There was absolutely no question in your mind as to what song you were going to choose when your mom asked what you wanted to walk down the aisle to.
He snaps his attention to the double doors that open at the other end of the large room. His stomach is in knots, really hoping he doesn’t actually look like he’s about to puke, because he sure feels like it right now.
As he watches the first flash of white make an appearance in the doorway, he knows he’s a goner.
You step into his full view, hand wrapped around your father’s arm, looking around at the various guests for only a split second before your eyes meet his. Jack swears, all time stops in that second. He can barely see through the tears that well in his eyes, completely in awe of you. You match his gaze, forcing yourself to keep the tears from dropping, not wanting to have mascara streaks running down your face before you even get to the altar.
The two of you simply stare at one another for what seems like an eternity. An unspoken declaration of love passed between one another in a simple glance. Your father having to tug on your arm slightly, forcing you to step forward, too lost in Jack for you to remember where you were and what was currently taking place.
As you start to walk down the aisle, every step bringing you towards Jack, towards the rest of your life with him, the feeling of calmness washes over his body. You’re here. You’re his. And you’re everything he has ever wanted and more. It’s in this moment, watching the rest of his life walk towards him, smile on her face, a single tear slipping down her cheek, Jack Hughes has never been less nervous in his life.

Somehow, the ill feeling of waiting until summer to see Jack again began to fade with each passing day. The itch to text him every time something exciting or infuriating happened to you began to lessen. The thoughts of him when you saw a funny meme he’d like, or your shared favourite foods on special at the grocery store, quietly stopped happening as frequently.
But then there were the things that didn’t stop. The sharp pain in your chest whenever Jack’s smiling face popped up on your social media feed. The butterflies in your stomach whenever your parents brought him up in conversation, fuelled by whatever the latest updates were from their group message thread with Jim and Ellen. The joy that would wash over you when you heard about a Devils win or a Jack Hughes goal, followed almost always by a wave of sadness that you were hearing about it second or third hand, rather than from Jack himself.
You were the one who’d asked for space. You needed time, you’d said. Given the blow up of All-Star weekend, all Jack was doing was respecting your wishes; but a huge part of you not so secretly wished he’d be a bit more disrespectful and reach out. Your mind was a mess of conflicting thoughts, and your heart wasn’t sure which emotion to feel or where to go next.
Since kindergarten, you’d barely gone more than a few days without seeing or communicating with Jack in some way. Now you were nearly a month without a word, and even though you were still mad at how he’d treated you, you were craving a return to the friendship you’d become so accustomed to. Jack knew you better than anyone, could basically read your mind with a single look, and although you had plenty of friends at college and still around in Toronto from high school, none came close to the camaraderie you shared with Jack. He was someone you could talk to for hours, or sit next to in silence for the same amount of time, it didn’t matter. With Jack, you could be utterly and entirely yourself, no complications. Now it felt like you were always pretending. And it was exhausting.
It was about 9pm on a Thursday night when you found yourself pushing through that exhaustion to try and complete yet another university assignment. For motherfucking economics. You couldn’t wait until you’d completed all of your compulsory economics credits because it was the absolute opposite of your cup of tea, when it came to academic subjects. This assignment was your last one, and you weren’t sure whether to cheer or cry at the idea of hitting the submit button on the online portal. Maybe you should’ve bought a confetti cannon to celebrate. Or a box of wine. Or booked yourself a flight somewhere fun, given you had a break from classes soon.
As soon as the thought of a trip crossed your mind, your phone began to buzz with an incoming video call. A video call from… Luke. Luke Hughes.
Your face scrunched in confusion, as you swiped to answer the call, met with Luke’s smiling face and messy curls.
“Hey sunshine! Long time no see. How have you been?” Luke spoke cheerily. Almost too cheerily.
You were immediately suspicious and narrowed your eyes at the youngest Hughes.
Luke was 3 years old when you met for the first time; he could barely remember a life without you in it. Given how inseparable you and Jack were, Luke became your de facto little brother, always tagging along where he could and joining in your adventures. Later on, when he became a teenager, you were the one Luke would come to when he was having issues with his friends, or trying to build up the courage to ask out the cute girl in his math class, or missing his brothers when they moved away. You were his second call after Ellen when he felt homesick at Michigan, and you were his first call when he had fucked up something that he felt his brothers would never let him live down. Emotional support and damage control, with a healthy dose of teasing and laughs thrown in. That was the dynamic between you and Luke. It also meant you could read him to filth when he was lying to you, and your honesty radar was through the roof at this sudden video call.
“I’m fine, Moose. Just trying to wrap up my final assignment before the break without losing my entire mind.” You offered weakly, half-expecting Luke to make a joke about your mind having been lost years ago, but the joke never came.
Instead, you saw the concern flicker across Luke’s face, just for a moment, before he forced a smile.
“How long is your break for? Any plans?”
“Three weeks, and not really. I promised my mother I’d spend a few days helping her with planning for their anniversary party in June, but that probably won’t happen until right before I go back to school.” You chatted absently, hitting save on your essay and standing up from the couch, bringing your phone with you as you moved into the kitchen to make yourself a drink.
You propped the phone up against the vase on your kitchen bench, reaching up into the cabinet to retrieve a glass.
“Well, you should come visit. We’ve got like 5 home games in a row or something ridiculous coming up. It’d be fun!” Luke’s tone was cheerful, but cautious, like he wasn’t sure how you were going to react.
You hummed in response, moving slightly out of view of your phone to get some ice cubes from your freezer and a soda from the fridge.
“Besides, I heard a rumour that you’ve got an airline voucher to use. I’d hate for it to expire or something.”
You could feel your heart starting to beat faster. Luke knew about the voucher. Did that mean Jack had told him about your fight?
“The voucher won’t expire for three years. I’m sure I’ll manage to use it before then.” You deadpanned, stepping back into frame to see Luke rolling his eyes at you.
“Yeah, sure, but will I survive that long without seeing you? Absolutely not. Come on, sugar. Please? Even if it’s just a weekend?” Luke had moved into full begging mode, with puppy dog eyes and everything.
You sighed, fidgeting with the straw in your drink and avoiding his gaze.
“I don’t… we haven’t talked at all, Luke. I don’t know what he’ll do if I just show up there.” You half-whispered, feeling that all-too-familiar wave of sadness coursing through your veins.
“He talked about you tonight at dinner. Says he misses you. But he doesn’t want to push, or not give you the space you wanted. But right now, he’s on the couch watching Gossip Girl, so…” Luke stated matter-of-factly, staring you down with a knowing look on your face.
Gossip Girl was something you’d insisted Jack get into when you were teenagers, as long as he “wanted to be called your official best friend”. And The OC. And Gilmore Girls. And One Tree Hill. And basically any other teen drama series you could think of. Collectively, those shows had thousands of episodes, and you always found yourself settling down to watch them whenever you were missing Jack more than usual. You’d never realised before that he did the same.
“Should… should we tell him I’m coming? I don’t want him to get upset by a bad surprise.”
“Not at all, sugar. Book the flight and send me the details, I’ll sort out the rest.” Luke’s beaming smile made a smile of your own creep onto your face, as you nodded at him and went to retrieve your laptop from the couch to log onto the airline website.
“Now that that’s sorted, I was wondering, what does it mean when a girl asks me what my sun, moon and rising are? Should I be worried? Or is it a good thing?”
–
Two days later, you were done with your semester and on your way to the airport. Luke had suggested you book a one-way flight, “That way, you can go home whenever you like!”, but you were starting to feel like the whole thing was a mistake.
Nonetheless, you pushed through those feelings and boarded your flight. The whole ordeal took less than two hours, and soon enough you found yourself navigating the arrivals area at Newark airport. You spotted Luke’s lanky figure, clad in a Michigan sweatshirt, with his back to you. You couldn’t help but creep up on him and poke his side, cracking up with laughter as Luke jumped at least three feet into the air. He’d always been the easiest to scare, ever since you were kids.
Luke cussed you out, and then pulled you into a bone-crushing hug.
“Missed your face, sugarplum.” Luke murmured, as you pulled away from each other and he rested his hands on your shoulders, studying you.
“Aw, Lukey. I’d say I’d missed yours too, but we really gotta do something about that hair.” You poked your tongue out as the youngest Hughes brother’s jaw dropped in mock offense.
You retrieved your bag from the luggage carousel, and headed out to where Luke had parked. The two of you fell into easy conversation as Luke navigated through the New Jersey streets back to the apartment he shared with Jack.
You managed to bury most of the nerves, but they came bubbling back to the surface when Luke pulled into the parking garage at the bottom of his building.
“Is… um… Is Jack home? Alone?” You managed to squeak out, and Luke looked at you like you were crazy.
Ever since All-Star weekend, you’d been having a recurring nightmare about Jack and the girl from the messages you’d accidentally become privy to. In particular, it was a scenario where you would come home from wherever you’d been out, and opened the apartment door to find them… entangled, on every possible surface you could think of. You felt yourself starting to feel ill as the images from your nightmares started to flash back into your mind.
“He’s alone. Ever since… ever since he came home early from All-Star, he’s been alone. None of the… usual visitors have been over. And he hasn’t been going to theirs, either. Not even when we’re on a roadie.” Luke said carefully, and you could tell he was trying not to upset you.
You could also tell that he was being honest. Because you could always tell when he was lying. But your mind was running a million miles a minute. Jack hadn’t… for a month? Because of his fight with you? You loved Jack, but you also knew (despite wishing that you didn’t know at all) that it had been years since he’d gone that long without intimacy. In fact, it was probably the longest since losing his virginity that Jack hadn’t fulfilled his desires.
Your mind was starting to wander into the gutter, and you pressed your eyes closed to bring yourself back to Earth. All you could do was nod at Luke, before you both hopped out of the car and into the elevator. Luke insisted on carrying your luggage, so you found yourself fidgeting incessantly with your hands as the elevator climbed to the correct floor.
You trailed behind Luke as he strode towards the apartment door and unlocked it, stepping inside and putting your bag down. He looked back and waved you into the apartment, pressing a finger to his lips. You tiptoed across the doorway, and your heart softened at the scene before you.
You could see the back of Jack’s head leaned up against the couch, and an episode of Gilmore Girls playing on the TV mounted on the wall. In fact, it was one of your favourite episodes; where Jess comes back and shows Rory the book he wrote, and calls her out for dropping out of Yale. You smiled ruefully as you thought about the parallels between that episode and your current situation with Jack, as the argument between Jess and Rory played out on the screen.
What do you mean?
You know what I mean! I know you. I know you better than anyone! This isn't you!
…
This isn't you! This! You going out with this jerk, with the Porsche! We made fun of guys like this!
You caught him on a bad night.
This isn't about him! Okay? Screw him! What's going on with you? This isn't you, Rory. You know it isn't. What's going on?
I don't know. I don't know…
“Are we Team Jess or Team Rory this time, Jacky?” Luke called out, making you jump.
“Team Jess all the way, obviously. Where have you bee-” Jack stopped dead in his tracks as he turned to face his brother, and instead saw you in the middle of his living room.
Jack’s face was a revelation. Confusion, at first. Then the briefest flash of hurt and anguish. Then a smile. Then caution and uncertainty, as he slowly stepped towards you.
You let a breath you hadn’t realised you were holding, and quickly moved across the room, clumsily throwing your arms around your best friend. You felt Jack freeze momentarily, almost as if he was shocked at your touch, but that soon passed and you felt his hands slide around your waist and squeeze, bringing your bodies as close together as possible.
You nestled your head on Jack’s shoulder, breathing in his scent. His thumbs softly rubbed up and down your side, and you felt him press a soft kiss into your hair. You stayed like that for a minute, or maybe longer, relaxing into the embrace.
The sound of the apartment door slamming shut made you jolt, and you rolled your eyes as you realised that Luke had tried to sneak way unnoticed and failed miserably.
“Hi.” Jack whispered, pulling back from you slightly but keeping his hands locked around you.
“Hi.” You whispered back, reaching up to brush his hair out of his eyes.
“Is it still shit hair? Or better now it’s longer?” Jack teased, rolling his tongue between his teeth.
“Better. But only slightly.” You teased back, your hands slipping down to the back of his neck comfortably.
The warmth of the surprise arrival was starting to fade. The dread you’d felt over addressing your fight with Jack was starting to set in, fast. The guilt you felt for being the catalyst for over a month for not speaking to your best friend was washing over you. Your heart rate was through the roof, and your palms were beginning to sweat.
Jack sensed your change in mood, and pulled away from you to look you up and down.
“Are you hungry? Do you want to shower? Or take a nap?” He was nervous, too.
“I ate before my flight. And showered this morning. And it’s 11am, so I think I’m good on the nap front. But I do think we should… we should talk. About everything.” You were basically tripping over your words at this point, but Jack’s reassuring nod helped to calm your nerves.
Wordlessly, Jack took your hand and led you over to the couch, gesturing for you to sit. You sat down and faced him, crossing your legs and resting your hands on your knees, still fidgeting with your hoodie sleeves.
“I’m sorry - “ You both said unanimously, a gentle laughter filling the room.
“I’m sorry I needed so much time apart, J. It fucking sucked, and it was my fault, and I just didn’t -” You began to ramble, only stopping when Jack leaned over and squeezed your knee reassuringly.
“You only needed that time because I was an asshole, sugar. It’s on me, really. I had no right to treat you like an occasional friend, or something that I shouldn’t prioritise -” Jack paused as you cringed, remembering the text messages that referred to his time with you as “boring family bullshit”.
“I was thinking with my dick, not with my head, and that’s not fair on anyone.” You shot Jack a weird look, and he looked sheepish in return.
“Quinn… Quinn said that to me. After you told him to tell me about the messages. He’s right, thought. It wasn’t fair.” Jack continued, pausing to take a deep breath.
“This whole… thing, this life -” Jack gestured broadly at the apartment around you, and you glanced around properly for the first time. Framed jerseys of Luke and Jack’s adorned the walls.Various photos of the Hughes family scattered about the place. The fridge, with a gas bill stuck to it, along with a polaroid of you and Jack from last Christmas. And a photo from your senior prom. And a group photo of everyone from last summer at the lake house, Jack’s mouth open in laughter with his arm slung over your bikini-clad shoulders.
“It’s all I thought I ever wanted. And it’s amazing, and I’m so grateful. But it’s worth nothing to me, the money, the girls -” You felt yourself involuntarily cringe again. “The fame, the accolades, it’s worth nothing to me without the people that I love by my side. And if those people don’t know how much I love and appreciate them, because I treat them like shit, then that’s on me. No one else. Me.”
You sat quietly, taking in Jack’s emphatic statement. You weren’t quite sure what to say. So instead, you gently reached over and took Jack’s hand in yours, lacing your fingers through his and squeezing softly, for a moment while you gathered your thoughts.
“I know the life you live, Jack. You don’t have to be sorry for it. Playing hockey was all you ever dreamed of, and I honestly can’t blame you for… enjoying… all the perks it comes with.” You swallowed the wave of nausea that hit you, before continuing.
“I don’t… I don’t know what life looks like without you in it. The last month was such a bizarre experience, and not one that I ever want to repeat, but I also… I need to… Can I be honest?” You spoke softly, glancing up from your hands to meet Jack’s gaze, and he nodded encouragingly at you.
“I wasn’t just upset because you made me feel like I was inconveniencing you, or cock-blocking you -” It was Jack’s turn to cringe. “I think I was upset because I was jealous. Because that will never, ever be me. And I think… I think I want it to be? Maybe? Fuck, I don’t know!” You dropped Jack’s hand and stood up from the couch, and started to pace the room.
“Sugar, please sit down.” Jack pleaded, and you paused, looking back at him on the couch. One look was all you needed, and you narrowed your eyes at the smirk on his dumb face.
“Why are you smirking? I am experiencing emotional distress, you asshole.” You seethed, running your hands through your hair in frustration.
“Tell me more about this jealousy thing. I’m intrigued.” Jack’s tone was light and teasing, and washed over you like sour milk. Your head whipped in his direction and your face must’ve said a thousand words, because Jack’s smirk soon disappeared and he hurriedly stood up and walked over, reaching out to touch you.
“See, this -” You jabbed a finger into Jack’s chest. “This is why I have avoided this conversation for almost my entire life. Because you think it’s hilarious that we could ever go down that path. That we could ever be something more than what we are. Because I’m not good enough,or pretty enough, or just enough and I never will be, and I hate it. I hate it so much.” Your voice cracked on the last few words, and you felt the hot tears start to bubble out of your eyes and stream down your face.
Jack didn’t say a word. He didn’t have to. He pulled you into a hug, bringing his hand up to your face and gently brushing away the tears with his thumbs.
“Breathe, sugar. You need to calm down.” Jack said quietly, willing you to calm. That just made you cry harder.
You were about to pull away, when you felt Jack cup your face with both hands, before leaning in to kiss you.

ice cream? | dad!quinn hughes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
luvhughes43 masterlist🌙
request: can you write another one like your uncle jack story? i loveddd it!! maybe jack and luke are babysitting quinn’s daughter. i feel like they’d mac and cheese for dinner and both completely struggle doing it. and when it’s bedtime the toddler has a tantrum and they so gentle with her (but also kinda freaking out and don’t know what to do) and end up giving her ice cream and letting her watch a movie with them and she falls asleep on one of them. and quinn and mom come home like really guys?! you let a three year old tell you what to do
word count: 1.2k
“What are you doing? you don't put the tinfoil bit in the microwave?!” Jack scolded his younger brother Luke as he yanked open the microwave before it set itself on fire.
Luke stood dumbfounded, “how else are you supposed to cook it?”
the “it” in question being a mini cup of mac and cheese. Quinn thought it would be the safest dinner option and yet…
“Okay, let me do this you go entertain the baby” Jack shoos Luke away and towards an adorable toddler who smiled gummily up at her uncles.
Luke scoops the little girl up, who giggles all the way to the couch. Luke plops them both down and reaches for the tv remote.
“Shit!” Jack swears as he rips the microwave open. “Luke! You put in too much water!”
Luke clicks the volume up on the tv. “You like paw patrol! Yeah, let's watch paw patrol!” Luke cheers to his niece who continues to giggle at her uncle's antics.
“Doggy!” the little girl shouts as she points at the screen. Luke nods enthusiastically as he tunes out Jack's grumblings from the kitchen.
15 minutes later, dinner was served.
Luke picked at his plate, “dude…”
“if you say that this is gross i swear…” Jack cut in.
Before a small fight could break out, both brothers' attention were brought to the little girl in the high chair. “Yummy!” she smiled, lifting up her little plastic spoon and shovelling more of the questionable mac and cheese into her mouth.
“ha! She likes it!”
“Jack… she's 2.. She was eating canned mashed peas like a month ago,” Luke replies.
Jack scowls. “It's literally your fault that the mac and cheese-”
“Play now!” their niece once again recaptures their attention as she shows them her empty plate.
Jack gets up from the table and takes his niece out of her high chair.
After an hour of playing, the brothers get a text.

quinn: Put my baby to bed now it's getting late. If she gets a little fussy read her another bedtime story she usually falls asleep after two stories.
“your daddy says it's bedtime!” Jack coos to the little girl sitting in front of him and she immediately starts pouting.
She throws the bright red block she's holding and yells, “no!”
“Luke, you wanna put her to bed?” Jack asks as he watches the toddler throw a small tantrum. She was rolling around on the floor now, toys long forgotten.
“No sleep! No sleep!” she repeated, looking up at her uncles with her infamous puppy dog eyes.
Luke walks over and picks her up off the floor. “Why don't we go read a story! That's so much fun!” Luke exclaims happily and the little girl in his arms continues to frown.
“yeah let's read a story!” Jack cheers in an attempt to get the young girl to stop pouting. “I love stories!”
“No!” she shouts again.
Luke ignores her shouts, and carries her into her bedroom where she continues to pout. “Uncle Jacks going to pick out a really fun book while I get you ready for bed, okay?”
“No!”
After 20 minutes of fighting with the young girl, she was finally all ready for bed. As soon as she was in her crib, she immediately settled down and was happy to hear her story. She insisted on both of her uncles reading to her, and by the time they were done the first story she had already drifted off to sleep.
Jack and Luke sat in the living room, both on their phones as they waited for their brother and his wife to return.
“Wow this has been really easy!” Luke joked.
Jack looked over, rolling his eyes. “You almost burnt down the apartment”
“Yeah but the baby's asleep now so does it really matter?”
Jack shakes his head, “i’m not even going to reply to that”
“‘ACK! ‘UKE!” the wails of their niece ring out through the quiet apartment.
Both boys look at each other, and then immediately rush into their niece's bedroom. “What's up?” Jack coos, voice soft as he approaches the little girl with tears streaming down her face.
The little girl continues to cry. She stands up by the edge of the crib and holds her arms out to her uncles. Luke takes the hint and lifts the girl out of her crib and into his arms.
“No sleep” she whispers against her uncle Luke's chest and both boys stare blankly at each other.
“But you have to go to sleep,” Luke tries, but the girl shakes her head.
“No!” she cries.
The cries only get worse, so Jack has the brilliant idea of feeding the girl some ice cream.
“Two year olds can have ice cream right?” he asks as he pulls the large tub out of his older brother's freezer.
Luke nods, “yeah i'm sure vanilias safe for kids”  he shrugs the shoulder that his niece is not laying against.
“You want some ice cream?” Jack asks as he holds a baby spoon up with a tiny bit of ice cream. The girl eagerly nods and reaches one hand out for the spoon.
The boys move to the couch, the little girl sat between them with her little bowl of ice cream in her lap. A movie softly plays in the background, lulling the girl to sleep with her hand in her ice cream bowl and head pressed against her uncle jack.
At the sound of the front door unlocking, both boys sit upright. “Shit! Don't wake her up!” Luke whisper-shouts as he stands up and starts clearing off the coffee table. There was ice cream everywhere, courtesy of the sleeping 2 year old clinging to Jack's side.
“Take her bowl!” Jack whispers as he tries to lift the baby's hand out of the sticky bowl.
“You gave my daughter ice cream before bed?” Quinn questions, surveying the messy kitchen and living room.
Luke, hands full of the incriminating ice cream bowls, shrugs. “She’s teething?” he says, but it comes out more of a question.
“My baby's teething? Are her molars coming through?” your worried voice drifts through the apartment as you step inside.
“No!”
“Yes!”
Jack and Luke both speak at the same time.
“Right… okay i’ll take my baby back now!” Quinn speaks. When he reaches down to lift his daughter up though, he sees her ice cream coated hands. Quinn doesn't have to say anything.
“Right well! This was really nice so…"Jack trails off when Quinn finally has his daughter in his arms. She was asleep, so what did it really matter if she had some ice cream?
“Yeah! I’ll see you next time!” Luke says, retreating into the guest bedroom.
“Yeah, what he said! It's been great!” Jack mimics Luke.
“You're cleaning this up tomorrow,” Quinn's voice is fully in dad mode as he looks around the messy room.
Jack nods enthusiastically before bidding the small family his goodnights.
“Thank you for babysitting!” you whisper yell, which Jack responds with a quick thumbs up.
A second later the guest bedroom door is clicked shut and Quinn and you are left standing in your quiet living room.
“They're never babysitting again” Quinn sighs, looking down at his daughter who was covered in ice cream.
“No, they're not” you sigh, leaning over and pressing a soft kiss to your daughter's forehead. “Letting a 2 year old tell them what to do… you got those boys wrapped around your finger!” you whisper to your little girl.

UMICH DORM
˒ ⌕ masterlist . . .
parings: jack hughes + fem!reader
summary: the one in which jack meets you in luke’s dorm and you are a friend with luke’s benefits.
🗒️: nothing to say just that this family has a great genetics (reminds me leclerc family too) cause god the hughes brothers are hot 🥵
type: fluff ಇ
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jack Hughes strolled down the well-lit UMich dormitory hallway. His younger brother, Luke, was playing for the Michigan Wolverines hockey team, and this was Jack's first visit to see him at college. Luke had assured him that it was fine to drop by his room whenever, so without hesitation, Jack reached the door with Luke's room number.
Without much ceremony, he opened the door, unknowingly stepping into a moment that would leave an indelible mark in his memory. There, on Luke's bed, was a young woman he'd never seen before. She wore one of Luke's Michigan Wolverines hockey team hoodies, the oversized garment hanging off her frame, and nothing but panties. Her presence in Luke's room was as surprising to Jack as his presence was to her.
She spoke softly as Jack entered the room, a hint of irritation in her voice, "Who the heck are you?"
Jack offered a friendly smile, hoping to ease the tension. "I'm Jack, Luke's older brother. You must be... Luke's girlfriend?"
Y/N's laughter filled the room, a playful glint in her eyes. "Girlfriend? No way! I'm just a friend. Who the hell just walks into someone's room like that?"
Jack smiled, appreciating her candor. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to barge in like this. I thought you were, well, his girlfriend. You're wearing his hoodie."
She shrugged, her gaze still fixed on him. "Oh, this? I just borrowed it because it's comfy. Not my fault if it smells like him."
Jack's amusement only grew, and he found himself drawn to her spirited personality. He nodded, acknowledging her point. "Fair enough. I'm sorry for the intrusion. I'll see myself out."
Y/N's eyes sparkled, and she playfully quipped, "You better, Mr. Intruder."
As Jack quietly closed the door and retreated down the hallway, he couldn't help but reflect on the intriguing encounter. He knew, deep down, that he had to find a way to see her again.

Strike Out | Luke Hughes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: a series of events that lead to Nico finding out about your boyfriend, the newest edition of the New Jersey Devils no less.
request: yes/no
warnings: sexual scenes, p in v, swearing.
word count: 1.46k
authors note: this is more plot than smut (less than 600 words are smut) and I really liked this one. The prompt Luke with Nico’s sister gave me many options yet this was one I’m happy I took.
Tumblr media
Luke knew he was playing a dangerous game.
Not only you the total it girl at NYU with men double taking you whenever walked past. But you were also his captains younger sister.
Nico and Jack had both given him warnings about you when Luke first joined the team at the end of last season. Yet the moment Luke locked eyes with you all of those warnings were out of the window.
You were the girl of his dream for lack of a better phrase. You had the banter, the personality, but most of all you got on with Jack. And of course you knew how to wrap Luke around your little finger.
So when it took you less than three weeks to get the boy into your bed Luke finally realised what Jack meant by you were trouble.
It wasn’t in the sense of you were twisted with the cops but rather that you were addictive. Someone so far out of anyone’s league that people weren’t sure if you were real.
That’s what you were, an enigma to everyone but Luke.
Or at least that’s what he liked to say as he stuck into your dorm because somehow it was safer in there than it would have been if you were in the apartment with Jack.
As much as Luke knew he shouldn’t stay in your dorm as it meant you two were awkwardly on top of each other due to the weird size that dorm bed were. He could never help it as he got to see you in his old band tees that you had stolen from his closet during one of the many trips you had taken to Jersey.
Nico and Jack at this point were either choosing to ignore what was clearly going on or they genuinely couldn’t see it.
But that meant you and Luke were feeling more adventurous than you had before.
Constantly pushing the boundaries being less careful than before as you were now even spending nights in the Hughes apartment.
As your life360 began to have these spurs where it randomly turned off only to be turned on when you were minutes away from Nico’s apartment. You seemed to feel this thrill as your brothers phone calls came in wondering why your location had gone off.
Dawson made the mistake of walking into the Hughes apartment one day when Jack was running late making him the first and only one to have seen it.
You had been straddling Luke’s lap when the Mercer boy walked in “Hughesy I didn’t know you had - y/n!” The boy clutched his chest in surprise as you locked eyes with him.
Some would have called this, strike one.
After all of the threats that Nico gave the boys Dawson was surprise that it only took him this long to get with you.
Luke was quick to place you next to him and before either one of you could beg for his silence Jack was home “oh I didn’t know you were going to be here y/n.” Swollen lips and messy hair didn’t seem to be picked up by the older Hughes boy as he flashed you a friendly smile “you want to stay for lunch?” He added letting you and Luke know that you were in the clear with him.
The younger Hughes boy frowned as you got up “I’m actually meeting Nico for lunch.“ You explained sending Luke a wink “I’ll see you soon Hughesy.” His nickname rolled off of your tongue as you left the apartment “I didn’t know that you two were friends.” Jack had to say that you and Luke were not a pairing he thought he’d ever see.
Next you seemed to grow ballsier than ever.
After a successful preseason the entire team were at Nico’s apartment for a celebration party.
Of course your brother sent you an invite as you were spending that weekend in New Jersey.
Much to Nico’s dismay you were hidden from your brothers side for most of the night.
Primarily because you were a bit too focused on a certain Hughes boy “baby you’re going to have to keep quiet.” Luke raised his finger to your lips as you rode his cock.
Your eyes fluttered as your nails raked up his chest “you’re so good for me.” You groaned as his finger rubbed against your clit “y/n you there?” The knock at the door made Luke wrap his lips around your breast in an attempt to suppress his own moans.
Say it with me now, strike two.
You’re chewed at the inside of your cheek “little busy.” You whined making the mental note to kill Luke later.
The boy smirked from beneath you as your hands locked into his hair “Jack is just looking for Luke and he said he saw you with him last.” That almost felt like strike two in the now game of baseball that you had Luke had found yourselves in.
Nico groaned as you remained silent “I sort of wanted an answer from you kid.” It made you roll your eyes as Luke squeezed your ass “I’ll help you find him in a sec.” Your head fell back when Luke’s lips grazed over your collarbone.
You grumbled “I would have liked if you could do it now.” You were grateful that the door was locked because Nico would have opened it by now.
If Luke hadn’t been bringing you close to an orgasm you would have killed your brother “Nico give me a minute.” You were dangling closer to hitting the older boy “okay jesus I’ll see you in the kitchen.” When Nico finally left Luke was able to go back to what he was doing beforehand.
He watched as your lips pursed “I’m gonna come Luke.” You cried making the boy beneath you capture your lips in a kiss.
It was hot as he held your hips against his “where are you going?” Luke complained as you got off of him before he had the chance to do as much as cuddle you reached for your dress “remember Nico?” You spoke in a duh tone shaking your head.
The red dress wasn’t doing a lot for your body “maybe you should find something else.” Luke mumbled seeing the bruises already forming on your collarbone “maybe you should get dressed before our brothers realise that we’re both in here?” You proposed realising that he was right.
The Hughes boy pulled you back by your hand “you’re so hot when you’re bossy.” Luke mumbled pecking your lips.
Finally and by far you’re most stupid of all moments.
Otherwise known as the time that Nico finally caught on.
It was when Luke had scored his first goal of the regular season and you couldn’t help but praise him tonight.
Naturally you in the crowd as it was in New York but as you ran past the crowd of family and friends of the Islander players you were trying to find Luke.
It shouldn’t have been a hard challenge given his height but still there you were trying and failing to find him “there you are!” His voice came from behind you.
He wrapped his arms around your torso so by the time you had spun around you were now facing him “hey.” You smiled looking up at him.
His hands comfortably found their way to your cheeks making Luke grateful that he had taken his gloves off moments before “what are you doing?” You mumbled trying to see what he was getting at as you could hear your brothers laughs echo off of the walls.
Luke ran his thumb over your lower lip “he is so busy talking to Jack that neither one of them is going to notice a thing.” The Hughes boys words made you feel at ease “bout time I congratulate you on that goal then?” You smiled as he nodded dropping his head to yours.
The two of you forgot how good it felt having his lips on yours as you two had been so busy recently that the idea of hanging out was simply out of the question “what the fuck is this?” A loud voice pulled you two back to reality.
Strike three, you should have been out.
Your eyes went wide as you saw the irritated Nico in front of you “look Luke I might not be good at these things but-” your ramble was cut short as Luke matched your expression “run?” He asked slowly repositioning you to block your brothers attempt at running after him.
Part of you wanted to do more as Nico cut in “I’m going to kill you Hughes.” The captain saw you as his little baby who needed to be protected at all times, even if that was from Luke Hughes.
“definitely run.”

"go back outside," you laughed, shoving jack's face away from yours.
you were at the hughes' lake house for the summer, spending most of your time wakesurfing, swimming, and hanging out on the boat. today was the one day you wanted to stay inside on the couch and finish the book you'd bought while the boys had the day to themselves.
of course, jack had other plans.
"i don't wanna," he groaned, plopping down on top of you.
"jack!" you laughed, trying to shove him off of you. finally, you gave up, putting your book to the side to let jack lay on top of you.
"why don't you wanna go outside?" you asked him softly.
"because i wanna spend time with you," he answered simply. "quinn went out with his girlfriend to that chinese place for lunch, and it's awkward being the only one with luke and his girlfriend. they're like... weird hormonal teenagers."
"oh, so it's because your brothers are gone that you're spending time with me," you rolled your eyes, laughing a bit.
"even without that, i'd still wanna be with you," he answered in a matter-of-fact voice. "it's why i'm gonna marry you."
"jack, stop making me blush," you hit his shoulder lightly.
"what," he laughed, pulling away. "there's a ring on your finger for a reason."
you smiled, admiring the way he looked at you with such adoration in his eyes. he acted like it was so simple. like he wanted to spend the rest of his life with you, and that was that. in some case, you supposed it was simple.
before meeting jack, you wouldn't have been able to imagine something like that, let alone believe someone could love you that much. but he changed that.
and you loved him so much for it.
"you're thinking," he said, getting up off of you and helping you sit up. "is it good or bad?"
"it's good," you promised. "i'm just thinking about how much i love you."
he grinned stupidly at that answer, "well of course you do. with these killer looks, how could you not?"
"you're such an-"
"luke! luke, what's wrong?"
your laughter was cut off as luke marched angrily past you and up the stairs and towards his room. behind him, ellen followed.
"i don't wanna talk," luke called, causing ellen to stop.
you and jack got up from the couch, making your way to the base of the stairs by ellen.
"what's wrong?" you asked. "why'd he storm up to his room?"
"i have no idea," ellen sighed tiredly. "he just came inside looking all mad, and then ran up."
jack furrowed his brows, "i thought he was outside with his girlfriend."
"did something happen with them, maybe?" you asked.
"i don't know," ellen muttered. she looked up the stairs, where luke had headed. "i'm going to go check on him. you two don't worry about him, i'll make sure he's okay."
you and jack nodded, letting ellen check on luke.
"are we sure it's not something bad?" jack asked you. "what if he's really upset over something?"
"ellen went to check on him," you reminded him. "it's better not to overwhelm him right now. we can go check on him afterwards if you want."
jack nodded, agreeing. "yeah, you're right."
the two of you headed towards the kitchen to take out your lunch. you and jack took a seat on the table, across of jim.
"did you finish your book yet?" he asked you.
"i would've, but someone didn't let me," you sent jack a look.
he held his hands up, a guilty look on his face.
jim looked up as ellen made her way back down. "any luck with luke?"
"he's asking for y/n," she said, looking at you. "honey, could you go upstairs and see what's going on?"
"yeah, of course," you answered, a little shocked.
jack squeezed your hand as you walked by, heading up to luke's room. you knocked on the door, waiting for an answer.
"go away," he muttered from the other side.
"luke, it's me," you called. "ellen said you wanted to talk to me."
you heard some shuffling, before luke said softly, "you can come in."
you opened the door, finding luke sitting on the floor next to his bed. he sat against the wall, his knees folded up to his chest and his head down. he didn't even look up as you entered.
"hi lukey," you said softly, sitting next to him. "you okay?"
luke sniffed, looking up at you with red rimmed eyes. "not really."
"c'mere," you muttered, pulling his head into your lap.
luke lay his head down, allowing you to softly run your fingers through his curls. his tears slowly subsided, and you waited calmly as he built up the courage to talk.
"how'd you stay with jack?" he asked finally. "like, it's been five years, and you guys are getting married in a few months, and not once have you guys even thought about breaking up. how?"
you pursed your lips, pondering the question. truth was, it took a long time for you to be this open and accepting to jack's love. you'd never received that same love as a kid, and never imagined to receive it as an adult.
"it's not easy," you answered him finally. "we were young, eighteen year olds when we met. i never even had a boyfriend before him. and then jack was some famous nhl player, and everyone knew him, and everyone hated that i was with him. but... honestly, we grew up together. we matured together. we made mistakes, but we learned to communicate and understand each other. it takes a lot, but we managed somehow."
you ran a hand through luke's curls, "i'm gonna take a wild guess and say something happened with you and your girlfriend. am i right?"
luke nodded sadly. "she-- she cheated on me. and then, and then she just said it like it was nothing. and then she started talking bad about you and jack, about how you guys probably aren't even a real couple, and i just-- i got mad. i told her she can go and do whatever she wants because i'm done." he looked up at you, "did i make a mistake?"
"no, no, you didn't," you assured him. "cheating's a choice, one that she made. when i said jack and i didn't have it easy, that's not what i meant. i meant that we both had things to work on in the start of our relationship. he was dealing with a lot of stuff with his rookie year, and i was still learning what a healthy relationship looks like. we worked on our relationship together."
"thanks, y/n," he smiled, closing his eyes a little. "that helps."
"anytime lukey," you smiled. "anytime."
--
outside the door, quinn smiled to himself.
he was walking past the room after his date, hearing your and luke's conversation. he'd spent the last four years doing everything to show you that you were family, that you were part of the hughes.
he was happy to see that you were believing it.

PRETTY ON FILM
Tumblr media
WARNINGS: hair pulling, extreme domination, degrading speech, mentions of filming penetration, etc. 18+ readers only
PAIRING(S): Luke Hughes x Fem!Reader
SUMMARY: in which Luke Hughes needs something to keep him satisfied when he’s away on roadies.
“Have you ever filmed yourself doing anything? Sexual, I mean.” Luke turned to face Y/N in bed, propped up on one elbow, hand supporting his head. She placed her phone on her stomach, letting out a quiet scoff.
“You mean like, a sex tape?” Luke nodded, and she shook her head. “You know that you’re the only one I’ve ever been with. Never made anything like that for you, have I?”
At this, he shrugged. “Not everything you do has to be for me. Could’ve been feeling sexy one night and filmed yourself fooling around when I was gone, who knows?” Luke teased, collapsing on his side and pulling her close to him.
“You know that I’d never. I’m too afraid of my iCloud getting hacked or something.” Y/N answered, picking her phone back up to continue her nightly scroll through TikTok. “Kinda random, though. Why are you asking? Planning something I don’t know about?”
“I’ve just been thinking that it would be so fucking hot to watch when I go on the road and feeling a little frustrated.” He whispered before placing a hand onto her cheek, his thumb stroking it gently. She kissed his lips gently, him smiling into the kiss before she pulled away.
“I don’t know, Luke.” Y/N told him hesitantly.
“Nothing we film will ever see the light of day. It will just be for us, baby, I promise.” Luke reassured her, moving to set the his phone down on the nightstand. “Don’t think you have to give me a yes or no answer right now. I figured it can be our next rainy day activity or something.”
Y/N laughed at Luke calling the activity of them possibly partaking in the filming of a sex tape with him a “rainy day activity.” “Okay, yeah, I’ll have to think about it.”
-
“Rain’s really coming down out there.” Luke commented one morning, looking out the window while taking a noisy sip out of his tea. Y/N hummed in acknowledgment, pouring herself a cup as well. He turned to face her, leaning back against the counter. “What should we do today?”
“Could always get some cleaning done. My allergies have been going crazy, think it wouldn’t kill us to do some dusting and vacuuming.” Y/N replied, pouring milk into her tea.
“What’s in it for me?” Luke asked, a mischievous tone present in his voice. She turned around to face him, hands tightly gripping her warm mug.
“What do you mean what’s in it for you? This is your apartment.” Y/N jokingly scolded.
“I’m kidding, Y/N.” He retorted, setting his mug down and walking over to envelop her in a hug. Her tea sloshed from the sudden movement and spilled onto the ground, causing her to let out a whine of Luke’s name.
“Luke.” Y/N groaned, setting her now dripping cup onto the counter. “See, looks like we do need to clean. We can start here.” She grabbed a handful of paper towels and handed them to him to clean up the small mess he made.
“Well, what’re we gonna do after? It’s not gonna take all day.” Luke remarked, bending down to wipe the floor. “I think I know what we can do.” He quickly stood back up, an excited look on his face.
“What’s that?” Y/N asked, already starting to move things from the counter to the dining room table so she could begin wiping it down.
“Remember a couple weeks ago what I told you we could save for a rainy day?” Luke gestured towards the window, where she could see the rain coming down so hard that it was difficult to even see outside. “How about we make a little film?”
“What’re you talking about?” Y/N replied, walking over to the sink and wetting the sponge. “What film?”
“You know.” Luke rocked back and forth on his heels. “The sex tape? You said you would think about it.”
Y/N faced him, propping her hand on her hip. “You’re still on that? Seriously, Luke?” She asked in disbelief, shaking her head at her absurdly horny boyfriend.
“Of course I’m still on it.” Luke flashed a cheeky smile. “I think that’d be the hottest thing we could do, what do you think?”
“Honestly haven’t given it much thought. I don’t think I’m totally against the idea, though.” Y/N set the sponge down now, growing more interested in the conversation with him. “I think it’ll be a lot of fun. Oh, and very hot.” She added, giggling at how Luke’s face was starting to turn red.
“I think we should get to it then, yeah?” Luke wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close so that her chest was pressed against his body.
“Go upstairs and get your camera ready.” Y/N whispered.
His face lit up and then dropped just as quick. “Don’t do this for me, baby, do it for you.” Luke whispered and she nodded.
“For me, for when you’re gone and I wish that I could have you. Go, hurry.” Y/N whispered seductively and at that, he quickly scampered up the stairs.
-
“My pretty girl, looking so ready for me.” Luke was standing near their shared bed, muscular thighs hidden behind a pair of sweatpants. “Gonna let me make a pretty little film with you?” His eyes had that typical glint to them, glistening in the soft light, clearly excited to fuck her with one hand wrapped around his phone. Y/N’s hands were fisting the covers, having to stop herself from touching her aching pussy.
Y/N nodded, but realized Luke didn’t see her, so she timidly answered him with a simple, “yes.” A chuckle rumbled through his chest, hand letting go of her body, shuffling out of his pants without taking the camera off her frame. Every desperate glance, every groan and whimper got perpetuated, making sure not to miss a thing.
“Need you to taste you, Luke.” Y/N replied shakily, looking down at his now hardening cock.
“Let’s get these clothes off you then.” Luke moved to stand between her slightly parted legs. “Arms up, c’mon.” She lifted her arms above her head, and she swiftly removed her shirt. She quickly unclasped her bra and tossed it behind her shoulder, now bare from the waist up.
“You have to take off your shirt, so I’m not alone.” Y/N told him, patting the space next to her at the end of the bed.
Luke nodded and sat beside her, clumsily removing his shirt as well. The sexual tension in the air was thick, and she felt a kind of vulnerability she’d never felt before.
“Feel like I’m about to have sex with you for this first time.” He told her quietly. “Think we should just go at it like we usually do?”
Y/N licked her lips, sliding off the bed and onto her knees in front of him. “I think that’s a great idea.” Without warning, she wrapped a hand around his length, giving him a couple sloppy pumps. He threw his head back, a blissed-out smile on his face.
Luke’s cock was rock hard, painfully hard as he’d call it, ready to be sheathed by her heat. Her nimble fingers reached for his cock, giving him the opportunity to film her pumping his aching cock, catching every second on tape. Silently, he prayed that he wouldn’t lose his focus, knowing that she would be able to sidetrack his thoughts, letting his phone tumble to the ground for him to grab her with both hands.
“Lay down, need to be inside of you.” Y/N gave into his calling, squealing as he grasped one ankle, forcing her legs off the mattress, placing them on his shoulders. A groan rumbled through Luke as he spit onto her pussy, the tip of his cock brushing through her folds to mix his saliva with her arousal. Effortlessly he pushed into her, filling her to the brim with one thrust.
The hand that kept holding the phone began to tremble, Luke had to force himself to keep on breathing, the sensation was all too much, too intense for him to thumb through his thoughts. So, he gave into the feeling, eyes fluttering close as he pulled out of her, only to snap his hips against hers over and over again.
“Fuck, right there, Luke.” His empty hand moved down her thigh, finding her pulsing clit as he tired to hit that spot again. Y/N arched her back as he began to circle her clit, watching in awe as her body gave into his touch, entranced by the man she called hers. The camera stayed focused on her pussy, recording his arousal covered cock, disappearing inside her with every thrust.
Y/N’s lips parted to moan as she clawed at the smooth skin of Luke’s chest while he pinned her beneath him, one of his hands squeezing at the dip of her waist while the other tried to steady the shaky hold he had on his phone.
“Fuck, just look at you, baby. Can barely keep those pretty eyes open.” Luke drawled as he felt pleasure rock through his body with the next wet connection of his hips against hers, and she was silently hoping his neighbors weren’t home with how loudly the bedframe seemed to be knocking against the wall with every one of her boyfriend’s thrusts.
Y/N let out a hiccuped moan of Luke’s name, a whispery, needy sound that had him smirking from behind the screen before he was looming closer, deliberately angling the blunt head of his cock to graze along the swollen spot inside of her just as he pointed the flash from his camera at her blissful expression.
Luke felt too good, but it was instinctive the way her palm came up to try and hide her face from the camera before she heard her him click his tongue, his free hand moving along her body to snatch gently at her wrist before he pinned it to the pillow beside her and started a pace that was a little faster than the last.
Y/N watched Luke bite his lip as his grin kept the same teasing curl as always, swallowing another low groan before the flash was finding her once more, and her eyes fluttered closed for a moment when she felt an all too familiar warmth twist in her abdomen as he pressed his cock into her.
“Oh? Didn’t think you were camera shy, baby. You gonna let me see those pretty faces you make on my cock?” Luke grunted again, letting the camera fall lower between their bodies until it was focusing on the mess of fluids that was smeared along her thighs and his, it only growing messier with every languid thrust.
Luke’s jaw clenched when he got a particularly good shot of his thick cock disappearing into her plush pussy, hissing a curse from between his teeth as the wet, squelching noises only grew louder while his balls smacked against her ass with each thrust, the sound so fucking loud Y/N was convinced he was trying to bury it into the walls instead of just his speaker.
Y/N blinked up at him when she felt like her eyes had adjusted to the usual dim lighting once more, finally meeting Luke’s gaze before another, dangerous sort of smirk was curling at the edges of his lips and she felt his fingers release her wrist in favor of tracing along her skin.
She felt him trail the teasing, featherlight touches lower before he was pressing his hand behind her thigh and pulling it up to let it hook around his shoulder. The new position only let him thrust his cock deeper into her already trembling walls, and Y/N felt something warm bursting along her thighs while her moans began to grow higher in pitch.
“Feels a bit selfish keeping you all for myself, you know. Maybe I’ll have to show the team how much of a fucking whore you are for my cock. All fucking mine, aren’t you?” Luke grunted, but it sounded needier this time as his lungs trembled on his next inhale, his hold on his phone wavering with the next squeeze of her walls along his cock. But he didn’t predict that he might be about to record himself losing his fucking mind in the intoxicating push and pull of her pussy.
Y/N was already mindless beneath him, but when the next place his fingers fell was between her thighs, it only took a few messy circles of her clit with two of his digits and a couple of languid, deep thrusts before she was stiffening, tight walls squeezing down eagerly around him.
“Why’d you stop?” Y/N asked heatedly, turning to look up at him.
“Don’t want you looking down. Want your pretty little face looking at this camera the whole time, think you can do that for me?” He asked, one of his hands squishing her cheeks together.
Y/N turned to face the camera again, so lost in how good Luke was making her feel that she’d completely forgotten that he was filming her. She nodded wordlessly as his grip on her cheeks loosened. Her pussy felt like it was trying to fucking milk him, it only pulling tighter every time he drew his hips back, trying to lure back in every inch she lost before he was burying it back inside of her.
“Eyes on me, baby.” Luke groaned, low and rugged and she knew he was desperately trying to keep a hold on the last string of his sanity, but her pussy felt so fucking good around him that he was considering getting this video put permanently on a loop in his mind.
Luke hissed through his teeth before he was focusing the camera on her face once more, his palm mercilessly pinning her hips to the bed before he was ruthlessly fucking her through her orgasm, every thrust unrelenting and he was only spurred on by the way she cried for him.
“Feels so good, my perfect girl. So tight for me.” Luke’s voice left her shuddering, eyes meeting his piercing ones. She already was too far gone, thoughts messy, forcing her to rely on him, to guide her through her arising high.
Y/N’s moans fell freely from her lips, making Luke smirk in delight, already excited about watching the video when he was far from home. His cock twitched as he gave into his thoughts, forcing himself to switch his focus back onto his moaning, trembling girl.
“Getting close.” Y/N said, struggling to even out your ragged breathing.
Luke’s wet his thumb in his mouth and brought it down in between their bodies, not slowing his thrusts as he rubbed at her clit. “Means I’m doing something right, wouldn’t you say?” He asked sarcastically, giving her a cheeky smile. She nodded, not trusting her shaky voice to answer him out loud. “Why don’t you cum for me, then? Let’s finish off this film.”
Y/N’s thighs twitched when she felt his thumb reach down to tease her puffy clit once more, every swipe shooting tiny aftershocks through her system as she thrashed below him, still so sensitive from her orgasm. Luke spread her thighs even wider before his thrusts were becoming sloppier, losing pace as he rocked into her, and she watched his head fall back to moan when she squeezed and trembled around the sensitive head of his cock.
“Cum with me, baby.” The thickness of his voice wrapped itself around her like smoke of a cigarette, trapping her in his embrace as her body followed him down the edge. Her orgasm rocked through her, buzzing in every vein, making itself comfortable in her system while he kept fucking into her.
Luke’s eyes were half lidded and dark when he blinked back down at her, peaks of his curls messier than usual as they fell along the light sheen of sweat along his forehead, framing the blush along his features before his lips parted to grind out another groan. Then it was hidden once more when the bright light from the flash clouded her vision and she felt his cock throb at the doe-eyed expression on her face.
“Let me see you make that pretty face for me again, baby.”

behind closed doors

me and luke were never much of friends, never even talked much. at least, that’s what everyone thought. no one ever knows what happens behind closed doors.
i have not used this app in forever, meaning i haven’t written a fic in quite a long time so this is me trying to get back into writing. sorry if this is not great and a little rushed, i just haven’t written anything in like five months. anyways, try to enjoy this fic and ill try to write more as soon as i can.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i sit in the living room of my best friends boyfriends house, she sits beside me as all of ethan’s roommates take up every other seat. the lightning vs islanders game plays on the tv, having all of our eyes glued to it.
the boys are in a constant state of yelling, wether is celebrating, yelling at how stupid the refs are, or booing the other team. i’m not as invested as usual, my teams aren’t playing, but ill never miss an opportunity to a hockey game.
my mind also focuses on the close proximity as luke sits beside me, our thighs lightly rubbing against each other ever so softly. the warm summer weather left me wearing shorts and a tank top, causing luke’s hand to glide across my bare skin as he secretly places his hand on my thigh.
i never intended on sneaking around with luke, it all just happened one day, the house was empty and quiet. we got to talking, venturing from subjects like our classes, plans for our future, and somehow turning into our sex life.
he learned that i’ve never really gotten quite what i need, never feeling that spark with any guy that i’ve been with. them never wanting to try anything i’ve wanted to, i’ve never been fully satisfied.
he continued to tell me how he has slept around quite a bit. nearly almost always leaving the rink with some new blonde puck bunny stuck to his arm. he didn’t wear it as a trophy, or say that he regretted any of it, all just saying it’s apart of his past. his history he can’t and won’t change.
one thing led to another, his hands roaming my body as my lips bit down on his. my hands squeezing the mattress tightly with every moan escaping my lips.
we didn’t even stop there, whenever we could find a time to be alone, we were tangled in each others arms.
here we are now, not even able to keep our hands to ourselves in sight of one another. i try to shake his hand off, not wanting any of the surrounding eyes to see his intimate gesture. he doesn’t move, squeezing my skin harder. i softly pierce my bottom lip with my teeth, try to calm my nerves. i can feel heat bubbling up to my face, painting my cheeks with a faint blush.
my eyes peer over to him, giving him a pleading look to start behaving. he doesn’t budge, giving me a side smirk before returning his eyes on the game.
rutger groans loudly as the 2nd period finishes, “fuck the lightning.” he swears as they’re pulling a 4-1 lead. he chugs back the rest of his beer, throwing the can on the ground in some grown man temper tantrum.
the ads run during the commercial break, leaving the rest of us to disregard the television for the time being. my heart starts to quicken, without their distraction of the game they’re eyes could fall upon luke’s hand on me.
my mind tries to work fast, but the only thing i can think of doing is grabbing the blanket next to me and covering myself with it, concealing us from the wandering eyes. luke’s lips curl into a smirk, proud of me not forcing him off, knowing that i want it. that i want him.
his hand becomes bolder, rubbing up and down my inner thigh. i bite my bottom lip again, trying to stabilize myself from this new feeling. his fingers become more adventurous, going to the hem of my shorts.
“fuck.” i softly mumble to myself, luke’s soft chuckle tells me that he hears my light groans. his fingers don’t stop there, rubbing up to the bottom of my shirt, toying with the cotton material.
the pads of his fingers brush against my sensitive skin, right across the bottom of my stomach. fire engulfs my stomach, my breath hitches as he rubs softly back and forth, tickling my skin.
the game comes back for the final period, my eyes keep trained on the hockey game, but my mind can only focus on his touch as it drives me insane.
he feels my stomach hitch with my breath, he knows i want him so badly, he knows what he does to me. i squeeze my thighs together, trying to cause some type of sensation in my growing wetness.
i can’t take his teasing fingers anymore, “meet me in my room.” i whisper to him. rising from the couch and walking away from the crowded living room. i head for the direction of the bathroom, making them hear my footsteps as i lead their ears to the door closing. i stay outside the bathroom, tiptoeing to my room in an unsteady waiting of luke.
the door finally opens, luke quickly closing the door silently behind him. a deep breath is all i can hear from him, turning around to look at me patiently sitting on the foot of my bed. he takes a seat beside me, quickly gripping my hips and pulling me onto his lap.
“it’s been awhile since we’ve been alone,” my fingers rake up the back of his head, through his soft brown hair, my finger swirling around a curly lock. “too long.” a soft sigh parts from his lips as my fingers lightly scratch at his scalp.
he keeps his hands on my hips, roughly gripping at my denim shorts. “i missed your hands all over me. you can’t tease me out there and not expect me to want more.”
our bodies come closer, our lips so close together, our hearts syncing their beats. i can barely hold myself back from making up that final inch. “tell me how badly you want me.”
“i want you..” he shyly gives into my need. it’s not enough for me, i feed off of hearing how badly he wants me, his hands rubbing up and down my body, the feeling of his cock being buried deep inside me.
“oh yeah…” my lips attach to his neck, softly kissing down from his jaw.
finally he gives in, “i want to feel you against me, your lips on mine, every inch of your beautiful body baby.”
a devilish smirk spreads on my face, “mmm, is that right?” i mumble against his neck, softly sinking my teeth into his sensitive skin, sucking the spot to soothe it after.
“oh god yes.” luke practically moans out. his hands become adventurous, slowly going down to hold my ass in his hands, gripping at my clothed skin. they make their way down farther, gripping at my exposed thighs while my kisses go back up his jaw.
i crave for his taste, forcefully pressing my lips against his in a hungry state. my tongue quickly sliding into his mouth, hands combing through his messy curls, pushing him closer into me. he guides my hips back and forth on him, i can feel him hardening underneath me.
breaking the kiss to catch my breath, i drop my head onto his shoulders as i feel his hands press against my pussy. my hips still grind on him, but instead of just on his hard cock, it’s on his fingers. “mmm, you want me that bad?” he chuckles, i nod against his shoulder.
he undoes my shorts, exposing the top of my pink lacy panties, his fingers drag down them, going farther into my pants. they settle on my wetness, my hips stop rocking, focusing on the closer touch. “god you’re soaked.”
my lip sticks to my teeth in a harsh lip bite, my walls clench around nothing, begging to be filled by him. his fingers work slow and teasingly, rubbing circles around my clothed clit, watching me squirm on top of him. my back slightly arches, legs slowly opening wider for him to have better access to my aching pussy. “needy, are we?”
i softly whimper, my hips start to grind again, craving more attention from his teasingly slow hands. his fingers move the crotch of my panties aside, touching my wetness with his bare fingers, feeling my folds and them dripping for him. my head lifts off his shoulder, taking a glance down at his hand stuffed down my pants, looking back deep into his eyes.
i take a deep breath out, without a single warning he thrusts a finger in my pussy. making me loudly squeal with surprise. he quickly covers my mouth, stopping his finger in me. “you have to be quiet princess, you don’t want us getting caught, now do you?” he asks. i shake my head no, he hums at my obedience. “good girl.” his voice is in a whisper, softly praising me.
he begins to move his finger once again, letting me adjust to the new sensation before adding another, stretching me out for him. curling his fingers up to my g-spot. finally trusting me enough not to scream, he moves his hand off of my face, settling it down on my hip to keep me steady.
my hands grasp at his curly locks, trying to compose myself. as he adds another finger i bite down on my bottom lip, trying to keep the wanting moans from escaping my lips. a smirk spreads across luke’s face, watching what he can do to me with just his hands. i curse under my breath, dropping my head down to keep my brain straight, the pleasure slowly becoming less bearable.
his fingers quicken, hand comes off my hip and to my chin, lifting my head to force me to stare back into his eyes. “look at me while i’m finger fucking you baby.” my teeth puncture my bottom lip harder, my chest heaving with all the moans i keep to myself. i slip up and let on me out, hard hands hit my throat, softly squeezing. “i thought i told you to keep quiet?”
his grip loosens to allow me to take a breath, closing back up as soon as my chest rises. another finger slips in my cunt, my legs start to squirm, toes curling and hands squeezing his hair. his fingers losen from my throat, falling down to the straps of my tank top. he pulls one strap off each shoulder, one at a time. hooking two fingers at the neckline and pulling down, my tits falling out from my lack of wearing a bra.
he wastes no time before gripping my breast, rubbing his thumb over the sensitive bud. i clench around his fingers, my senses overloading with pleasure. he lowers his head, kitty licking my other nipple. i softly moan, not loud enough for luke to get me in trouble again, but enough for him to know the things he’s doing to me.
my stomach clenches, the feeling i know very well as my head starts to feel light. “i’m so close.” i whimper out. luke doesn’t let up, switching to my other breast, sucking on the nipple before softly biting the skin.
my whole body clenches as i feel my climax, luke’s quick fingers curling inside me quickly. it all comes raining down, my pussy clenching around him as i coat his fingers with myself. he backs up, letting me heave and fall down on his chest to catch my breath.
i quietly curse under my breath, squeezing my eyes shut to recover from my high. i life my head back up to look luke in the eyes. he removes his fingers from my folds, fingers coated with my cum. he slides his fingers into his mouth, licking them clean. my breath catches in my throat again, god damn he makes me want more.
“you’re such a good girl Y/N.” he pops his fingers out of his mouth, “i wish i could fuck you silly right now. but i want to keep all those precious moans to myself, when we can be completely alone.”
before i can even react to his words he puts his lips back onto mine, slipping his tongue in my mouth to let me taste myself. his fingers plant back onto my hips, helping me up to my feet so he can get out from underneath me.
“you go get yourself cleaned up and meet me back in the living room. i pray we weren’t gone too long for anyone to notice.” he whispers, fixing my hair from the sweat that beads on my forehead.
i nod to his words, giving him one last little kiss before he silently slips out of my bedroom. my try to regain my normal breathing patterns, my brain still fuzzy from my previous orgasm.
i obey luke’s wishes, tiptoeing to the bathroom to clean myself off. splashing water into my face to try to remove my blushing red cheeks. i walk back out to the bathroom, seeing everyone engrossed in the final minutes of the third period. i thankfully sigh, slipping back between the guys to sit back down beside luke. he offers me a light smirk, we both then back to the television, watching the game unfold.

. “there’s nothing to worry about! my family will love you.” with jack!
and maybe jack has never really brought anyone serious to introduce to his whole family but she doesn’t know that… but hsi whole family can quickly see how much jack loves her
“meeting the family”
jack hughes x f!reader
birdie’s 300 celly
i LOVE this and this is kinda short so lmk if you want a part 2!
Jack would never admit it to you, but he was a little nervous for you to meet his family, especially all of them all at once.
“Bring your girlfriend to the wedding,” they said. “We promise we won’t embarrass you,” they said.
He knew his brothers would intentionally embarrass him in front of you, and even though the others wouldn’t make that effort, he still had never brought a girl to anything like this before, especially not one that he liked so much, and he had no idea how they would react.
It was Jack’s cousin’s wedding, one that he wasn’t particularly close with, but was still related enough to be at the rehearsal dinner.
Jack sat beside you, his leg bobbing nervously under the table. You placed a soothing hand on his thigh as you made easy conversation with Luke.
You met his parents and brothers earlier, and you hit it off easily with them. His parents had already told him how much they loved you. You got along great with Luke and Quinn, but they weren’t the relatives he was worried about anyways.
“So, Jack, that fall you took on the ice last week, pretty brutal. What’d you think of that, Y/n?” asked one of Jack’s younger cousins mischievously.
“What fall?” you asked, glancing at Jack in confusion.
“Oh, you didn’t see it?” he grinned. “He was skating a little too fast, and I guess he just lost his balance.”
“You can barely skate, Johnnie. Call me when you get off that bench,” Jack combated.
You ignored him, stifling a laugh. “Jack, when did that happen?”
Jack sighed. “At the Rangers game you couldn’t make it to.”
“Well, I bet you were glad I didn’t see that.”
“I was,” Jack said, glaring at his cousin who just smiled innocently.
Luke snorted into the beer he was trying to steal from Quinn, who was distracted talking to a bridesmaid.
“Give that to me, you’re not legal,” said Ellen, grabbing the bottle from Luke and setting it back down in front Quinn before taking a seat beside Luke. “And be nice to your brother.”
“Sorry, mom,” Luke mumbled.
Jack took your hand from his thigh and interlocked your fingers under the table. He watched you as you conversed with his mother, and how easily you made his brother laugh.
Your eyes were bright and your smile was big. He’d never thought you looked so beautiful. He ran his thumb over your ring finger and smiled to himself. He knew it was too early and he was too young to be thinking about marriage, but in a setting like this, it was kind of hard not to.
When he looked up, tuning back into the conversation, he saw the look on his mother’s face and knew she had him all figured out.

Daddy Jack and Baby Jack | Jack Hughes Drabbles
Tumblr media
I have so many daddy Jack drafts that are a fourth done but rn I’m loving writing smaller works and having requests come in to respond to. This is kindaaa based on those works.
Jack has a baby girl first, and what’s a more fitting name for the future J Hughes legacy than Jaqueline
The first thing Jack does when he finds out you’re pregnant is buy little skates. He can’t wait til baby can walk so he can get them on the ice
Although you wanted to keep the pregnancy a secret until you were further along, Jack couldn’t help but call everyone he knows to tell them the news
“I nutted in her, and now we’re having a baby Quinn” “Err, ew? Okay? Congratulations?”
Every time Jack sees something baby related he buys it. No hesitation. The baby room is so filled that it’s starting to get hard to walk in.
Baby girl looks just like her mama but with Jack’s smile. She is literally the splitting image of you, which Jack loves so much
Although she looks like her mama she acts just like her daddy. She has all the same mannerisms as Jack. You even caught the two sleeping the exact same, turning and shuffling at the same time
All the boys love to call her Jaq Jaq but Trevor calls her little Hughes
Speaking of Trevor, the two of them are always going at it. Y/n and Jack find it hilarious to hear Trevor argue with a literal child
She of course as the first Hughes baby is spoiled to deathhhh, which you try to lay off but between her dad and uncles you really can’t help it
Uncle Quinn and Uncle Luke are always taking her out to do something. When things go quiet and she’s nowhere to be found the first thing you do is Group FaceTime the two boys, and on one phone your baby will pop up on the camera saying “hiiiiiii”
Jack gets jealous when he sees baby girl bond with his brothers or friends on the level they do
“I though I was special,” he’ll grumpily say
But at the same time he is so happy everyone loves her as much as he does
He takes baby girl to every single practice and game in hopes that she will like the sport
Which of course she does
She goes to every game wearing an 86 jersey and a red and black tutu sometimes even little tiny devil horns
But one time she wore Luke’s jersey and Jack felt so betrayed
He literally took the jersey off his back and told her to put it on
At first she was scared of the Devils mascot but now she can’t leave it alone
Baby Jaq hates being in the box seats and much rather prefers being right by the glass so she can say hi to daddy
The amount of times Jack skates by just to tap the glass and say hi >>>
Ofc all the players have to say hi to her at least once or she gets mad at them
She’ll go into the locker room after the game and go up to them like “I know you saw me say hi why didn’t you say hi back?”
Baby Jaq loves to walk the red carpets with her daddy
She feels like a little superstar and thinks all the pictures being taken are for her
Secretly one of her fave players is Nico
He always says yes to playing with her before and after games so she likes him the best
You catch them playing with dolls together while he’s supposed to be in practice
And while he’s on the bench baby Jaq tries to tie his hair up and put bows she brought on him
Nico actually wears it under his helmet but you can see the little pink and yellow bows sticking out
Jack and Luke get jealous because why did she choose Nico to give a makeover to??
Next thing you know everybody on the Devs is wearing bows in their hair
Baby Jaq is just everything to Jack, she’s his whole world and best friend aside from you
He’s just so happy he can raise a little human alongside the love of his life
