au in which Mav wakes up from one of that type of sleeping where you don't remember having nightmares, everything's pretty foggy in your head, and you lost a sock between the sheets. For a moment all he can do is panic because he lost a sock and the side of the bed is cold and he can't remember the last time he saw Ice if not in an hospital bed and what if he's dead. Oh god, what if he lost his husband in the same way he lost his sock and in the same way he lost Goose. What if he was that careless and- Mav feels like crying because he lost his sock and his husband and he can't do it? nonono, he refuses to-
There is a warm hand on the back of his neck for a second before two strong arms hug.
"Did you lose your left sock again, babe?" A voice just as warm as the arms asks.
"Yes," he whispers, feeling the tears streaming down his cheeks. "And I think I lost my husband too."
The voice behind him chuckles a little "No sweetheart, you just lost your sock. And if you lay down, I'll show you you haven't lost your sock or your husband, I swear."
Mav can't do much more, but he nods to the kind stranger before laying on the bed, his nose half mushed on his husband's pillow. What happens in the next few minutes is a hand around his calf and his foot finally feeling less chilly and somebody lying down in front of him.
"Hi," the stranger that's now not a stranger but his husband, because his husband is there and Mav feels like crying all over again, kisses his forehead and his nose. "See? I found your sock and your husband. Everything is where it was supposed to." Mav doesn't feel like saying much if not finding his way against Ice's chest, trying not to leave a single inch of space between them, already feeling more asleep than awake.
"Thank you, you saved me," he murmurs, kissing his neck before closing his eyes once again. The last thing he feels is a second kissing on his forehead and Ice hugging him a little tighter against his chest. Mav can't help but sigh and let sleep reclaim him once more.
