hi! i have a problem with cas tools and weights for the most part it assigns weights perfectly but sometimes links extra pieces of the mesh that i don't want twisting and moving with the body to some body parts how do i remove that? i have big things on shoulder that get distorted when the sim moves because of this i tried going in blender but i cans seem to find a way to remove the weight from the mesh without removing it from the body mesh ? i hope that was understandable, thanks!

2 ways you can go about this but both are manual and take a lot of time.

this will be long

way 1 (frankenstein weight painting for lazy ppl ie: me).

sometimes another mesh will have the movement i want. what i do is separate that part. separate that part on my mesh. weight transfer manually. and then join it back up with my main mesh. mauvemorn has a vid on this that illustrates it and it's great for sweaters or anything with bulk on the shoulders and back (where 90% of weight painting shit issues happen in this game). you can even drape your item in a t pose and transfer weights that way with this method. very helpful!

way 2 the fucking long ass way

this is going to require actual weight painting and...it's tedious but inevitable.

export out your mesh from s4s (the one you already used cas tools on).

take that into blender. join up the mesh (bc cas tools splits it) by going to mesh > cleanup > merge by distance. your mesh should be one complete item (but we're gonna split it up again)

hit L to select linked parts and it should select only the clothing part. hit P to separate it from the body

go into weight paint mode

on the right in the properties menu, choose vertex groups.

6. select the joint where you want to paint (ie if the armpit has too much going on, you can select the clavicle joints to remove weight.

7. paint blue to remove, red to add. 60% of the time, going to weights > smooth or blur will fix things but you might have to do stuff manually.
