#Marvel#Marvel comics#Marvel 616#Avengers Unlimited#Avengers Unlimited Infinity Comic#Moon Knight comics#latest release#Moon Knight#Marc Spector#Jake Lockley#Steven Grant#Captain America#Steve Rogers#hey Mr. Groom excuse me but how did you get access to inside my head because this is pretty much exactly what I could have wanted in life#because don’t get me wrong I love Mr. MacKay’s run but one thing I’ve been missing is just Steven - Jake - and Marc interacting#(and I was hoping that the name of this arc was in reference to the Moon Knight system but I hadn’t dared hope too much)#which means there’s so much I love here#love Jake’s jacket and the acknowledgement that the people he mingles with are in no way lesser than Steven’s socialite#or Marc’s superhero ilk but rather the people who often just need some help (whether that be through Steven’s funds/business acumen#Jake’s hands-on social support#or Marc’s /very/ hands-on support method of boxing villains over the head) but could be the least likely to get it#and !!!!! an acknowledgement that the system is a strength and an invaluable asset to Moon Knight work !!!!#and that it was Khonshu’s influence that was largely the problem as opposed to the system’s neurodivergence !!!!#and an acknowledgement from Cap of all people! I WEEP#it just means so much to me: Marc getting some support both from the system and from Cap#as well as how in character this is for Cap#as some of my favorite moments of his are where he reaches out to those deemed by others too ‘unstable’ or ‘unreliable’ to ever amount to#much in the grand scheme of things and he asks them to be Avengers#recognizing what invaluable talents they posses#could the cynical say this reads like a Saturday morning psa? sure but this is an infinity comic with Cap. Enjoy it for what it is akshsksj

Christmas Eve (Part 2)
Jake x MC
A few people asked for a part two, so here you go!
-
Our car rolled to a stop behind the extensive line of vehicles in Michelle and Sean’s driveway. Jake turned off the car, pulling the keys from the ignition and rushing to the passenger’s side to help me out. I place my hand in his with a smile and stand from the vehicle, readjusting my dress as I do so.
Jake pops the trunk and collects our gifts for the white elephant exchange, handing one to me. With his available hand, he grips mine, his palm still warm from the heated car. Gifts in tow and hands intertwined, we approach the large home. My heels click loudly against the rounded driveway, the lights decorating the exterior soon coming into view.
I gasp slightly at the appearance of their large home. Warm toned lights adorned the columns of the mansion, the roofing, as well as the greenery surrounding the house. Jake pulls me towards the porch, disconnecting our hands momentarily to knock on the wooden door that was complete with a beautifully decorated wreath.
“Coming!” I hear Michelle’s voice come from inside. As the door opens she smiles at the sight of us, a flute of champagne held tightly within her perfectly manicured hand. “It’s so good to see you two!” She exclaims, surprising the pair of us as she pulls each of us into a tight hug.
As we pull apart she looks me up and down, “Jake, you better keep an eye on this one. Dressed like that, people are bound to come at her left and right,” She smirks, winking playfully.
Jake chuckles loudly, my cheeks flushing at the compliment. “Of course, Maybelline. I’ve learned I got to keep her by my side all times.” He retorts. I can’t fight the wide smile that crosses my features, turning to face him. Michelle steps from the doorway, allowing us to enter her and her fiance’s new home.
“This is breathtaking, Michelle!” I compliment, my eyes scanning the impeccably decorated entryway.
As I shrug off Jake’s jacket, she smiles and reaches to take our gifts. Setting the gifts among the others littering the table in the entryway she comments, “Perks of having a fiance in the NFL I suppose,” We all unite in laughter as we follow her to the living room.
All of our friends have already arrived, some scattered across the sofas while other gathered in the kitchen to retrieve refreshments. Smoothing out her golden dress, Michelle’s gaze turns back to us. “Make yourselves at home! If you need anything at all, be sure to let Sean or I know,” With that, she leaves us, disappearing into the kitchen.
“What should we do first? Mingle or drinks?” I question, focusing my attention on Jake. He smirks a little bit at my suggestion.
“Considering I’m driving home, no drinks for me. But, when you get tipsy you get very touchy so I say drinks first!” Jake teases, pulling me towards the kitchen. Upon entering the large area, we catch sight of Raj, Zahra, and Craig sorting through the assortment of liquor.
Raj’s sight falls upon us, causing him to immediately race over and wrap us each in a bone crushing hug. “I’ve missed my favorite couple so much!” He exclaims happily.
“Excuse me?” Craig questions, crossing the room towards us.
Raj’s face falls, giving us the opportunity to escape his grasp. “Uh - I mean, second favorite couple behind Craig and Zahra of course,” He tries to recover, causing laughter to escape from Jake and I. We all greet one another, receiving yet another tight hug from Craig and more surprisingly, Zahra.
She wordlessly pours me a drink and shoves it in my hand. Still intimidating as ever.  Jake excuses us and leads me towards the living room. “I need to congratulate Captain America on his game last week,” He explains. I shake my head a bit at his fangirl tendencies, but remain silent.
As Jake spots his idol, he releases my hand, racing over to go clap Sean on the back. I roll my eyes before going to take a seat next to Quinn and Grace, giving each of them a warm hug. Grace immediately shows me her engagement ring, the large diamond seemingly swallowing her finger. The pair then begin to pester me about my future with Jake, and if the marriage discussion had occurred yet.
I roll my eyes and attempt to remain very nonchalant, but I can’t help but wonder when a proposal will occur. Especially when Jake and I have had the marriage discussion so many times before.
They each take turns sharing details of the last year that we missed, Quinn revealing that she had attended therapy with her parents in order to mend their relationships, and Grace expecting to receive a promotion with her mother’s company in a few months.
As we continue talking with one another, Michelle appears in the living room, wrapping an arm around Sean’s side. “Alright everyone! If you would go ahead and take a seat, we’re going to start white elephant!” She announces loudly, capturing the attention of her rowdy friends.
I excuse myself before leaving Quinn and Grace, moving to sit beside Jake who had already secured a spot for me in between him and Diego. Diego wraps an arm around me, pulling me into his side, his warmth seeming to radiate off his body. “You literally saw me two days ago,” I laugh into him, causing a bright smile to appear across his features.
“That doesn’t mean I can’t be excited to see my best friend!” He exclaims, releasing me from his grasp. Jake places his palm on my thigh, offering me another drink. I smile and accept it, tipping the liquid down my throat. I press a kiss to Jake’s lips, a smirk appearing after I pull away.
As Michelle and Sean haul the gifts from the front room to the coffee table, the rest of the group gathers in the room. I watch quietly as Aleister moves to sit beside his fiance, Grace immediately flushing as he does so. Quinn makes room for the loved-up pair, scooting closer to Estella. I watch as Estella smiles slightly, Quinn’s presence obviously having an affect on her. Craig, Raj, and Zahra all collapse together on the chaise lounge across from us, their loud laughter filling the entire room.
I couldn’t help but smile at the sight of my friends. We all managed to end up together on Christmas Eve, safe from the dangers of La Huerta. Jake catches my gaze, his eyebrows furrowing as if questioning what I was thinking about. “I can’t believe we’re all here, together.” I state with a smile, causing him to grin as well.
“You’d better believe it, Princess. And I think we’re stuck with them for the long haul,” He feigns a groan as he responds, causing me to giggle. As Sean and Michelle bring in the final gifts, Sean picks up a glass bowl filled with folded white papers from the marble kitchen counter. He carries the bowl around the circle, giving everyone the opportunity to pull a numbered paper, revealing their placement.
Sean offers the bowl to me, gifting me a warm smile as he does so. I pull a piece of paper, quickly unfolding it. 7. “What number did you get?” Diego question, leaning over my shoulder to peek. I hold it wider so he could get a glance, him nodding in acknowledgement. “I got two,” He groans.
We both peek at Jake’s, disappointed to see he got the last number, 12. As the final number is pulled from the bowl, Michelle starts the game, going to retrieve a gift. She carefully selects one of the two gifts Jake and I brought, causing the pair of us to snicker. Everyone watches silently as she tears the wrapping paper, soon revealing what lies beneath. “A dildo?!” She exclaims, causing the room to erupt in laughter.
Michelle’s face turns bright red as Craig and Jake begin to tease her about Sean not fulfilling her “needs”. The game continues and it’s soon my turn. I glance around the room, observing each of the gifts I could steal. Instead, I turn back towards the pile, selecting a gift wrapped in pristine silver paper, complete with a large blue bow.
I return to my spot, beginning to tug at the bow and tear at the paper. My unwrapping reveals a plain brown box, forcing me to tear at the packing tape securing it. I pull the article from the package, pleased to discover I had picked an adorable pug shirt. I show it off to the group, then hold it close to my chest in hopes no one would steal it.
After a few more rounds, it’s soon Jake’s turn. As he stands, I’m surprised that he instead approaches the Christmas tree in the corner of the living room. My eyebrows furrow in confusion as he pulls a small bag from underneath the large tree, then returns to his spot. Jake furiously pulls the tissue paper from the bag before dropping the entire gift.
Everyone laughs in unison as he curses, Jake falling to the ground to retrieve it. He pulls the contents from the bag, revealing a small red velvet box. I gasp as he moves to rest on his knee, my hands moving towards my agape mouth. Jake’s hand pulls the box open, revealing a beautiful sparkling ring. The circular diamond seems to stare at me as tears begin to fill my eyes.
“Princess, the past year off the island and however damn long we spent on that hellhole has taught me a lot. You taught me a lot. You taught me what love is, and showed me that it’s worth fighting for. You taught me how to face my fears, rather than running away from them. You taught me how to let people in, and how to learn to trust again. You have completely changed my life, and I know I don’t want to experience anymore of it without you. I love you, Princess. Will you marry me?” Jake questions confidently, his loving gaze staring into me. Tears spill from the corners of my eyes as I nod in response.
“Yes,” I state breathlessly, allowing Jake to slide the ring on my finger. The room erupts into a chorus of congratulations and coos as Jake pulls me from my chair and into a deep longing kiss. I can’t help but smile as he kisses me, the thoughts of my future with my fiance swarming my mind. As we pull apart, I embrace him once more, excitement overcoming my body.
“I love you,” I whisper to him, holding him close to me.
“I love you more,” He retorts, smoothing my hair with his hand. We escape one another arms and sit back down, Diego immediately taking hold of my hand to better observe the ring.
“So, does this mean that you technically have two gifts now? Because, that is not part of the game,” Craig interjects, causing the entire room to fall into an eruption of laughter and a sense of overwhelming joy.
