Another ALNST friday i forgot about because I was too busy *raking fingers down my face*

ANYWAY FUCK MY LIFE

#ive always loved how the alnst casts eyes can be boiled down to kiki bouba #the rebels (mizi ivan till) have sharper eyes #longer lashes. more spiky in appearance. usually smaller irises and brightly colored #while the golden child trio (i have no better names for these dont mind me i just think they're funny)#of luka ivan sua #have rounded eyes #no long tapering lashes at the end but little lashes casting down on their much fuller yet duller eyes #i think its wonderful how much can be communicated from the shape of their eyes. sharp and branching out. rounded and often half closed.#theres so much similarity between them #yet they're all so unique #alnst #alien stage #alnst official #official art

i made this really quick for a friend but im posting it in case anyone else might find this useful. Basically i got this "technique" from a single image of concept art for the eagle from that "Rescuers down under" movie 😭 but imagining the head as a 3d object instead of starting with the basic flat circle REALLY helped me a lot

Actual polygon/cube #ALSO ALSO. features of the face like teeth eyes horns etc will also need to be angled diagonally #Otherwise it will look weird

hey that's not supposed to be out there (uploaded wrong version at first haha whoops)

#not supposed to be that color either #i wonder who that belongs to #i had a very vague meaning for this in mind but saying it would spoil the fun #christ this took me forever #i wanted to do a quick project to give myself a break from my final #but accidentally made an entirely new kind of nightmare #BUT i can proudly say that i am very proud of this despite how long it took me #alrighty this blog is all about tracking progress so my thought on this;#it's not really as energetic as i had hoped to make it so i think that's the biggest technical issue i have with this #i'll try to get back to doing more gestures soon as a way to help with that #i think my shadows are a bit confusing too #i'm looking at it now and his glasses kinda taper off into the void of his fur bc i didnt mark the shadow along the left of his ear #but the thought of digging back through layers to fix it and blending that mess in is giving me a headache so i'm content with leaving it #i think i learned a lot about light and reflections though #my shadows aren't the greatest but i had so much fun rendering the glasses #and the glow of the soul pushed me to think about bounce light a lot more #figuring out how to make the colors look like they were glowing was a whole separate issue #i did it in the last big ralsei drawing i did but not nearly to this extent #i won't be doing something this large for a while after this but i'll keep trying to work on the things i didn't like about this #i think i'm gonna start putting my self-crit in the tags from now on #it really does bulk up the posts and it's hard to scroll past #i like reflecting on my work like this though #i've been able to draw a lot more since i've started doing it because it helps me create specific goals for myself #lets me keep pushing myself while still having fun with my art #ralsei #deltarune #deltarune fanart

agonizing ordeal of it literally only being a week since my mri and still having over a month til my neurology apt. AND my health insurance wont approve the new migraine med im supposed to try. scream.

#would love to have this apt so i can stop being in like googling hell #which like. isnt fully hell loke a good portion has been helpful #bc the more i read the more i think ms actually might make sense and explain a Lot of symptoms and things i experience #that if i hadnt read abt it i might not have picked up on or realized they could be connected #im not totally aure bc i havent had any of the like obvious hallmark things other than lesions on my mri #which can be migraine related but.#also im so annoyed at this PA taking so long lol ive fully tapered off the last one (i can parallel park again lmaoooo)#the waiting game with health care is so fucking agonizing. wah.

#anime proportions are unreliable but i think the irl boots are too big. she has really long legs proportionall that make her feet look small #you dont want big boots to go with with a pencil skirt or anything similar #you want an outfit with a pencil skirt to taper off as you go down which is why they often go with high heels below #and above they have a cropped bottom&high-worn tux with padded shoulders or a cropped bottom&high-worn jacket with baggy shoulders

I've always wanted a soft, chalky art style, but all the chalk brushes I had came with weird transparency installed (so the darkest they could be was a weird gray, and all the color matching was always wrong). I finally made my own!

Very exciting <3

Best of all, it's smoother on the inside curve so it'll make coloring easier for me (Vector artist who turns shapes to objects and uses fill bucket).

We'll see if I need to change the way I color, but I have hope.

#99% true as far as we remember #I've wanted to retire my usual brush for a long time. It's tapered and it's ready to go
