From my perspective, this is the year the 1960s truly begins in the Billboard charts. By which I mean we're seeing the staples of the previous decade start to fade in favor for trends that will come to mark this new one, seen with the influx of teen idols, girl groups, and the flood of dance crazes. The Twist charted again this year, two years after its last appearance in the Billboard year-end charts.
So I finally watched the remastered Inland Empire the other night and the Loco-Motion scene reminded me of something but I couldn't quite place what it was.
Today it dawned on me that it was this Kelly Clarkson Show technical difficulty from 2020.
That's right, padam, padam, do the locomotion with me, bitch.

The song was originally written in 1962 by Carole King and Gerry Goffin, the married songwriting duo that wrote a number of hits including Aretha Franklin's "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman." It was first recorded by the couple's babysitter, Little Eva.
The song has reached the top 3 on the US Billboard Charts in 3 separate decades by 3 separate artists.
