My Blood’s MV shows that a person’s soul can be shattered into two distinct parts - What a person really is, and what a person wants to be.
My Blood opens with a child’s loss of his mother. This has such a profound impact on him, that it splits him into two separate identities.
The child becomes meek and complacent, seeming to fear any negative consequences. He’s now the ‘ younger brother ‘. He represents what the child genuinely is.
His ‘ older brother ‘ figure is the exact opposite. He’s aggressive, and acts as the voice of the former. He represents what the child strives to be.
Throughout the MV, the older brother leads the younger to rebel as well. At the end, the younger brother finally stands up for himself, recalling what the older had taught him.
It’s important to note that the visual aspect of both individuals is purely mental. The host vessel can distinctly see both of them, and bounce between conscious states. An outsider will ONLY see the host vessel.
Tyler Joseph IS that host vessel. Upon their split, possibly caused by the burden of carrying psychokinesis*, Clancy forms and becomes the younger brother, a representative of what he truly is, and Tyler becomes the older brother, a representative of what he wants to be.
The first time Clancy meets Tyler is during Jumpsuit. In 018 07MOON 18, Clancy watches Tyler break away from Dema and attempt to escape. He had only just begun to ponder rebellion, and Tyler being dragged away by Nico is the first time he really sees the Bishops in a negative light.
Throughout Trench, this continues. Clancy, Tyler, and the Torchbearer have constant back-and-forth communication. Eventually, Clancy laments on what Tyler has taught him about rebellion, and controls a dead Keons.
There are still distinct differences between the two. Clancy wields soul succession himself, where he is able to seize the dead. His Bishop is Keons. Tyler is susceptible to the effects of psychokinesis, allowing him to be seized and piloted like a body. His Bishop is Nico.
In reality, Tyler Joseph holds the entire spectrum of psychokinesis. He is able to seize others, yet be seized himself. He most likely has both Bishops monitoring him.
We watch through an outside lens. Clancy and Tyler are not physically distinguishable in our eyes, as they are in Tyler Joseph’s. The distinction should be made based on his mannerisms, and which form of psychokinesis is being used.
Plus, My Blood’s Trench icon was literally a skeleton.
For lack of a better analogy - They’re literally just The Narrator v. Tyler in Fight Club.
*Re: Psychokinesis catalyst
Pure speculation, I have nothing to back this point up. Psychokinesis is reserved for the Bishops and the bodies that they’re able to seize. An average person is not built to withstand that, so it has to have some sort of effect on him.

Raphael: "I'll admit, I expected you to look at least a little bit surprised."
20 INT Tav: "You were standing right in front of a portrait of yourself as a devil. That wasn't exactly hard to figure out..."
