Ringo Starr has Packed 2024 on Tap
- “It’s gonna be a great year,” drummer says
At 83, Ringo Starr remains busier than musicians half his age.
And he’s still a cornball hippie.
“What do I do? I play drums,” Starr, seated at his kit, says in a new video update.
“Peace and love, everybody.”
Starr just released his coffee-table book, “Beats & Threads,” has the Linda Perry-written and -produced EP Crooked Boy in the can and is now working on a 10-track country LP that would represent Starr’s first long-player since 2019’s What’s My Name.
“Can you believe it,” Starr said.
Spring and fall All-Starr Band tours are also on tap.
“It’s gonna be a great year,” he said.

And so I wake up in the mornin' and I step outside
And I take a deep breath and wonder why
And I scream at the top of my lungs, "What's goin' on?"

Song Review: Ringo Starr - “February Sky”
All hail Linda Perry - for the songwriter and producer has given Ringo Starr one of his strongest tunes in ages.
“February Sky” announces the April 26 arrival of Starr’s Perry-helmed Crooked Boy EP. Powered by grinding electric guitars and a gritty optimism shining through the grey light, the lead single finds Starr singing with an effective scratch in his throat as he declares: beautiful is this wasteland in the verses before heading to the chorus.
Gonna stand up, rise above the rain/start a revolution in these dark days/find the missing pieces that are vacant to the eye/well, I’ve had enough of February skies, he sings.
Fitting for today’s world, “February Sky” can also apply to what sounds to be an in-studio renaissance for Beatle Ringo.
Fab, indeed.
