It all started when y/n a young talented woman joined the f1 in red bull racing, having won 2 World titles at f2 finally getting the recognition she deserved.

When she was younger she looked up on a lot of drivers that had retired by the time she joined at 2019 like Sebastian Vettle, Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Michel Schumacher, Niki lauda and a few others.

Having her room filled with posters, signed photos, cups, shirts, pictures of her and her idols, paddock passes and everything.

Her childhood crush on Jenson Button was a best kept secret,. Very few knew about her crush and she preferred it that way because it was going to be awkward because if it got out, because come on they work together in a sense, he had interviewed her multiple times.

Driving along side max both at 17 had both good days and bad, with competition racing against your idols, your friends was a bit of a struggle in the beginning but as the months passed they all learned to not take whatever happens on the track outside of it and then she and a few others like Max, Charles, Lando, Oscar, Pierre and some other people getting more serious with the races.

The fans favourite moments were when before they race they waving at one other from inside of their cockpits, or traditions they did before the race, or even when they gathered around gossiping when and if they could whenever they were. Outside at a cafe? Yes!, at their hang outs? Yes!, at their grid walks? Yep! And the fan favs at press conference and before the races. Twitter going crazy about that.

There are so many talks.

When you spend almost half of your time on a place With so many people, either loud or whispers you Will learn so many things and hear so many things which you probably shouldn't hear or know but it's hard to not acknowledge them like an engineer from Mercedes fucked someone from redbull in hopes of learning information about the car so Mercedes could be better.

Or that a redbull engineer got his wife little sister and best friend pregnant the same month that he got his wife pregnant With his second child.

Some times you hear rumor regardless of whether that may be true or not....

Christian horner talking and fucking a girl from his team which when you learned that you didn't know what to do because Christian was a father figure to you and Max having shity fathers. Be cautious when you were around him? Desapointed? Sad? Or disgusted? You didn't know for sure either way and you went to max first with the information you had. At first he was just like you. A wave of emotions washed over him like it did to you, then you both discuss and decided on what to do and that was to wait and see if it's true or not, to not tell anyone nor his wife which you were close to or anyone for that matter and never mentioned it again... Verbally anyway when you saw him texting someone in the presence of his wife you exchanged looks, knowing looks or side eyeing each other when you saw them together talking a few meters from everyone else whispering . Which a few months later the texts of them were linked and you learned that a week or so from the first race of the season when you were tagged in a post about it

(Side note: I took actual tweets of that because I can't be bothered to make fake ones but also I am trying to edit it to have her be mentioned in them)

not quite rancid, except for your hate towards certain people. but maybe funny? im still in a certain headspace, as you can see. i call this "the one in which carlos is bella swan" in my head

Carlos remembers the story Fernando once told him, about his grandfather and the way he worked in a factory. He was pretty sure the story was bullshit, but Fernando was hillariously drunk, and that's when he usually let things slip. Carlos has learned more about the incestuous fuckfest that was the grid in 2010s than he ever wanted to know that way.

He also learned more about Sebastian Vettel than he ever could imagine wanting to know, but that's another story.

The point of this story was - quality control. Nando's grandfather apparently worked in a factory furing the war (and Carlos isn't asking which one, because Fernando is old), and he complained about there not being enough quality control about - shelling? Or shelving. Carlos isn't sure, and he definitely isn't going to ask because he doesn't really care and it's not even that relevant for the story of now, except it's all he can think about when he watches Lando hiss in pain and struggle to get the new watch Carlos had brought him off his wrist.

"It's got fucking silver in it!" Lando yelps, and throws the watch on the floor.

"No it doesn't," Carlos says, more confused than he ever has been in Lando's company (and those couple of times when he fell asleep beside Lando in the hotel rooms all over the world before and after the races and Carlos woke up dizzy and disoriented and hard don't count). "It's pure gold. I know you don't like silver, so I bought you gold."

Lando scoffs. "The fuck it is," he says, pain evident in his voice as he rubs his reddened wrist. "I don't know what bullshit your sponsors are feeding you guys, but there's definitely silver in this."

Carlos frowns, coming closer and taking Lando's hand in his. His wrist is swollen and a very unhealthy shade of red. "I didn't know you were alergic."

Lando's eyes shift to the side. "Yeah, I - I'm alergic," he says. "A pretty bad allergy." He chuckles. "Life-threatening."

Carlos feels like he's missing the joke. He feels like that a lot with Lando, except it never feels like the joke is on him, more like Lando is being hard on himself.

"I'm sorry," he says sincerely, trailing his fingers over Lando's skin. "I didn't know. I'll have a word with Richard Mille representative."

Lando's eyes are huge in the dim light of the room when he looks up at Carlos. It takes everything in him not to tighten his hold on Lando's wounded wrist.

"No problem, mate. It's the thought that counts anyway." Lando shifts a bit, and Carlos lets go. "I'll be fine. Wanna play FIFA?" He shakes the sleeves of his hoodie until they are covering half of his hands.

Carlos feels like he's missing something. He feels bad about the watch, though, so he only nods. "Sure."

Lando grins at him, and it's alright.

Except.

Except, when Carlos says goodbye that night, he catches a glimpse of Lando's wrist.

It's pale pink, and not swollen anymore.

Carlos watches Lando during the post race interview. His cheeks are a bit flushed, but he's still very pale. They've just spent a whole week on the beach and Carlos has an even darker tan than usual, but Lando is still extremely pale.

Carlos can't remember Lando using sunscreen once on their vacation.

He watches Lando until Caco elbows him in the ribs, muttering "Obvious and oblivious, my fucking God."

"He never sleeps," Oscar says offhandedly. "He texts me the weirdest shit at like, four in the morning, and then he's right as rain in the sim at seven." He turns to Carlos. "Was he always like that?"

Carlos ignores the gnawing in his stomach at the fact that Lando texts Oscar randomly. Before he can answer, Alex does.

"Oh my God, yes! He used to be the same when we were kids, never fucking sleeping. George, do you remember that one time..." he continues, but Carlos isn't listening.

Carlos can't remember a time when they were together and Lando fell asleep first.

"Aren't you hungry?" Max asks Lando on the plane taking them all back to Monaco.

"Nah," Lando replies, eyeing Max's burger with a mix of apprehension and disgust. "I ate before, plus, that just looks like an extra hour in the gym, and I don't wanna do that."

Max shrugs. "Suit yourself, weirdo."

Lando kicks him under the table and then leans back in his seat, fishing his earphones out. He catches Carlos' eye as he does so, and smiles.

Carlos smiles back instinctively, as he always does. Lando's lips look very red in his pale face. When he ducks his head, Carlos thinks he sees a flash of something sharp.

It must be the light, he thinks. Or the exhaustion.

It's probably both.

"Do you have an oral fixation, mate," George laughs, leaning on the fence. "You're always sucking on that straw, what are you even drinking?"

Lando shrugs, flipping George off for good measure. "You have an oral fixation," he replies, pulling his lips away from the straw. "And it's a protein smoothie, you dickhead."

Carlos watches him lick the remnants of his drink away. His lips are still stained red with it.

"Does it taste good?" he hears himself ask.

Both Lando and George turn to him, but Carlos is focused on the way Lando's eyes shift to the side for just a second before he scrunches his nose. "Not the best I've ever had, but good enough." He shrugs. "New recipe. Strawberries."

Carlos has a mild allergy to strawberries, so he can't ask to try it, at least not just before the race.

Lando knows Carlos is alergic to strawberries.

The race was a disaster, as are most of them lately. Carlos lies in his bed, finally free after the debrief. He can't sleep. His mind turns and turns around, and for once, he isn't thinking about the race data.

His phone is opened on the Google start page. Before he knows what he's doing, he types.

He knocks on the door too loudly for the early hour of the morning. There is shuffling, and then Lando opens the door.

"Carlos? What the fuck, mate, it's like, three in -"

"I thought silver was for werewolves."

Lando stops speaking. Carlos thinks he might have stopped breathing, too. That wasn't what he was going to say, but fuck it, it's what came out.

"What?" Lando says slowly. "What are you talking about?"

Carlos would've thought he was crazy, except. Except Lando's eyes flicker to the side, and Carlos knows how Lando looks when he is lying.

"I thought silver hurt werewolves. That's the myth," he repeats. "But you're not a werewolf. I don't think." He takes a breath. "You're a vampire."

He isn't looking away from Lando. He can't. He stares right into Lando's eyes and sees the emotions and the calculations in them as they happen, and he isn't going away until he knows, because he isn't crazy, he knows what he knows, he knows he isn't imagining things and -

"Fuck," Lando breathes out, his shoulders sagging. "Fuck, I'm so screwed," he says, and then pulls Carlos inside his room and shuts the door, but not before Carlos sees his fangs elongate and protrude, biting into his bottom lip.

Fuck, he thinks, and then, hot.

ik we've spoken abt this before, like lewis being so protective of lando already but thinking abt him becoming even more so when he's pregnant. esp if carlos isn't or can't be there or smthn. but i so see him just checking in on lando&bump all the time, buying him lil gifts, etc. yknow

Lewis takes his role as uncle SO seriously. In some universe, it happens accidentally, and Lando doesn’t realize until like SEVEN weeks in or something and he can’t figure out why he keeps throwing up, why he feels so horrible, etc. Then when they figure it out, like…how can you keep it quiet?? Especially when Lando suddenly has to drop out of the season and Carlos starts walking around grinning like a dumbass and also occasionally looking like he might pass out. Lewis I think IMMEDIATELY clocks it. He starts sending Lando care packages and when Carlos finally tells Lewis in a quiet moment, Lewis just looks at him like “I’m not an idiot.”

Anyway, all the others also try to look out for Lando in their way, but no one does it like Lewis, dropping in constantly and referring Lando to the best masseuses he knows. Also that first interview!!! “First of all, I just want to give a huge congrats to Carlos and Lando. I mean, it’s amazing news, and I’m sure they’re thrilled. We’re all so happy for them.”

Also, Lando and Carlos struggle a lot with being separated from each other in this time, so Lewis (and the others, but I think Lewis starts it) try to make it better by constantly sending Lando the worst pictures of Carlos that they can possibly take. It helps a LOT.

i believe i've caught @phantomwritr talk about a roadtrip fic before. i haven't read it yet, so here are my own thoughts!

i absolutely love love forced proximity and i think this would work really well. the first thing i'd think is in the entire history of us au of red bull!lewis and max being forced on a marketing trip. or maybe merc!max and lewis being forced together. that'd be... logical, i presume?

but for their current situations.

i think the hardest of everything is figuring out why they're in that car together. why they agreed to do a roadtrip together. 'it's good for PR' yes but why exactly?. the one thing i can think of that they have in common is the puma sponsorship? at least some years back.

putting that aside though. so, they're in the car together driving from a to b. i think max would start out bothered by default because of his intrinsic hatred to any marketing related shenanigans. lewis would overcompensate a bit to lift the mood and keep it fun. gradually, this will shift in them genuinely having fun together because max isn't a grumpy man at heart and they just have a similar sense of humour.

i'd assume whoever planned for them to have this roadtrip just installed some cameras inside the car. and not to have, like, this whole-ass camera crew following them. this gets important later on.

max is a bit of an oversharer, so he'll definitely be free n talk with lewis about his dad and everything. about the many many roadtrips to and from italy the two shared, the good and the bad. max puts on some old tunes and lewis is like ??? you know these lyrics?? you weren't even a Thought when this song came out. i was middle aged by then! and they joke and laugh about it.

lewis will, at certain pit stops, buy fruits and veggies and talk about roscoe or himself, about the struggles in the sport, but also about how he loves it. max will listen to when lewis talks about mission 44 and almave and max, as someone who loooves a drink, will vouch to try it.

i would love love it if this roadtrip required hotels and places to stay for the night. like them driving from florida to austin or nevada for the grand prix. maybe the same as lando/oscar did in that jack daniels video.

so, then, it's suuper easy to weave a 'there's only one bed' into it. i wouldn't start with it, since they still have to get used to spending so much time with each other like they've never done before. but gradually after having spent a few days together non-stop, they would for sure make only a small problem of the one bed. like oh nooo whatever shall we do. and lewis is too polite to ask for a different room and max interprets this as 'well, he has no problem with it, why should i?' which gets them to accept the double room. then, naturally, this can go one of two ways: they end up cuddling and make a bit of a joke about it and all is fine and wholesome, or one of them wakes up hard and the other takes care of it <3

so the cameras. max and lewis are getting closer together but they can't show all of this. the fast progression of their bond is nice, and esp after they've slept together/jerked each other off/kissed/whatever, they can't just... be touchy. so suddenly there'll be things like 'oh no the camera broke!' (cue editor seeing a shot of max literally turning the thing off) and they'll have sex/make out in the car.

maybe something Bad will happen too, like both of them being under pressure of making it to austin/nevada before a certain deadline and if they don't, they're fucked. the batteries in their phones aren't charged enough or they don't have data and something happens to the car. max's emotions will skyrocket with stress and frustrations and 'they should've let me get the plane for fuck's sake' and lewis will be a bit hurt like, i thought we had a fun time? but then all of it gets solved in time and max's emotions are normal again and lewis is like hm. you would've preferred the plane? and max is like, uh yeah way faster. and lewis is like, hm well i got to say i don't mind this as much as i thought i would. and max is like oh shit no no i mean i'm having fun with you! i'd have let you join me on the plane. and then all is well again.

overall i'd think they'd very early on have a relatively good time together bc they're both kindhearted people in my opinion. they just don't know each other all too well and have to get used to being so close so much for so long. yeah i think this would be a very fun fic to read, actually. nice nice. thank you for the question, love! <3

I'm genuinely so sorry that it took me so long to reply, but I'm taking the time now.

For context, this is my last reading on daniel in mclaren, lando's season thus far en the last part of the season for mclaren

Key points from those three posts (I can't summarize to save a life, you're better off reading the whole posts);

They will negotiate with Daniel regarding the situation to keep the seat. He needs to find his place within the team; regain his confidence while getting respect from team members.

Lando experienced the season as overwhelming. He's mentally really 'busy' because this season had been going so good giving him a confidence booster yet also making it harder for him because of the pressure. He's struggling with finding the balance.

McLaren is entering their conflict era. PR team working overtime. Drivers needing to learn how to back down. "People will make mistakes they want to run from."

Let me say that I'm quite happy with waiting so long looking back at it. Especially after Sochi. (Q: Does this count as cheating? A: No because there was a reason other than my laziness for not answering. Intuition.)

Short answer: No. I don't think so.

Long answer: No, I don't think the readings specifically changed. Especially since past readings can't really change. What could change is the answer to the questions if you'd ask them right now to the cards, but that's because the cards have a different thing to deal with now and might focus on a different aspect. I think the main answers will stay the same.

Daniel's win was amazing, really good but it doesn't truly make up for all the losses. Yes, it will help him in terms of the negotiations but they still will be there and Daniel will really need to work for that respect because really, some might wonder how one wins a GP and then goes back to this.

The McLaren and Lando reading I'll do in one go since it does overlap; I never hated saying "I'm right" more than now. If there is one mistake Lando wants to ignore happening it was ignoring the call from the team and not backing down.

It's hard to deal with the fact that your own decisions aren't the right ones, especially if it has such a huge impact on your results. In a lesser way, you could see it with Daniel's pit stop choice last weekend too. They're learning from their mistakes, but it's so painful.

Lando's second part of the season seems to be just as heavy, as draining as the first half and while it's hard, he's learning from it too. I also think he might slowly be able to find that balance, even if it's through sharing his own experiences like in the interviews he did about mental health.
