love listening to Callum Woodhouse, who has a northern accent, fight for his life to do an RP accent while surrounded by characters who speak with Yorkshire accents
#acgas 2020#all creatures great and small#callum woodhouse#tristan farnon#he is doing great but learning he's doing an accent has explained some of his deliveries i will be honest#i think the writing in acgas has forced him to really lean into the RP in a way that's not natural for him#it's the calling jim 'old chap' and suchlike that's making it really come out#like sam west sounds incredibly natural doing his accent i think because its (as someone with a canadian ear) super close to his real accen#but callum's is different enough that immersing him in a yorkshire setting is making it... difficult#it was easier to get away with in the durrells#partly because he was a 'kid' with zero class and parly because he was surrounded by people with greek accents#i'm writing all this because i'm avoiding going and getting my laundry for the record i'm not actually that invested
