Her Majesty
Am probably sadly not gonna keep up on my OC AU fics because of other projects/motivation
But I wanted to write Queenie (oni queen) because I love her so, here’s her introduction, sorry for the lack of full context but RIP
   Clap. Clap. Clap.
Lloyd spun toward the source of the sound. Somehow, it was unexpected, even in this atmosphere where they should be celebrating. He fought back the devourer venom. The other ninja defeated it. And yet there were Machia and Pythor, smiling, completely undeterred.
    And then, the clapping.
He spotted the source. The woman who helped him next to the river. How did she even get up here on the roof? When did she get here?
“Mio?” Lloyd said. “What are you doing here?”
She kept walking forward, clapping her hands, smiling. Everyone else was just as shocked as Lloyd was. Well, apart from one person. Mistaké stood there, eyes wide, more frightened than Lloyd had ever seen her.
“You all did so well.” Mio clasped her hands together. “Oh it was wonderful, marvelous. I wondered how it would all go down but I should have known you would have bested that snake.” She stood in front of Lloyd now, tapping him on the nose. He couldn’t keep himself from flinching and backing up. Something wasn’t right.
“Mio?” Lloyd said again. “That is you, right?”
“That’s not her name.” Mistaké spoke up. She was shaking by this point.
“Oh?” Mio turned toward the woman. “That’s funny of you to say, considering you’re using a false name as well, Tomomi.”
Mistaké hissed, revealing her fangs and pink eyes. “I no longer go by that name.”
“Hang on.” Kai said. “Mistaké do you know who this is?”
Mio giggled, putting her hand to her mouth. “Right, I suppose I should do a proper introduction hm? It’s been so long.”
She held out a hand as she turned, the sleeve fluttering in the air.
    “Kneel.”
The word itself seemed to slam into his chest. Lloyd stumbled back from it, but it seemed everyone else got it worse as their knees hit the ground. Even Mistaké. They all struggled to stand, but something seemed to hold them down.
“What the heck?” Jay shouted. “I can’t move.”
“Your Majesty.” Machia spoke from behind. Lloyd looked back to see both her and Pythor bowing. “As you ordered.”
“Oh yes, you did such a splendid job.” Mio chimed.
“Would you like us to do the honors?” Pythor hissed.
“Oh no, I really best introduce myself.” Mio looked back at Lloyd, still smiling. “It’s nice to formally meet you, Lloyd Garmadon.” Her whole body seemed to glow, shifting to a purple light as it changed. Horror crept up Lloyd’s shoulders as he watched three sets of horns form. She got taller. The details on her robes shifted from simple colors to intricate flames and gold. When the light left, he tried not to scream. Her purple eyes stared down at him. The patterns on her face were so colorful, around her eyes and under them.
She was an oni, which Lloyd might have guessed, but Pythor and Machia called her–
“I am the Queen of the Oni.” She put her hands together. “Or Empress, whatever term you prefer.”
“Th-the queen?” Lloyd stuttered. “As in, the ruler? As in–”
“Your great grandmother?” She closed one of her eyes as she smiled. The pink circles on her large set of horns glowed. “One of the first? Mother of… oh goodness what did he call himself now.” She frowned as she stared at the sky. “It was something absolutely ridiculous.”
“The First Spinjitzu Master?” Pythor offered.
“Ah, yes, thank you.” Her smile returned. “Either way, it’s so nice to see some family again after all these years.” She turned to the group of ninja. “Though, I know you’re not the only one. Hello, Wu.” She waved her fingers at Lloyd’s uncle who was still trapped in a kneeling position. “I heard you had some adventures with my ex-wife. Tut tut. This is why I’m not here to visit you.”
“Ex-wife?” Lloyd wasn’t sure why that was his first question. “You mean Firstborne?”
“Firstborne.” The queen made a face like she’d just drank rancid milk. “What a title. As if she’s the only one who was there at the beginning.” She spun around before there was a flash of light, glowing wings coming from her back. “Oooh, look at me, I’m the Firstborne, the one who created everything. I’m so important.”
    Lloyd shrank a bit. “Um…”
“Ah, sorry.” The wings vanished as the queen regained her composure. “Talking about my past marriage always makes me behave terribly.”
Lloyd wasn’t sure what to say, or do. It was obvious that since her sheer presence had everyone paralyzed her power wasn’t something to sneeze at, and yet she wasn’t behaving like much of a threat.
He better try and get to the point.
“What do you want?” Lloyd asked. “Why are you here?”
“What do I want?” She tilted her head at him. “Oh Little Prince, what a loaded question that is. I doubt I have the time to answer it.”
“You came here for a reason.” Lloyd growled. “What is it?”
The Queen stared back at him. Her eyes almost seemed sad. “Oh Lloyd, there’s so much you don’t know. There’s so much they never told you.”
    “For good reason.” Mistaké growled.
The Queen’s eyes flashed as she barely looked over her shoulder. “I don’t think we need to hear from you, traitor. You speak out of line, I'll take your voice.”
Lloyd shivered. Could she really do that?
“Why shouldn’t he know?” The Queen walked around Lloyd, hand resting on his shoulder.
Lloyd shivered. He wanted to run but he didn’t move. Was that because of her or because he was afraid?
“Are you afraid he might sympathize? Are you afraid he won’t just be your little savior anymore?” Her hand ran through his hair as she walked around his back. “Are you afraid of him?”
“We’re not scared of Lloyd.” Kai spoke up this time. “He wouldn’t hurt us.”
“Well no, I suppose not, but I wasn’t going to ask him to.” The Queen finished her circle. “I came here, to try and rebuild what’s left of my family.” She looked at her nails. “And since my son is dead, my grandson is dead, and my other grandson decided to favor my ex-wife, that leaves you.” She tapped Lloyd’s nose again. “How would you like to rule over this realm with me?”
    Lloyd glared. “No.”
That didn’t seem to deter her. She just kept smiling. “Why no?”
“I’m not laying waste to this realm just because you want power.”
“When did I say lay waste?” The Queen began to circle again. “I know your past opponents have all had a foolish sense of power, but that’s not the aim here. We need those resources, after all.”
“And what about the people who live here?” Lloyd turned to face her. “You’re going to wipe them out.”
“Only if they try to harm us.”
    “The villages and towns–”
    “Restructured, perhaps, but not destroyed.”
Lloyd opened his mouth, only to find he was running out of arguments.
The Queen grinned at him. “Sounding more appealing now?”
“Oh please.” Kai spat. “You’re not going to convince Lloyd to take over ninjago. Not when he spent so long protecting it from people like you.”
“Chatty one, aren’t you?” The Queen said. “But that is true. Lloyd has spent so much time fighting. Forced to fight his own father, thanks to my nephew.” She scoffed. “Then fight him again. Then a cult leader. Then an army of ghosts and an angel–”
    Lloyd blinked. “What?”
“And the time travelers, who I do have to thank by the way.” The Queen looked to Machia. Lloyd almost forgot she was there; she was so quiet. “If they hadn’t left Machia there in the past none of this would have worked out.”
“You what?” Jay shouted. “Wait, just how long have you been in ninjago?”
The Queen giggled again. “Oh dear, I’ve been here since my army fled, staying low, waiting for an opportunity.” That purple glow returned. Her robes turned green. White hair sprouted from her head. Lloyd’s heart raced again when he recognized the face of the empress.
“And what an opportunity it was, tearing open a rift from the realm of the departed. A shame our agent who slipped through turned traitor, but it’s no matter. It’s only a matter of time before the rest of my army comes through.”
“You…” Lloyd stared at her. “You were Harumi’s mom?”
“Oh she was so simple, you know, so vengeful. Letting her read about my general’s masks and what they could do, well, I couldn’t have asked for it to be easier.” She changed back. “But more on that plan later, Lloyd. Walking around this roof is exhausting. I think we should talk elsewhere.”
“You’re not taking him anywhere.” Cole shouted. His arms glowed as he forced himself up.
“Powerful one aren’t you, Master of Earth?” The Queen hummed. “But not powerful enough.”
The air shifted again. Lloyd watched as everyone floated up this time, thrashing around as they tried to get back down.
“Leave Lloyd alone.” Nya shouted. “Hasn’t he been through enough?”
“Hasn’t he indeed.” The Queen seemed to sing when she said that. “Weren’t you only twelve when this all started, Lloyd? So young, forced to skip your childhood for a supposed fate you didn’t even pick for yourself.” Her eyes were sad again when she looked at him. “A fate made by my son because he couldn’t be bothered to be responsible. He’d rather hand it off to someone else.”
“Do not speak of my father that way.” Wu said.
“Oh hush, papa’s boy.” The Queen sneered. “You can’t deny that he left almost an impossible battle in the hands of a child. You can’t deny that it forced him to grow up when he hadn’t even hit his teenage years. You can’t deny that he neglected to step in during the serpentine wars. You can’t deny that he left you and your brother to fight and seperate.”
Lloyd’s shoulders dropped, realization creeping up on him.
“And it wasn’t just that, was it? He gets his father back only to lose him again. He’s possessed by a vengeful ghost and forced to attack his friends. He had to take over his entire team after you went missing.” She pointed at Wu. “Him, a boy who for all purposes still hasn’t even reached what you humans consider adulthood. Now how is that fair?”
It seemed no one had a response for that.
The Queen turned to look at Lloyd again. “No more, I say. What do you say, Little Prince?” She put a hand on his cheek. It was gentle, unbelievably so. “You don’t need to make a decision now, and I won’t force you to decide one way or the other, but I would at least like the chance to explain.”
“You’re not taking him anywhere without us.” Kai tried to free himself again.
“Do you think you can stop me?” The Queen smiled at him.
“Don’t hurt them.” Lloyd said. “If you want to talk fine just… don’t hurt any of them.”
“Such a kind soul.” She brushed the hair out of his face. “Much like your father.”
Lloyd frowned. “Huh? But my father was–”
“Corrupted by venom?” She tapped his temple. “Even with all that evil in his veins he never tried to harm you, did he? For all his oni power he barely managed much destruction. Too much of a kind soul.”
Lloyd wasn’t sure why that brought a lump up in his throat, but he forced it back. He refused to start crying.
“Come along.” She gestured to Lloyd and then to Machi and Pythor. “I heard Hiroshi’s Labyrinth is good this time of year.”
    Lloyd frowned. “But how?”
The Queen just waved her hand again. Lloyd found himself floating. He looked to his friends, who still floated above the roof. They all looked horrified, but Lloyd wasn’t sure what else to do right now. He didn’t want to know what this oni was capable of. At least it was obvious she wouldn’t hurt him if he didn’t fight her. He’d just have to buy some time and hoped the others found a way to stop her.
