FO4 Companions React to Sole Keeping Her Tapeworm Because it's Her Bodily Autonomy
Cait:
The day Sole broke the news to Cait that she was eating for two, Cait seemed confused at first, but then agreed with her decision completely. Those who were in qualms about Sole’s opinion reminded her of Tommy back at the Combat Zone whenever she would pop a mentat or two. He’d always offhandedly snark ‘That’s stuff’l kill ya, Cait’, to which she’d remark “So could a feral deathclaw round’ the corner the second you step outside! Live a little Tommy!”
Codsworth:
Asks Sole if they could repeat that? After much explaining, pauses, and finger snapping, Codsworth seemed to be broken from his trance, only to bellow out long mechanic weeps and cries. “If the Hubby/Mrs could see this right now, they would be heartbroken!” Sole knelt down, attempting to console their robot butler and explained it was all going to be ok; that this was their choice and if things got too bad, they would definitely seek medical help. That seemed to quell the tears and reduce them to robo-sniffles here and there. “I-If you’re sure…” ‘I am’ Sole says, beaming.
Curie:
Immediately gasps in shock and leads them to the nearest med clinic. She tells Sole the importance of being parasite-free in an already dangerous wasteland. As Sole is bent over in a hospital gown getting purified water pumped at 120 horsepower up there, Curie distracts Sole by recalling an interesting tale of her work at a human spay and neuter clinic.
Danse:
Makes a disgusted face, and takes a few steps to the left in his Power Armor. Sole explains how it is a matter of bodily autonomy, and how it’s not contagious, no matter how gnarly it sounds. Danse simply nods and his finger itches towards his laser rifle, then in one quick moment he opens fire, rounds shooting through Sole’s body and lodging into the metal shack wall behind them. “Godless heathen. The brotherhood would never allow such filth.” He spits at Sole lifeless body.
Deacon:
“I know a way to fix that!” Deacon said proudly, sunglasses glistening in the afternoon sun. He himself was full of worms, and used them for spying. “Go ahead and pull down those jorts.” Sole raises an eyebrow at this, but they trust their good friend Deacon and do as he suggested. After all, they wouldn’t have the flexibility or willpower to get the tube up there themselves. After some straining the tube enters their back barn door.
“Wowza! That’s a strange sensation!” Sole exclaimed. “Hold onto something steady,” Deacon said cautiously, the liquid tube dispenser in hand. “You’re going to need something to ground yourself when I squeeze this tube into your rectum. You have to hold the liquid in your backyard downtown zone for as long as possible. Once it’s in there you’re going to want to shit yourself into next week asap, but you have to hold it for as long as you can stand.”
The tube Deacon held was clearly pre-war tech and was pulled from a box that was dusty and faded. A woman with a stay-at-home mom nuclear bomb haircut with a big smile and a thumbs up was pasted on the front. Sole grasped a car bumper tightly in their hands and braced themselves. “Okay. Do your worst.” Deacon squeezed the tube and the igniting liquid whooshed up into Sole’s secret tube.
“FUUUUUUUUUCK!” Sole screamed, loud enough to wake the entire settlement. “Hold it in, bitch!” Deacon shouted with encouragement and pumped a fist in the air. “Every particle of my being wants to shit!” Sole screamed, holding their ass shut. Deacon looked at his watch and counted down with his fingers.
“Okay, Sole! Go!” He shouted and pointed to the nearby hole they dug in the dirt. Sole duck waddled as fast as humanly possible, holding their ass closed as sweat beaded down their face.
They could feel the inner workings of their ass growling and howling for mercy. There was an enraged beast inside them, approaching doom looming over them. They rounded the corner to the hole, where Hancock was already squatting, his pants around his ankles! “Occupied, sister/brother!”
Hancock:
Doesn’t even bat an eye, perhaps because he’s supportive of Sole’s decisions or perhaps he’s high as a kite and sees Sole as one giant worm anyway. They proceed to get zonked out of their minds all night, arguing over what the worm will be named, what college it will go to, and how many kids it will have. Fahrenheit occasionally interrupts them due to being too loud, to which the mayor simply reasserts his mayoral rights, and recites the United States Constitution all while standing on a coffee table and falls into Sole’s arms bridal style.
MacCready:
Side eyes Sole after they recall their tale, and states he should now be getting paid twice as much as he now has two employers. He also tries to bargain the tapeworm off of Sole’s body to sell it on the black market which angers Sole as it’s their decision to keep it, and to be honest they kind of grew fond of the little guy.
Valentine:
The detective side of his brain wants to know how the tapeworm got there in the first place, and how to stop Sole from infecting themselves with more in the future. He finds later on with his investigative skills that they gave themself the tapeworm to slim down their figure. Nick places a comforting hand on their shoulder as they cry in the rain when he confronts them. “You’ll always be a fine piece of ass in my book, worms or no worms.” He says tenderly.
Piper:
When Piper finds out that Sole will be keeping their tapeworm she is confused. At first she thought they’d be heading straight for the docs office and getting that thing flushed out. However Sole is firm in their decision and that it's their worms, their body. Piper can’t quite argue with that. She ends up writing news stories about Sole and their worm companion, until Sole slowly withers away.
Preston:
Doesn’t know what a tapeworm is. He has his own case of ringworm however, and once the settlements are taken care of they wrestle leisurely and pass the worms back and forth.
Strong:
“I TOO HAVE WORM!” Is all he says, and he doesn’t bring it up for the rest of the year.
X6:
Says nothing at first, just stares blankly until one night he offers Sole a coffee. Sole drinks the coffee and spends the rest of the night vomiting and shitting blood until they are tapeworm free. X6 smiles proudly from afar as they are rushed to a medic.

“Jughead?”
At the sound of his name, Jughead shoves his phone into his back pocket, looks up, and freezes.
The woman standing in the doorway — with a bouncy blonde ponytail, collared sweater, and the greenest eyes he’s ever seen — is not what he’d envisioned when he scheduled a consultation with a tattoo cover-up specialist.
“Jughead Jones?” she repeats, sounding slightly unsure this time.
“Yeah, no, that’s me.” He clears his throat as he rises to his feet, and she smiles.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Betty.” With a wave of her hand, she leads him into a small room at the back of the shop, gesturing towards the black tattoo chair in the corner for him to take a seat. “And you’re looking to cover up a back tattoo, is that right?”
“That’s right.”
“Great.” Betty blinks at him for a moment, then asks, “So can I see it?”
“Right. Yeah, of course.” With a slight shake of his head, Jughead pulls his t-shirt over his head, taking care to ensure his gray beanie doesn’t come off with it.
He twists around so she can see the tattoo in question, a name spelled out in black script across his left shoulder: Jessica.
“Okay,” Betty says after a brief pause. “So this is either going to be fairly easy or really hard, depending on what you want.”
Jughead cranes his head over his shoulder to see her, and immediately regrets it. From a distance, she was distractingly pretty; up close, she’s dazzling.
Turning back towards the wall, he says, “Easy, please.”
“Oh — so you don’t have a design in mind?”
He glances at her again. “Not really. Was I supposed to?”
“Well, usually, but — we can work together on something. That actually might make it easier. Some people come in with, like, a big black Celtic knot on their chest and think I can magically turn it into a field of yellow daisies.”
Betty smiles again, and Jughead feels his insides turn to goo.
Goddammit.
He’s here to erase the final vestiges of his latest romantic entanglement — not knot himself up in a new one. Especially not with the woman doing the erasing, for that matter.
“Of course, you could also go the laser removal route, if there’s nothing you’re excited to replace it with,” she continues, oblivious to the fact that she’s utterly charming him with nothing more than what is probably her standard spiel for new clients. “But since it’s black, you’re probably looking at at least ten to twelve sessions, and there still might be kind of a smudge left there at the end.”
Jughead had in fact looked into laser removal, and come to the similar conclusion that driving over an hour back and forth to the dermatology clinic in Greendale a dozen times was an exorbitantly long amount of time to spend undoing a decision that he’d made in roughly ten seconds. Besides, spending more time around Betty hardly seems like a chore.
“I’m sure we’ll come up with something I’m excited about.”
Betty leaves the room, returning with an armful of books and binders filled with design ideas. “See if anything in these inspires you, and I’ll tell you if it’s doable,” she explains.
To his surprise, rather than leaving Jughead alone to peruse the artwork, she settles back into the chair opposite him and begins to flip idly through one of the books herself. “Feel free to tell me if I’m being too nosy,” she says lightly, “but sometimes it’s helpful with creating a new design if I know the story behind the old one.”
Jughead cringes — he’d figured this was coming. “There’s not much of a story,” he admits. “My now-ex-girlfriend and I did shrooms on a weekend trip to the city and she somehow convinced me to get her name tattooed across my back while I was tripping balls.”
Betty clucks her tongue in disapproval. “A decent artist wouldn’t tattoo a guy who shows up tripping balls.”
“A decent artist wouldn’t get the phone number of the girlfriend whose name a guy was getting tattooed across his back,” he replies. “And a decent girlfriend wouldn’t text him for a booty call literally the next day. But that’s why she’s an ex-girlfriend, not a decent girlfriend.”
Betty snorts, immediately followed by a soft gasp as she claps her hand across her mouth. “I’m sorry. That’s not funny.”
Jughead grins as he flips to the next page in his book. “No, it is. And it was months ago, I’m over it. You’re welcome to viciously mock me for my poor decision-making skills. Everyone else in my life already has.” Chief among them being his sister, JB, but even his best friend Archie — who himself harbored a laundry list of embarrassing romantic mishaps — had got in a few good digs.
“I have one rule: I don’t make fun of my clients,” Betty insists, though the slant of her mouth suggests otherwise. “But maybe it’ll make you feel better to know that you’re not alone.”
“Honestly, it makes me feel like a cliche.”
“Well, everyone deserves a second chance.”
Something about the way she says it draws his gaze back to her face, but her own eyes are trained down on the pages in her lap. Jughead feels a sudden, desperate urge to know more about her.
“Feel free to tell me if I’m being too nosy,” he begins slowly. “But most tattoo artists I’ve met are pretty much covered in tattoos themselves.”
A faint pink flush rises on Betty’s cheeks as she meets his questioning gaze. “How do you know I’m not?”
It’s a fair point. The only bare skin she has on display is that of her hands, her neck, and her face.
But the mere suggestion of more — the thought of peeling away her clothes to find the warm, smooth, inked up skin beneath — is too much for him to handle right now.
With a sly twist to her lips, Betty holds one arm out towards him, pushing back the sleeve of her sweater to reveal the underside of her wrist. What looks like the curled end of a dragon’s tail peeks out from the edge.
“My parents strongly disapprove, so I don’t get inked anywhere that I can’t cover up with my clothes. It’s silly, but makes visits home a lot easier to bear.” She shrugs. “And it’s cold out today.”
Jughead swallows. “That’s a shame. Just that little bit of it looks pretty cool.”
“Maybe I’ll let you see the whole thing when you come back for your next appointment.”
Betty holds his gaze for a beat. Then — to his horror — she bursts into laughter.
She presses her palms to her cheeks, which have grown bright red. “I’m so sorry. I’m not normally this…I didn’t mean for that to sound like…god, you must think I’m so unprofessional.”
“No, no. It’s okay.” Jughead laughs, too, certain his own red-hot face matches hers. “I — well, I’d like that.” He closes the book in his lap, leaning slightly forward. “Maybe we could keep working on a design over drinks tonight?”
Betty presses her lips together, her nose scrunching up adorably. “I actually have two rules. I also don’t date my clients.”
Jughead shoots her a crooked smile. “Then I guess I’ll have to go with the laser removal, after all.”

PROMPT: [visiting hours] — upon waking in a hospital bed, one of the muses turns their head and finds the other sleeping in an uncomfortable chair by their bedside.
SENDER: @coesmos
both elexus and sam knew the work they did could potentially be dangerous. but as long as justice was served, and people were protected, it was fine. everything was fine. she thought that with being a full fledged ranger now along with all her past ‘jobs’ shes done, elexus would be able to sense when danger was around even easier. right now? she was second guessing things.
they’d been sent to find a missing person which ended up leading to an abandoned star-yard in the sol system. she’d had a bad feeling at first but initially ignored it, brushed it off as paranoia. it was eerily quiet — too quiet. there’d been no sign of a person being there recently. by the time they reach the main area, it was like time stood still. and there was no time to react before the spacers made themselves apparent from the shadows. the first bullet launched hit sam first, right in the shoulder. thats when everything went red for elexus.
everything was still relatively fuzzy but she was lucid enough to bring him to the Clinic. their care was impeccable and she had the credits to pay for it. her ‘oh shit’ money as she would call it. and there she was, half asleep in the chair next to his bedside as he snoozed — aching. elexus was still in fight or flight mode, the lightest sleep possible in case she needed to defend her wounded … partner. she’d gotten banged up herself and had a lovely shiner plus a split lip but she was more worried about him. he had an injury that could’ve taken him out had she not used a trauma pack on him and rushed him here.
“ hey . . . ”
he’s awake now and peering at her. she borderline jumps out of the chair at his sudden speech, but more or less breathes a sigh of relief at his consciousness. elexus cant help but crack a small smile.
“ hey there daddy-o . . . how ya feelin’? you took quite a beating out there. scared me. scared cora. ”
this entire ordeal hadn’t gone the way either of them had wanted . not at all . of course , as he did when he landed on any planet that did not seem completely barren and devoid of life , sam coe had expected a measure of danger . he’s always cautious when it comes to that sort of thing , always willing to look out for himself now that he has a daughter he needs to protect and look after . and now that he has elexus by his side … he has someone else to make sure is safe , too .
the fight goes too quickly . one second , he's got searing pain in his shoulder and , real quickly , the rest of his body . they're putting up a good fight , the two of them , but there are a lot of spacers around , and they're all armed and ready for them . he's been caught in firefights like this before , and outnumbered , but he'd had more than one other person with him , and maybe he was even better practiced . it doesn't take him long before he finds himself overwhelmed .
then he feels something searing in his side , like a laser wound tearing straight through his organs , and someone behind him slams something solid against his skull , and he can't remember anything else after that .
when he awakens and his senses register , he notices the chemically clean smell . he knows right then that he's in some sort of medbay somewhere . safe , at least , and fixed up as well as he can be . it's a pain to move , but he does eventually to glance around and realises elexus at his side . she's sat in a chair by the bedside , likely waiting for him to wake up . he's not sure how long it's been since he got here , or how long he was out after the fight , but one thing's certain : she cares enough to wait .

Timeline (1986 - 1996): Scott didn't want to write up his own file. Something about a conflict of interest. So here I am. I choose to believe that means he sees me as capable as himself, since Scott otherwise takes his duties as a TB pretty seriously. There are still a ton of personal details I wasn't able to get from Scott directly, but I did get from Jean with Scott's consent, and I'd say that's about as good a verification as any.
Scott has had a rough life, but what he went through wasn't what entirely made him into who he is. When corresponding with Alex, it sounds like Scott was always a bit of a quiet kid, the kind who preferred to play around with his LEGO bucket than go outside. The family moved around a lot, which probably didn't help Scott with making friends. That's probably why he seemed to cling to Alex in these days. Even though Alex was super-young back during this time, he still vividly remembers Scott being very protective, helping Alex with his math homework and cleaning him up whenever Alex got scuffed up. Poor Scott might have been able to catch up on his social skills, were it not for everything that came next.
Timeline (1996 -1998): Now, even those among us here on Stars & Stripes, the full details of what went down at the Starcore Incident remain unclear. We have a prevailing theory, but pending the approval of an actual, real-life alien onto the Brigade (Rick himself has been vouching pretty hard for this Marvel guy, so it shouldn't be too long), all we know for certain was that Canadian billionaire Peter Corbeau wanted to get humankind into space, and someone else didn't want that. And because Chris Summers was the chosen pilot for the spacecraft and invited the rest of the family to the lunch site to watch him fly off, they all got caught in the crossfire.
First, Scott watched the spacecraft carrying his dad get shot out of the sky. Next, his mother rushed him and Alex into a convoy and rushed off the launch site as it was being bombarded from above. Scott's mom didn't get far and was swerved off the road. Pinned to the car from the wreck, she pleaded to Scott to lead Alex into the woods and keep him safe, but the brothers only made it out a little bit before Alex broke down in hysterics. As Scott tried to tend to Alex, he saw from afar two figures aiming a shot. When Scott shoved Alex out of the way, the blast that hit the ground then flung Scott into the air, striking his head against a boulder and knocking him out cold.
What happened next is much less speculative, but no less nasty. That monster Essex, he somehow found Scott and took him to his clinic in Arkansas. Over the next year, Scott was kept in the clinic's basement, sedated but conscious enough to be subjected to Essex's experiments, all to extract and toy with Scott's X-Gene. What finally pulled Scott out of it was Jean, when she became a guest of the clinic herself. The connection was hazy, but the mental impression of a red-headed girl around his age gave Scott enough focus to finally escape. His optic blasts cleared an entire concrete wall, and Scott blindly ran off into the Ozarks.
Waking up a year later, clear across the country, and suffering not only from intense migraines, but what seemed like lasers bursting out from his eyes to say that Scott was overwhelmed would be an understatement. This was how he fell prey to Jack Winters, a jewel thief who was operating in the area at the time. Winters came up with half the solution to Scott's optic blasts, and gave him a nice pair of Ray-Bans. They weren't as effective as his later custom ruby lenses, with Scott literally burning through his shades over time, but it was enough to entrust Scott to Winters, who became his lookout and accomplice in his crimes.
Scott's blasts would still sometimes get out of control, and enough random arsons made in this stealing spree caught the attention of Agent Duncan, who then reported the situation to the Professor. It all came to a head when Duncan assembled the local law enforcement to corner Winters in his latest raid. Desperate, Winters opted to hold Scott hostage, only to find his body becoming immobilized. The Professor then telepathically instructed Scott to exit the store, where the two then had a more proper introduction once the cops rushed in to detain Winters.
Timeline (1998 - 2004): With the help of Agent Duncan and Professor Xavier, Scott was sent to live with his grandparents in Alaska, where he lived a much more stable Iife for the next few years. Scott still wasn't much of a social butterfly, but his traumas didn't completely cripple him, either. During this time, Scott got super-introspective, getting into meditation and martial arts (Huge fan of Bruce Lee). He also got involved in his school's sailing and journalism clubs, which is how he met his one and only high school friend and confidante, Lee Forester. Speaking with Lee, Scott around this time didn't sound much different from how the rest of us know him for, save for being even more stiff and reserved. And, knowing what he just went through back then, I honestly don't blame him.
This was also around the time Scott first got into sleuthing. Not only having been victimized by forces he didn't understand, but also just insanely curious about his mutant nature, Scott first fell into his habit of never being able to leave things be. It's probably what ended up having him become one of Rick's earliest recruits into the Brigade. Scott never managed to uncover the full truth of what truly went down at Starcore, but he did at least track down Alex. He chose to remain with his adoptive family in Vancouver, but the two brothers remained in touch.
Speaking of keeping in touch, Scott maintained contacts with Xavier all throughout this time. The Professor hooked Scott up with his first pair of ruby shades, and frequently held check-ups on Scott's condition and his own private testing of his mutant power, and Xavier was completely open to any and all questions Scott had about mutants, of which there was apparently a lot. I can personally attest to this, the Professor is one of the few people Scott can become an absolute chatterbox about. He trusts him out of all of the original team. So when the Professor called Scott to come to New York following graduation to help him with a social study on the mutant experience, Scott left Alaska without a second thought.
The first day he stepped foot into the Mansion, Scott was met with his literal dream girl. Apparently, his face grew as red as his glasses, and then when Jean attempted to greet him telepathically he then rushed out of the room. The two tried again with the introductions eventually, but it would still take a bit more time for Scott to open up to Jean. All the other non-mind-readers of the First Class, it was a whole lot smoother. Scott got along with Hank pretty well. The two bonded not only on mutant issues (Scott with the social aspect, Hank with the genetics), but also because the two now had a sparring partner with their martial arts hobbies. There was a brief pecking order once Wren entered the picture, one that Scott didn't feel like dignifying and let Wren believe she was the leader of their little group, for the time being at least. The two even worked together when Bobby got into his legal troubles, and because of that Bobby was especially fond of the two of them.
Soon enough, Scott found himself in a friend group he could trust and depend on, and he believed in the Professor's whole dream wholeheartedly. So when the Brotherhood invaded Santo Marco and created an an international incident, it was a lot for Scott to take in. He looked for the Professor for guidance, only for Xavier to shut himself off entirely, taking the whole situation even worse. Hank told Scott and the others of the whole history between Xavier and Magneto, and the story sparked something in Scott. With a little encouragement from Jean, Scott first rallied the rest to take action, and then cajoled Xavier to let them take their training to the test. It took a lot of convincing, but eventually the group piled into the Professor's fancy private jet, ready to sneak into Santo Marco and change history.

Entralink, she heard someone mention, but for as often as she saw people come in, they never seemed to stay for very long, and disappeared shortly after... Where did they go, she wondered? The forest became her home for a while, until necessity to connect with others- and To hunt, find food and water- drove her from it.
Such a strange and fascinating place would hold her attention for years, but there were bigger things to do... Like figure out how to get a grip on these strange powers.... It was a constant battle with them demanding to be heard whenever she got even remotely emotional, which has lead to her being rather shy and meek.
She wandered Unova for a time, memories of a time before Plasma steadily returning to her- She remembered how to make healing salves and balms! And so she travelled, offering her services and healing wayward trainers and their pokemon should they require it, and eventually this blossomed into setting up a small clinic and pharmacy near Lostlorn forest. The practice was booming for a while until she wound up making a trip to charge stone cave, finding that psychic energy attuned well to the crystals there, and after a lot of science, found she could focus Psychic energy through them like a laser... She often goes out wearing a big hoodie and wraps her tail around her waist, not wanting to scare people with her more animalistic features, and winds up frequenting Nimbasa city and its neighboring forest looking to buy or scavenge for stock, she's often seen frequenting the amusement park or people watching at the battle subway! But as a meowstic, she's also extremely curious, and will often wind up in trouble because of her own inability to prepare.
