Listen I know we joke about it all the time but god I really want to write a fantasy where the main character is a chosen one but THE MOST RELUCTANT chosen one ever.

Wizened Mentor: the prophecy foretold a daughter of two worlds bringing balance to a world without magic

Protagonist: okay but have you considered…no?

Villain: I see great potential in you, why do you squander it by wasting it away in that hovel of a village?

Protagonist: first of all…RUDE. And second of all, what if I don’t WANT to live up to my potential huh? Have you ever thought of that?

Guard: HURRY! We must get you out of the village before the dragon comes

Protagonist: what? No, I’m not leaving the comfort of my bed to go camp out in the woods where there’s no food or warmth. If the dragon takes me the dragon takes me.
