One thing I appreciate about The apothecary diaries is that. You hsve this bunch of girls that would've, sort of realistically be against one another. Because it's quite literally the only way they could survive (the concubines, the courtesans, the servants) and yet they're all sort of in a way still supporting one another

The only time there's been a killing is when 1) its out of loyalty for their masters 2) because theres this huge jerk thats been abusing his wealth

Another thing that i truly appreciate is the fact that they didn't make the courtesans to be gold digging bitch ass ditzy women. Argue me on this, but that is the streotype that most movies and books have been putting onto women working in the brothel.

Instead they went the other way, showed a bunch of girls supporting and sympathizing and caring for another in the brothel. I can't. I literally cant. This anime had me in a chokehold

These lyrics came to mind unexpectedly as I was dreading the day I have to head back to college. Holiday is over, but what I wouldn't do to have it back and to go somewhere with someone I hold dear.

As the days near, I start to realize that I have been taking things for granted all those years and months ago when I was still living with my parents.

Now that I'm back temporarily, I start to realize the littlest thing they do for me. The littlest, and yet the most meaningful someone has ever done since I started college. It does wonder to me<3

Okay 1. Since its been said that the vol5 epilogue wouldn't come up again, i truly wasn't expecting maomao to adress it in vol6

2. I've realized that maomao has a serious problem with her self worth. Not just because of her social status, but also mainly how she thinks she's dispensable. "This time he might finish the job" girl that's not-

I truly can not get over the sheer magnificent that is The Apothecary Diaries. Literally there is not a single day that I do not re-watch at least one episode of that fucking anime (It's taking over my life)

But just now, I realized how much this anime seems to highlight not only the problem that women faced back then, but also their cleverness of dealing with it. Like yeah, women are seen as objects, and judged heavily by their appearances. But these women actually managed to use those against unwanted advances

several cases like The dancing ghost, The wheat stalk episode, Balsam and Woodsorrel, heck even Ah-duo (iykyk) and her ladies in waiting especially highlight the cleverness that women possess and how they can use it to their advantage. And yet. AND YET. I love how despite all that none of them were really portrayed as being evil or unreasonable, just a way to survive. I would also like to argue that the shi clan arc (again, iykyk) didn't really portray our two main girls as evil because they're not!! just another means to survive against their fucked up guardians

I am so in love with this series, like is this what we get when women write women? if so i want more please. sometimes i genuinely sob when i think about it, it's driving me insane

Idk about you guys. But mentally. I am still here. That kiss was everything to me and I don't even mean it in a romantic shippy way

I keep thinking about how Alya was literally the first person to probably show any real support for Marinette against Chloe. How without her, she probably wouldn't have become ladybug and have the self confidence that she does now.

Later on she'd also be the first person to KNOW (master fu not included) who ladybug is. And let's not even mention the first person Ladybug trusted and gave a miraculous to.

To see their friendship come in full circle in the special is just. Idk it's so beautiful. I was already sobbing before but when she kissed Marinette, I full on BAWLED my eyes out.

I am so mentally unwell

I just saw a tweet of someone listing who Marinette's actual friends are. Which btw are Zoe and Kagami. And yknow what. Fine. That's fine. Not a big problem right?

But then they put in fucking Sabrina. Instead of alya.
